I love this Starbucks because the staff is so proficient. It's the one I always stop at on my way to the office because I know I can depend on my latte to be made well (although many Starbucks are good at that, which is probably one of the reasons they are so successful). This Starbucks is a bit dark and doesn't have many tables, but it stands out because the baristas knock out drinks so fast that I'm no longer even scared when I walk in and there is a long line. I've been here a handful of times since they moved out the smaller space adjacent to the bank. The new spot is consistently busy & the parking is tricky as it's on a high traffic corner. There's a parking lot on the Mission side but the traffic makes it just a tad more difficult. For me, the service has been fine the few times I've been here. Came here very early one morning and the worker was waiting for the keyholder to arrive. I asked what was going on and the worker just shrugged and shook her head, saying "the person that has the key just didnt' show up. Second issue is that their hours are very confusing. At one point the window hours didn't match their yelp and didn't match real life. Last issue is that I went in early morning (6am) on October 6th and dealt with the RUDEST cashier/worker I have ever encountered. Not a very friendly location. Came in to get a refill on my iced coffee and they were arguing with me that I had to be "in" the store to get a refill. Well one, it was filled with kids getting off from school and two there was no where to sit. Also, I have two of my business accounts with Wells Fargo which is attached! For some reason this Starbucks just does not have it together. I work right down the street so it's disappointing because it is so convenient for me but honestly I would rather drive further (and it would probably take less time!) The staff is for the most part friendly, every once in a while one or two will seem grumpy and short with me but I usually just shrug it off. Having worked in a fast paced coffee shop before I understand that the morning rush can be overwhelming and mistakes happen but I always feel like I have to wait an abnormally long amount of time to get my drink even when there seem to be not THAT many people waiting. The staff always seems flustered and overwhelmed (maybe they need to hire more? Or go through more training?) The manager is the one person who seems to know what she is doing (you would hope!) but she needs to pass on that attitude and knowledge to the rest of her staff. The only issue is that it's not really a full-blown Starbucks, so due to the limited space, people kind of stand around waiting for their drinks. I am very particular about my coffee. I love it with a passion and I spend a lot of time cultivating my coffee knowledge. I moved away from Starbucks coffee in favor of trying small-batch, locally owned roasters. However, there is nothing terrible about Starbucks coffee beans- independently roasted beans just have a little bit more je ne sais quoi in my opinion. I am not opposed to the Starbucks brand and I visit here and there. But lately, every time I decide to give Starbucks another chance they let me down. It's like they sense that I'm not a cult-follower and they decide to kick me to the curb and throw sticks at me. I came here two days ago to redeem my free birthday item (woohoo). I arrived at 8:00 AM and there was only a few other people in the store. I browsed the food section and opted for a chipotle chicken sandwich because I was ravenous after waking up at 4 AM to run a half marathon before work. The cashier was very perky, polite and efficient as he rang me up and offered to heat up my sandwich. I said yes and sat down to wait for my food. The store was very empty but people slowly trickled in to grab their morning coffees. 10 minutes later, one of the baristas called out "two sandwiches." I headed to the pickup area at the same time as another lady. Unfortunately, both sandwiches were hers. The barista asked what my order was and I told him. He said it should be out in a few minutes. Another 5 minutes passed and now there was a HUUUGE line through the entire Starbucks and I noticed that everyone else was getting their food. I went back to check on my sandwich and the barista asked around and was told that there was no sandwich being heated up and that someone must have stolen it so they would reheat another one. I was pretty annoyed at the situation but not annoyed at Starbucks because it wasn't like one of the employees who stole it. I knew I was suffering from runger (running hunger, haha) so I shrugged it off. I sat back down and a few minutes later, I look up to see a barista standing in front of me with my sandwich. I take the sandwich, smile and start to thank her but while I'm doing this, she slams down a card on my table with the bitchiest expression ever and says "here you go" and turns away before my "thank you" tumbles out of my mouth. I was overwhelmed with mixed emotions since 1) I was thrilled to finally have food 2) I was pleasantly surprised that my sandwich was brought to me (great customer service) 3) confused as to why the delivery barista was so bitchy to me (terrible customer service) and 4) afraid since I didn't know what the delivery barista slammed onto the table (it turned out to be a $4 appeasement card to Starbucks for my next visit). I wouldn't have felt compelled to write a review on Yelp had it not been for the snarky manner that the barista delivered my sandwich and slammed down the card on the table. I would have been perfectly happy with my experience even with the fact that some Starbucks regular stole my sandwich and that the barista delivered the sandwich to my table. BUT THERE WAS NO NEED TO DO IT IN A SNARKY MANNER. It was unprofessional and it absolutely killed my experience. Anyway, I go to the Wells Fargo bank next door all the time but there is no way I'm ever coming to this Starbucks ever again. There is another Starbucks location a little farther North on Fair Oaks, just North of the 110 freeway, and yet another Starbucks location just South of here right before Huntington on Fremont. South Pasadena is not a coffee dessert so there is no reason to come to this location ... just don't do it. read more

This is an interesting Starbucks. It shares space with a Wells Fargo Bank. So when you walk through the door, you can choose to go right into the bank or left into Starbucks. The space is small, with only a handful of tables for seating. Staff is very pleasant. It's location is basically right in the heart of South Pasadena's downtown, so it's within walking distance of many stores and restaurants. read more

It wasnt too crowded when I went, thus they were able to make my drink pretty fast. The usual starbucks menu here, including hot/warm meals. Went in this afternoon to meet a friend for a coffee. As I walked in I noticed the signage (I posted a picture under pictures) that stated, up to 50% off ANY green box. After ordering and talking for over an hour, I decided to purchase some coffee mugs IN GREEN BOXES before I left. I took the boxes to the register and they rung up full price. The male barista said he had to wait for his manager to come back in a few minutes and check. I looked around at other things in the green boxes and when the manager came back I took up a couple more things to purchase. When I arrived at the register the manager said that the green boxes I wanted to by were NOT the RIGHT GREEN BOXRS?!?! I said they are in green boxes and the sign said ANY GREEN BOX!! Observed customer finishing their order at one of two cashier stations Approached aforementioned cashier station, both cashier stations now unattended by staff Waited approximately 5 minutes Staff member takes her station at other cashier station. Does not look at me. Says "Can I take your order" I do my order. Card refill, spinach feta wrap, vanilla sweet cream cold brew. It goes clumsily, but not offensively. I really like my cold brew, so I am listening very closely for it or my name. Spinach feta wrap is called very quickly. Cold brew not there yet [don't like that habit of food items coming out separately, but that characteristic is typical of all starbucks so no points off for that] After listening to other people's orders called out for 10 minutes, I go up and see my cold brew and someone else's also which has obviously both been sitting around. I ask, "is this mine?" . She calls out "cold brew!!" and then answers yes. I finish my items. The cold brew here isn't great, but it's OK and not weak. I go up for a cold brew refill. I am told that they can only do refills when purchased at that store. I tell the clerk (who is a different, nicer girl than before) I purchased it 10 minutes ago. best customer service at a starbucks ever! and i've been to all 4 of the starbucks in this little city plenty of times. the people here are so nice! go 2-3 times a week in the morning to pick up some black coffee and they always ask about me. some of them recognize me and we chat for a bit ! when im feeling festiv and ask for some syrup, usually they don't charge me for it! and there are always samples. i love that its in the bank, cuz i have wells fargo and i can just pop right on over and do some transactions. great place! read more
