They continue to update their menu which is refreshing. There's no longer outdoor seating and the inside gets packed pretty quickly. Service is quick, though. This time we had their chicken burger, mango strawberry pancakes, and a benedict that also came with garlic rice! Everything was delicious and came with huge portions. The pancakes were addicting. They offer a variety of regular breakfast diner food with lots of Filipino inspired dishes as well so it's a win-win for everyone! Check their weekly menu as they may offer different dishes to try!
This place was packed Sunday for brunch. The turnover is quick because the food comes out quickly. The place is a bit small and there's a sign in list right when you walk in. The food was delicious. The brisket was nice and tender, but I would suggest getting it with the garlic rice instead of the potatoes and biscuit.
We wanted to try something different for breakfast from our normal places. This small diner has a cozy retro feel with a friendly staff. I forgot to take a picture of my peach and strawberry french toast but it was delicious. It was a generous portion I also ordered an side of eggs and a ham steak that was needed counter the French toast. My wife ordered the corned beef and hash with a side of eggs which they placed on top. She liked the dish and it also was a generous amount.
Great menu selection. My friend and I opted for the Une pancakes of course and we chose the Bansilog (milkfish with garlic rice, 2 eggs and I loved the pickled vegetables with the salad they served. Food was amazing! The house coffee was unexpectedly perfect. I drink strong coffee and theirs was on point. I of course live the warm Filipino welcome of the staff. Tita Nora was our sweet server and I forgot Tito's first name (busser), he was adorable! Thank you to the chef for making our homemade brunch. I felt nostalgic as this is how my Mom used to serve breakfasts on weekends. Definitely visiting this little gem again. It gets packed so prepare to wait. We were lucky we waited only about 5 minutes as people were leaving. Only street parking, but it's not that bad at all. Located in a quaint downtown area in Pinole. Ambiance is definitely is definitely casual, and it can get loud; but fun! There's also a bar seating if you wish to sit in that area (not pictured).
the service was great and the food was even better. i got the bisteak and it was so fire especially the garlic rice. my only critique was i wish i had more garlic rice because it was that darn good that my girlfriend kept stealing it off my plate lol. another hard hitter that swept me off my feet was the ube pancakes. it was so freaking good that i kept eating piece after piece and rivals all other pancakes and almost takes my number 1 in favorite breakfast items. the pancakes were so fluffy and flavorful and the addition of fresh fruit and light whipped cream just took it to another level. will definitely try something else for a main breakfast dish but definitely definitely will be returning just for that pancake
Found this spot on Yelp and the ube pancakes caught my eye! However once we arrived, they had a list of specials for the day and we decided on the blueberry calamansi instead. The calamansi butter was so delicious and fragrant! There was no shortage of blueberries either. The place is small and cozy, seems like a local staple hole-in-the-wall type of breakfast joint. It's nothing fancy but the food was well-cooked! I'd say my only complaint was the pricing seems a bit off. My adobo pork belly bowl was $20 for two slices of pork belly, while my husband's giant breakfast burrito was $15 and could've easily been two meals worth at that size. Otherwise it was a solid meal, friendly service, and the meals came out QUICK, I'm talking minutes! Which was great since we had driven about an hour and a half so we were ready to eat. Great spot if you want a quick and tasty meal!
This is my 2nd time here. Pleasantly pleased with the food. Excellent taste. Service is quick and speedy. Ambiance is just chill. I will be back to try all yummy foods. I heard its the owners 5th anniversary here this weekend! Congratulations! Thank you for making good food to cure hungry tummies
Went because we saw pictures of ube pancakes (which were delicious). Ordered things off the Saturday specials menu, I got the tilapia, friend got the truffle fried chicken sandwich. All amazing. The restaurant is tiny but cute. And service is quick and efficient. Looking at the menu while waiting for your table can expedite the process.
Ordered for pick up and made it just before they closed thank goodness. The ube pancakes and the ube sauce were delicious and when we opened the box it was one of those feelings of excitement because the food tasted as good as it looked. We will definitely be back to this place. It's a pretty small restaurant and the ambiance seemed more casual. The service over the phone was very nice and they didn't rush me which I appreciate.
The ube pancakes were described as fluffy, but they were soggy and didn't taste like ube at all. They were also splitting apart, which I've never seen in a pancake before. The French toast was good though. IMO, only the American food part of the menu is good. The Filipino food/Filipino fusion part is a pass for me. But maybe I'm biased because I'm Filipino. The server was not very attentive, and messed up the order. I ordered the French toast, and the server asked if I wanted a 2 piece or a 3 piece. I said three. She came back with 3 orders of French toast. Like ma'am, what do I look like eating 3 orders of French toast? Thankfully, after explaining to her that I ordered 3 pieces and not 3 orders, she said okay and took 2 of the orders back. I felt bad for her. She looked very stressed because she was the only server in the whole restaurant. Having more people on their staff would help them a lot.
