My best experiences have been when I order ahead using the app then pick my drink up at the counter as soon as I walk in. This Is one of the best Starbucks I've ever been to. I was never really a fan of anything other than frapp's until I came here. It's right near the beach so it's really pretty and you can walk down the hill like two minutes and sit and see the ocean. The baristas all take care of you and make the drinks you order exactly how you want it. I've also been to others that have bad WiFi and this connections fast yo. Elsa is the most welcoming and efficient barista that I've ever seen and she just adds a factor of energy and happiness that spreads throughout the store. Marvin is a really cool guy too to talk to about random stuff. All in all this is a hallmark card for how a Starbucks should be ran and how the employees should treat you. read more

This rating is on service alone. This is the 3rd time I've been in this location within 2 weeks and had rude service each time. Once well before closing and for no apparent reason. Today my friend goes in to order tea 10-15 minutes prior to close and was told they couldn't make 2 teas for her because they were closing in 15 minutes. Last time I was at Starbucks (daily) a pour over takes 3 minutes tops. This location can do better on service personnel. I understand the desire to go home but until you're closed you're NOT closed. I'll be looking for somewhere else to take my coffee and tea business. read more

This location has a very different feeling since it is in such a small, quaint community. It is actually quite charming with the outdoor seating and nestled in with the other businesses. I actually love having it across the street from BR Coffee Roasters because I can have the best of both worlds and I frequent this Starbucks quite a bit. The staff is friendly, the bathroom is always clean, and they always are helpful in suggesting new drinks that cater to your preferences. This place is awesome. read more

Terrible, terrible customer service. The morning crew is mostly angry and unhelpful -- and sometimes even mute. Greet people when they arrive. Say hello, how are you, etc. What happened to the famous Starbucks customer service training program? It's obviously not training the crew at this Starbucks -- or indeed any Starbucks I've been to recently. Customer service at Starbucks declining across the board. Bummer. read more

One of my favorite study places although others must think the same because the inside tables are usually packed on weekends. They also have a mice outdoor seating area for car/people watching which can be fun in this part of town. The baristas have always been friendly and the drinks are the same as any other Starbucks. Alright, So this Starbucks gets 4 stars because it is ADORABLE. It has a cute inside and a great patio with tables outside, oh and it is literally steps away from the Ocean. I mean it does have an unfair advantage by being in Bird Rock already, but seriously, so adorable. I refuse to give the fifth store because NONE of the employees I spoke with were very pleasant! I have never been treated so rudely, especially by one of our neighborhood shops. Elsa was not only incompetent but was extremely dramatic and rude, causing an embarrassing scene as she was unable to explain the situation and kept taking an offense to what I was trying to explain. Not only did she try to charge my app twice but the receipt was $8 more than what I purchased. Each time I tried to explain this, she became more authoritative and condescending. It wasn't until someone who knew the register's glitch (??) were we able to resolve the issue. Apparently, the total on the receipt is not what you're actually charged?? Seems a bit odd that Starbucks is operating with such a glitch. However, by then I was so humiliated that I could not have cared less about the $8. I will never come here again. I decided to take this aimless walk down to nowhere as far south from the smell of the seals at the La Jolla Children's Pool along the beach that I could. After a couple of miles a few dunks in the water and 200 vacationers later I found the hugest sess pool of rotting seaweed and something neon glowing green that looked and smelled like some radioactive decay. Needless to say, I didn't go any further. Ok now the part about starbucks, luckily there was one about a mile from this place in bird rock. So at least that gave me somewhere to contemplate that nasty mess. The workers were in a jolly mood, although they seemed tired from a long day and I think one of them was talking to themselves. But no big deal, really. Now I don't know if I still had the stinging smell of radioactive juices on me or if I'm just a strange guy but everyone in that town kept giving me the stink eye. I don't know what that is about. I'm surprised the mothers didn't pick up their babies and run for the hills. In the end, I left, and never found out why. Maybe someone else knows. Every startbucks in PB sucks leading uo to this one to further piss me off. How in the fn world does starbucks not have COFFEE in the middle of the fn day??? All I wanted coming back fron LA at the 3 o'clock in the afternoon was a grande Christmas blend coffee. 1st Starbucks out of coffee. 2nd stabucks water got cut off last night so they... Idk even know why they were open to explain that to me. The 3rd damn starbucks does not brew DARK ROAST after FN ELEVEN AM!!! Which finally brings us to this fn disappointment, that just dumped their Christmas blend before even 5pm, "because they don't brew the Christmas blend after 4pm..." I would think since you're not brewing anymore for the rest of the day, you wouldn't actually throw out what's left... Or maybe that's just me... Who fn knows at this point. read more

