He is just who he is... a little curt, but also kind of funny in a Joe Pesci-kind-of-way. And, I am thrilled to say that I L-O-V-E their seasonal Carmel Apple Spice drink! It is delicious! But, in all honesty, I still can't give any Starbucks more than three stars. Yes, I go there for an occasional mocha or seasonal drink, but they are soooo overpriced, and their coffee is just not that great. Being a Washington State girl, I am obligated to love Starbucks. And I do for the most part. I think I love the IDEA of Starbucks more than the actual coffee. I love their story and the history of the company. I love the green straws. It is branding at its finest and since I am in Marketing...blah, blah, blah. I am missing locally owned and operated corner coffee stands. I cannot believe these are not popular here in Phoenix. My husband and I were out and about and like so many pregnant women, with only a couple weeks left to go, I found myself with the sudden urge to use the bathroom. We stopped into a Starbucks on 7th ave and Camelback in Phoenix and noticed that they had keypad locks on the bathroom doors. I waddled up to the counter and asked the barista if I could please have the code for the ladies room. He asked if I was going to buy something because he could only give me the code if I made a purchase. I replied that I'm pregnant and need to use the bathroom now. He again repeated that I would have to purchase something. I glared at him and walked away to my husband and told him that I was denied access. Understandably, this upset Brad who marched right over to the Starbucks employee and in a forceful tone again stated that I am pregnant and should be granted use of the bathroom. They went back and forth for a moment, all the while the employee repeating that toilet access comes with a purchase. Finally Brad put his credit card on the counter and said, "Charge me for whatever and give me the code!". To this, the barista said no and refused to sell him anything, insisting instead that we leave and go to the Fry's down the street and use their facilities. A woman in line behind Brad who had been witnessing this bathroom denial insanity said that she was about to be making a purchase and asked for the code. The unrelenting employee refused and instead told my husband that if he didn't leave, he would be calling the police. At this point, Brad realized that my urge was becoming urgent so we left and used the bathroom at a much more accepting Subway next door. I don't know if there is any civil or federal code that permits access of a toilet to a pregnant women in the state of Arizona, but there should be extenuating circumstances regardless. Especially when there is no signage stating that the bathrooms are for customers only. I have never experience anything like this in my life. To unapologetically deny a very pregnant woman the use of a bathroom is wrong. This male barista exhibited a total lack of compassion and understanding, not to mention zero common scence. I hope that other pregnant women never have to experience this kind of embarrassment. read more

This is one of the slowest Starbucks I've ever been to. I'm going on 5 minutes waiting for a cup of ice. Apparently that also has to be made in order of all the drinks. Cashier looks hungover and the only time she's smiling is when she's talking to the other baristas. As soon as a customer walks up she looks like she just rolled out of bed. I mean, it's a Starbucks. So, on the one hand, it's the same old thing. On the other hand, you know what you're getting is a reliably consistent product. This Starbucks, though, is near and dear to my heart as it's just a hop and a skip away from the house I lived in for four years. I have spent more time at this particular Starbucks than I'd like to admit. It's got a decent sized seating area on the inside and a large patio area to enjoy those sunny Phoenician days. The lighting is perfect for working and reading - not too glum, not too bright. The baristas here have always been friendly and super courteous, and attractive to boot. This Starbucks get worse each time we try and give them another chance since we live in the area. Just this morning, myself and 4 other customers all had their orders made incorrectly. The young man making drinks got an attitude with the lady before me because it was the second time HE made her drink wrong. Second time! The younger staff were more interested in talking about the young man's friend who got locked out her house from being too wasted the night before. When I finally received my order, we had 1 incorrect drink, 1 completely wrong drink and the middle of the sausage sandwich was still frozen. The same young man again was irritated I asked him to correct the drink mistakes. There didn't seem to be a manger on duty as another frustrated customer requested to speak to one. This location really needs to get it together. This is too prime of a location for such a lack of customer service. read more

I read a few other unhappy reviews and have to echo them. It is so often bad we have to believe the mismanagement there lives up to its connotation. We are not even talking the hours when the other Starbucks in the area are backed up around the block. I had seen this Starbucks had shorter lines, but unfortunately the reason was rhe service was amazingly bad. Incorrect drink doesn't begin to explain this situation. My last Venti, Carmel Frappuccino, light, no whip, which was purchased by a friend was prime example. From what I can surmise, whip was still added. They emptied out a third of my order trying to remove whip, finally resorting to scooping 2/3's of it out but not replacing the coffee. In the midst of these problems the use of the blender to mix the drink was neglected. My drink came with a flat slice ice almost as tall as the drink itself, along with a couple of regular looking cubes of ice. Tried calling to speak with management, but after awhile decided they were at least smart enough to avoid answering the phone and dealing with the complaints. read more

Arrived this morning around 645am asked for hot white mocha and bacon Gouda breakfast sandwich. After 10 min the girl gave me my drink but was sitting in drive thru window for 5 min before she realized it was for carry out. It was slightly cold and tasted nowhere near a white mocha. When i asked where my sandwich was a young lady said she was tossing in oven now. 5 more minutes goes by she gives me the bag and I go my merry way. By the time I reach my destination 5min later. Sandwich is cold as ice it was never even heated just tossed in a bag. The store had 5 to 6 people working at the time and I know that this store gets busy but the mgr (girl) was scolding a guy on what he should be doing. We came in at about 10 til close to order some hot chocolates. Pastries were all already packed up for the evening. There were trays of pastries in plastic baggies out on trays, but we were told they were not for sale. Drinks were okay, but seemed watered down somehow. One of the hot chocolates was too hot to drink immediately, although the others were fine. One of the employees let us know upon receiving our drinks that they were closing in 5 minutes. At 9pm he said rather loudly to a fellow employee that it was 9pm. They seemed way to eager to close up and we were disappointed that pastries were already packed up. If they close earlier than 9pm or are not offering their full menu til close, they ought to post that on Yelp so customers can choose another more welcoming location. I have never been made to feel unwelcome in a Starbucks like this. read more

I went to the Starbucks at 5344 N 7th Ave in Phoenix to meet a friend. We decided to sit outside to sit outside on the patio. Boisterous, loud, rude, childish behaviors are adjectives that come to mind for describing this location. I thought I was in a Junior High cafeteria. I will never meet anyone at a Starbucks again it was that rowdy. Frankly, I have nixed suggestions to meet their after the incident. Love the app where you can pay and tip w/o using cash or card. Also love love love the Cool Lime Refresher green coffee drink for after yoga - yummy. They give you what you want, what you expect and do it in an efficient and friendly manner. They are mighty tasty too. I will always go back. Can't help myself. They were one of the first chain coffees and you get used to a certain flavor and taste. Starbucks always delivers. Drive thru is a bit of a pain in the ass though and slows down the whole bean process. I prefer to go in, hear the music, smell the coffee and see them make my order. read more
