    Omakase

The BEST sushi I've ever had! If you like real Japanese sushi (sashimi, nigiri, hand rolls) you must try. Wonderful staff, fresh fish, and an intimate setting. We have been coming to Sushi Wasabi for 10+ years

This place was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by such a great sushi place in this little tiny plaza. They say the hole in the wall spots are the best, and this place is very good! The salmon sushi was delicious! The way they prepare it with the kelp and sesame seeds just tastes so fresh and delicious. Ankimo was great! Dessert was very fresh and creamy. Uni was great! ikura was good, would have tasted better if it was marinated. Overall, everything on the Omakase menu was superb and delicious and amazing. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars was because the speed of which portions were coming out felt a little slow. This is especially considering that there wasn't many people dining here at the time, so I can only imagine what this place might be like when it's actually busy? Overall, this is a great spot for fresh and delicious sushi!

Great omakase experience in a quaint little restaurant. Definitely hometown feel when you enter. They do reservations only, no walk-in so make sure you can to make reservations. All the dishes were super fresh and food. Service was great! We tried the Japanese tiramisu and matcha pudding...both very good. Would definitely come back again with my family. Kids can order a la carte.

Great quality sushi that is homey and intimate. Sushi wasabi is a hole is a wall eatery in a small mall. There are only few seatings so reservation is a must. This place does omakase style (10 piece sushi, handroll, and sliced sashimi appetizer) for $80. We both got the omakase and my fiance got the miso soup on the side ($3). For drinks we got a bottle of cold and hot sake. The dishes placed out one at a time so it was a relaxing experience. The scallops and the blue handroll were my favorite! All the sashimi were buttery and decadent. My only complaint is that the course is a bit pricy for $80 considering the portion. Overall super pleased with the service, would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for omakase sushi.

This place is pretty good. This is located in a rundown strip mall with an autozone and 7eleven. We had a reservation at opening time (12 pm) on a Saturday. It was a little awkward since we were the only ones dining. From the opening time until we were finished with the omakase, not a single person came inside. This is definitely a hole in a wall place, but don't let that deceive you. The food was delicious. Overall, the food was great. The courses came a plate at a time, rather than your other omakase experience where you usually get one nigiri at a time. I loved the white fish course a lot but also their well known blue crab handroll. It was extremely smooth with a lot of crabby essence. I would usually like it with a more of a meaty bite instead of just a smooth paste texture, but nevertheless, it was extremely good. Service was great as well. The waitress came by quite often, but again.. .we were the only ones there lol The price can be a little steep. They only provide one option if you choose to dine in, which is the $80 omakase and you can choose to add on 3 more items for an additional cost. For an $80 omakase for 10 nigiris, a sashimi course, and a blue crab handroll without a dessert included is a little too much in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, everything was great, but not to the price point. I'm happy that there are quality sushi spots in the Tustin/Irvine area.

Been coming to sushi wasabi for almost 10 years now It's pretty rare to do a walk in, I think I came on a Saturday night and they turned me away but I was able to call the next day and get a reservation for that night They only do omakase which is about $70(?) and it's almost the same menu as when I was in high school so a bit predictable on what's coming out next lol. My all time favorite item is the blue crab hand roll! Seaweeds extra crispy, filled with tons of creamy crab, this is the only thing I'll reorder at the end if I feel like treating myself

We came across this place after walking by to pick up some breakfast burritos at Hole Mole and were intrigued of the small size from the outside. Sushi wasabi is a very lowkey sushi spot that serves phenomenal food. Menu includes a 10 piece omakase set with a few other chef specials to choose from and we had to try it all. All of it was excellent! The staff was kind and attentive, and there is one chef behind the bar preparing the sushi sets. Although I've had these pieces of fish plenty of times before, each piece that was served here brought on what I thought was a unique and well put together experience of sushi flavor. Lastly, the pace of which it was served was perfect. There looked to be about 20 seats divided between 5 tables so it is recommended to make a reservation. Of course sushi of this quality is on the pricier and is comparable to omakase spots around OC. So if you're willing to spend on good sushi try this place out. 11/10 recommend. My wife and I are happy to have found this place and definitely will be back!

We were lucky to get a Sunday Night Mother's Day special reservation. Usually they are closed on Sundays. The special was the Omakase with dessert included. First time here and we were blown away by the intimate setting and high quality service & food. Our Waitress Rie paid constant attention checking on ginger, water, drinks and food quality. Throughout dinner, most, if not all, needs were anticipated. We enjoyed the fish and combinations that were delicately prepared. Sake prices are reasonable. Please order the dessert. It is worth it.

