[[HIGHLIGHT]]Overall this place feels very nostalgic of sushi restaurants growing up.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Located in a plaza where there's a supermarket, nail salon, the parking lot get filled quickly. The menu had straight to the point sushi- no trendy new rolls which is good from time to time. Our server was so sweet. I got the crunchy roll and spicy tuna roll and you can tell that the rolls are made with such care. I would dine here again.

This unassuming place just blew my mind! After I finished up some lash service Nextdoor I decided to go to this place since I'm hungry and didn't wanna drive far. My only regret is I didn't know about this place before today! Food wow, fresh, taste on point and the serving is huge. For the amount of food you get, this place should be charging more. Seems to be run by a Japanese couple, making the experience more authentic. This decor reminds me of those small restos in Tokyo. I can't emphasize enough how good this place is so definitely coming back. I can't even wait to go home to do the review. Hopefully more people discover this Japanese restaurant.

Everyone enjoyed their meal at this Japanese restaurant last time. [[HIGHLIGHT]]From the outside it looks like a hole in the wall establishment, but they serve some.[[ENDHIGHLIGHT]] Fresh and great Japanese cuisine in my opinion. Everything that we ordered tasted so authentic ( considering that I have been to Japan before) and the service wasn't bad at all.

Sushi Anza is a small restaurant with a calm environment! It wasn't busy at all on a Saturday night. We ordered the fried calamari appetizer, the salmon bowl, and the chirashi deluxe. The calamari was tasty, but had super thick pieces in comparison to other places I've ordered. The breading was also falling off on a lot of the pieces. The salmon was good, but wasn't as fresh as it could've been. Sushi Anza was good, but there are better sushi places in the Torrance area in my opinion.

Great place to have a small dinner bites if you are tired or not felling cooking. Always fresh and fast service.

Sushi Anza is a small mom & pop hole-in-the wall Japanese restaurant in Torrance. It's been around for awhile so it's a go-to place for a chill casual night out. The restaurant is really small and doesn't have a lot of tables inside so I like coming here for takeout. They get a bunch of takeout orders so order way ahead of time because it takes awhile. This place is great for sushi. My favorite roll to get is the eel avocado roll. The staff is very nice and friendly. Parking is free and in front of the restaurant. Can't wait to come back here again!

If you want to try Osechi (Japanese New Year's feast), this is the best place to get it from!!! You need to order it ahead of time and pick up on Dec 31. It was $218 including tax this time. It was sooooo well worth it. Everything was fresh. So many different items!! We decided to have it right away as NY Eve dinner (which is already NY in Japan!) We wormed up the snapper in the oven, but everything else was great as is. We enjoyed it with another couple, and it was more than enough for 4 of us. Chef Kazu and his wife Kazumi are a great couple. We go have sushi and sake there once in awhile. And their sake tasting events are insanely fun. It's a tiny place, so make sure to reserve your seat for it. :):)

Quiet hidden gem in Torrance. There hasn't been a review in a while, but I echo all the positive sentiments that came before me. Great food, beautiful decor, kind service, and amazing price. Some memorable moments: - the shrimp tempura was a light batter and soft which allows the flavor of the shrimp to shine - both the taco and burrito were good. But I recommend getting one of them and not both, or else too much rice - I had the sashimi chefs choice platter which had great selection. The uni was particular memorable in taste. - the toro handle was was half at $6.5. Simply unbeatable price. Highly recommend folks to come check out this restaurant

Consistently good food. Portions are generous. Great service with a very laid back setting.

Such a hidden gem! Sushi Anza is one of the few authentic Japanese sushi joints in the area. It's a family-owned small business that serves some of the freshest fish i've ever had and the owners always provide great service. They also have sake tasting events where you get to try some of the best sake imported from Japan--make sure you make a reservation for that early because spots fill up fast!! Overall an amazing culinary experience and can't wait to come back

The bad: the food/order pick-up system for items that need to be grilled/fried is chaotic. You're given a number to pick up your order by the cashier and directed to the pick up window. There is someone assigned to the grill area and a different person handles the side dishes. There does not appear to be any system of communication between the two areas such that the protein is held under the heat lamp area until the other person adds the side dish (fries, coleslaw, etc) to complete the order. To make things even more chaotic, the staff does not consistently call out numbers when to food is ready for pickup. Instead, the customers crowd the pick up area calling out their own order numbers to see if it's ready. The staff is nice and they seem to try their best overall, but their current system needs to be improved.

I had business in the same shopping center and decided to drop in for lunch…read more Torrance Tavern is restaurant bar located in a shopping center. Needless to say, there is plenty of parking. The interior is neat and clean. There are various types of seating (bar; table; booth; high-tops; communal), and plenty of screens to watch sports. On this occasion, I ordered the Tavern Fish & Chips ($22). It is described as "Alaskan cod coated in a tempura beer batter and served with French fries, tartar sauce and yuzu herb coleslaw". The positives of this dish are that it was prepared well. Both the fish and chips tasted good. The presentation was also nice; which leads to the coleslaw: The coleslaw tasted good, too; but I was surprised the serving was so spare. It's almost as if it was served just to optically balance the presentation in the basket. (See photo shared,) And while the price was not unreasonable, feel it's creeping towards expensive (relative to serving size). I'll attribute this to rising input costs. Staffing might be an issue during the lunchtime service. Service was okay, but they seemed to be understaffed. It's possible that most of their business is done after 5pm.

And England Fish & Chips had been on my radar ever since it popped up, I think, from someone else's Yelp review or YouTube channel. This small spot is in the corner of a strip mall and I've heard the lines can be long at peak hours but at 3pm on a Wednesday, it was a breeze and the friendly and smiling owner gladly took my order. I ordered a "Snacker" Fish & Chips for 7 bucks and change and it came out after perhaps a 5 minute wait after ordering and piping hot. HOLY MOLY; this place is LEGIT. My go-to spot for Fish 'n Chips in L.A. has always been Ye Olde King's Head in Santa Monica but this place is closer and truly delicious. For just over $7, you get a very large piece of fish and a huge helping of fries. The breading is delicious and perfectly crispy. The fish inside is delicate, flakey and moist. Your meal is served with ketchup and delicious tartar sauce but I'm a traditionalist and love dousing my F&C with Malt Vinegar which is on every table in the joint. I did cheat and tried the tartar sauce for some variety and it was fantastic. What an amazing hidden gem! TIKI DAVE HIGHLY HIGHLY RECOMMENDS England Fish & Chips! If you like TIKI DAVE's reviews... Eh...just ok. Deluxe Platter- Looked great! Tasted, just ok. The shrimp was delicious, wish I had gotten all shrimp. The scallops were pretty good too. It said it comes with 5 scallops, but we each got at least 8 or 9. They were small, but tasty. The fish though, a little disappointed. It was "watery" and the batter had absolutely no salt/seasoning on it. Same with the fries. No salt at all. My Mom liked it better than I did, but even she complained that it needed salt. The owners were super friendly and I'm glad they do a good business. Might be a one and done for me though.

Once inside, there were quite a few customers. The atmosphere felt very old-school and slower paced, with more of an older crowd. The girl taking the order was very friendly, which I appreciated. I ordered the Three P's fish and chips, jumbo shrimp, and a large coleslaw. After taking it home, I thought the fish tasted light and fresh, and the fries were pretty good too. Overall, I thought it was decent. My mom, however, felt the food was a little soggy and could've been cooked a bit longer. She also mentioned the batter on the fish had a slightly sweet taste, almost like a donut or cake batter rather than a traditional fish batter.
