I love the bolognese, yes it has cream. Many of thier pastas do. The pasta is always cooked perfectly. This branch has amazing servers. Great salads. I'm a big fan. My MIL treated me to lunch today and we decided on Strizzi's because she had a gift card. It wasn't busy on a Monday afternoon. We were seated immediately and told about the specials. I ordered and iced tea and the special shrimp and spinach risotto and MIL ordered the whole wheat penne pasta primavera with vegetables. NOTE: the shrimp risotto is NOT a risotto; it wasn't even aborio rice. It was basically rice in broth with shrimp. Adding parmesan cheese to the top also does not make it risotto. The flavors were actually quite nice and the shrimp was cooked perfectly, very tender and fresh. But they really shouldn't deceive you into thinking you are getting a rich, slow cooked buttery delicious risotto. My MIL seemed to enjoy her pasta and took some home for lunch tomorrow. Bread was generous and fresh. Our bill for two came out to $32. Not my first choice for a meal on Main St. but it can suffice. read more

Oh boy.. The food here is not good. Bottom line. We started off with the free stale bread. Always a sign of things to come in restaurants such as this one. The kids had small pizzas that looked like it was bought from the freezer section at Safeway.. Very doughy with little cheese. I had the chicken walnut salad which had a whole lot of lettuce and little else. Would have been nice to have more cheese and walnuts as it had advertised on the menu. The lettuce was also very watered down which might have been a reflection of how long it had been in the fridge. The real horror show of the night was a clump of hair that our friend found in her risotto.. It was similar to that of a cat hair ball. When we showed the waitress she responded with a "ohhhhhhh." I've been going to this restaurant since the early 1990's. There was a time that they had very well prepared food at a reasonable price. Over the last five years, I've gone probably six or seven times, and each time I've been disappointed. The food is simply not very good. The meats off the grill are still fine, but the price is very very high for what you get. The pasta sauces are mostly flavorless. The pesto tasted like it had window cleaner in it. My daughters chicken wings were rubbery and undercooked. The rigatoni bolognese, once a strong suit, was also flavorless and the sauce was nearly watery. Our last trip, for a family of four with one eating only an appetizer and none having wine, $85. And none of our dishes were very good. This has been a consistent experience for years. I imagine the same gentleman owns the restaurant, which makes the fall surprising. It's sad, so many great memories, but I'm not going back. read more

This is the first time I've been to strizzis it was horrible the waitress sat me outside then I waited 30 mins with no water or for her to take my order and she never came back I then saw her walk out of the restaurant get in her car and leave I sat another 10 mins and no one came to assist me so I left . The brunch itself was good but the service very poor. The server brought my companions meal and then forgot to bring mine. I had to ask another server to her it after waiting for nearly 10 minutes. I called in a pick-up order here tonight at the last minute as I had some friends drop by. We ordered the Rigatoni Bolognese and an order of garlic bread. It was ready 30 mins later just as they said it would be, however the forgot the garlic bread. They offered to quickly prepare me some, but instead I left with four large pieces of bread, each easily enough for 2-3 people. When I picked up the order, I asked for extra Parmesan cheese and was pleasantly surprised that they gave me a large container full. The same container in a grocery store would have been $4 - $5. The food was pretty good, but not really memorable. The person that took my order made it sound like this would have more of a red sauce with a generous amount of meat in the sauce, but this didn't turn out to be the case. I think my order total came to $35 and was plenty for five of us with some left over. I only paid for pasta as I had salad fixings at home and they gave me the bread at no charge. Still, not bad for $35. On the positive side, the woman who helped me when I picked up my order was super friendly and went out of her way to make sure I left with everything I needed. She even built a cardboard box while I stood there and put everything neatly in it and sealed it so it was super easy to carry. We ordered three main dishes and the antipasto and one salad. The lasagna got good reviews from my nephew. The wood fired salmon was good but the salsa topping, not so much. The sausage alfredo pasta got a good review from niece. The antipasto plate had fresh mozzarella, prosciutto, olives, two stuffed peppers, and marinated artichokes and peppers. It was good, but some fresh wood fired roasted peppers could have put it over the top. The mixed green salad was a little heavy on the vinaigrette dressing. The bread was plentiful and really good. Really like this place. Awesome food, reasonable prices and great customer serivce. I've had a few meals here and everything i've tried has been awesome. Just to name a few: chicken pesto pasta, seafood linguine, lasagnas were all really really good. The bread that they serve is really good as well and service is fantastic. It is a great place to go for a date or a family outting, they have outdoor patio tables so it is a great option for nice days in Pleasanton. They also have early bird specials where you get soup and salad with your entree for a reasonable price, around $12. I think the early bird special is from 5-7PM. This place definitely beats all the typical Italian chains such as Olive Garden!!! read more

