In the past I have left gleaming five star reviews here, but today their service left an extremely bad taste in my mouth. I have been coming to Sushi Cafe for around three years, and always had delicious food and excellent service. Today I returned, after having not been there for a couple of months. I had a very severe illness and spent months last year in Intensive Care, and looked very frail about a year ago. Since then, I have gained weight to fill my face and body out (mind you- I am still a size XS women's, and only about 105 lbs and my illness is not gone). I also have developed kidney issues, leaving me with a lot of bloating and edema in my cheeks. Today at my table two waitresses hovered over our party the entire time, commenting on my weight and round face. I heard about my full face, my "curvy figure", and my weight gain and physical appearance throughout my whole meal. It was really difficult to enjoy the meal that we paid $73 with two waitresses commenting on my body fat percentage the entire time. So much so that the other member of my party became uncomfortable. I really would have preferred to have been laughing and conversing with my family member instead. This is extremely inappropriate behavior for the service industry, and despite the fish being high-quality, it made me never want to return after years of enjoying meals there. Commenting on someone's weight is a sure way to make someone never return to your establishment again. I wouldn't recommend this place based on this. Two young ladies who bussed the table and brought the meal were very kind and helpful. I hope they got the entirety of the tip because I am appalled by the two older ladies' behavior- and I know they own and manage the restaurant. Not recommended. read more

I have forgotten how much I enjoy this restaurant. A friend and I went there yesterday for lunch and it was absolutely enjoyable. First off I want to say it is really a treat to sit down and have a lunch meal without feeling rushed. The atmosphere was very calming. The music was soft and soothing and the lighting is muted. It really is a wonderful environment and of course the company was delightful. The food definitely did not disappoint. Actually, I've never had a bad meal here. My friend started with Gyoza (Pan fried meat and vegetable filled dumpling) with main course being the Dynamite sushi roll (Salmon, crab, asparagus, deep-fried with hot sauce and mayo). She took home part of her meal since it was so satisfying and filling. Normally, I'd like to venture out and try something new but since I haven't been here in so long, I decided to go with some favorites. I started with the vegetable spring roll and then I had the Sakura roll (raw Tuna, cream cheese, avocado, krab, wrapped in soy paper and cucumber served with a spicy sauce). Wow, just so refreshing. The flavors were so clean and everything blends in so perfectly together. I also was full, so I took some back to the office with me (they never made it home). I definitely will not allow as much time to go by as I did this last time before I visit this restaurant again. I came here for lunch, my friend had the lunch special which includes a California roll, tuna roll and 4 pieces of sushi. If you want Sushi in New Tampa The Sushi Cafe is a must try. For those of you who do not like Sushi they have a large menu of fully cooked options that includes Chicken, Beef, Fish (not raw) & Vegetarian dishes! The servers are fantastic. Not only are they attentive after only a few visits they remembered not just what I like to order, but tiny details like how I don't like cucumbers in my salad, and even what my kids like! I did stop short of 5 stars only because I would like to see some more Sushi options, like Kani Su. However if you know a Sushi place that you think is better please let me know. If I could give this restaurant 10 stars I would. Beyond having amazing food, they have extraordinary service. I have been coming here for awhile now, and I have been by myself, with friends, and with my mom many times. We are here at least once a week these days. To begin their food is great quality. The fish is extremely fresh and I love their salmon roll- my mom loves the salmon katsu roll. Their nigiri and sashimi is also delicious, and all of their sauces are great too. Be sure to ask for ponzu, you won't regret it. They have great appetizers including Yakitori and fried tofu, both their salad and soup are great as well. My favorite part of this restaurant is the service. Tina and Amy are both amazing and kind women, who have been patient with me and my family and incredibly accommodating. Finding the right sushi place is so hard! Some of them are so expensive and have the worst quality of food/not enough rolls to justify ordering! Some of the more affordable sushi places just give you a few of the "plainer" rolls to choose from and have a limited menu. However, not this place! I stumbled upon them after doing some Christmas shopping and I wanted something nice and simple. I didn't see an online ordering option, but I was able to quickly place my order by phone (oops typo was here previously!) and was quoted 20 mins for pick up. When I say this place was busy, this place was BUSY! Parking in front of the restaurant is a joke, and at no fault of the owners. So I recommend parking to the side of the building to avoid the congestion that happens in front of the restaurant. When I got there there were people already waiting in the entry way of the restaurant to be seated and a few picking up to go orders as well. The women at the front desk were super polite and friendly. Since it was so busy my food took a little longer than quoted, but I could tell it was all freshly prepared! I made sure to get my yum yum sauce and I was out the door! Let me just say this sushi was soooo good, hit the spot and was well worth what I paid! I'd say the pricing of the sushi is reasonable and they aren't stingy on how many rolls they give you. I only wish I had taken a picture of it before I dug in! I am here because of my yelp friend Mel said lunch here has deal and they are good. Friday lunch is busy. I got their lunch special sashimi. It has 12 pieces slide. The tuna and salmon slice is thick pieces. The yellow tail is thinner but at lease they provide it with masago. The white fish I don't know. These slices lay on white radish. It is actually good deal for $12. It come with choice of side with miso soup or salad. The sushi chef is very fast paste. They can roll out the sushi is great speed. There are a few things I refused to get take-outs during the pandemic: Sushi, pho, and charcuterie board. Fresh sushi was definitely on number 1 list of things we've missed and we weren't disappointed! This cafe is our neighborhood choice for good sushi. It has something for us as well as the girls. We could tell a lot of people must have missed dining in here as there were since it was pretty busy! The restaurants was well prepared and maximized the space they had to keep everyone social distanced. The entire staff wore the masks. We were seated quickly and was able to order pretty fast. We got the sushi dinner and two different types of rolls, the Dynamite roll with spicy tuna and the Pink Lady roll with spicy salmon. We also got chicken katsu for my youngest. I really appreciate how generous portions are here and the sushi is very fresh. The pink lady roll was under $10 and was the best special roll imo. The chicken katsu comes with plenty of rice and awesome vegetable sir fries. For the sushi dinner and the katsu meal you get awesome teriyaki vegetables. I usually let my youngest eat her katsu and rice and eat all the vegetables. The dinners come with salad and the choice of miso or clear mushroom soups, which are tasty. The past few months of nothing but successful visits warrants Sushi Cafe a bump up to five stars. I appreciate their extensive menu more than ever now that I'm allergic to wheat. About half of their maki rolls are naturally gluten free! Staff let me know that the eel and eel sauce contain wheat, so they modify rolls accordingly. They also offered to substitute any shrimp tempura roll with steamed shrimp. They are extremely accommodating and careful of allergy issues. Sushi Cafe still provides the freshest and most flavorful sushi in the new Tampa / Wesley Chapel area. I just wish I could take this place home with me to the west side of Tampa! read more

