Super disappointed in the quality and accuracy of Sumran. This used to be my favorite Thai restaurant until lately. A month ago I ordered delivery and the food was bland, the crispy pork was stale and it wasn't the Sumran I was used to but I thought it was a fluke. Ordered again last night and was really bummed. The Pok Pok salad wasn't bad but the Spare Ribs were Super fatty and not tasty at all. There was zero spice on it and I requested spicy. The Rad Nah...well...I got half of it. They delivered the gravy with the meat and broccoli but NO NOODLES. I poured out the container thinking the noodles might be in there for some reason and it was just gravy, 4 small chunks of beef and pretty much just Chinese broccoli and the gravy tasted like warm and slimy egg whites. Safe to say, two bad experiences in a row was enough for me to find a new Thai restaurant. read more

I went to stop for a quick sushi dinner before meeting up with my husband after babysitting my granddaughter. My daughter lives across the street from this place and they had had the Thai food and told me the sushi bar looked good. It was 7:45 pm Saturday night and when I went to the door it was Locked. There were about 5-6 people starting at a table eating. When I tried to open the door I was given a dirty look and ignored as I started back to my car I noticed a younger couple going to the door, the young man kept looking at me and back to the restaurant. The young lady tried to open the locked door then pretended to pull rapidly on the door when the lady who gave me the dirty look got up unlocked the door and then ran back to her food at the table. The young man looked one more time at me before he entered. I am assuming it was a private dinner maybe for employees or whatever but there was No signage saying closing early or anything on the door. I went back just to make sure I didn't miss a sign before I wrote this review. I also reached out to them on Facebook with no response before I left this review. So I went back the next morning to see if maybe one of the signs said closed for special event or something before I left a bad review but as you can see the restaurant should of been open. Sadly they missed out on a great customer as I eat lots of sushi and my whole family loves sushi but we will not go there ever again. read more

TL;DR Legit Thai food with amazing service and accommodations. I brought my family here for the first time. Don't judge by the area or lot it's in. This restaurant has great ambiance with Thai music that is mellow and fun. The booth and chair seating is comfy and clean as well. The staff were so nice and accommodated for my family's fish allergy. The food is cooked fresh meaning no packet sauce or premade. We were able to ask the chef to cook without using oyster sauce or fish sauce. We ate: - Po Pia (Crispy Spring Roll) - Satay Fresh Roll - Sumran Pok Pok (Papaya Salad) - Eggplant Delight - Pad Thai - Pad See Ew We had a great time here and hope to come back again to try other foods. Delicious!!! The flavors is spot on! Very tasty and just right, how a Thai foods should be! I'm happy that is very close to where I live. The service is very good and fast! Portion wise, not too bad.. the green curry it comes with a bowl of rice. I thought in the online menu they have Thai boat noodle soup, but then when I went inside, the menu is a bit different. Sumran used to be goto place for thai for last 2-3 years since we moved to the area. We always ordered takeout. On Saturday night we decided to go in and were surprised to find very few customers. We ordered pad se ew and drunken noodles. Those 2 dishes are very similar but the difference in quantity was day and night. One was served with some lettuce leaves to make quantity look more sitting on top of some more fillers. It was 50% of the quantity we get when we ordered takeout. The pad se ew was maybe 20% less than what we get when we do togo. Looking at recent reviews i guess they are skimping on the quantity for to go orders too. Guys, please raise the prices and stop shrinkflation . This place would be a hard sell until recent reviews point otherwise now. No wonder this place remains popular. On a recent visit, brought a friend who is vegan(for health reasons). Staff TOTALLY able to adjust dishes (no fish sauce, shrimp paste, etc.) since they cook everything from scratch. All the while not sacrificing taste. Because of the great food, decent prices & VERY friendly & helpful staff/owners, this will remain my go-to Thai place. When I arrived at 11am to pick up the order, the host/server said they have the online order but did not start making it and that it will be 20 minutes. There was no apology or explanation, which seemed unprofessional and rude. If you are not going to make the order by the pickup time or not make an online order for whatever reason, you should refrain from offering certain pickup times for online orders or from doing online orders altogether. read more

Another good Thai spot to check out! I was greeted by Mike, very nice hospitality and the inside of the restaurant looked really nice and has a nice atmosphere overall. I ordered take out, Pad Thai & Pad Woon Sen with 2 Thai Coffees. Pricing is bit typical for most Thai places but would expect the containers to be bigger for the amount you pay. The taste is there though but they need to size up the to-go plates for sure. Still recommend to try! read more

