I had a wrap with beef and lamb along with a side quinoa salad. The pita bread around the wrap was very hard and dry while the veggies were soak in sauce, making them very soggy. The meat and sauce were good. The quinoa in the salad was very clumpy and not enough sauce causing it to be very dry. I have fond memories of eating doner kebab in some of my globetrotting world travels, and I was excited to see a doner kebab place near me when I first moved into the area...5 years ago. Over time, I've driven by this place countless times but simply never made a stop. So glad I ordered for takeout today. I ordered the remix bowl through GrubHub for pickup ($14.75, which is a slight markup from the $13.50 menu price). Really liked that there were customization options built into the app. The chicken was outstandingly flavorful, the crispy chickpeas, olives, quinoa salad, dressing--basically everything was bursting with flavor. So, so good. They have a tiny parking lot that fits like 2 cars, so don't count on it. Street parking is almost always taken, so plan on double parking to get your takeout order. The covered patio is open for sit down dining. The staff is super friendly. I showed up early and although they quoted me a 15 minute wait, they brought my food out to me about 5 minutes later. Spitz is amazing! I ordered online for pick up and it was ready right when I walked in, about 15 minutes. I ordered the Mediterranean wrap with chicken, lamb and beef without olives. The sauces inside were garlicky and a little tangy. The cabbage, green peppers and tomatoes added a nice crunch and the wrap didn't fall apart at all. Super convenient and an awesome saucy doner wrap! The parking is tight I would recommend street parking. The outside has plenty of seating and it is a nice little hidden restaurant from the busy street. "Spitz" is what you expect to be in your food after eating here for the first time. Really disappointed as I was recommended this location. We had the Cart fries and Mediterranean wrap with two fountain drinks. Mediterranean wrap had a long hair on it. Wrap also must have been sitting a while because all the cold ingredients were room temp. "Freshly brewed" shangria tea ended up making me sick as we waited for our food. Fountain soda I replaced it with tasted like bad diluted tap water. Everything was like $40+ which is ridiculous for the quality and hygiene (or lack thereof). Didn't get a receipt even though I requested one and people skipped in front of us to order because the employees weren't attentive to non-mobile customers. Outdoors seating was nice and empty and they brought the food to us. Wait wasn't that bad and person I was with enjoyed the cart fries. This is good fast food. I would come here over chipotle any day. Taste: I got the Berliner chicken wrap. It was really tasty, meaty and good portion of bread:filling. Savory, tangy, not too salty. Gurlfrand and I were all ready to get the famous döner, but bad timing due to a sudden dearth of meat led us to decide on simply ordering fries. How does a place that depends on selling lamb and beef run out of meat? Well, they did that day. So we had to go veg. Spitz fans swear by the Street Cart fries, but those include garlic aioli and green bell peppers, neither of which I am raring to chow down. Because who wants to feel bloated, gassy as well as having your breath repel erryone after a snack? So, Berliner Fries it was. They might as well have been a Chipotle or Guy Fieri creation-- a kitchen sink, everything in there dish. Fries consist of sweet and regular potato, topped with dice of cucumber, shredded carrot and cabbage slaw, sprinkle of feta cheese, chopped up olives, pepperoncini, hummus, tsatsiki and Berliner red sauce (whatever that is). Spicy seasoning coated the deep-fried starch sticks. Despite it looking a mess, it all somehow worked, we were beyond hungry and ate every last bit. Unfortunately food was very slow in arriving. The kitchen was slammed on a Sunday evening. Took a while to get our order, way longer than should for fries. I do like the cosy patio, full of tables spaced out nicely. Inside barely has seating, feels claustrophobic, so eating outside on a warm day is best. We parked in their lot, lucking in to the first space at the entrance.. yeaay double J.T. parking karma. I would go back to try more stuff, and just to be sure I'd call them and do an Arby's check: "Do you have the meats today?" to which I expect them to respond, "Yes, we have all the meats." read more

The meat is flavorful and tender, the side of harissa (I think it's harissa) adds a perfect kick/tangy flavor. The pita strips are semi soft and crispy on the edges, so good. My other order is the street cart fries with half regular fries and half sweet potato fries. This is like your Spitz version of "carne asada fries." Super indulgent and definitely a hefty order. This place is amazing! The two young men working on St. Patrick's Day we're doing outstanding work. They appeared to be busy with takeout orders, and they worked together and worked very quickly to help all of their customers that were in the restaurant. The food is absolutely delicious. The wraps are a fantastic size. Nothing needs to change. Yes, the restaurant is small but it has a large outdoor seating area with coverage overhead for a sunny day. I've tried the street cart doner which was good as were the street cart fries, the sweet potato fries (my boyfriends fave) and a few other items I can't remember too well but the Medi bowl is always my favorite with beef and lamb. The service tends to be quick and never had a problem with it. When you do get what you order from Spitz, it's often pretty good. Admittedly, they went through an iffy stage (with really subpar food) but they seemed to get back on track. You still have to pull out the brown paper that's tightly wrapped into the Wraps, but... hey, I've gotten used to that. Sadly, getting what you actually order (for takeout) is still problematic. The App helps, since if you previously tried to call in an order you were left on hold forever. But the items carefully packed into the Covid-friendly stapled bags, are not always correct. I'm not sure what I got today - it seemed to be some sort of mush - but there was definitely no meat, and certainly not what I ordered. This was not the first (or second) time, but with the crazy rain today in LA, today I really couldn't be bothered trying to reach out or going back. Spitz was once a small local startup, but, just like Starbucks, expansion has diluted its appeal. Accumulating those in App rewards no longer holds the luster it once did. I loved Spitz when they were in Los Feliz and now I love them even more since they are closer to Pasadena! The Street Cart fries are my go to with the beef and lamb and the skinny fries and sweet potato waffle fries. I usually get extra zesty feta too. Though you really can't go wrong with anything. All the flavors go well together and you can remix it however you want with this modern Mediterranean street food. There is a patio but I usually get pickup, which they have set up very efficiently. I gave this place a second try today and it did not disappoint! First time, was during the pandemic and could only order to go. :( When we ate it at home, the food was dry and just not good I had decided not to go back. The street cart fries are super crisp and come fully loaded with garlic aioli, feta cheese, onion, green pepper, tomato, olives and pepperoncini. Every bite was full of flavor. If you are a fan of fries with lots of toppings, I would definitely recommend! The meat inside the street cart wrap was a little dry, but the garlic aioli helps with that. Big fan of them FRIES! I had the Berliner wrap with chicken and it was good but I didn't really like the texture of the chicken meat - it felt kind spongey or processed in some way. I prefer the gyro chicken meat at Ta-Eem Grill on melrose, which has more of a regular chicken texture. But the fries here though!