Don't skip out on this hole in the wall breakfast place. My cousin took me here for breakfast and it was delicious. It is a cute small family owned restaurant. The adobo pork belly, I would say was my favorite. The crispiness and flavor it had really hit the spot. We also just added a side of longanisa and putting those together was a perfect match. We did wish that the Tilapia was a bit more crispier but it was still good. I am more of a savory type of girl when it comes to breakfast, but I have a soft spot for Ube. I am very Filipino and love trying ube flavor things. It believe it was a mochi ube pancake because it was not the traditional pancake with ube flavoring. We got there pretty early at 10am and we got seated right away and did not wait for our food that long. I would say about 10:30, they had their waiting list piling up. I would say there was a good 3 or 4 families waiting. What I loved was that they didn't rush us to leave. I think my cousin's and I were there for maybe an hour and a half or less. They were great.
This is such a hidden gem! Highly recommend trying this spot out. The Ube pancakes were so good- you can really taste the ube and i love the chewy texture paired with the fresh fruit. The Pork Belly bowl was also a 10/10- it was so crispy and cooked to perfection. When paired with the eggs and rice it's a hit. My only critique is that I feel like the portion is a little small and wish there was at least one more strip of pork belly. The Brisket sliders were a solid choice and if you're into BBQ you'll love this- the meat was tender and flavorful and loved the pairing of the apples and onions inside. Overall i'm coming back for those ube pancakes and pork belly!! read more
After a cool day of 18 hole of at Hiddenbrooke, my friend and I decided to try out this Filipino restaurant in Pinole (it is actually located next door to City Hall). On arriving I noticed that parking was a little difficult as only street parking was available. The restaurant itself was very small with about 5 booths and 4-5 tables. There was some seating outside with 3 additional tables. I sat down and ordered the Joe's San Francisco Scramble which my friend ordered the Cheeseburger and Coconut/Blueberry pancakes specials. I also ordered a cup of their organic coffee. I am not a huge coffee drinker but since it was a cool day out I needed a cup. Why am I bringing up the coffee? Honestly it is a good cup of joe.... not to strong and not too weak. It had a pretty flavor with a slight bitter aftertaste. It was a truly enjoyable cup of coffee. My meal included hash browns and two English muffins. In many other breakfast places, the food is quite substantial but that was not the case here. It was just the perfect sized meal for an Asian person like me. The scramble, which included bacon, sausage, spinach, eggs and mushrooms, was quite good and the prices were not too overwhelming. Service was pretty quick and pleasant. If I am in the area again, I might take the opportunity to visit Sue's again. read more
We came here for Sunday brunch with the kids. I was excited because I heard that serve Filipino breakfasts (rice plates with eggs and choice of meats). The kids were excited to order French toast and we, our "silogs." The presentation of our entrees were pretty and so our tastebuds were ignited by sight. One bite of my bistek silog, I was disappointed and not surprised that it wasn't what I had hoped for. The disappointment comes from the fact that I was expecting true Pinoy flavors in this dish and the bistek had a different taste and did not have the tanginess of typical bistek. My husband ordered the longanisa silog and that too was a letdown. The longanisa had a flavor that was different than what I've had as longanisa and not even vinegar could help the flavor, which by the way, was not served. All in all, the kids really enjoyed their French toasts with a side of bacon. As long as they ate and finished their food, I was happy. Definitely not returning for Filipino breakfast but will try for breakfast cafe dishes. read more
My friend brought me here for brunch and it did not disappoint. It's a cute small diner in Pinole and when we went there wasn't any lines. I love how they have regular American breakfast items but also comforting Filipino dishes on the menu too. We ordered the adobo pork belly, Bistek Silog, and strawberry pancakes. The pork belly bowl was sooooo good. Nothing like salty sweet savory pork belly under a bed of warm rice, sunny side up eggs, and pickled vegetables on the side (which were REALLY good since the acidity help cut the fat). The meat of the Bistek Silog was soft and tender and it tasted great with garlic fried rice. The pancakes itself were okay, just your standard fluffy pancakes. I would definitely skip it for next time, but overall we had a really satisfying and filling brunch. I would love to come back to explore the rest of the menu! read more
Another spot with Filipino owners- love it! I stopped in for brunch on a Saturday and there wasn't that many people - yay for me. I hate waiting in lines. Inside looked like a renovated diner and I snagged a booth on the side. Menu is a hybrid of a ton of traditional American and Filipino breakfast and lunch items. I saw there was a Filipino dish, Bistek Silog (steak and eggs) $14 and ordered it. It came with garlic fried rice, marinated ribeye with grilled onions, 2 over easy eggs, tomato slices and pickled onions. The ribeye was tender, eggs were perfectly cooked, the pickled onions added a nice acid pop to the dish. I think the dish could have been a tad more flavorful overall but it was a solid brunch and I was satisfied. I'd love to try their pancakes, chicken fried steak, and other items next time! read more

