Never tried kbbq with only duck as an option before, so when a friend suggested this place, I had to give it a try out of curiousity. They really do only serve sliced duck here, and at $48.99/serving, it was definitely at a higher price point than the typical kbbq places in Ktown. But boy, did it not disappoint! The duck was not gamey at all, and when cooked, smelled so good and was so tender and delicious! The staff and lots of yelpers mentioned to actuall try tasting some of the duck fat that cooks off because it is really clean and supposedly even healthy. Tbh, it really was! Lots of good banchan to help diversify the flavors, and the fried rice at the end made with the duck fat was chef's kiss. Love trying new things!

Finally got around to trying Sun Ha Jang that's been on my list for at least a year!! Came for a good friend's birthday and the menu is very straightforward: They only serve DUCK Slice Korean BBQ and charge $48.99/plate (1 plate/person). They pre-portion all the sides per person as well (bean sprouts, chives, radish, and pickled onion and Salad), and the auntie will cook it for you. I recommend saving the kimchi for the fried rice at the end. Surprisingly, the duck was tender! Quite fatty and they use some kimchi to block the grill's hole to keep all the fatty oils to make Fried Rice at the end...so be careful with oil splatter! I highly recommend getting garlic cloves (they will throw onto the the grill as well) and some chili sauce. Auntie knew it was our first time, so she showed us how to properly eat: grab some salad into your plate, grill the duck meat and put duck piece on salad, grab a little bit of the chives, radish and pickled onion and eat together in one bite! =P After you're done with all the duck meat, auntie brings out the purple rice to fry with all the rendered duck fat oils and throws in the kimchi and left over chives. In the end you get some crispy kimchi fried rice with duck fat. It does get to be a little heavy, so I don't think it's a place to frequent often. BUT! Our group of 4 enjoyed it. :) Restrooms were clean. Service was quick. The parking honestly is no bueno - they have a small lot with like four spaces + a couple of handicap spots...otherwise you have to find street parking. We got lucky and got a spot in their lot. Their outside signage is in Korean, so you'll have to follow and look for the actual address.

Must try: Duck Korean BBQ! Why: A KBBQ spot with a simple menu of just duck?! We had to try and loved it! We started with banchan sides and salad as the server cooked the duck. When the duck was cooked we ate it on top of salad with banchan sprouts and radish - incredible flavors and textures! Now, can we talk about that duck fat?! Take a spoon and sip it like soup - just wow! We ended with Korean fried rice cooked in that duck fat. We love crispy rice so press the rice down and cook it longer to get more crispy rice on bottom. Also, save a few slices of duck to enjoy with your fried rice. Notes: The restaurant was easy to find and has a small parking lot in front. We went on a weekday at 6pm and there were a few parking spots available - lucky us! Hole in the wall feeling and clean inside. Half of the tables were filled so we got to sit immediately. Simple menu but the server was helpful in providing an overview and recommendations especially since it was our first time. Will definitely come back and add Garlic Cloves. It was $48.99 per person - worth the experience and allowing your taste buds to indulge in delicious duck!

All done!!! After they bring the rice and make fried rice with the duck oil. Sooo delicious and savory!

This is the only duck bbq place I've ever been to, but both experienced have been amazing. The duck is very flavorful and doesn't taste weird or gamey around all. It's almost like a cross between pork and chicken. The oil leftover from the duck is surprisingly pretty clean and tasty. (I heard from someone that it's healthy actually). At the end they bring the purple rice and make an amazing fried rice out of it, incorporating most of the side dishes. Speaking of side dishes, they have some unique homemade ones: pickled onions, shaved radish kimchi, and chives. So fresh and so delicious. The service is really good too. It's owned by the family that started it and they have family working there. When it's not too busy they stop by and converse with you even. They are all super friendly and nice people. Beware that they close at 8pm!

One word: DUCK! Even though only serve one thing, it is freaking good. Along with the duck, you get salad and banchan. They have been on Jonathan Gold's list for best restaurants to try and also made it onto the L.A. Times 101 best restaurants. So I can see why. It's nothing like I've had anywhere else. The service is great. Staff are so attentive and friendly. It's a small place but it very cozy. And unlike beef bbq, duck doesn't leave a smell or create heavy smoke.

One of THE most unique, delightful, and incredibly delicious restaurants I've ever been to. They essentially have one main menu option, a decadent but healthy duck meal. The duck is cooked right in front of you and doesn't even need any seasoning -- it's THAT good. It is usually eaten together in bites with side dishes though. Apparently this is the only place in the world with Korean style duck bbq! The owners came up with this idea because they wanted to make a healthier version of kbbq. Duck fat is actually really healthy, almost like olive oil. You can even drink it directly with a spoon... and we did. Mind blown. The staff are also incredibly nice. It's run and entirely staffed by a small and adorable family who are super friendly. They even wrote us a list of other food recommendations in LA when they heard we were visiting! Overall, I'm already so eager to go back. Will definitely be an "every single time I'm in LA I will go here" kind of place!