Don't judge a book by its cover. We decided to try this place because my wife found it on Yelp and we were in the area. The establishment is located in a strip mall with a convenience store, auto zone, and another restaurant. Initially when we pulled up I was skeptical because of the location and the way the outside looked. There is nothing fancy about the decor but it's clean. Upon entering we were greeted by a nice lady - likely one of the owners who told us that it was Omakase only. If we were ok with that then we could sit. The chef went to work immediately. We were incredibly surprised wi the the quality of the fish and the flavorful preparation. After multiple rounds we left satisfied and pleasantly surprised. The prices are not cheap but I think the food was well worth the price. I recommend this spot - come with an open mind and an empty stomach.

Sushi Wasabi was such a pleasant surprise, this was my first time trying Omakase and I loved it and have gone back multiple times! Food: All the dishes were thoughtfully laid out and served! My favorites were the blue crab hand roll and final dish with an assortment of sushi! All the fish was fresh and flavorful! If you have a large appetite, I'd recommend adding on dishes of your favorites, everything is SO good. I personally added more blue crab hand rolls. Service: Service was great, all the staff and chefs are welcoming! I recommend calling for a reservation since the place is small! I've succeeded with walk ins during non-rush hours Parking: There's a parking lot in front that generally has spots open :)

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but you'd be surprised at how delicious the food taste. My friend ordered the dinner omakase for us. We left with happy tongues and bellies. I really really enjoyed the blue crab handroll. I'm practically salivating now just thinking about it. Go on, don't hesitate. Make that reservation. Your tastebuds and mind will be blown.

Unreal experience Customer service was top notch. Great price for an omakase. Most places are $100+ and we paid around $80 Highly recommend to anyone wanting an authentic omakase experience.

Deluxe nigiri with three additional handrolls Blue crab and Waygu beef

Solid straightforward sushi eats.... This review is overdue. I decided to try them during the take out only phase of this panini LOL. SO, I followed them on Instagram and watched our for their updates on what was on the menu and when to order. I wanted to ball out on myself so I ordered the nigiri deluxe and that comes with 11 pieces and a handroll. I also ordered three additional rolls. I love blue crab handrolls I definitely needed more than one with this meal. First visit was curbside and the hostess was sweet and delivered to my car with the quickness. I was so excited to get home and rip into this meal. I loved the way they presented the handrolls. It's wrapped up separately from the rice filled goodness. I like this because it kept it from getting soggy . The blue crab handrolls were tasty ,I'm addicted to blue crab so it would've been nice if they were filled a little more with crab. The favorite was the Waygu beef handroll , never had that before and the next time I ordered, I ordered 2 more of those :D Everything was so good. Super fresh and fulfilling . I don't recall all the fish I had but I have noooooo complaints with this meal. I came back the following month and it hit the straightforward sushi spot again. This isn't your maki roll type place. As I write this I'm getting hungry for that Waygu and blue crab handrolls. I need to pay a third visit !

We each ordered a Combo B bento box, and also shared a Final Fantasy specialty roll. We only waited like 10 minutes for our food. All of the food was standard of what you'd expect in Japanese cuisine. No complaints! The interior of Sushi Bear is clean, and the staff is very kind and hospitable. We ordered the following: Agedashi Tofu: This was honestly the highlight of the meal. I have been craving this appetizer, but not many places around here actually offer it. The last place I tried this was at Haku, and I was not impressed by it. However, the tofu here was really good! It was hot, crispy, and the sauce was perfectly sweet and salty. It comes with 4 larger sized pieces of tofu, which I thought was great, but could have been more for the price. Stir Fry Udon: This dish was advertised outside on one of their stand up signs by the front door. This is part of what brought us in, but upon receiving it, I was not too impressed. The sauce was extremely dark and it already looked salty. When I actually tasted it, I was not surprised that it tasted exactly how it looked. It was way too salty and saucey to the point, we were eating one bite then drinking water right after. It was a pretty simple dish with what looked like frozen carrots and peas and some cut up chicken. Lunch Bento Box Option 2: We opted in for the teriyaki salmon, gyoza, and salmon roll. It came with a side of salad and miso soup. The salmon was cut very thin and it did not have enough teriyaki sauce on it. It was on the dry side. The gyoza was nothing too special. Just felt frozen then dried with gyoza sauce. Miso soup and salad were also just decent. The best part of this meal probably had to be the salmon roll. I liked the big portions of salmon and the little rice on the outside. This was the perfect balance instead of just getting a mouthful of rice each bit like most other sushi places do. I think this place was decent, overall. The prices were definitely on the higher side for what you get. Nothing too much to rave about other than the agedashi tofu, so I will be by for that again, but not sure if I would necessarily get anything else. Service was attentive and great. Just know, not all their offerings are actually listed on the menu, so we did not even know how much the stir fry udon was until we got charged for it.