Kinda on the fence about this place. I appreciate having a Filipino diner. What a cool idea and I'm all about taking mom to a place where she can have food that she enjoys. The strawberry waffle was fancy and really good. Mom and I both ordered the longanisa silog and it was a little disappointing. The menu said we would be having pork longanisa, which is a rich, sweet, garlicky delicious sausage that is boiled and then pan fried so that some of the meat is blackened and almost candied. A good longanisa can be haunting and live on in your memory. You could burp and still taste it and it's soooo good with just rice. Theirs was made of chicken. You can't fool me- I know when I'm being served chicken and it wasn't even singed which for me means it needs another minute in the pan. So even though I want to give them a couple of extra stars, I have to be honest and say there's room for improvement. read more

I've been hearing about Sue's Place for a while now. I think they opened up last November. So this morning we decided to check it out. Sue's Place is a family owned Filipino- American breakfast-brunch diner located in Pinole. For a small place, they sure have a big variety of items in their menu. But today, on our first time visit, we just ordered 2 items: Bistek Silog and Chicken Waffle. Bistek Silog- the beef was tender and flavorful, the garlic fried rice was tasty without getting overwhelmed by garlic, and the eggs were cooked medium as requested. So far, thumbs up! Chicken waffle- Not expecting too much on chicken waffles because they have been hit and miss for me. However, this one was a hit. The chickens were tender and tasty and the waffles were not stale but on the smaller side. I prefer big giant waffles and a big piece of chicken. Nevertheless it's acceptable. I figure if you can't make this acceptable then the rest of the items become questionable. As I mentioned earlier, Sue's Place have a big menu and will definitely come back to try the other items including Sue's Huevos Rancheras breakfast and the Brisket Silog. The food was soooooooo good! We waited for around 30 minutes cuz there were so many people on a Sunday but it was totally worth the wait. I expected a regular adobo with a side of rice but it came out perfectly balanced for brunch. The pancakes were most definitely recommended. Not only was it fluffy but the ube sauce hits the spot! My friend ordered the bistek silog and enjoyed it as well. We're definitely coming back. Our waitress was very friendly and made sure we enjoyed our food. It's a small dining area but very cozy and doesn't feel too cramped. read more

I had to check out the Ube Pancakes that my friend at work had been raving about for weeks! So today, after our morning walk, we decided to go there for brunch! To die for!!!!!! OMGGGG!!! It's so good! It's actually even better than the ones I had in Oahu! Seriously so fluffy, great taste, with bits of coconut and the sauce!!! I wanted to lick the plate!!! 100% highly recommend!! read more