This spot only serves duck. And salad. So if you're looking for other types of meat, this is not your spot. Having said that, and having no idea what the menu looked like, it's not exactly the type of duck that I was expecting. I've only had duck prepared the Chinese way, which is roasted or barbecued. Instead, they give you a lot of thin duck slices that you fry at your table. Along with that, they give you some veggie side dishes to complement the duck, including a nice large salad. As many of you foodies know, duck is pretty fatty. So once all the duck has been fried, it leaves a pool of rendered duck fat that they mix in with the last, and best, item of the night: the rice fried in duck fat. Really, really rich and tasty. Loved it. As for the duck itself, it's a mild flavor and a bit chewy. And they give you tons of it. You will get your money's worth. It's best eaten with the veggie sides and the salad. My only wish is that they had a sauce (maybe a sesame) along with some salt to give the meat some flavor. Other than that, it's a solid spot and something you should try if you're into duck.

When you think of Korean BBQ, the first thing that comes to mind likely isn't duck. But there's a reason I continue to come back despite so many food options in K-town. You know how when you have a lot of beef KBBQ you can feel really heavy and gross? I felt that, surprisingly, the duck bbq doesn't leave me feeling that way. The duck bbq paired with the house salad, pickled onion, chives, and the thinly sliced radish kimchi paired really well together and was both a filling yet refreshing bite. At the end of your meal, they make a fried rice for you on the grill in all the duck fat. Pro-tip: let it sizzle in there for a bit so the rice gets crispy and you low key have to scrape it off the pan with your spoon. Quirks: You do have to order one order of duck per person, but don't worry that's a good amount. We usually end up ordering more. And you have to ask for water. It's a mom and pop shop, the owner really took care of us while we were eating.

Small hidden gem in the middle of Ktown, a unique KBBQ spot that serves only duck. At $50 a serving, you'll get all the Banchan, salad and a kind host/server/owner. She was great enough to show the differences compared to other KBBQ spot( like the AYCE kind). The duck is delicious and different flavor compared to what I'm used to. Paired the meal with makgeolli and friends, perfect prior to the spa!

This place is def worth the long drive from the OC to try. Our server Jet was fantastic. He took the time to explain how to cook the duck and how best to eat it. For two, we were piggies and ordered three plates of duck. It was $45 per plate of duck. Each person at the table has to order a plate which is fine. A plate per person is definitely enough food. The homemade banchan were all delish and went perfectly with the duck. You can leave the duck on the grill longer in the oil to let it get more crispy. We ordered the garlic and that was the best decision ever. After they were soft and golden brown, we ate them with each bite of duck and it was glorious! At the end of the meal, they add rice and fry it in the duck fat with the left over banchan, meat and garlic. I will def come back again! Oh last thing is they close at 8:30 and last seating is at 7:30. So make sure you get there early.

Mark Wein's DUCKumentary brought me here, aka his Korea Town Food Tour YT video. Ok hear me out on my review. .:: The Gist of Things, aka house rules ::. *$39.99 for a plate of duck slices, which EVERY person of the party must order one. -which is totally fine. But they only brought us 3 plates..... ? and then stopped so we asked for more and she said "oh you want another one?" but they charged us for 5-6 people aka 5 -6dishes.. hmmmm (we had 5 people) *Water is served only upon request .:: Food / Drinks::. Duck Slices $39.99/plate: as you know this place only serves duck which is interesting as most kbbq places do not serve duck. so you are stuck with ONE cut of the duck. i read reviews that prior to covid, they had different cuts to switch things up. So just be prepared for that. You know when you go to kbbq places, you like that they have a variety. But they dont here, so its the same tasting meat. Basically you lay the meat with the salad they bring and dip the meat in the salt/pepper and eat it all together. The first few bites I have to say was pretty good as it was unique to experience duck bbq. But tbh it's more of a try one time to say I've tried it. I wouldn't come back often Garlic Cloves $5: next time im bringing my own slices and pouring it on LOL. But a great addition to the bbq as it bathes in the pool of duck fat Fried Rice $10.99: at the end they fry it in the duck fat, which Mark Weins tiled his head for, but starting to question his head tilts. It was not bad, but super soggy rice from the pool of duck fat they cooked it in. Expected more of a crispy rice. Chamisul Soju $11.99: price for one bottle, original, non flavored. .:: Service / Ambiance / Parking ::. It was def tough as there was a language barrier. I feel like she didnt understand us half the time and we didnt understand her half the time. It was hard communicating what we meant. We asked for flavored soju if they have any and she brought the original and said "very good" and we tried to covey flavored soju but it didnt go anywhere. We were trying to clarify the # of duck plates received but obviously we didnt understand each other. I mean dont get me wrong, I appreciate my Ahjumma, cuz it just means the place is authentic. Came on a Sunday night at 6:30pm and got seated immediately for a party of 5. There is no fancy decor, as it is literally family business so very basic yellow walls and brown chairs. Parking lot was pretty small but we found parking easily just around the corner. .:: COVID PROTOCOLS as of 1/11/2022::. -staff wore masks -menu and sign states to wear masks at all time besides eating, and even when you go to the restroom wear your mask -paper menu (laminated), hopefully they wipe down -paper receipt (not contactless) -Checks vaccination card and ID for ALL members

