This place is a joke. They obviously do not value their customer. We went to see a drag show and paid the $25 for "VIP", which got us NOTHING but a 2 second picture that we never got to see. We were sitting off to the side of the stage talking when security barged in and started yelling at everyone to leave. I mean literally screaming at us like we were doing something wrong. We asked what was going on and they said that they needed to set up the VIP area. Why not just say that in the first place. So we left and went next door for a drink. We came back a little after 1:00 and security again yelled at us that the bar was closing. We showed our VIP pass and they finally let us back in. But what the hell? What's with all the yelling at your customers? We were not drunk or unruly or doing anything wrong. If I wanted to be yelled at all night I could visit my mother-in-law for free. read more

I came here to visit a few friends on a Friday night, I am not gay but was asked to hang out by some friends, I have to say I really like this bar for these reasons: 1. The bartenders (upstairs) were so freakin nice, I ordered a drink they had on tap, it ran out mid way and the bartender did not charge me, but I still gave a great tip because that was so sweet and great customer service, and in general they were just so nice and welcoming. 2. The Dancers are very cute, more cuter than the ones in SF, they as well were so sweet and fun. 3. The DJ: the DJ upstairs played awesome house music from start to finish of my time their. My intentions were to stay for 2 hours, I ended up hanging out til closing because of the music. 4. I love the patio upstairs, you can smoke (which I wish they banned), because it is so packed and drunk people with cigarettes is all bad! and you can people watch on the balcony down to the street. 5. The security guy and assistant manager were so nice and welcoming also. I am not from San Jose, but very happy I found out about this place, because I would like to go again. Also, this place gets packed by 10pm, there is a cover charge -I didn't have to pay! ;-) If your in San Jose, Gay or Straight this is a cool bar for dancing and drinks with friends. The patrons seems cool to. I forgot how nice it was to leave SF and yonder into another hood for a good time. I really enjoyed it here. read more

As a man of a certain age I rarely make it to the gay bars anymore. Once in a while I venture out and I despair for the future generation. I was in tonight, I have a friend in town and I thought we would have a post pride drink . Unfortunately that was not to be. Splash makes money by selling drinks to thirsty people. It's a simple business plan. Not complicated. I guess, because I'm not young and my looks may have faded a bit (just a bit) I get ignored by the bartenders. I'm patient for awhile while people push in front of me, but when I speak up, I get loads of attitude. I'm successful in life and a generally patient person. I just can't deal with the disrespect thrown at me by the Bartenders. It is completely unnecessary and unacceptable. Sometimes we gays are our own worst enemy...We should try to be kind to each other. The bartenders, the security guards, the patrons are all going to age...Hopefully they won't have to deal with the ageism that I felt tonight at Splash. Happy Pride!! read more

This place is fun to go out on the weekends every now and again. They have great drink specials, and there are usually themed events on the weekends. It is arguably the best dance club in South Bay, but the crowd can be very hit or miss. read more

It's not a bad place to go and get some drinks (mine were strong) but overpriced. Had to pay a $10 cover charge, but it was my first time with an out of town friend, so might as well go big or go home, which we went home a little drunk, so you know we had a good time. Met some fun people and danced a little bit. Worth it if you're just looking for a fun place, but also if you're just looking for something fun to do, as there's like 2 gay bars in town. Fun atmosphere and cleaner looking that I had anticipated. The dancers make things lively. The bartenders are pretty quick considering everyone crowds the bar, and I appreciate the outdoor deck space to get air. read more

I am not sure if my experience is reflective of the place on a busy night, but I came here with a group of friends after a comedy show on a Wednesday night. The place was near empty until about an hour before last call, but that is ok because we were already buzzing & just wanted a place with music to dance & more drinks! The top floor was closed, and most people were not dancing, but hanging around the bar. Drinks were standard club pricing, but were of decent strength. The bouncers were nice, especially since someone in our group ended up being trashed & sitting on the sidewalk outside the place while we all took turns coming in & out looking after him. At no point were they rude or trying to get us to move. I would come back on a busy night to see this place in full swing! read more

I don't have too much of an opinion of this place. I've had an opportunity to check the place out twice now and I appreciate that it is such a large space. Plenty of room for a large group of people however, it sucks that everyone wants to be upstairs and it can get quite cramped on the weekends. The decor is nice. I have nothing bad to say about the visual appearance of the place but I'm not so impressed with the music selection or that they make you wait outside in the "line" just so they can look busy. Place is alright. Definitely a top option for the little selection our queer community has in SJ. read more

Came here on a Saturday night with a group. Security guy in front was really rude to us right off the bat. Bartenders were quite rude and snotty as well, drinks were expensive. Decent dance music upstairs and downstairs. Friendly go-go dancers and guys selling jello shots. Nice crowd of people. read more

Overall, we have been coming for four years now. I will keep coming back because of the good music, dance floor, and reasonable drink prices. Although I have noticed the prices continuing to soar, I find the drinks are worth what you pay for them, and should be bought all together to keep the bar moving quickly. Have been and will always recommend this place to all my friends who want to go out downtown. read more

