Looking for a place to work efficiently, I decided to try the Starbucks on Garnet Avenue. Like other locations, a wide variety of food, merchandise, and drinks were offered. The cashier was very helpful and informed me of the benefits of using the rewards app and even waited for me to register a card so I could earn points for this visit! My order came both promptly and correctly. This Starbucks was clean, quiet, and well air-conditioned. While it was certainly a nice break from the summer heat, I would suggest bringing a sweater if you plan on being here for an extended period of time. This is the slowest starbucks ive ever been to. Ive been here twice the last week while staying with a friend. Both times i waited for over 20 minutes before confirming that my drinks hadnt even been started, and had to leave empty handed because i couldnt wait any longer. I told them they could cancel the drinks both times and they seemed totally fine with that. Probably 7-8 employees and no line to order but only saw maybe 7 drinks made in that entire 20 minutes. Seemed like a lot of moving but just nothing getting done. Was trying to suprise my friend before her work twice and instead waited 40 mins, spent $30 and nothing to show for it. This is a very busy Starbucks and a lot of people hang out here. Worst service ever. Asked for a warm drink because I was going to have to drink it fast and ended up burning my tongue. I went back to let them know and ask for it to be remade warm. You would think after causing me to burn myself they would want to make the moment right, but they proceeded to clear out their entire drive through queue and clean an oven before even starting to work on my drink again. I just got SCOLDED by a barista for the drink I ordered. She began by asking me what I needed all this caffeine for. I put in a mobile order for an iced matcha latté with oat milk because I am severely lactose intolerant. The product I received had remnants of milk in it because I was sick to my stomach for two days now. The supplies they "wash" to mix and make the drinks are not thoroughly washed. There was absolutely no reason for myself to become sick and rush to the restroom all day long. Hence why I substituted milk with oat milk. I paid EXTRA to avoid dairy and still had hints of dairy in my drink. I could not stomach any foods and was beyond drained out from this. The size of my drink wasn't even big! That's the sad part. Please tell your employees to be more mindful when washing the materials because people with food allergies can still be affected. read more

I asked the girl, who made my drink in the soy blender to remake so I knew it wasn't soy and not to throw away a fourth of the drink. She starts arguing with me. It's a $5.45 drink. STFU and remake it without throwing away 1/4 of it. It's not about the shots it's because it's too weak in general. Don't argue with me just remake it. This Starbucks keeps the air conditioning on so high it regularly measures about 50 degree inside. It is painfully uncomfortable. Given the recent arrest of several African American gentlemen merely for existing in your space, I don't think trying to freeze out customers is a good look. I am told they can't do anything. It's 2018. Fix your air conditioning. I'm a gold member of your app. This is a busy Starbucks in a busy area. I get there are a good number of homeless in Pacific Beach. But don't torture your member customers by trying to drive people out by freezing them out. Shame. Other Starbucks don't do this. Shame. When the door doesn't close right, the FREEZING air condition automatically turns on and make the Starbucks an ice box. SAME manager is here, right now, and he knows it. Avoid. Update: they finally fixed the door, but it's still so cold some people wear hoodies inside. Also, there appears to be a man that camps out all day. Take the picture of this guy who is there on two different days. He brings two suitcases, one of which is filled with food. He'll bring an entire rotisserie chicken and sit there and eat it sucking off the bones as you're sitting next to him. Smelly and gross. That's what happened to me yesterday when I went in for my latte. He had a heap of chicken bones and was sucking them then licking his lips, then taking a snot rag blowing his nose, then wiping it down to his lips and using the same snot rag as a napkin, then using the snot rag napkin to clean his hands, and he put it on the edge of the table right next to me. I came in today for another latte, because I'm a gold member, and he was completely taken over a section. He had bottles of sauce laid on the table, Took out some hamburger patties and laid them on the table, then started pouring some sort of green sauce from a bottle on them, and eating them with his bare hands. Then he would take the bottle of sauce and instead of cleaning it off with a napkin, he wrapped his lips around it and then licked the neck of the bottle up and down. Then he took the snot rag from yesterday, the same exact one, and blew his nose, then dragging the snot covered rag to his mouth and used it as a napkin full of snot, and then cleaned just fingers with the greasy snotty rag! If you wanna spend more than 5 minutes at this Starbucks, then don't forget to bring your winter sweater, winter coat and your beanie. No kidding. Inside here is freezing cold. Winter or summer doesn't matter their ac is fixed on 50 or maybe even fewer. It is so uncomfortable to sit or hang out there. Other than this, they are fast, and drinks/foods are most of the time is correct. They are open for 24 hours, which is a plus. But, I prefer to order through mobile, go in and grab it and definitely leave as soon as possible. And whenever I need to sit and study or eat I to go to other coffee shops or other Starbucks just because of their a/c temperature. I like this Starbucks drive-thru even though it is smallish and you have to access the drive-thru lane from a grungy alley off Gresham Street. They even share a funky driveway with the next door Carl's Jr. Go figure! This morning I came through later than usual and there was no line! Lucky me! I have had bad luck recently with other Starbucks hassling me about my 7/11 mug and then this past Sunday on my way to church, the Sports Arena drive-thru sold me a cup of coffee loaded with coffee grounds. I am starting to get paranoid, so I was very pleased that this Starbucks had a great cup of Bold coffee-nice and strong! No hassle with my cup, no added coffee grounds! No bad attitude either! Very friendly staff with genuine smiles! Deducted one star for a feeling of this particular location being squished-in. When I have the time, I like to luxuriate with my caffeine, Here it seems like not an option with not a whole lot of room. If you are just trying to get your caffeine fix-this will suffice. Build a second level on with lots of Wi-Fi and a kareoke machine, and I will bump this yelp up to 5 stars! read more

This Starbucks location just completed a remodel this week and the refreshed paint and subway tile looks good. I wish they had more seating in this store as well as more power outlets. A number of us patrons had hoped that the remodel would increase the amount of power outlets available. Currently (I believe) there's only four outlets on the wall for AC power. Not very conducive to charging laptops and cell phones, but I suppose that limits the amount of time people camp out in Starbucks. This location is always well staffed, has its own parking lot and a drive thru to serve patrons who are in a rush. The staff does a great job of always keeping the store clean. read more
