Food was good and tasted fresh! As a vegan I was happy they had options. The restaurant is decorated nicely and is a nice temperature inside--I hate when restaurants are too cold! My only quip is that this place severely nickels and dimes you. For starters, they don't have tap water (which I'm pretty sure is illegal as a restaurant...so I will be contacting the city about that) and require you to purchase a bottle of water for $1.50. Ok, so that was annoying. Then they have the gratuity built in. We are extremely generous tippers, but having gratuity built in, even for 2 people, is extreme. Plus, the veggie version of the dish was the same price as the meat version. Idk why. That rubbed us the wrong way. That aside, the food was delicious and they gave big portions. Our bill total was $80 for dip appetizer and two entrees. So obviously expensive. TBD if we'll be back. read more

Our first time here. Had a couple good points and a couple bad points. We got the Combo for 2. the hummus came in a container smaller than my hand, the Iraqi salad was missing the cucumbers entirely so it was literally just tomatoes and onions. Both the hummus and salad were in different containers. The salad should've been in an air tight container because if leaked out all over the bag from being slightly tilted. we asked for no beef, just double chicken. Portion size of the chicken was fine. Amazing experience here. Ambiance is very inviting. It was very clean and well maintained. The manager or owner greeted us right away and got our drink orders. My husband and I ordered Turkish coffee. We had never had it before, but love to try different things. It was very smooth. We also got the appetizer platter with 4 different dips and bread. The bread was hot and fluffy and went great with the hummus. For our entrees, I got the lamb kabobs and my husband got the spicy chicken. They were both incredible. The food wasn't terrible, but it was not delicious. I was quite intrigued by their menu and was excited to try their take on traditional dishes. However, for some reason, the main dishes were all cool or cold. We ordered several entrees and appetizers, but only the Pide (cheese bread) was hot-warm. The kabob and the maqlooba were all cold. The plating is appealing and the portions are smaller, which leaves me to believe they are attempting to define their restaurant and food as more upscale and high quality. But aesthetics must be accompanied by proper food temperature and tastiness. Sorry guys, this place is a miss and a hard pass. So that you can understand my palate profile, for really tender beef kabab, I go to the Persian goodies (Shiraz and Sahara) and Iraqi restaurants (Gilgamesh and Al Baghdadi). These are my standards for good kabab in the Dallas area. Our group also had the appetizer platter, falafel, Greek salad and lamb kabab. Everyone loved it. It can get busy so a reservation is a good idea. Atmosphere is pleasant and comfortable. I'd accessed Yelp for good, authentic Mediterranean food and it suggested Sultan. I brought my family in one night to have dinner . It was still early in the evening so we're seated promptly. Our waiter gave us the menu and gave us water as the beverage we'd requested. We gave our waiter our order that included an appetizer as well as the different dishes that we wanted to try. The waiter brought our appetizer (the combo) which was very delicious, and shortly thereafter brought our meals (that was savory and was cooked to perfection). During the course of our meal we noticed that the restaurant was getting busy as more patrons were coming in, and we saw our waiter tending to the newly arrived patrons which was understandable. Midway through dinner we needed our water refilled but our waiter was no where to be found; when he did appear he kept catering to the tables near us but never stopped at our table to check if we were in need of anything. When we'd finished dinner we wanted to order dessert but our waiter never came by to ask, and again, we could visibly see him commiserating and conversing with the other customers whose tables were literally next to ours. We gave up on the idea of dessert and Just wanted to leave, but our waiter never came by with the check. I had to get up and go towards the kitchen to ask for the check; someone else came by to drop it off which I promptly paid in fear of no one coming by to pick it up (maybe I should've just walked out, then I'm sure I would've gotten plenty of attention). The food was good but the service was beyond horrendous!!! It would be really nice if you could treat your non-compatriots with the same attention and respect you extend to those who speak your language. Good-- Food is above average -- couple improvement areas: 1. Don't serve regular mayonnaise as a sauce for a $30 dish-- suggest to make in-house Turkish sauce 2. Don't charge $25 for a tea pot! We tried the family meal option as it was my first visit and this seemed like a nice way to become acquainted with the flavors. Everything was deeply flavorful. Even the rice. Even the sauces and salads. It was impressive how such simple things as chicken and rice could taste so elegant. There must be a significant process of marination for the meat to be so tender and packed with flavor without being over salted and so forth. Even the roasted tomatoes were a marvel. The restaurant itself has a welcoming and yet sophisticated ambiance with very attentive staff who seem to understand the importance of the dining experience. Music at the time of my visit was a gorgeous flute, dreamy and contributing to an exotic experience, excellent for the flavors to come. I loved the nice feel of the interior. I'm excited to go back and try other dishes as I know there is consistency in effort to make everything enjoyable and flavorful. All it takes is one time and you know the chef is pro level. The energy of this restaurant upon arriving is so lovely. I was greeted by the owner who is SO warm and generous. I am middle eastern american and wanted to eat something close to home, but I am also on a plant based diet at the moment. The owner suggested I substitute the meat on the maqluba for some mushrooms, and it came out yummy. For my appetizer, the bread was toasted, fresh and warm, and the house made hummus has a really nice texture and flavor with the tahini added in. I also think it's very interesting that they have different flavors of hummus as well, I believe they are worth a try. All in all I had a great experience, finished off my meal with some black tea. The felafel was crisp on the outside and fluffy in the middle. All the meats were flavorful and juicy. Enough food for the two of us with some to take home. The lambs flavor was good, but the portions are small for $32, The Basmati rice was cooked to perfection.The kabobs were embarrassingly small, like baby bite size small I had 3 kabobs on skewers. The waiter kept returning to our table, each time I would finish 1 Kabob, he would remove the skewer from my plate without saying a word, which was distracting and irritating. Imagine having someone reach next to your plate 3 times while you are dining and having a conversation with your party.I noticed he did the same action to the couple sitting next to us. There were 3 doors in the back, one labeled employees only, one for the women bath room and the 3rd door was closed & unmarked , which I later discovered was the men's. There was a percuilar sign near the toilet paper roll, it read something like don't flush toilet paper in the toilet...LOL, then where is this supposed to go, in the trash? Presentation of food was appetizing. Service was good. We found the food a bit bland.We also decided to try the pastry (I think it was stuffed with pistachios) and add a scoop of ice cream. That was good but NOT $17 good. $4 for a small scoop of ice cream is ridiculous. Also, there is the fact that they do not serve you water. A plastic water bottle may be bought for $2. When you spend over $70 (not including tip) for a meal at a sit down restaurant, water should be included. read more