I came here with a few friends and wow, the drink specials are ridiculously good. 2 for 1 is the way to my heart. The dance floor is usually popping off and they are always playing some music videos of you aren't in the mood to dance (although I don't know why you would come here if you're not coming to dance). Their upstairs area is spacious and the balcony is good if you don't feel like going all the way downstairs to smoke. Love this spot on a weekend... Tried coming in on a weekday for the first time and clearly 1) dead 2) special drinks are weak. It sucks to see regulars come in and them get attended first after you had already placed your drink and see the bartender make their drink double and once yours came around was beyond weak. I know you get what you pay for but I've bartended before and that was straight up club soda. I don't mind if everyone was being served that way but the regulars were not. I still tipped the girl cause I know what it is to be a bartender but it still sucked. I had to tell her to give me another shot in my drink and u would pay her another drink. It's normally a fun place to go. But avoid Club Papi nights like the plague. The line to get in is stupid long, the cover charge is exorbitant, so many people are shoved in that place that it makes a sardine can look spacious. Oh and there's the 40 minute wait to get a drink. That is if you get served... Go any other night of the week and it's a lot of fun. Or better yet go to Renegades. read more

I have been to Splash on a couple of occasions, but never for Ladies' Night. Every third Saturday from 6 to 10pm, we get to own the upstairs area, which doesn't become too crowded (at least not yet; ask me again in the summertime) which also means drinks are ordered and delivered quickly and we have a choice of dancing on the dance floor or outside on the patio. Being a proud member of the LGBT community..I am going to be honest(as always) I honestly like Splash..I just wish they would cater to more women! It is predominately men and last I checked, this was a GAY bar...There's gay women too! lol I wanna see more women gogo's ..the guys are great dancers...but...more eye candy for the ladies! If you're a taken les/bi woman ...then you'll have no complaints..if you're straight and just looking for a fun time without getting hit on every 5 minutes..you'll have a good time!...It is a fun place! Now..if the ultimate goal is to cater to mainly men..then scratch everything I just said..Overall..pretty good music ..could use a little more variety but not bad at all..friendly and fun atmosphere..nice venue! This is the best gay bar in San Jose. The staff are pretty cool and serve you the best they can. The environment is hipster like with tons of rainbow lights and video monitors. With live dj's and hosts 7 days a week 9-close. Mondays, fridays and saturdays are the best days to go in my opinion. The drinks can be a little expensive but well worth it. They also have dancers perform in their undies which is pretty cool and entertaining. Overall it's the chillest best bar and club in dtsj. read more

Love coming here! One of the only places for the gays to come out and party if you don't want to head out to the city. The ambiance is fantastic and love when they have club papi nights. Drinks are great here, you really get your money's worth. Never had a bad experience. read more

Splash is my favorite bar to go to in the downtown San Jose area. The bartender, David, was very friendly and helpful.

Ehh it's only cash which shouts TAX EVASIONNNNN. And the staff are rude. I'd rather go to San Francisco.

So disappointed tonight. We came on a Sunday because friends were from out of town . The drag shows were amazing! The girls worked it.... we were having fun, buying drinks, supporting the club... 2 stars.... until the fat Hispanic bouncer started checking us. My husband was dancing on the steps to the stage and he went up to my husband, and told him " if you do that again, I'll kick you out!",,, and he stood there, monitoring our group. Then another group, went on stage and started dancing crazy, he didn't say anything. He just stood There, with his arms crossed.... watching our group... so we left to get some hot dogs. Then returned on to the dance floor to dance, .... the fat bouncer came back to monitor our group again near the restroom downstairs, with his arms crossed, and a mean look, totally ruining our vibe. So we left...... sucks, because we are San Jose native.. and come to splash a lot. Tonight, we feel so unvalued as a regular patron. read more

First I had to pay 8 dollars to enter, and then I had to wait in the line for 30 minutes to get upstairs, and then I had to wait another 30 minutes to buy a drink because there are only 2 bartenders and so many people waiting to order a drink. Then I went downstairs to get another drink, and I realized I have to wait 30 minutes again to go upstairs. There was a guy who just wanted to go to the restroom, which is on the second floor, and he as been told he has to wait in line as well. NOw, tell me that is not humiliating. read more

It started out pretty good, and I was glad to see a new gay place opening in San Jose. However, it quickly turned into a place where you get charged a lot and get humiliated in return. Imagine this, you come here at 11:30 on a Saturday night. First, you need to wait in line for about 15 minutes while being constantly reminded not to block the right side of the door, and to be on the left side of the door. Not much friendliness there, just attitude. Humiliating, if you ask me. Then you come inside and realize that downstairs is half empty except for a huge line to go upstairs. Did I mention that mens bathroom is upstairs too? So after almost an hour, you finally manage to go upstairs (and to the bathroom). Then you need to wait to get a drink for 20 minutes as there are only two bartenders upstairs. I was served half a glass of beer as they ran out of the one I asked. Surprised after that much wait, I asked again for a full glass of another beer. I had to ask for it three times as the bartender kept insisting I should take the half glass. Finally, visibly annoyed, the bartender theatrically poured the first glass and gave my another beer. Yeay, what a pleasant experience. Ok, I finally had my drink and it was 12:45. The music stopped at 1:30. read more
