This is a very average pizza place, if you are in search for the greatest pizza in Cerritos you will not find it here. Just had a bday party here today and it was extreamly busy its a good size place but they had a fund raiser going on honestly if i knew that i woulda gone to another location when I walked in I stood there waiting for the cashier to say something to me I could tell ge was busy but he didnt even look up and say anything then once I was seated I was waitinf for someone to come and great us no one ever came so i walked up and asked if anyone was ganna take my order come to find out you have to place it your self this was my 1st time here wish someone woulda told me that to begin with the pizza was okay and it actually came out pretty fast once I ordered it wings were good and they didnt charge me to cut our own cake ill try to give it another chance only becausd they were really busy read more

Have been returning here after a small hiatus. Seems that business is booming but the cleanliness has minimized.. In defense of the pizza though, its not laventinas, which I love, but you cant go wrong with the basic pepperoni or pineapple and ham. We wanted some pizza during our visit to Cerritos and after reading some reviews we decided on Straw Hat Pizza and we were absolutely pleased by our visit to Straw Hat Pizza! This was one of the few pizza places that was open late (other than the generic places like domino's or pizza hut). Excellent customer service, very welcoming and friendly. The prices were reasonable and the food was delicious. The only reason I didn't give 5 stars was because our hotel was less than 3 miles from the restaurant but they wouldn't deliver, but everything else was great! Definitely will be back the next time we are visiting that area. read more

Something looks different about this Shakeys....... My family had a party here for my nieces 13th bday. The teens were happy being weirdos in the corner, the kids were having fun in the arcade, the ladies enjoyed their conversations about God-knows-what near the fireplace, and the guys were watching the Laker game and ordering pitchers of beer. We were a bunch of happy campers. 1. The pizza was decent, nothing to rave about. Everyone's favorite seemed to be the BBQ chicken. 2. The appetizers were good. Especially the garlic butter breadstick/ twists. 3. I can't vouch for it bc I don't drink but the guys were happy with the beer on tap which was decently priced at $9 a pitcher (Blue Moon) Strawhat really won us over with their customer service, it was AMAZING! I love coming here, it reminds me of my childhood. The people that work here are incredibly helpful, and sometimes if I don't have a coupon, they'll give me a discount. The pizza is great, greasy yes, but very good. They always have a game on one of their flat screens, and they even have an arcade area for the kids. My brothers and I were given a $10 voucher via Groupon from my step dad a while back, so we decided to use it on Saturday, May 10. -1 Star because we couldn't use our voucher on their Manager's Special menu, so we had to inconveniently do two separate transactions. You will most likely get lost trying to find this restaurant, because it really is a small place (It is located in the same plaza as Marshalls.) Straw Hat Pizza is an old fashioned pizza parlor, which is almost comparable to Shakey's: but better. A definite hole in the wall. We totally underestimated this place, thinking we'd leave on a not-so-full stomach, since we are a BIG family. Wrong. We decided to go "all out" with our order and ordered two pizzas: 1 large Straw Hat pizza (basically, supreme) & 1 King Size (16 slices) BBQ chicken pizza. Along with our pizzas, we had a not-so-small appetizer platter which included wings, garlic twists (yum) and potato wedges(eh.) We also ordered two sides of fried green beans (delicious...my 2 year old brother loved it!) One of our pizzas was from their Manager's Special Menu, so 3 drinks were included! A little more limited compared to Shakey's, but definitely better quality & worth your money. The size of our pizza was so big, that when we asked for a box, our leftovers were equivalent to a LARGE box of pizza, with 2-3 extra slices that couldn't fit in the box. Yes, they were THAT big. So it is definitely worth it to bring your family here, especially if you have a huge one! I must admit though, the BBQ chicken pizza wasn't as good as I thought it would be. Why? They added tons of carrots (weird) and I ordered that particular pizza for my non-vegetable eating brother. Obviously that was a fail. But all in all, we were completely stuffed! The place itself is fairly small. The arcade is even smaller though! As far as cleanliness, this place is pretty "dirty:" Lots of food on the floor, and the salad bar didn't look appetizing. The game room is clean, and each game is about $.50 each, so not too bad. Their mini-prizes are much better than Chuck E Cheese's! As far as service, out of the 2 people who I encountered there, only NICK, the one who took our order, was the nicest one there. He was