A laid back and fun addition to South Tampa! I stopped into Soho Saloon for a Sunday Funday this past weekend. Here are the things I liked about it: 1. Touchtunes. You can never go wrong with a jukebox stocked with good music. 2. Bar games. Pool and shuffleboard. Both a lot of fun. 3. Indoor and outdoor seating options. Depending on the time of year, I differ on whether I like to hang inside or outside. Soho Saloon has options. 4. Quick service and well priced drinks. Nuff said. Fun bar. Not a lot of frills. Not sure if I would try the food, but a great place to hang nonetheless. read more

Probably once of the tiniest little bars in all of the SoHo area. We were passing by Tuesday evening and decided to stop in to see what was going on. They have a bar located indoors, and one out. Inside, they have a bar pool table, which was nice and it appeared that pool was free, though we didn't ask. The house cues seemed to be in pretty good shape, and that was impressive. We almost dared to pick one up and duke it out for a game or two, but decided against it because we wanted to get over to HPC. They also had some karaoke going, and people were actively participating, which was not good news to my ears, but good for business and a few laughs; it was cool. Parking out front was limited, and definitely not designed for the max capacity of the establishment, but what do you expect on South Howard? Chances are that we probably wouldn't go back unless we were in the area and wanted to play some pool because I'd certainly rather go back here than go to The Rack any day. read more

The most rude and untrained security I've ever seen. Gave the first bouncer two forms of picture ID (license and student ID) and he gave me a hard time. Handed me off to another guy who manhandled me by grabbing my arm to push me to another guy two feet away. This was at the beginning of the night as well and I was completely sober so I feel it was uncalled for. Totally unacceptable behavior. Next time I'll go across the street and spend my money there, where the bouncers aren't assholes unless they are given an actual reason to be. read more

On Sunday 16, 2017 My Wife and I went to that place to drink a beer, smoke a cigarette, eat a little and have a good time. We are a regular couple 15+ years marriage with 2 kids and on ours early 40's I got an important phone call, so to hear the conversation better I step out and talk in the parking lot; when I came back I notice there was a gate near to our table and I attempt to open it. I notice it was tie down with Zip Ties, so I went around and enter using the main door. We were sitting outside, finishing our first beer and eating chicken wings when a very big and tall bouncer came to our table claiming that I can not do that and we have to cash out. He told to us that the "his" bouncer saw me jumping the fence and because of it we need to leave; and that had been of a problem for them resulting in lawsuits, so we need to leave or else... We could not believe ourselves, our escape little night was ruined by a misunderstanding and they did not gave us the chance to even try to proof that I did not Jump that fence to enter, they were extremely rude to me and my wife, bouncers star pouring to the scene and the situation turn really tense and hostility from then escalate towards Us.We demand to talk to the manager and reach to the video from cameras installed at the front door so I can prove I did not jump that fence. They instead told us that they do not have time for this and continued harassing us to leave. My wife was very scare and at that moment I realize that it would be impossible to attempt a civilized dialog with them. Those actions were an act of public humiliation to us, however it clearly shows what kind of people they are. Definitely we are not coming back to that place, I understand that in that bar a lot of juvenile people hang out there and some may attempt to do stupid stuff. That is not Our case and: Come on Man! To make that story up on me, harass patrons, and scare people like that is uncalled for. For More I try to wrap my mind about it I can't. So We do not want anything from you, I just Hope that clown of self called manager, who ruin our evening to be at least man enough and check on the video recording from the camera and once they realize that I was telling the truth which is: I DID NOT JUMP THAT FENCE! take a deep breath and put the nicest of faces for the people that put you there as bouncer as a reminding that you will go nowhere from there! Doorman/bouncer jokingly called me "Julio" because I'm Hispanic. Not really the best way to get patrons to spend money. I didn't even enter.

The place on the outside looks nice. There are better options on Howard though next door and acroos the street. Food is okay, I'd reccommend the wings. The design of the place makes it extremely cramped on weekends. Like can't move at all, which is okay at times. The problem is there is only one urinal in the whole building. The reason for the 1 star is the security staff though. I won't get into the eye-opening interaction I observed with their customers, but I just will say the golden rule isn't applied here, let alone providing good customer service. read more

