I only wanted to rinse the lobster off my fingers, so I ended up using a glass of water outside instead. The service was friendly and accommodating, and the food had some strong points, but the disappointing coffee and lack of convenient restrooms kept this from being a higher-rated experience. Maple Leaf Farms Duck Breast - I really enjoyed this dish and was very comforting while not being too heavy. Spiced NZ Rack of Lamb - I believe this is a signature dish and was great without being gamey. Overall, really solid dishes and I was pleasantly surprised. The waitstaff was also great.

Make sure to take your ticket with you for validation. Seating is available inside and outside on their covered patio. Plenty of space for parties of all sizes. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to make a same-day reservation for a Sunday afternoon. They had plenty of open seating even when we got there. Tables were very dirty. They have a lot of work to do - it seems like months if not years of food, dust, and salty moist air mixed together and collected in the creases in the tables, on the walls, etc.. It's like a sticky gross residue that never gets completely clean. Many people like to dress nice in the area but honestly I would hate to wear something nice here out of fear it would get dirty. We also required new plates as ours had old food stuck to them. Service was not great. Our waiter was somewhat attentive but not nice - the poor guy seemed miserable like he hated his job and did not want to be there. Despite the restaurant being full, he wouldn't come by often when we actually needed something - he even disappeared towards the end and a new waiter had to help us. Food is delicious. Besides the location, their saving grace. We tried the sandwiches and yummy! Fries were also delicious with the spicy mayo. Love the different options they have, overall. When I asked for one, she spent a moment at the screen and then told me she couldn't print it because she had already closed out my tab. I was confused why 1) she didn't give me a receipt in the first place, then 2) she decided that was the only solution - to tell me it could not be done. After I asked her to find a solution as I needed a copy of the receipt, she finally asked her colleague beside her, who pointed her to the right place, and, voila, the receipt was printed. Leading with "I can't" is never the right customer service instinct, especially for something as basic as a receipt. I also tried to buy the butter they import from France. I stood at the case for several minutes with no acknowledgment. I finally walked over to the nearest employee (her name was Lucy) who was finishing up with a customer at the register right next to the butter section. I politely asked if she could help me when she was free. She looked at me, nodded, and said she would. Then proceeded to assist every customer who lined up behind that original customer without once glancing back in my direction. In fact, I had enough time to walk to the bakery, go through the entire gift card situation as mentioned above, and return to the butter section, and Lucy still hadn't looked over. I left without the butter. Moulin used to have fantastic service. I don't know where those regulars went, but two strikes in one visit, with two different employees, is hard to brush off.

Yes! Finally some good coffee past Disneyland! So excited to have Stereoscope Coffee Co open up here! I love their original location in Buena Park! And get my caffeine fix at Sqirl or Doubting Thomas when in LA. Now I can drive down the 73 and grab their amazing pourovers. They have some of the best, roasted coffee I've ever had! Highly recommend purchasing a bag because it comes with any free drink! I usually get their pourovers, hot or iced. Or if I'm in a rush, their cold brew. The origin of the cold brew changes daily and it's soo interesting to taste the little nuances of the coffee. I also recommend their lattes, any one of their lattes are perfectly made, such as the Spanish or Vanilla. They make their own syrups and it's not too sweet and you can definitely taste the espresso. Not a coffee drinker? I've tried all their teas. Amazing artisan collection. Oh! And their matcha. OMG, their matcha is to die for! Literally. Lately, I've been gravitating to their Royal Milk Tea too and Lychee Peachy when I don't want caffeine. Their coffee is highly caffeinated so on days I don't need it, I venture out to their non caffeine section and it's amazing what quality drinks they have! Not to mention everyone is so nice here! I wasn't fond of a drink once and they noticed when they went around to ask how my drink was. They offered to remake it or grab me a new drink. I was shy but they insisted. I recently visited Stereoscope Coffee and ordered the Mizuba Ceremonial Matcha Nakama. The drinks came out pretty quickly, but I had to wait around 10-20 minutes in line, which was a bit frustrating considering the long wait. The matcha itself was a letdown. It was grainy, and I could feel the texture of the unblended matcha bits as I drank it. I really wish they took more care in grinding and blending the matcha to give it a smoother, more refined taste. It left a weird aftertaste in my mouth, almost like I was drinking dry matcha powder--definitely not the refreshing experience I was hoping for. As for the food, I think it's a bit overpriced for the portion sizes. I get that Newport Beach can be pricy, but $8 for a croissant and $13-15 for a breakfast burrito feels excessive, especially considering the portion sizes didn't quite match the price tag. Overall, I like the vibe of Stereoscope, but I'm not sure I'll be coming back for the matcha drinks anytime soon. I'd recommend adjusting the matcha preparation for a smoother experience and maybe rethinking the prices on the bakery and breakfast items. read more

I'm so happy that one of my favorite shops has opened up another location!! I always get skeptical with different locations because something is always different, and it's usually the quality that's compromised. But Stereoscope definitely maintains the same quality and standards as they do at their Buena Park location, and THEY HAVE FOOD HERE. Just when I thought it couldn't get any better - all the food sounds so good too. I'm gonna have to come back and slowly try everything! I def recommend the dinosaur kale salad though. I tried a bite of my friend's, and I don't even like kale but it was so good!!! If you make me like food I normally hate, you're doing something right HAHA. That ultimate breakfast brioche bun is next on my list though. As expected, customer service is on point too. With good quality drinks, food, customer service and a BEAUTIFUL space, how can you not love it here??? I really like that you can sit in the lobby and in the outside area too. Stereoscope Coffee in Newport is one of the best cafés I've visited. The coffee is consistently excellent, smooth, and full of flavor. Their espresso is dialed in better than anywhere else in Orange County, and the pour overs are always worth the wait. The space is modern, unique, and thoughtfully designed. It may be small, but it feels intentional and elevated rather than cramped. It is the kind of place where you actually want to stay for a while instead of just grabbing your drink and leaving. The matcha brûlé deserves a mention too. It is creative, carefully prepared, and a great option if you want something different from coffee. Highly recommend I consider Stereoscope to exceptional in the quality of their drinks. Everything i've had from here has been pretty good. It's a little pricey, but I think it's definitely worth. The only think i've though was questionable was their pre-sweetened matcha latte--it was too sweet. Adjust it to be less sweet. Service is extremely friendly and helpful. The interior is very nice, albeit very small. RESCINDED [Parking is terrible. There are just a few spots (3-4?) on the street for takeout. if you can't score those, you'll have to park in the structure and that will cost you a bit if you're staying for a while.] -- Thanks to James for clarification. read more

This place has the highest quality of coffee with multiple selections of single origins. On top of that, the food that they have is insanely good (especially Gem lettuce)! The hospitality of workers are outstanding and they know what they are doing! Lastly, the ceiling was made with a 3D painting that is very unique and special to this place. You can get the 2 hours of free parking validation from them as well, so parking shouldn't be a problem to visit here! read more

Finally posting after visiting many times, I am a regular iced Americano type girl in the mornings with no real heavy foods, but this time I was starving, so I went for a breakfast burrito to go. Super satisfied with that decision after scarfing it down in less than 5min. Service staff are always cheerful and friendly. Definitely not strong enough, and kind of added to the frustration. I would not recommend this place, there are plenty of fantastic coffee houses as you can see from my reviews, I'd go somewhere else.