beyond patient with us, knowing that it was our first time and gave us some recommendations. The lady who was handling the prizes, seemed to hate her job with a passion. I did like that from time to time, an older man, perhaps the owner, checked up on us and asked us if we needed anything. He also conveniently took our unused plates so we would have space on our table. One of the best pizza spots in LA. The food is always fresh and delicious. There's a unlimited salad bar with all the fixings you need. Multiple TVs to show all the games and sometimes the fights. I came here with friends and we got a few pitchers from the bar while we waited for our order. They also have a lot of games to play and a ton of prizes so definitely bring the kids here. The owner of this spot is always there and always looks to make your experience there great. Love the staff. My favorite thing to get here is the California pizza with sweet chili boneless wings. I don't really know what to commend here... Definitely not the food. It was A-Ok as shown by the three star rating. The portions were quite large which is always a plus but I found myself not wanting to finish my fourth slice because it simply was not tasty. The only real two plus' that I can think of are that my friend was able to find something he liked at the Goodwill next door and that their service does seem to be exceptional as mentioned in other reveiws. The person who took our orders was quite friendly and she made small talk which is always a plus. I love this place. This reminds me of growing up and getting pizza after little league games. The pizza is good, not mind blowing amazing, but good. The vegetables are fresh. The cheese is decent. The garlic cheese bread is really good. The marinara sauce that comes with it is tasty and actually has flavor and doesn't just taste like plain tomatoes. I've also ordered delivery from them and the delivery was fast and efficient. There are a lot of TVs and a great place to catch a game. We visited this place on a sunday after bringing the kids to sky zone next door. We had many different issues/problems on.our visit here. 1st issue, I was standing by the register for a few minutes without being acknowledged even tho a couple of the employees saw me standing there. I had to ask someone there if I was standing in the correct spot to place an order. I ordered a large pepperoni pizza, a Mexican pizza and some fried green beans. 2nd issue, the Mexican pizza was missing the pineapple topping and the fried green beans were cold! I called the waitress back and let here know of the mistakes. The manager said he would make me a new small Mexican pizza and get some new fried green beans. After waiting for 20 minutes the waitress came back with our hot fried green beans and two small cups of pineapple. I told her the manager said they were making a new pizza so she went to argue with the manager. I had to wait another 15 minutes for the pizza. 3rd issue, my son wanted some wings so I gave him some money and he went to place his order. They didnt give him a reciept and after waiting for 20 minutes we went to see if they were almost ready. They asked for the reciept and we had to explain that they never gave us one. They never made the wings! Now we had to wait for them again! This place wasn't even packed. The staff here is no good, they have no customer service! This place is a nice place and the employees are great too... They finally have great NEW cushions in the booths which is nice... The staff is great, friendly and accommodating... I like the fact that they will sometimes come to the table and get you a new pitcher of beer... toss them a tip for doing it... its only right. The have great deals and since they have replaced the cushions I prefer this place over Fuddruckers in Lakewood even if the beer is .50 cents more per pitcher... Nice, Clean etc... They have the best Groovy Twists (you can get them with jalepenos now) and some amazing pizza! As a child I remember always going to Pizza Hut with my family, this place definitely reminds me of that. The staff was very friendly and my food arrived fairly quickly. We have been coming to this place for over 30 years from Orange County. Not sure how they get any negative reviews. They are all so nice and friendly. Even when it's packed they get you your food pretty quickly. Beer is cold and they have many on tap. They have lots of tv's and will put on anything you ask. They have the Dodger Channel. I can't understand how this place has such great reviews. I had the pizza buffet. I arrived around 1:20. It ends at 2:00. They didn't bring out any new pizza even though they told me it would run until everyone was finished. So I settled for the 2 old dry pieces they had there. Not good. Maybe a little better than Shakeys. The only other option to eat was salad. Brown and going bad but edible. I pretty much paid $7 for old salad and a few nibbles of stale pizza. I checked it out because the other reviews were stellar. I'm convinced now that they must have been written by employees or the manager or something. read more