Sushi Cafe popped up on my Uber Eats and I was floored by the price, but decided to order any way and wow.... Just wow... the food was really good and the sushi was super fresh. Fast forward to now and I decided to go to the restaurant and check it out, it's intimate and the service seems great. We ordered to go but the prices are much better in person and like half of you go for lunch (though I'm sure the serving is less) The chicken katsu was delicious and though it's very expensive it's a ton of food and prepared very well. For the north Tampa area, this is one of my top sushi recommendations. I used to live closer and went every 2 weeks or so, but I moved further away so now I don't get to go much. Krab Rangoon are a must for me. We always order them and are never disappointed. The sweet chili sauce it comes with is the best sauce I've had with Krab Rangoon. I love simple sushi where I get mostly fish with rice, and the Hawaii roll and tuna rose roll are 2 amazing rolls to get just that. Dip in some soy sauce and Wasabi and you have as close to perfection in your mouth you can get. Hawaii rolls are very large so be careful because it's not your typical one bite rolls (I still do though. Can't help myself). Service isn't the best because they have a ton of takeout (like 3x that of the people in the restaurant) but the foods so good it's worth the wait. read more

Very impressed with the cleanliness of the establishment and the quality of food. The dining area was buzzing and turnover of food is high so you always get fresh sushi. I always order the rainbow roll wherever we go so I'll use that as a comparison. The tuna was very lean but fresh, salmon had nice marbling and fatty feel/flavor (which I really enjoy), whitefish... Well I never review that because it's just escarole (my least favorite part of a rainbow roll). Service was excellent. The menu is large so everyone is sure to find something they enjoy. Came here for the first time and we can 20 Mins before closing time. We ordered the monster roll and the crunchy roll! Both were delicious! Since they were specialty rolls it came with the clear onion soup which was okay. This place is surprisingly affordable as the monster roll was 10.20 and the crunch roll was 7.25!!!! We will be coming here again soon to try the hibachi. Staff was very nice and welcoming regardless of the time we came in and the sushi tasted very fresh! This is going to be my new place! read more