I have been to this Starbucks almost every day for the last 6 months! Perhaps I have a coffee addiction, hm... Friendly staff, fast service. What can I say about Starbucks to Starbucks fans that they don't already know about Starbucks? When you need your fix, you make sure you get your fix. You're all professionals now! But if you are lucky, you'll find yourself getting your Starbucks needs taken care of in Birdrock. The cross street is Forward Street. If you've got a little extra time, point your toes forward to the ocean and take in the ocean view. You weren't planning on being "on time" for work, were you? Yeah, right. I don't typically go to starbucks -- I am a big on atmosphere and to me most starbucks feel stale and uncomfortable. This starbucks, however, is one of my favorite cafe's because of the ample outdoor seating. As a soccer mom this is just a few blocks from Bird Rock Elementary where they have games on Saturday. I was able to walk here (about 1/2 mile) through a very nice and quiet neighborhood, and there was a nice pedestrian crosswalk with lights so I was easily able to cross the street safely and directly into Starbucks. It was very busy, and there was a line, but the staff did not seem at all flustered by this. People were also waiting for their drinks by the bar, and there was a nice open space for everyone standing around. I ordered a grande iced mocha, and it was consistent with what I expected. Staff was not overly friendly, but I would say that was due to the fact that they were so busy. read more

Went to Starbucks for a doubleshot, I explained to the man I usually am not usually charged $.60 for almond milk, he took it off but said that I was getting it cheaper than everyone else. I was told by my husband who worked for Starbucks for years that milk for a double shot is the customers choice unlike some of their drinks where yes, they do charge you more. Why would I pay money for the milk I'm not getting in the drink and then another $.60 for almond milk. Newsflash, the drink is 90% ice to begin with, and if it's so important to charge people extra for a different type of milk you should at least give them .$.60 worth of it. Furthermore have some consistency between locations and baristas, or maybe don't take your job so seriously . you're selling over priced low quality drinks to begin with. I've been to most Starbucks in the area, and this one is one of the best. I've come here literally scores of times, and its a great place to get your cup of joe in the morning. It usually has a bit of wait in line (which one doesn't) but it has plenty of indoor and outdoor seating. Wifi has never had a problem. The staff is friendly, and if you're a regular, will get to know you and be personal. Coffee is usually pretty good. Its only open til 8pm, so if you're a late nighter, somewhere else is better. Also, they can get some stiff competition from Bird Rock coffee roasters right across the road! read more

This is the best Starbucks in San Diego! The staff are super friendly and fast. The store is clean and with their recent remodel it looks very sharp. I'd say my favorite part about this store is the patio- it's great for people and dog watching. read more

This location is alright. It's certainly less exciting than the location on Garnet. You won't have crazy homeless guys wandering in and causing a stir. It's very quiet if you can avoid the Real Housewives of La Jolla coming in and gossiping at the top of their lungs. Very few tables inside. Most of the seating is outside, and if you're a smoker be prepared to sit on the curb to enjoy your coffee. Fortunately I don't smoke anymore, but when I did it was such a "drag" having to be away from the tables to enjoy a coffee and cigarette. read more

Awful service, from both servers when I was here. I love Starbucks, and am a regular (I go to my neighborhood Starbucks all the time). This location I was served by two people - the first woman seemed tired and like she couldn't understand my order (I wanted extra berries in my drink), and when I came back for a refill, the man would not refill me for a tea (I ordered the Pink Drink, and I asked for a simple iced tea refill since he couldn't refill the "new drink".) He still refused. Every other location has refilled my tea drinks, without any issue or citing any "managerial rules." Sad to give any Starbucks a one star review but I would give a 0 star for service. Location, especially the outdoors, gets a 5 - there's a nice vibe, only ruined by the sour service. read more

This is a nice little Starbucks where I like to come and do work when I'm interested in a little social interaction. It's a clean facility and the staff is usually friendly. They do have a nice outdoor patio to lounge around at. I would go to the PB Starbucks but it's dirtier and the Internet isn't as fast. The only negative on this place is that they don't leave out non-fat milk (nowhere in SD seems to though, which has me perplexed). read more

This Starbucks has gone way downhill within the past 6-12 months in both speed and service. Why would a busy Starbucks such as this only have 2 people working at 11am on a Sunny Sunday and one of the 2 is both running the register and heating up food and today isn't just an off day, it's always like this now. Literally takes me 15-20 min to get an app ordered tea and coffee. As I sit here on a busy Sunday and wait for my phone order as usual 8-10 people are waiting in line and the same number waiting for their orders. read more

Truly great staff. Very friendly. But the place is always filthy. The upholstery on the armchairs is stained and disgusting. The new chairs (that replaced the old disgusting filthy chairs) are uncomfortable. Indoor seating is deficient and minimal. Outdoor seating is great. read more
