Ok, I never thought I'd be writing a review about self storage but I had to. Recently I found myself in a situation where I had to immediately move out of my house and consequently needed to find a place to put my stuff. Normally I'd have gone to one of the other name places but, I found this gem of a place. Not only did So-Cal have exactly what I needed but the units are climate controlled. Now, the reason for the 5 stars. Customer service!! The manger, Mario, is probably one of the coolest, most accommodating, and understanding people I've met in this industry. He worked with me to get a rate that worked for me, and not only got me the best deal but a unit that worked for me (for a price that was considerably less than other places). I walked in here without an appointment and was pleased with the clean, uncluttered, professional lobby. A lovely man named Ryan immediately greeted me and asked how he could help me out. He patiently listened to my long spiel about moving from NYC and the crap place I was currently at for storage. Once I wound down he asked me a few simple questions about my storage needs and we were on our way to see a unit. The storage area was clean and the unit size he chose to show me was exactly what I needed. He explained the costs and a few deals I could get and I was sold. I cannot stress how amazingly informed and personable Ryan was. I felt like I had a family member there looking out for me. He's also really funny. I've had my personal heirlooms in Sc Cal Self Storage in Northridge for over a decade and this company is miles above any other I've experienced. The facility is super clean, smells new, and incredibly secure when closed. The people are intelligent, helpful and responsive, David, Ryan and all the others are just great to talk to and if you have some issue or other, that you need help with, you need only ask once. I like the fact that the halls have names, (like street names). You cannot get lost. I've been late getting things done on more than one occasion and no-one every charged me anything, over and above the monthly. When i phone after hours the voice mail has always been for that facility, it just says push a button to leave a message for the manager. So Cal Self Storage is the finest in my opinion and I've had ten years of service from them. read more

I moved into this location a few weeks ago. PROS: new facility, super clean, climate controlled, great music! David, the manager is great, staff very responsive CONS: only open between 8-6pm or so. I had to pay $25 per half hour that we were past 6 when I moved in, So not good if moving from outside the area. Their phone system is funky, it rolls over to other facilities rather then to their vm, which necessitates a longer conversation. I am giving a 4 because overall pleased. I went in yesterday to drop off a few more things and the AC wasn't where it needed to be. The girl said she'd let David know and get it adjusted. I thought to myself, "yeah right". But, sure enough he called me a couple hours later to let me know it had been addressed. Now that was good customer service! I know the facility is new, so think most of the kinks have been worked out, so giving it a 4 star rating!! read more

If I could give double or triple the five stars I would. I was so fortunate to get in contact with Ryan after our close date fell through and he was the most helpful, kind person to me during what potentially could have been a disaster of a move. He quickly provided me options to store my household goods and provided options on perferred access etc. We ended up not needing the storage in the end, however if I ever need it he will be the first one I call. I went to the see a unit with my grandma for her to use, I found the place to be so clean with very calm vibe all around. It's a wonderful temperature inside, absolutely clean, all enclosed units and a very nice place to store your stuff. There's great lighting and music playing, really a pleasant visit and rental all around! I really recommend it, we tried uhaul and they were not helpful and their units could not compare. read more

Great experience opening up a unit here. Ryan was beyond friendly on the phone, and Mario and Julian were accommodating to my various questions / needs. There's a truck you can use for moving, water & coffee (which is nice if you have hired moving help, too), a few flatbeds. The only downside here is the open hours - it really does make access a weekend-only affair unless you are one of the lucky few available 9a-6p during the week. Would suggest adding a gate and keypad for building access 6/7 to 9a as well. read more