Not tourist friendly. Came in heels and got kicked out before we even finished our drinks because we were standing in the wrong area. The guard threatened to shoot my partner with a taser who was in a suit and confused about policy. So we stood on a sidewalk and were told that was too close. I waited in line for 29 minutes only for them to refuse me because they didn't believe my id was real. I had to go up to a police officer to confirm it to them and then they wouldn't let me in because "it was full". I've been here before and talked to bounce but he he did not remember me. This place needs to get rid of the "short barback" with the backwards cap and the tattoo below his right eye, he displayed the worst customer service I have ever experienced. I ordered a Red Bull Slushy that tasted like pure rubbing alcohol, I had one taste, then I ask the "short barback" if I can have a beer instead. His response was "No, you ordered it you have to drink it. If you want something else you have to pay for it. " Alright, hold up!!! I work and have worked in the service industry for over 15 years at night clubs, fine dining, and in causal cocktail bars. I have never experienced this kind of negative attitude over one drink the cost of $5 I can understand a $50 steak but come on! No matter what never tell a customer no! Ok, so this kid is not suitable for customer service plain and simple, some people have the aptitude to be in customer and some don't and this guys does not. He argued with me to the point where I had ask for the Mánager and the Mánager gave me a bud light to replace the nasty drink. Then after that I told the "short barback" " your asshole ways will never get you far in customer service and you shouldnt be in customer service." Then shortly after two bouncers came to escort me out with my girlfriend and friends where we were celebrating her birthday! The bouncers were kind enough for me to finish my beer, but as I was waiting I asked the two bouncers why I was being escorted out, their response " I have no clue man." This was my first bar venture since quarantine ended and after patroning the establishment for close to 3 hours, having spent a few hundred dollars between my group of friends, dancing and enjoying ourselves-I go to make out with my girlfriend and within 10 seconds am told we have to "sit down" or be kicked out. Now, why was everyone else standing in the bar not told to find a chair and sit down? I asked the reddish haired, burly, security guard with the caved in nose (did not get his name) why if we'd been dancing and standing all night, as was everybody else, why we had to sit down? He explained it was new protocol which would be fine if there had been some kind of warning at the door or if everyone else had been abiding by this supposed "rule". When I motioned to move outside and explain to the rest of my group what had happened, this same aggressive security guard follows me and yells at all of me and my peers to find chairs or we will be kicked out in the rain. Not sure if this was discriminatory, but during the month of Pride I found it particularly offensive and will never be visiting soho saloon again and neither will my 6 friends. I've been here after the renovations. Good service usually. Tn I came on a Tuesday for $3 corona deals. On my second beer the bartender charged me 5.50 which she asked for more $$ after I gave her a 5. After the extra dollar I waited in which she said oh did u want ur 50 cents. I said no keep it as I watched my friends go back for more coronas only charged $3 from other bartenders. I said something to the other bartender ab her overcharging... but ironic as not only was it my birthday which was visible by a bday pin but I watched her serving men their coronas for 3 bucks! I sat a little waiting for a friend. I saw the bar tender (not even a waiter or waitress) go outside and bus tables. The people on both tables had dogs with them. Of course the bar tender not only pet the dogs but let them lick her hands and slobber all over them. Then she comes back behind the bar. You think she would go wash her hands, NOOOOO .... hand sanitizer?, and business as usual. The other bar tender, was taking the trash out, his hands went in and out of the trash cans pushing and shoving stuff down. After that he took the trash to the dumpster outside. No hand washing needed, came back and got to serving people. I saw enough but the person I was waiting for arrived and she did not have much time for us to move. She got a glass of water, I asked for a bottle of beer (no lime no lemon), and I almost never order bottles in a bar, what is the point. I just felt this was the safest bet. This used to be a fun place to come, now the bouncers are super aggressive and a liability to the business. Recently I was there having a conversation with a acquaintance of mine, all of a sudden I am ambushed by 4-5 large African American bouncers, as I am attempting to walk out and being compliant, the main bouncer with dreadlocks comes from behind me (meanwhile 4 other men are pushing me) and he states "I will break your f***ing neck". I am filing battery charges on all the bouncers at Soho Saloon and will never return there again. It is a trash environment and do not recommend anyone trying to go there. I was here Friday night with a group of friends when my phone got stolen. It is an ongoing occurrence that has apparently been happening for many weeks now. That night three peoples phones got stolen. You need to be aware of your things as my phone was taken right from my purse as I was ordering a drink from the bar. The management was very responsive to my concerns but it's unfortunate that a situation like this happened in a place I thought would feel safe. Awesome service ! If you want to go have a super chill but still lively place with your friends this is a great place to visit on soho. We met the owner and were personally very impressed. Karaoke and free pool? Hmmmm...After stuffing face nearby I moseyed on over to this here saloon. It doesn't exactly look like a saloon, and it's pretty much tucked in the midst of Hyde Park's "drunkard row". Tony was hosting karaoke there that night, and he's always great. I noticed the quarter pool table had the ball window removed, so I'd probably assume that they were offering free pool, although I didn't have the balls to try it during such moving, live power ballads. This place is really new, and hasn't had a chance to make a name for itself. I did go in the middle of the week and there were a note worthy amount of patrons, but not going out of my way to head back to a dive bar smack in the middle of probably a dozen other notable bars in Hyde Park. read more

I'm either getting old, or everyone is getting young. I went to Soho Saloon for a friend's birthday (it was our last stop of the night) and I swear, I had to blink a couple of times to make my eyes weren't deceiving me by placing high schoolers in my midst. You have to be 21 to get in, but if someone told me that everyone in the bar had a fake ID, I would not have been surprised. With the youngins comes obnoxiousness and loudness and stupidity, which you can probably find at any South Tampa bar, but this was way overboard. Add to that the fact that there is a jukebox and one pool table and every surface in here is sticky and gross, and I think I'll skip this one from here on out. read more

This is the worst bar on the entire strip. Do not waste your time here when you have so many other options. At Soho Saloon, the bar tenders only respect you if you tip well otherwise they call security to kick you out. For reference, a good tip has to be better than 50% of your bill. I tipped $1 for a $2 drink and got kicked out for it. This place is a joke. Unless you wanna tip an insane amount for bad service, don't bother. Monday nights .30 wings and $3 domestics. This is what makes it worth checking out-and I'm not talking Beef O' Brady wings, I'm talking jumbos with house made sauces. Did I mention they're 30 cents? Free Pool, the usual sports on HD and the bartenders are great (Hey Chuck and Stacey). I drive from Seminole Heights and skip the usual SoHo meat markets.
