New found love for stans donuts, I had to order a dozen to fly with back to New York! We came in because there were so many locations near us we wanted to see what the hype was about. Great donut and coffee variety. Prices are about what I would expect for a specialty donut shop. I ordered online and picked up an order before I left Chicago which was very convenient. The order was accurate and ready in time. I tried several donut flavors, including vanilla glazed, apple crisp old fashioned, and chocolate peanut butter. I also tried the mint cold brew with cold foam. I found both the donuts and coffee to be a little too sweet for my liking but still enjoyable. Stan's Donuts kept coming up as a place to get good donuts in Chicago, we we decided to check it out. It was pretty busy and limited seating available, but we waited maybe 5 minutes before finding ourselves a table. I love cinnamon so I naturally gravitated towards the cinnamon cake donut and that probably wasn't the best choice. The donut was a bit dry and overall meh. I tried my boyfriend's apple fritter and this was much, much better. I also ordered a vanilla chai latte which I enjoyed a bit. This is one of my go-to drinks and Stan's serves a pretty solid cup! read more

I have always enjoyed donuts from Them but had a really bad experience today after driving an hour home opened the box of donuts for the family only to find a wire in the apple fritter. There are soooo many donuts to choose from! I wish there were labels and a menu of descriptions for all the different types would have really helped. When the staff member quickly recited the names, I couldn't remember and lost count of the number of times he had to repeat them. The cakey Chocolate Covered Donut was so unique and divine! I have never had a donut like it before. I wasn't a fan of the Vanilla Cream filled donut, the whipped cream filling was meh. Surprisingly, the hot Mocha was delicious! Glad to see Stan's stores around the city and not Dunkin Donuts or Krispy Kreme. I can see why Stan's is the staple for donuts in Chicago. Might be back to try a new flavor! read more

I knew this location wasn't there long, but I didn't realize it was within the month! Clean, spacious interior with over 40 kinds of donuts to choose from! There were even a couple bagel options, and the pretzel bagel was very fresh. I was disappointed that the biscoff pocket wasn't top notch fresh though. It was probably from a day or two before. Whomp whomp. If you do get the biscoff (cookie butter) pocket fresh, that is one of my favorite donuts. I also gifted away an apple fritter and buttercream bismarck. Other varieties you can find here are various old fashioneds, filled donuts, fruit flavors, the classic glazed and cake kinds, and even a rotating flavor of a cronut creation. read more

I went to Stan's for breakfast on a Friday morning in November and it was pretty busy, the line was to the door. Everything is bright and warm and puts you in the mood for some fried dough and sugar. Their display case is wide and bright and full with so many options that it was actually difficult to choose! I opted to get a few so I could have a treat later (and breakfast the next day). I got a buttermilk bar, a strawberry frosted, a coconut cake, and a cinnamon roll. They were all delicious, but I particularly enjoyed the strawberry and coconut. They were all chewy and doughy and well made. The staff was very friendly and patient. It was hard for me to decide when it was my turn, and they didn't blink. It was a reasonable price for a bunch of fancy donuts. I'll have to go back to try more flavors! read more

Definitely the nicest Stan's Donuts I've been to. Chic atmosphere, pink furniture, and wooden tables. I'd expect nothing less from Mag Mile. Came here for National Donut Day, where you get a free donut with every purchase. Coming at night, they didn't have some of the more popular donut choices but, even then, still plenty of the decadent options you can expect from Stan's! Highly recommend if you're looking for a place to chill on northern Michigan Ave. Just be aware the lines may be long and you'll likely have a tough time finding a place to sit, depending on when you go. read more

Woah, packed place! Line curves around and it's filled with a bunch of people, I'm assuming mostly tourists given the distance to all the attractions. I actually used the app to order to avoid waiting in line. But...they lost my order and I had to still wait in line to get it fulfilled, which was really disappointing as it completely defeated the purpose of using the online app in the first place. Not the place to keep COVID social distancing precautions in line. You're more like 2-3 feet between each other. Just keep that in mind when you go. read more

This is a cute, popular place in Chicago. But I don't think it's worth the hype. They have a good selection of donuts. A lot of cake donuts and a few raised donuts. I prefer a raised. I tried their pistachio glazed and their lemon espresso Bismarck donuts. When I get a raised donut, I'd like it to be light and not heavy. Unfortunately, there a pistachio glazed it was pretty dense and heavy. I took one bite and threw it away. There are lemon espresso Bismark donut was better. Ordered a regular glazed donut and a medium cup of coffee. The donut was light, fluffy and just the right amount of glaze. Best donuts in Chicago? Bold claim. And blatantly false, because these were some of the worst donuts I've ever had. Super sweet, artificial in flavor, and dry dry dry. We tried 5 flavors since they all looked so good, but we quickly found that the look was the best thing these donuts had going for them. The donuts we got: -Lemon Pistachio Old-Fashioned: We love lemon and pistachio, but the artificial lemon flavor was overpowering, and we could not taste pistachio at all. The texture of the donut was very heavy and dense. -Biscoff Pocket: We thought the biscoff would be more like a mousse or cream, but it was straight-up biscoff spread. As a result, it was very dry, especially paired with the dry hard donut itself. However, this was one of the few that we finished. -Coconut Cake: Very bland. Didn't taste much coconut. Just sugar. And once again, the donut was dry. -Carrot Cake: One of the better donuts we tried (and less dry than the others), but still not something I would come back for. -Pistachio Glazed: We found the flavor of the pistachio glaze off-putting, and it didn't taste like pistachio at all. Instead of bringing our donut leftovers to snack on at the airport like we'd planned, we actually threw them out. That's how bad these were. If you're looking for gourmet donuts in Chicago, do yourself a favor and go to Firecakes. The donuts there weren't exceptional either but they were so much better than Stan's in every way. read more