Hubbers said he's been eye-ing this place for a looooong time, even way before the pandemic happened. When they finally had outdoor seating available, we were more than inclined to finally check them out. Party of 4, we came in early so we were seated immediately. Their menu was simple enough and keeping with my personal tradition, my usual dish to try at new places/cafés is the chicken fried steak. Since it wasn't too busy, our food came out pretty fast. The one thing we all noticed was that the amount of food they give is pretty massive. Our server probably saw our reactions, so she said, "I know. It's a lot. It's breakfast AND lunch." Hubbers liked his corned beef hash so much, he left nothing on his plate, so that says a lot. Mom liked her steak and eggs burrito, but it was too much for her, so she saved the other half for a 2nd meal. Pops liked his cheeseburger, but like Mom, it was too big for him as well, so he brought the other half home. As for my chicken fried steak plate... what can I say. It was YUM!!! I'm not really a fan of hash browns and I meant to tell our server to skip it but I simply forgot. I'm glad I didn't tell her, though. I don't know what made these hash browns different, but it was different because I liked it. There was a certain flavor to it that elevated it a different level than all other hash browns I tried before. The steak was breaded and seasoned thin and it was tender and delicious. The gravy did its job by being a great pair. I put all three components together and [insert chef's kiss here.] FOOD: 5. Everyone liked everything they got. SERVICE: 5. Our server was pretty interactive and entertaining. VALUE: 5. I feel like we underpaid. PARKING: Street only. OVERALL: 5. When our server came to check on us during our mid-meal, she mentioned they change their menu up a bit during the weekend - they add Filipino dishes to their menu. I might just one day check that out. [Just for laughs, I totally made a boo-boo and checked in Sue's Kitchen instead of Sue's Place. (Woops!) But I had Sue's Kitchen bookmarked so I still have full intentions of checking them out!] We had a really good first run. There will be a second visit for sure. read more

Love a good brunch place and even better when it's Filipino. Not a huge place but they did add a parklet during COVID to accommodate a few tables outside. I'm waiting to visit with my 2 friends so we can share an order of the Ube pancakes. They were sold out the first time we went and my husband is gluten-free so I can't share with him. Silogs are some of the best brunch dishes and Sue's offers a few options. Service is quick and friendly so this is quickly becoming our favorite local brunch spot. read more

I died and went to food heaven. I've been here plenty of times but today everything hit in all the best places. Ordered the longinsa scramble special and it was perfection. I asked for it unscrambled bc I am not a fan of scrambles but I'm sure it would have been good!So tasty and just enough! The hashbrowns were crisped to perfection. Decided to try the French toast and omg. It brought back memories of my mom's French toast. If I could come back everyday for the longinsa, rice and French toast I would. If you haven't tried this Pinole gem don't miss out. They make you feel at home, I can't wait to come back. read more

Food is great but these new food containers are absolutely horrible. I had asked for extra sauce but the cardboard container has absorbed it all. I unfortunately could not eat inside due to injury but these containers...... not the way to go. read more

I love this hidden gem place. The husband and I wanted to do breakfast with the kids at a local place and found Sue's place. It's a great local mom and pop shop with a Filipino twist. We have gone here 3 times! All three times were amazing. Our favorite was the pork belly, Ube pancakes, along with the Beef bistek with garlic rice. Man their food is legit. It's definitely a good go to breakfast place for us. Must try for good comfort food. read more

First time coming here and I must say I'm pleasantly surprised by their food! I had people tell me different reviews of this place and I told myself the only way I can review this place is when I try it and I'm glad I did. The inside is small and looks like the previous restaurant. I would suggest coming in early since it's a small restaurant otherwise you will be waiting. The service was good and fast and the food was very delicious! I really liked the Filipino ube pancakes as they came out hot and very fluffy. I also like how they are not over priced compared to other places in like Martinez (I won't mention their name). I will definitely come back to try other things! read more
Tried this awesome spot out with my bestie. Service was very prompt & friendly. They serve a great menu of mostly breakfast foods, many with Filipino flair. We both got the adobo breakfast bowl with a side of vinegar, longanisa & toast. Everything was super delicious! The meat for the bowl was super crispy, thick and a generous portion. We had our bowls made with garlic fried rice and scrambled eggs. Super well seasoned, not at all like normal American breakfast spots (usually season-less). It also came with some pickles- love! Super yum is all I can say to describe the food. I can't wait to go back and try more! read more

