I've gone to this Starbucks since my childhood and I love the fact that it's connected to Barnes and Noble. The service is fast just like every Starbucks (usually) and there is lots of seating: indoor and outdoor. The outdoor seating is peaceful and nice. I wish they had more items in stock like they used to such as Chai tea and little gifts, because I wanted to get one for a friend but they don't carry certain things anymore :( read more

Morning rush is always a good sign of popular business. Though their lines will always be long in the morning, this place dishes out their coffee in record time. Though my chai tea latte was a little warm (it could have been a little hotter) it was still good. 4 Stars Met one of my friends over here a few days ago. I haven't had coffee for a long time, but was tired from a long day of interviews and driving, so I finally had a chance to try the new Coconut Frap. Service was good....but Starbucks is pretty good about that most of the time. The drink was pretty good too, and kept me awake for a few hours of talking w/ my friend AND the hour and a half drive back home. They have a few tables outside where you can get fresh air and people watch, and they also have plenty of room inside if you'd rather do that. read more

This strabucks is pretty nice! It has a pretty big area inside and outside. Its not too noisy (for those who are trying to focus) and the staff is pretty nice and efficient. Would come back here sometime. Tips: Get the Sugar Free Mocha Iced Coffee if you want to get your caffeine in without too many calories. read more

Love this location! The staff is super friendly, and the store is always so clean everytime I go in. The coffee is great and they have a huge outdoor patio. My only two complaints is that sometimes its hard to find a table inside and I really miss the Barnes & Noble that used to be attached to it. I loved that! Even though I am within walking distance of this location I am tempted to stop coming here altogether. Why? Mobile orders. The mobile orders are tucked away on a counter so that they are out of reach and require a barista to get them for you. That would be fine if you didn't have run one down to get their attention, which negates placing a mobile order. I actually had a barista tell me my order wasn't ready (without looking at any of the cups sitting in front of her), and then 15 minutes later calls my name after looking at two cups that had been in front of her the whole time. It's pretty frustrating since other Starbucks don't seem to have this problem. The quality of the drinks have been fine, but maybe it's time to start making my own coffee at home... read more

Two baristas that could care less, a guy in the outside of the bar just standing next to the mobile orders, a guy that takes your order and doesn't listen and about four other people that are only there to apparently toast bagels. This starbucks is just ok. Spacious and has a lot of tables but can fill up quickly during morning and the evening. I say its just ok due to the crowdedness, somewhat sketchy people that seem to visit and bug you when your trying to work (female students, be warned). One instance, there was this lsdy who appeared to be homeless and/or a drug addict and she was going around asking people for a frapachino. When people said no she shouted obscenities at them and threw coins at them. Luckily she didn't get violent. Instead of the employees threatening to call the police they just stood there. One tried to ask her to leave but she didnt and from what i saw they didn't appear to do anything beyond that (ie call a security guard). read more

I had a disappointing experience this morning with a barista named Shashi. After standing where I thought the line was for a few minutes a customer walked in and went straight to the counter where he began to order. Confused, I asked the barista helping him, Shashi, why we had been skipped. She told me that I wasn't in line, rolled her eyes, and shrugged her shoulders before continuing to help the customer in front of her. She did not speak to me again, tell me where to go, or even apologize for the confusion. Shashi is rude and apathetic to customer experience. read more

Eight out of the ten times I go here, I leave mumbling the following: "I always say I'm never going to come here again and then I do, and they screw it up and I get frustrated and say 'I'm never coming back!'" I have a serious love/hate relationship with the Starbucks in the Encino Marketplace's Barnes and Noble. LOVE: That they rarely charge me extra for soy or sugar-free syrup. Of course, when they do, I get ornery. HATE: The parking situation, which is less conducive to parking and more conducive to parking-lot road rage. LOVE: The baristas tend to be laid back, nice, and they try to be accommodating. HATE: Either (or both) the cashiers and/or baristas are often illiterate, as somehow my drink inevitably gets screwed up somewhere in the process from when I ordered it to when I get it. Either someone can't write or someone can't read. Or both. "Ohh.... you wanted Light? This is regular." "Excuse me, I've been waiting 10 minutes and everyone's gotten their drink but me and I'm in a hurry." "Wait, what was your drink again??" "You wanted whip, right? (NO.)" "GRANDE MISTO!" "You mean Tall Soy Misto in a Grande cup?" "Uhh... no... But if you want me to remake it, I can." LOVE: That it's attached to a bookstore! Reading and coffee in the same place = fabulous. HATE: That it's impossible to get out in under 10 minutes, and lucky if you're in and out in under 15. I could go on, but you get the gist. I would recommend going to this Sbux under the following conditions: you're not in a hurry / hanging out with friends, you want to shop for books before/after, you're not planning on complicating your order WHATSOEVER (i.e. order off the menu; don't change it), and you think trying to find parking is a really fun, predatory game! DON'T go if: you're stopping quickly on your way to work, you like to customize your drink, you hate waiting in line, you're a Starbucks snob/perfectionist (which, truth be told, I kind of am). And yet, I have a feeling I'm going to break my own rule tomorrow morning as I convince myself that it's so close to my work I can stop in and be out in under 10 minutes with exactly what I ordered. ...And when that doesn't happen, I will repeat my Starbucks Lament, and repeat the vicious cycle. --UPDATE!-- I did indeed return the next day, where I waited 13 minutes in line -- incidentally, the cashier decided to stop taking orders and start replenishing the coffee carafes at the EXACT time it was my turn -- and, after initially not writing down 'soy' on my cup, the cashier still charged me extra. This is a great Starbucks. There is a huge parking lot so parking is never a problem. There is both indoor and outdoor seating with ample space for group meetings of needed. I've never had a problem with the service, but then again, I usually just get regular coffee. Bottom line: this is one of the better Starbucks. read more

The good: This place is conveniently located by Ralphs, CVS, etc, and has a really nice outdoor patio area. However, today I mobile ordered on my phone and when I walked in to pick up, they were out of what I ordered. Couldn't think of anything else that sounded good at the time, so I decided to just take the pumpkin bread I also ordered and get a refund. After politely telling the cashier that it was really inconvenient to drive there for nothing, she didn't even offer anything for my inconvenience and was less than apologetic. I grabbed my pumpkin bread and left, annoyed. - Started driving, and took a piece off the pumpkin bread (that I requested warm) to realize it was cold with a long black hair in/on it. Disgusting! Went to this location with my friend and the cashier misunderstood the drink order. After they made the drink wrong we asked "oh this was a misunderstanding we wanted matcha foam." The barista Roy yelled, "its all there." We responded, "this isn't the drink we ordered." Roy then yelled, "you should have said it right at the register!". My friend responded, "I did say it right it was misunderstood." Roy yelled back  "Don't tell me the routine!!" Repeating it. My friend who is a 15-year partner responded, "I understand it's frustrating when you need to remake a drink but I don't deserve to be yelled at!"This is when his coworker came up and apologized for owning his misunderstanding. Then Roy yelled, "I'm not making that!" The other barista started making it. This was the rudest display of customer service and I hope Roy changes his attitude because it's intolerable. Even the other customer in the lobby was shocked at Roy's rude behavior. I hope that the manager will train their baristas like Roy in good customer service. read more

Located in a plaza on the corner of ventura and hayvenhurst, this starbucks is one of the bigger ones ive seen. Service is decent. Pleanty of outdoor seating. Parking isnt an issue. Next to quite a few places to eat or if needed to go to the grocery store, in the same plaza as ralphs. read more

I like going to this Starbucks around the corner from our work it's always busy but trust me it's better than the Starbucks on Sepulveda and Nordhoff.
