The food is beautiful and wonderfully prepared. Every time I order the fresh spring rolls. Like nowhere else - these are big, tight, dry and have a sensational sauce to dip. If I had known this was Thai food I would have tried it much sooner. I was happy to see so many items on the menu that I love and it's such a cute little place. Waitress was fast friendly and efficient, but I was the only one there. Food was quick. Nice and bright and clean place. I'm going to go back, but today was pretty disappointing. I got three different things to go, because I wanted to sample a variety. All three are things I've always loved at other places, but I couldn't eat any of these. Threw them away. I got the yellow chicken curry and the Thom Kha soup. Both were WAY- WAY too sweet. Upon reading the rest of the reviews I now see several other people said the same thing. Yup. The curry was as sweet as pancake syrup. Not kidding. I felt like the sauce was a strange dessert. Yuk. I expect Thom Kha and Curry to have some sweetness because of the coconut milk but this clearly had way too much sugar added on top of that and I just didn't like it at all. I have no desire to have my blood sugar ruined for lunch. Never had this experience with either dish and I have had them at many places. The spring rolls were good except I usually see some sort of noodle in there and these were all veggie (not my style). This of course is my fault for not reading the description more. I'm wondering if I just got very unlucky and ordered the two sweetest things on the menu, or if this is common there. I want to try it one more time and will definitely ask the waitress first if the item is sweet. We went in tonight for a friends birthday. It was just a complete mess. Drinks took forever, edamame took 30 mins. They took 45 mins to bring the soups out, missed a few in our party. Then missed some of the food for the kids. Salmon was overcooked. I am not sure what was going on but at the end of the night we had crying kids and hangry adults. I hope they figure their act out for their sake. We have so many great choices in Austin that I am not going back. At least I know what to expect at madam mam's. read more

Overpriced, small portions, subpar flavors We've tried this a couple of times now. The menu is way over priced for the amount of food we got. The curries we got came in a big ball, but then when got it, the ball was all the curry and they just put a few pieces of chicken and veggies. Definitely not worth the price. The flavor was OK though. They had a small scoop of white rice also that was too small. The padtai has a weird fish sauce flavor to it and we didn't really like it. The first time we tried it, we thought it was just getting the quirks out after initial opening month. But now they have been open for a while and they haven't improved. Will not be back.. there are better Thai restaurants around. read more

I have been here twice now. First time we ordered chicken sate, shrimp skewers,pad Thai and basil chicken stir fry. It was all delicious and fresh. The. We went again last night- the fried egg rolls were lacking filling, it was a few strands of cabbage I think and the 4th roll literally had NOTHING IN IT! My husband wanted to complain and I said but we have already eaten the other 2 mediocre ones and it will look like we are lying to get free food. Then the main course of Mongolian beef and pad ke mao chicken came. The chicken was pretty good. The Mongolian?! No flavor no onions (who puts carrot rounds and broccoli in this dish?) the beef was good quality so I took it home to remake a sauce and try to salvage it. I'm very excited to have a sit down Thai restaurant a 3 min drive from my house. They definitely need to add a phone number to their website. The hostess, who was also the server, was very nice. Started off with a Thai Iced Tea and it was less creamy than most, which is fine by me, and was delicious. Ordered the Fresh Spring Rolls and the Yellow Curry. Spring rolls dont have shrimp or tofu, but whatever herbs are in there are amazing. Was crunchy and tasty and the sauce was the best I'd had anywhere. The Yellow Curry was also delicious and good size portion. The manager came over and told us the full menu will be available mid September. I will definitely be back! read more

Went there with the missus for dinner. Nice place and people. The dumplings were excellent, but overpriced (4/$7). We had the red curry with beef and Panang curry with chicken. Both were as good as I've had - the Panang was rich and wonderful, the red curry was every bit as good. We will definitely be back! read more

SUPER tasty Thai! I ordered the Red Curry with shrimp and my husband had the Pad Thai. The Pad Thai had REAL chicken in it! Not the normal processed chicken that normally comes in Thai food. Major bummer, unfortunately. We were thrilled once we heard a Thai restaurant was coming to Belterra! We tried the tom kah soup. It was extremely sweet, I could only eat a quarter of it. For the price, it should have come with rice. The dumplings looked good.. but tasted like they just came out of a freezer. My drink showed up lukewarm. I have nothing bad or good to say about the curry. It was fine. Our server never once asked how everything was. I'm really hoping they're still working out the kinks. We will try it once more and revise this review if things get any better. First visit last night, but won't be the last! We were warmly greeted and sat immediately. Had a few appetizers which were both fantastic. But, the star of the show was the pineapple fried rice. Sounds a bit strange, but was by far the the best fried rice dish I've had in all of Austin. My wife had the Mongolian beef and it too was top notch. Last but not least, our server Brian was as good if not better than the food, relaxed, friendly, yet wildly efficient. The other staff (owners?) were also very attentive. Atmosphere/ambience/decor is that of a school cafeteria--cold, and plain. Tables in a row just like at school. Service was very poor. They forgot our appetizers and brought the entrees after a very long wait. Waitress could not describe or answer questions about the dishes. She said the curry I ordered was not sweet but it was as sweet as a desert. I ordered beef and got chicken, but was charged a dollar more for beef. The curry my wife ordered was the only curry not marked "spicy" and it was hotter than my "spicy" one. Seasoning was good, but too sweet. Manager (?) woman was overly eager but seemed out of her depth. When I told her we weren't happy she started pointing at the waitress. The whole place seemed unorganized. Great Thai in the hood! We got the Penang Chicken Curry and Basil Fried Rice with Tofu! Both were really tasty and flavourful. Curry had the right amount of spice for us! If you dont like spicy - you wont like it. But we were craving something spicy that day and it just hit the spot for us! Curry portion was HUGE! Both were $11. Friendly servers and good steamed dumplings are the only positive things I can say about this place. Its laughable that they call themselves a Thai restaurant because its the farthest from that Ive ever tasted in a Thai establishment. To begin with, I couldnt drink the ice water due to the smell and taste. My son and I both thought it smelled like dog food. And his chicken noodle soup smelled the same way and had absolutely zero flavor. for 11 dollars it was the worst soup we've ever tasted in a restaurant and any 2 dollar can of soup or 20 cent package of ramen from any grocery store would have been better. Steamed dumplings were good, but not worth 7 dollars for 4 of them! 12 bucks for their "beef phad thai" was a joke. I was super hungry and ate the entire serving, but it lacked all thai spices, flavors, and aromas that you get from any other restaurant and at FAR better prices. It was basically hot noodles with a semi sweet sauce of some kind. Edible but in NO way thai. Pad Thai, Tom kha soup and chicken satay are are staple orders and have always been very good. Actually the best Thai we have had in the Austin area. The Tom Kha soup, the crispy rolls, the Panang and the pineapple fried rice were perfect. Seasoned just right. Restaurant is clean with friendly efficient staff. Will be our top destination for Thai food. You'll find each dish full of the veggies, meat or whatever listed... each one matched perfectly.