Came here for my 21st Birthday. My dad had a $50 gift card that his boss gave him and thought we should use it up. So we drove to Pleasanton with my mom, dad, boyfriend, and Jayden. I'm not full of high end expensive restaurant but it was my special day, so my dad got the Crab Cobb Salad ($16), my mom got the Strizzi's Burger ($12) with a side of the Clam Chowder (extra $3.75), my boyfriend got the Chicken Fettuccine Alfredo ($13), and I got the Spaghetti & Meatball ($12). Now that I'm 21 now, I wanted to have my first alcohol drink. So I got the Hogue Columbia Valley Riesling, Washington ($6 for glass) and my boyfriend also wanted an alcohol beverage also, so he got Robert Stemmler Pinot Noir, Carneros ($12 for glass). The food was pretty good, but not as good for a high end restaurant. I expected it to be a bit better, but then again I'm not familiar with these foods. They all sound so good, but I'm much more of the "don't have to be fancy" person. But it was good to give it a try. We ordered take out because of Covid and the bad weather. We ordered the Wood Grilled Salmon and the Chicken Pesto & Pine Nuts, and Penne Pomodori. All the meals were really very good. Every time I come here, I'm reminded why I don't come often. The food is too salty. They seem inconvenienced when I ask for a napkin or a fork and they act annoyed that I have kids (who are well behaved and quite). I also did a small catering order and they were late...it set my whole party timeline late because I had to come back later since they were still working on my order. Ah - YES. The blackboard special mounted just inside the door was calling to me. SEAFOOD RISOTTO The memories of past dishes come rushing to me - the creaminess of the dish, the nutty taste of fresh shaved parmesan, the velvety feel of the rice and the wonderful flavors of the ocean combined with fresh herbs, seafood stock and white wine. Little did I know I would be playing CHARADES tonight - Strizzi-style. What was presented to me looked nothing at all like risotto - long grain rice covered with grated parmesan? No wonderful aromas wafting upwards towards my nose. I was puzzled. Isn't this an Italian restaurant? Haven't they been in business for a number of years? Don't they have multiple locations throughout the Tri-Valley area? What was this imposter placed down before me? Nothing was beckoning to me ... I tried a fork full ... No taste AT ALL. Closer examination revealed long grain white rice floating in a broth like substance with a few scallops and prawns thrown in. I tried a shrimp ... no resemblance at all to what I have come to know as risotto. The perky server arrived at our table to inquire: "How is everything." I tried to hold back having been in foodservice for quite a number of years. Maybe the Chef was called away for an emergency. Perhaps they ran out of Arborio rice. My wife piped in: "I don't think he likes it." There - it was said. Server ran off and brought over the manager. "Can we bring you something else?" she said. "How about our Shrimp Risotto with Spinach." "Fine" I replied. Five minutes later (risotto normally takes a bit longer to prepare than five minutes) my substitute meal appeared. GUESS WHAT? Same dish - a few different ingredients. Again the server stopped by (somewhat tentatively I might add) and asked, "How is everything." I replied, "Nothing changed really - but I'll press on - I'm a mite hungry." Again the manager asking if I was pleased. "No - this is not how the dish is prepared. No Arborio rice - no flavor at all" I said. "Do you use seafood stock in the preparation? The manager replied "No - we use chicken stock in our seafood risotto." I mentioned that with the absence of Arborio rice and seafood stock that this was not a seafood risotto. We had a late breakfast at Strizzi's downtown Pleasanton yesterday. We hadn't been there since they installed all the sound abatement materials. Even the pictures seemed to be part of the plan to reduce noise. The difference was very, very noticeable. It was perfect. At any rate, the breakfast was great. We had eggs and bacon. The bacon was thickly sliced as was the sour dough toast, which was sliced to order, unlike many places that just buy it presliced in the standard loaf. This came with hot and tasty round roasted potatoes. A great location, a window seat for people watching, and good food with great service. A nice way to finish the morning. read more