Hit the spot! On the way back to the Bay from Napa, my cousins and I were craving some hearty Filipino comfort food! The outdoor seating under a tent was comfortable. The service was nice, slightly on the slower rise, but food was delicious and worth it! Portions were great, food was absolutely delish and everything tasted just like "home". read more

great place to fulfill your breakfast cravings. has something for everyone. went on a monday after Easter. not too crowded and we got a seat right away. service was wonderful and nice. ube french toast was yummy (not as hot tempature-wise as expected ; not too warm, just room temp; maybe it was just sitting out waiting for the rest of the order for our table to be done, but it would have been nice to have it hot off the stove temp). the waffle in the "chicken&waffle" for the kids was good. the chicken was 3 chicken tenders which I did not expect (thought it was going to be like a fried chicken thigh or something). Pancakes are huge. a stack of 3 and my son only finished 1. :) read more

OMGee! A Filipino brunch place in Pinole!! So excited it's so close to home and on this side of the bridge. My guy wanted brunch but didn't want to drive all the way to Vallejo so he found this place through trusty Yelp. I felt like I let the community down by not knowing this place existed, but they've only been here since 2020. Phew! Now we just need to help them stay for decades. Inside is a blast from the past with the wooden booths, the red stool chairs at the bar to chit chat with the hosts. A real neighborhood haunt that I'm sure we're going to frequent after this. They have regular breakfast brunch items like Benedicts, omelets, pancakes and what not, but they also have bistek silog (tender marinated beef with onions, garlic rice, an egg) and their special was the longanisa scramble (sweet sausage with egg, rice and pickled onions and cucumber) Eggs perfectly cooked and they pickled the onions just right to give the acidity needed for each bite. It wasn't until later that I overheard another customer ask for the pork belly bowl that wasn't on the menu but was on the Yelp photos. They had it!! So, be sure to ask for items even if they're not on the menu that day. They might be able to accommodate. I'm looking forward to trying her French toasts or special pancakes. My husband & I went here because it was open early & we relied on Yelp giving them 4 stars. I have read of this place from a Filipino group asking us to support a Filipino owned restaurant. Since we were close by, why not support a fellow Filipino. First impression of the place: hole in the wall diner's cafe. Fine I was set to order a chicken & waffle while my husband wanted fried chicken & egg. I try to avoid eating Filipino food in a restaurant that are all over the place with their menu: Filipino, American & Mexican. Unfortunately their fryer was not working (it happens). My second choice was the Bistek Silog & husband had the Grilled chicken burger Grilled chicken burger: the chicken was as dry looking as could be. Bland taste Bistek silog: the food looked slightly appetizing. The scrambled egg was beautifully cooked: (nice of the lady , I think she's the mom of the cook to allow me to have scrambled egg instead of fried egg); the pickled onions on the side was a nice touch. Goes downhill from there. The garlic rice has zero garlic & salt taste & majority of the rice grains were tough & sticks to the grooves of your teeth. Must've been in that food warmer for quite some time that it has dried out. The bistek (beef marinated in soy sauce & citrus) does not bring out what a true Filipino bistek should taste like. What I am giving a giant 2 star rating (or maybe it should be a 1-star) is being served with BURNT onions with the bistek that it overtook whatever little taste that bistek had. I couldn't even taste the soy sauce because it tasted burnt too! Nobody, I don't care how busy you are in the kitchen cooking, should serve a burnt dish. I know, why did I eat it then & not sent it back? It was because we were in a rush to our next destination. My husband was nice enough to still leave a tip (which I was against) but he said it was for the old couple's(the cook's mom & dad?) hard work serving the people. You lost another customer, Sue. Sorry, be more authentic with your cooking & be more mindful with what you serve Side note: stop slamming the dishes after you're done plating them. Not a good thing to witness. read more
