We stayed in an Airbnb within a few hundred feet of this cute little place. This is where the best breakfast anyone has ever stumbled into, is served. We tried several things on the menu: the farm toast, the breakfast tamale, the breakfast sandwich, the pound cake with coffee jelly, the cheesy grits, and the songbird and vanilla lattes. We can't even say which item was our favorite because each one was delicious, flavorful, and unique. The coffees were smooth and sophisticated. Every person on the staff came out to greet our dog and make conversation about the food, our travels, and dogs. The staff was extremely gracious and we felt we had found new friends. We can't say enough good things about our experience at Songbird. If we lived in the area we would make this an every Sunday stop. The combo sandwich was the perfect mix of savory, salty, and a slight hint of sweetness -- truly my platonic ideal of a breakfast sandwich. The pound cake was also deliciously moist, not too sweet, and a wonderful accompaniment to coffee. Can't wait to go back and try everything else on the menu. More than that, service was wonderfully attentive and anticipated needs we didn't know we had. My friend came with her toddler and they brought us a separate water cup with a lid AND an on-the-house grilled cheese to keep the little one happy and occupied. Great breakfast! Street parking is available. Currently the front entrance is not accessible so we entered through the side. I had the farm toast which was very rich but delicious. Based on the way the menu is phrased I assumed you could add an egg and ham to the existing menu listing; however the savory option removes some of the sweet components. I would definitely try the savory option going forward! Recommend for a weekday brunch, and based on how crowded it was I would definitely recommend getting there early if going on a weekend! read more

Incredible! We got the COMBO breakfast sandwich and the sprouted grain English muffin with Turkey sausage. My husband and I split them and we couldn't decide which was our favorite because they were both so delicious! The sweetest of the bacon paired with perfect sourdough and sprinkle of sea salt on the COMBO is perfection. BUT don't sleep on the English muffin...that brown butter aioli and pickled onions paired with the Turkey sausage patties. I would order them both again and again!! The English muffin was my favorite of the two, the English muffin was perfectly toasted and wasn't soggy by the time I brought it home. The place was pretty full. I sat at the counter and they brought me water and then I ordered. Though they had a breakfast tamale I wanted to try I went with their classic sandwich. I was concerned because it had honey on it. They brought me some good, hot, black tea. They spent a lot of time making coffee drinks. They are with the Sump people at their new place. It is either next door or part of it. Anyway... the tea was good but the sandwich was unstoppable. Courteous service. Pricy for a cup of tea and a sandwich but I am an old man and out of touch. The place was packed when I left they have a big front door that swings open and let's say draft in, but it is worth being a little cold. Go to this place. Songbird was recommend by multiple friends and it lived up to the hype. The owner was taking names and seating customers and she was incredibly kind: she offered to seat us outdoors since it was available first and then let us move inside if it was too hot out. Our waitress was equally great, gave us a rundown of the menu and little history of the restaurant. Our group of four split two of the combo sandwiches and two of the breakfast tamales in addition to an order of the seasonal french toast and a side of the cheddar grits. Everything was incredible. This is a lovely upscale little cafe. The farm toast (I think that is what they called their French toast) is amazing. I would suggest avoiding the caramel drizzle on the plate though, because with that, it was too sweet. I was a bit put off by the coffee prices because I was jet-lagged and in need of quantity. The regular coffee is about 4.50 for a cup, plus 1.50 for refills. Having never paid that much for regular coffee, I opted for the cappuccino at 5.50. It was small and not very hot. Service was okay but not perfect. I got up to get myself a spoon and sweetener after the coffee was delivered. read more