5 STARS Great service on steroids!!!! I ordered a wonderful meal for 2 at Strizzi's Restaurant via Doordash. Upon receiving the order, I quickly realized that one of the entrees was an incorrect dish. I called Strizzi's and spoke with Tim Ludden, Vice President of Operations. He apologized and stated he could prepare the correct entrée and although I ponder that solution, I quickly realized that I was not in the mood to drive to downtown Pleasanton, hence the Doordash option. I asked that I receive some type of credit and would utilize the credit during another dining experience. Tim stated he would mail a gift card to utilize at my leisure. I was very satisfied with Tim's option due to the incorrect entrée was tasty. Additionally, it was a dish that I would never have ordered for myself. Shortly after finishing my meal the doorbell rang and to my surprise it was Mr. Tim Ludden himself with the correct ENTRÉE, GIFTCARD, & DELICIOUS CHEESECAKE!!!! Went here for lunch on Sat. Nov 3rd and sat at the counter and had a salad, garlic bread and tea. It was all great. I was able to watch the chefs and the one that made salads had his back to me but I could see he had his cell phone in his hands ( the dirtiest thing you can hold especially with no gloves), when he got done with that he touched his nose and the back of his neck and NEVER washed his hands. I watched him put his hands in a bucket of some sort of food and than watched him make a salad. Never once did he wash his hands. Disgusting. Won't eat here again. read more

I know the Livermore location has "no corkage" on Livermore wines although I'm not quite sure about this location. We like Strizzi's. The food is good. My husband and I love their entree salads and for a treat the seafood fetuccini. The service is always excellent and the manager is there almost all the time and he is very attentive. And the prices are very reasonable. If your'e doing take-out, go online to www.strizzis.com and get the coupon. UPDATE: Since Amarone opened up across the street, we haven't made it back to Strizzi's. Strizzi's is good for what it is but if you want TRUE Italian food with really fresh ingredients you have to walk across the street and try Amarone. I can only eat at Strizzi's for lunch since I work in Pleasanton but live in the city. But that's great because lunch at Strizzi's is pretty awesome. The soup or salad with pasta lunch combo is legit (only $9.99 for alllllllll that food). I like their Caesar salad a lot. Nice big flakes of cheese and tasty croutons (I don't even like croutons!). And I like their pastas. It isn't amazing, but I leave satisfied. Although I did have an extremely bombastic mushroom garlic ravioli dish once. It was on special though. They should leave it on the menu. Also, their sorbets are cool. The last one I tried was sangria sorbet. And when I was there this week it was peach champagne sorbet. I went to Strizzi's with my boyfriend and his family and overall it was a really nice evening. I first have to say that probably the best thing about the whole experience was the service. I can't remember her name, but our waitress was awesome. She was little older, super friendly and honest about our menu questions. She brought us a sample of wine to try and when 2 of us were uneasy to try dishes out of our usual comfort zone, she assured us she would bring us something else if we didn't like it, on the house. Now that is great service! Anyway, I ordered the special which was Linguine with Shrimp and Crab in a garlic cream sauce. They need to put this on the menu permanently because it was fantastic. Not too rich so you never got sick of the flavors. Big portions too so I had left overs aka dinner the next night. Yesss. My boyfriend got the Chicken Parmesan which was ok, nothing special. The marinara sauce wasn't the greatest, which means I also didn't care for one of the pastas someone else in our group ordered because it had the same sauce. I didn't try it, but my boyfriends parents come here a lot and always get the Wood Grilled Salmon and the Seafood Fettuccine in a cream sauce so it must be pretty good since they always get it. They also have a good wine selection, we had the Chianti and it was excellent! I would come here again and try something else on the menu, unless my pasta is on special, because I would definitely eat that again! read more
