Started looking for our go-to neighborhood sushi place. This place is a contender - great service and quality food. Plating/presentation adds a nice flare! I can always count on this place when I'm craving sushi rolls in the area. This is fusion sushi, so don't come here looking for omakase or anything like that. It's a small, unassuming restaurant next to froyo store and a dry cleaners. It can get crowded, but I've never had a problem getting a table right away. The service is quick too. Their maki special price has gone up over the years, but it's still a pretty good deal. Most of their rolls are around $10, but with the special, you can get any 2 rolls for $18.95 or 3 rolls for $24.95. Some of my favorites have been the Scotland Roll (shrimp tempura with salmon on top in a mustard sauce) and Sunset Roll (shrimp tempura and krab with spicy tuna on top). I recently tried the Veggie Tempura Roll and enjoyed it. They have some special rolls for $2 extra. I tried the special Crunch Mania Roll which was the same as the Sunset, except it had tuna and avocado also. It was good, but not different enough for the extra money. Good sushi for a good price and the portions are on the larger size. They also give you complimentary edamame! This will continue to be a go-to spot for me. read more

This is me and my girlfriends go-to sushi spot in East Side. Corey, along with the head chef and supporting staff are fantastic. If you're not sure what to get the staff is super knowledgeable and friendly, and always willing to help guide you while being cognizant of your palette. Lowkey vibe with high quality fish (toro nigiri is a must if available). Would give this place 6/5 if I could. Will be coming back (weekly)! read more

I've come here many times over the years and it's good enough to keep coming back to but I can't say it's amazing. If you're looking for decent sushi for a decent price this is a good option. I will say the restaurant is very small though so with covid I would recommend takeout. We have been a long time patron of Jacks. Very sad to be writing this bad review of our once go to "take out" sushi restaurant. Past few visits have resulted on this negative review. Not sure what happened but the quality of sushi has drastically declined. Sad to say we will no longer be going here for our sushi. First... their Super crunch roll is one of our favorites. Last 3 visits the tempura crunch was stale, no crunch! White Tiger roll, sushi was not fresh. same with the Tuna lover roll. On our last order of 3 Maki specials (9 rolls) they forgot to include our Tuna lover roll (maybe a blessing?). The Spider roll, crab was burnt in old oil given that nasty after taste. Not sure how a business can let the quality slip like this but when we first started going to Jacks, the quality was top notch. We have given Jacks 3 chances to redeem themselves and yet was let down each time. Save your money folks! We are in search for another local sushi bar. read more

New favorite sushi restaurant in town! We stopped by on a Friday evening with a few friends -- there was plenty of parking and no wait. They offer a variety of fresh sushi and drinks, including both alcoholic and non-alcoholic options. Corey was our server and he was very attentive and provided us with great recommendations. We started with the miso soup, tried various nigiri sushi, specialty rolls, hand rolls, sashimi... Our favorite was the O Toro sashimi, which was so fresh and buttery. We'll be back soon! read more

This is my favorite local sushi spot! I don't even want to try other sushi restaurants because I am doubtful anything will be as satisfying. My favorite rolls are the Hawaiian and Scotland. My mouth is watering just thinking about them! I have never been able to remember what sake I like, but the staff always recommends something and it takes well to me! Luckily I live close enough to walk home... They have a late-night happy hour from 8pm-close... I stumbled upon this sushi place the last time I was in OC and I'm so glad I did! We came in here and the place was packed. We only had to wait for about 10 mins for a table and then were seated which isn't bad at all. Water was brought to us right away and we then took sometime to look over the menu. There was so many different sushi rolls to choose from so it took me awhile to decide what to get. My friend and I decided to get a whole bunch of different rolls to share with each other! They have daily specials and even have a special deal when you buy a certain number of rolls at different times. We got tons of rolls to share! We got the spicy tuna roll on rice, philly roll, rainbow roll, each got a miso soup and california roll. Everything was so fresh and tasty! All of rolls came out at different times so it was easy to share everything. I really enjoyed the food and the service here! I'm excited to come back here again soon next time I'm in OC! read more

Really disappointed. We loved this place and it started to be our new goto for sushi this past year....well we went recently and they jacked up their prices. Totally understandable for prices to go up, as we are dealing with inflation...however increasing prices by $3 and $4 dollars is a little much. Sad to say we won't be coming back. I've been coming here once a week for about 5 years and never been disappointed. The new ownership are very nice and supply amazing sushi. My go to is the combo with either the Alaskan roll or the lemon salmon, sub asparagus for avocado with a side of fresh wasabi. Love this place and will continue to eat here often. read more