Just submitted a quote online this morning around 8:45am and by 9:45am, Ryan the Asst Manager called, reserved my unit, and will be ready to meet me this afternoon. If that's not AWESOME CUSTOMER SERVICE i don't know what is. UPDATE: i came over around 5:05PM since it rained hard in the afternoon, met with Ryan and he let me know the facility closes at 6PM. Instead of signing me up today, and charge me one day without using the locker, he advised me to sign up tomorrow instead and take advantage of the whole day. Way to go Ryan, who does that anymore? I really wanted to love this place. At the outset they seem friendly and accommodating. But after I signed everything, then the cracks started to show. First, the light in front of my storage was dead. Only one on the floor. It made it impossible to see inside the storage without a flashlight. I informed them the day that I noticed it and the person upfront said they'd notify the manager asap (this is going to be the theme of this review). Next month, still a dead light. Then I went overseas and came back a month later and still the same problem. I literally waited there to ask someone to fix it and I think it only happened because the custodian was on site when I asked. Next, I use quickbooks so I like having logins and paying things online. After following their instructions in person, I logged in to find....nothing. My storage unit wasn't recorded in their system. So far, I've called or spoken about it every month for close to 5 maybe 6 months now. Nothing. Everytime, the answer is "I'll let the manager know asap." EVERYTIME. So either A.) They're not letting the manager know. or B.) The manager doesn't care. Either way, it's really not a good experience. Lastly, my name. When I signed up I gave them my Drivers License and they filled out all my info. Except my last name was spelled incorrectly. It's a small thing to complain about, and I didn't care about it at first, only politely asking them to correct it, but it feels like the warning shot that I should have paid attention to. I called again for my monthly, "Please fix the online and; a manager will be with you" talk. This time, I was audibly annoyed and the gentleman on the phone assured me he will let the manager know and they'll give me a call back tomorrow. If they do, I'll either let this review stand or I'll add a star. If not, for everyday I don't get a callback I'll just decrease stars for every business day until there's nothing. That's three business days. I'd hazard a bet, but no one should take it. read more

Great place to store your stuff! Clean facility, no issues (other than I wish it was open a bit later) They let you use a moving truck to transport your belongings to their facility, which is very convenient. Ryan, the assistant manager, is very friendly and helpful. It sucks to need a storage place, but if you do, these guys make it pretty painless. read more

Juan is super responsive - promptly answers the phone and all of my many questions. The self storage units are temperature controlled and very clean. They have locks and mattress bags on site to purchase to easily protect our belongings. The price is good compared to other units in the area. read more

Started leasing a storage space with SoCal Self Storage yesterday. Mario and Jenniffer were very helpful and professional in every way possible. Even though the unit size I leased did not qualify the the 50% off of first two months, they were nice enough to give me half off of the first month. On the second day, I rented their truck to move my things in and it only cost me $19.95 for the entire day. To make that even sweeter, Ryan helped me out to make everything even smoother than it already was. Hands down, the best customer service I've received in L.A. since living here for the almost 2 years; this storage facility was more similar to four-star hotel concierge. The entire building, including the units were really clean and they had a conference room you could use if you needed to fit some work in while you moved. The restrooms were always kept stocked and smelt good too, major plus. My living arrangements weren't confirmed when I moved in, so the month-to-month the moving truck was available for free. The two guys in the main office, David (Property Manager) and Ryan (Assistant Manager) were not only knowledgeable, professional and polite, but they had best attitudes. That's exactly what you need when you move, because you're already stressed out so much. - My first day at the facility, Ryan went out of his way to answer all my questions. I was shocked to learn he was fairly new. Seemed like him and David had been working for together for years; because, if Ryan didn't know something, then David would be right there to back him up. - If it was hot outside and they noticed me making a few trips back and forth, they would offer me a few water bottles. - If David noticed I was struggling with the elevator, he would put a special code to keep the elevator doors open. - If all the flat bed metal carts were being used, they would take initiative to grab you one from the back. David and Ryan helped me in any way they could - and it made the world of difference just to know they cared that much. The best part was when I was moving out...they gave me a file. it's a pretty genius really. Best marketing I've seen in awhile. I would definitely recommend this place to anyone. read more