    Banchan, sauces, and salts

Korean BBQ duck?! YES YES AND YES! Still smacking my lips post-meal. AMBIENCE (4/5) We appreciated the tented outdoor seating amidst Covid. Added benefit: no lingering BBQ aromas post-meal! FOOD (5/5) Our group thoroughly enjoyed the entire meal: -four refreshing banchan dishes, perfect for pre-meal snacking and as duck accompaniments -sliced BBQ duck breast, grilled tableside by our efficient server -unlimited house green salad, an unexpected and refreshing complement to the duck -ducking good fried rice made with the duck fat, kimchi, purple rice, and cut greens -cold barley tea, a perfect pairing for the richness of the duck meal SERVICE (4/5) Super efficient and polite!

I have no idea how much valet parking is here. We were a small party of two. Upon arrival, we were notified they were out of RICE. Um..what?? That's a good problem (for them to have) but not for consumers. I feel this really limited our options to just soup. I honestly didn't want soup but there wasn't much else we could order. The bowls were large and came out piping hot. It was a satisfying meal and not too heavy. The price point was on the pricey side. Our waiter told us business has not been the same post covid. Some dishes are between $40-$60. I asked for a soup and they were able to make it less spicy. My friend got a soup with dumplings in it. He put a good amount of soy sauce to give the broth some life. Now, our Korean friends lament the loss of their favorite pork joint in the city. The Koreatown proper location is located in the Royal Plaza mini-mall, just a few blocks off bustling Wilshire. Discounted parking is available in a lot across the street from the Chevron gas station. From the street, the entrance is flanked by potted plants and an enclosed street-ery. Inside, stainless steel chairs are pressed up against wooden tables, each outfitted with a metal grill. Oppressive fluorescent lighting shines down on the stone grey walls, which are left undecorated apart from a few flatscreens. Multi-lingual chatter blends with the sizzle of platters. I visited with some friends for a weeknight dinner, and about half of the tables were occupied. We shared a spread of grilled platters and sizzling soups. The meal began with a carafe of barley tea and a mostly standard spread of banchan. Across our food, the best dish was the signature Charbroiled Pork Spare Rib. The ribs were flavorful without feeling gamey, and the meat was complemented by sweet caramelized onions. The pork ribs handily outdid the good-not-great Charbroiled Beef Short Rib. Lastly, the Milt and Cod Rose with Vegetables stew was fishy and briny, appropriately flavored for the Korean palate. The service was appropriately attentive, although I would've appreciated more intentional refills of our banchan ramikens. The rib plates cost upward of $35 each, while the soup was just under $30. The portions were hearty; a single entree platter could reasonably feed 2 moderately hungry bellies. It's a shame to hear that Ham Ji Park has closed; I'm kicking myself for not trying their pork neck stew earlier.

We enjoyed the Large Beef Combo. There were 5 of us, but my grandaughter is a vegetarian. The meat, all the sides, the service, the atmosphere, everything was perfect. As for my grandaughter, she found plenty to eat that allowed her to enjoy the experience as well. I would recommend Ahgassi Gopchang to everyone. At least try it once. You will keep coming back.

The service, however, was outstanding and definitely one of the highlights of our visit. If it's your first time visiting, finding the entrance can be a little confusing. We parked on the street and spent a few minutes trying to figure out where to go. For anyone visiting, it's much easier to enter through the parking lot, where the restaurant entrance is located. The banchan (side dishes) were quite good, and I really enjoyed the atmosphere inside. The decor was fun and unique, making the dining experience feel more special. Overall, the food was good, the service was excellent, and the ambiance was enjoyable. I'd come back, especially for the service and the overall experience.
