Oh boy, do I ever! My group of 3 friends and I came to this place THREE TIMES while we were in Maui for 8 nights. This really shows how much we liked Slappycakes! Where a kid can be a kid lol. Awesome concept and great service! We only waited about 10 minutes to be seated on a Thursday morning around 9am. It seemed to get packed after that, but they bussed the tables so quickly! There was merch, natural lighting, booth seating, stool seating, and table seating for the griddle groups. So fun and worth waiting for. First, the wait was shorter than quoted. I feel like griddle tables turn quicker (speculation) since there's no waiting for the kitchen and other orders ahead of yours. So if you're waiting for a griddle table (and you should!!) just stick it out. This place was recommended by another family and we're glad they recommended it. It was a fun breakfast for our 5 year old and us. Plus it was fairly affordable too. We got three bottles of batter for three of us and it was more than enough. Here's the only suggestion and reason for 4 stars. The add-one are what get you. They add up quickly and they're pretty big. For example, one of our add on items was chocolate chips. It was probably a full cup of chips. I would like to see them reduce the price of the add on items and reduce the size. Then people can get a variety. We got 3 add on items and they alone cost $12...for chocolate chips, peanut butter chips, and butterscotch chips! Also, we got a mimosa. It was in a pretty trendy glass and tasted fine but it was incredibly pricey for the size. Skip the trendy glass and serve a real mimosa. Suggestion: what about additional batter flavors like red velvet, strawberry, Nutella, coffee, etc. I'd sooner pay a small markup ($1-$2) for special flavors than $4 for chocolate chips. I'm sure the margins on that would be greater ;-) All-in-all, this was an awesome place and we recommended it to other families we encountered. We'll be back for sure on our next visit. read more

It was our first time at Slappy Cakes & we will definitely be coming back! The inside of the restaurant is very clean and well done. I liked the big wooden booths and their high chairs were CLEAN! Clean high chairs seem to be hard to come by just in general. The front of the house staff were very welcoming, happy and accommodating. Our server was prompt, friendly and fulfilled all our requests. We got the special fried rice, banana bread French toast & a side of fruit. Everything was delicious and I was impressed by the fruit because I'm used to a couple of strawberries, melons & a grape or two. Came here on a saturday morning for my friends birthday. There were three of us, we sat down pretty quickly maybe about 10 min wait. We sat at a table close to the host stand and the bartender girl was our server. We hadn't been at our table for more than 3 minutes when she asked if we were ready to order drinks, we had barely started to look at the menu as we were all catching up and talking. The waitress a bit busy with the bar and tables nearby so it felt like she was rushing us. All three ordered the same thing which was the breakky hash, two orange juice and a virgin bloody mary. I had forgotten that in the menu description it says it has onions so about 3 min after i told the waitress my order i rushed to the bar to ask her if it was possible to omit the onions and she went into the kitchen only to inform me that it was not possible. They all came out and i was very disappointed not just because of the onions, but because it was not a HASH. it was a vegetable medley with side of eggs. I was expecting a hashbrown with a side of vegetables and eggs. We were all very dissatisfied with our food, the veggies didn't even seem fresh, they also forgot our side of sausage. Waitress popped over after two bites and asked how things were and dropped the check and said 'no rush' but clearly she was rushing us out. We ate it because we had things to do but it was mediocre. Plus the restaurant had the audacity to change a kitchen service fee of 3%. what the heck is a kitchen service fee? is it because we didn't cook our own pancakes on the griddle? I WILL NOT be coming back here again ever! I did not take any pics of the awful food but i have the receipt. It was very expensive for such subpar tasting/looking food. Here's the deal, order 2 pancake batters so you can make complex pancakes, I suggest one light and one dark. Make the pancakes and eat them. This place is great for good kids, bad kids who don't listen to instruction might get burned once so be warned, the pancake griddle in the center of the table is hot! Our girls loved that they could make their own breakfast at the table. My toddler still talks about going back to Slappy Cakes! You can order batter that comes in a bottle to squeeze out and all the toppings are an additional cost. If you have a few kids like we do, this can add up but it was so fun that I didn't mind. The batter that comes in the bottles isn't enough for large adult sized pancakes so I would recommend buying a stack if that's what you're expecting. My husband ordered his own and he said they were delicious. I could tell that our two bottles wouldn't have made his 3 large pancakes. I got the avocado toast and potatoes and that was delicious. I ate at Slappy's several times during my stay in Maui. It was located right by my hotel. My favorite dish was the mushroom omelette. There was never a long wait time to be seated. Each table is set up with a griddle so that you can make your own pancakes. Really great for the kids and will keep them engaged so you can enjoy your food. Just keep an eye on them so they don't burn their pancakes. The loco moco was pretty good. I like the taste of the burger steak and the gravy. The banana bread French toast was 2 large slices. All toppings are a la carte and start at $2 up to $4. You are paying for the fun as the base batter alone is $10. Other batters are more expensive. So if you add a bunch of toppings or "upgrade" your batter, it gets super costly! Choice of maple or coconut syrup, and both are good. Restaurant is clean and servers were efficient.