The food here is a lot better compared to other Thai places. Not just the taste, but the price is also lower compared to other locations. The pad Thai here is savory and saucey and the curry was really good! The servers are really attentive and every time I eat here, I'm always satisfied. Sumran has added sushi to their menu and my husband and I went there to try it during lunch on a Sunday. The sushi was so good and I wish people knew more about this hidden gem in Westminster. We had the sushi sashimi, which was fresh and came with a special truffle sauce that really enhanced the flavor. I loved the fresh water eel on the soft rice. The salmon skin hand roll was also good. It was packed with fish and not fillers like carrots. To finish off, we ordered the mango and sticky rice to-go. The service was great also. The servers were polite and attentive. The ambiance was nice because there weren't many customers, but I wish this restaurant had more customers. I hope they succeed and continue to make more delicious food. This is the third time I visited Sumran and so it is time for a review. Everytime I stopped by, the service has been outstanding. The staff are always friendly and hospitable. Tonight my wife and I ordered pad ka pow (basil chicken) the crying tiger and a duck salad. The duck salad was excellent. Duck was cooked perfectly and the salad had a nice kick of spice which was balanced by a citrusy sweetness. I would definitely recommend this dish to anyone who is looking more than just an ordinary salad. The pad ka pow was great, with a good level of spice and sone sweetness from the sauce. The chicken is finely chopped as was the green beans and chili. Dish was topped with the Thai Basil leaves that completes the goodness. Lastly was the crying tiger dish. Steak was cooked perfectly and the flavor of the marinade came through nicely. The dipping sauce was excellent and complimented the steak perfectly. The only thing I would change is to have the cooks slice against the grain of the meat to ensure the tenderness of the meat (a very easy fix). In sum this is a really great little spot for some really great Thai food. It is nice to see people starting to dine in again too. read more

Was craving Thai and had not been here in a couple of years so I thought I would give take out a try. I have mixed feelings about my order. Customer Service 3 out of 5 stars Thai Iced Coffee 1 out of 5 stars Pad Thai 4 out of 5 stars Yellow Curry 3 out of 5 stars Calamari appetizer 0 out of 5 stars When I called in for takeout I asked if the rice portion would be enough for the yellow curry dish. I was told it would be. As white rice is inexpensive, I would have been happier with a larger portion. At least enough for the sauce. The iced coffee was sickly sweet with some kind of syrup. I prefer when sweet and condensed milk is used. I ended up not finishing it. Pad Thai was decent and by far the best dish we ordered. This portion of this dish was decent sized compared to the others. Yellow Curry was a little watery and there was not much rice to soak up the sauce. Flavors were just ok. The calamari were heavily breaded and greasy. More breading that calamari. I attempted to remove the breading only to find freezer burned, chewy rings. There were only very small rings. The dish was unfortunately not something I could eat. On the plus side, we ordered medium spice and the curry was medium spicy. Care was taken to package the calamari for take-out so it would not become soggy during transit. read more

I've ordered takeout from here since and the portions are quite small for how much I paid for it, especially in comparison to the pictures. I feel ripped off. Went here for the first time yesterday to pick up food after a serious Thai craving hit. We've visited Thailand about a year ago and I have to say, this was just like being back. The panang curry is delicious and the quality of the chicken very good. We had the Pad Kee Mao with beef which was also yummy (and not too spicy as we had requested "medium"). We'd probably go a little higher on the spice next time. The pineapple fried rice was full of awesome veggies and probably my favorite thing. Cream cheese wontons were light and fluffy and the dipping sauce was good although not enough was given. I'm deducting one star, although I really want to take away more, because, when you walk in, there is a big plastic sheet hanging over part of the bar with a sign that says masks are required and you must maintain 6ft. social distance. Hooray - thank you! HOWEVER, the boy at the counter, not behind the plastic sheet, had his mask around his neck. Then, he went back to the kitchen like this to check on my order and I could see that the kitchen staff did not have masks on at all. This is unacceptable. You're cooking food...that I'm going to put into my face... You're putting me at so much risk by serving me food that you're cooking and bagging without a mask on. The food was truly delicious but as I told the boy when I left, I will not be back until COVID has long passed as I don't believe in taking this risk for some takeout. They have a sign saying that service may be delayed due to staffing but we were helped right away & our server Jr. was great & the food came out fast. I'm not sure what changed since we last came but everything was delicious & very flavorful! My husband ordered the spicy rice with Shrimp (we were told the spiciness was between mild & medium but definitely closer to medium for us) & I ordered the green curry with veggies. Both were great & my husband used some of my curry to cut the spice of his rice. We didn't realize we had been here before until I started to leave this review. We will definitely be back & this could become a regular & possibly weekly spot for us. Ever since I got Covid, my tastebuds haven't been the same but the food tonight was very flavorful for not only my husband but for me also. Thank you for a great meal!! Past Review: Service was good. I'm thankful they are open for dine in. Food was good & portions were ok but could definitely be larg. My husband had the spicy rice with tofu, it was good but not as flavorful as others we've had.
