This sushi bar is honestly the worst sushi bar I have ever had. I ordered a tiny sashimi roll, and a tuna roll and they charged me 23 dollars for just that first of all. Secondly they were absolutely rude and the service was complete garbage. I wanted to punch their server in the face because of how bad he was at his job and the owner the sushi man I am assuming was very rude and acted like I wasn't even there. Thirdly I placed my order over the phone and I came in to pick up my order and I was waiting there for 25 mins to get my food. The cashier forgot to give the sushi man my food ticket and it was just one huge mess. And you would think most good establishments would offer a discount or free food for the inconvience they caused but they just acted like I wasnt even there. Honestly contemplating whether or not I should drive my car through there restraunt and let them collect the insurance because this sushi bar is obviously hurting really bad and can't afford good service, workers, quality, or a good sushi man. The sushi man took 35 mins to make me this. Just look in the photos please, do not come to this establishment they will rip you off, and ruin your entire night. I was hoping it would be a good late night meal after getting home from the gym but boy now I'm 24 dollars less rich and barely even full. Now time to cook another meal since the food was so janky and little. Its like if I had ordered off the children's menu. Any other sushi bar I have gone to I have left full and satisfied for less than 20 dollars for myself, i am 6'2" 190lbs and this wasn't even like a snack for me. I feel like each and every time I come here, the sushi gets better and better. The service is good. I always sit at the sushi bar and the chef is super mellow and friendly. This place is never really busy, which is sad because it's so good! They should be packed! My most favorite sushi spot ever they are super sweet here & this is the only place I come to for sushi. It's super good & for a cheap price ($5-7 for sushi) they also play cool rock music and they have pictures of their guests all over the walls which show how much they care. This is a little gem of a hole-in-the wall that my family has gone to probably 6-7 times in the last year. As Bri W mentioned, the $1.80 hand roll happy roll is a great value. Atmosphere is very quaint. They have photos of sushi and dishes repeated around the room. The Dragon roll looks like a dragon. The also have mummified fish attached to the wall, and one fish even has a cigarette in its mouth. As you walk in, the kitchen is situated to your left, and the chef's peak out of a pass window. They have a flatscreen TV on the back wall that is constantly tuned to a Japanese channel. We watched a Japanese fishing show w/ lots of weird Japanese consumer product ads. My daughter usually orders the fried tofu (great sauce), the crunch roll, the umago (scrabbled egg sushi) and the gyoza appetizer. The fried food comes straight out of the fryer, and can be scalding-hot. We tried the fried oyster, which came with 6-7 oysters (fresh!) with the tonkatsu sauce (like A1 but not as sour) and a nice salad ($6.80). Overall quality of the sushi is good. For the price, it is value. I've had better yellowtail and toro elsewhere (explains the 3-star rating - A-OK), but usually and much higher prices. Last night, they had 1 waitress and the place was 1/2 filled. She was attentive and polite, but she was spread a bit thin. My hair cutter also visits (and recommends) this place quite often, and says its opened late (2am?). She says the owner/sushi chef will sit down w/ her group, chat away, and keeps the sushi coming. I really enjoy the authenticity of Japanese sushi here and the ambience of the restaurant. I come often with friends who are on friendly terms with the chef - something I admire in small businesses. If you want real sushi, not the fusion crap with cream cheese and mango they add at chains, this is the place to go. There's a happy hour and they stay open late. It didn't happen....I ordered the Anza Roll and the Sushi Burrito for about $21 to go ....uhhh not worth it at all. It took quite a while to make and the place was fishy and stuffy inside. The raw fish was warm, service was horrible, and couldn't help but feel they were discriminating on us- either because I had two toddlers with me or because I was Latina. Either way, they will never get my money again! We were seated only one other family (Asian) of three were eating. It took them approx. 10 mins. to simply give us a menu and water. My husband and I often come here during their happy hour since we live down the street. This place has pretty good quality sushi for a cheap price. How can you beat the $1.80 hand rolls during happy hour! We are not big drinkers, but we do eat a lot and our total bill was $30 which included 4 hand rolls, potato croquettes, and a sushi combination plate. read more

Great little authentic Japanese mom and pop sushi restaurant in South Torrance. It's tucked away in the corner of the Vons/CVS shopping center so there's plenty of parking but it's also hard to find. Service is great as the restaurant only holds about 30 people at max capacity and when we have gone there's only been a few tables filled and 2 waitresses so we are constantly being checked in on. They have one of the better Happy Hours with great priced Japanese beer and $2.95 hand rolls with various kinds of fish. The salmon skin salad is also a must and if you are ok with eating the odds and ends of various fish, the sashimi salad is very filling and they definitely do not skimp on the amount of sashimi in it and the dressing on the salad is really the topper. We had craving for Sushi and it was great to find this place which was open late. We came to grab something to go so we can't comment too much on the service. However, the server was nice as we made our order. The actually food was nothing to write home about. We ordered chicken and sushi and a rainbow roll. The chicken tasted spoiled and bland in my opinion. The sushi was actually pretty good. The roll was mediocre, somewhat watery. I know describing a roll as watery is a weird description but that's actually what I thought as I ate it. My wife is loves ginger and always eats it, however this time she didn't care for it. Total diamond in the rough! Super authentic. I've been coming here regularly for years (since it opened)...my taste buds can't get enough of this place. When I crave sushi, I come here. Total mom and pop place that feels like family. Super friendly service, awesome happy hour (until 7), cool special events (like sake tasting parties), and amazing traditional Japanese dishes (along with delicious Southern California twists on Japanese dishes). My kids also LOVE this place, especially their fish and chips (they use a special oil to fry the fish and make the French fries...really good) and desserts.