This place nickel and dimes customers for everything. We were charged $6 just to add cucumber to a roll, $4 to add gobo, and even an extra charge to add lemon. The biggest issue wasn't even the prices, it was that our waiter never mentioned any of these upcharges when we ordered. If you're going to charge premium prices for simple additions, customers deserve to be told beforehand. We've eaten at countless sushi restaurants over the years, and we've never been charged these kinds of fees for basic add-ons, especially without any warning. It felt deceptive and left a terrible impression. Restaurants don't lose customers over a few dollars. They lose them when customers feel misled. Transparent pricing builds trust. Hidden charges destroy it. We won't be coming back, and unfortunately, we can't recommend this restaurant to anyone looking for an honest dining experience.

Many flavors mixed all in one bowl was the perfect dish overall. The beef curry was absolutely delicious as well. Filled with curry flavoring on the beef, it was not super overwhelming and it was very fulfilling overall. Absolutely love the portions as well. Orange Roll & Sushi 139…read more Located just across from Oliboli Donuts with them sharing the same parking lot amongst other tenants I can see this parking lot getting pretty crowded. We arrived at 8pm on a Sat, luckily there was no wait which after eating the food I was surprised there was no wait, maybe because they close at 930 and I am sure there is a last call. This next part is coming from someone who has been to Japan and experienced restaurants out there. When we first got inside we were greeted by all staff, including the ones hidden behind the counter, the first thing that came to my mind was the feeling of being back in Japan just a little bit bigger. Very cozy and intimate it really put that feeling of "hey you can relax, we got you". Easily my mind being transported back here with some people sitting in the restaurant, glad they left not to long after we were sat down. They have a good amount of choices and as I always say sushi restaurants with pictures in their menu is always such a W, our eyes eat first. What we ordered, we first started with sake and went with Kikusui which is always really smooth specially chilled. What I loved about here, was they come with a big round plate and let you choose your sake vessel, as you can tell from my photos we choose the ones with the little fish in them, that was a first and really stood out. First that came were the sushi pairs: Seared Tuna With Garlic Chips: Lightly seared but just the right amount, same goes with the rice vessel, it wasn't too much or too little. Very good and fresh tuna, that sear gave the tuna a very nice texture, the comes the crunch from the garlic chips. Very nice flavor bomb! Albacore: Delicious and fresh, really made me excited for the rolls coming up. Peppered Albacore With Garlic Chips: I forgot I had this after trying just the albacore by itself so I got excited that I didn't have to wait for the rolls. And this did not disappoint, the peppered part of the dish had just the right of a double jab of Cajun and smoky, which paired perfectly with the albacore, then randomly ghost punch of garlic with those crispy garlic chips. If they had all you can eat, oh man there would be never a time I didn't have this in front of me. In my pictures there was a peppered salmon with fresh onions, my wifes sister ordered this so I didn't get to try but she said it was really good and fresh. Our sushi rolls came out and AIYAH what kind of reviewer forgets to take a photo of an item. Sitting sadly in the bokeh distance we did order a: Stinky Roll - Which was your regular sushi roll but topped with Albacore, fresh onion and garlic butter. As mentioned above, everything was delicious and fresh, I don't like onions so to me I was questioning where is the stank, I love garlic and dipping it into the garlic butter was different but good. It was overall a good roll but this would be last amongst what we ordered. O.C. Roll: Shrimp Tempura, spicy tuna avocado inside topped with fresh salmon and lemon slices. This can go two ways for people, in example I ate the two end pieces as they are and it was delicious, then when I went for a middle piece, if you eat the lemon slice, that part will explode and with a sharp sour or bitter taste that like I said some people love or some don't. I probably had a small piece of the lemon on the corner pieces, so for me I took the slices off and it was still a fantastic roll. Autumn Roll: My favorite amongst the rolls, Spicy Tuna, avo, cilantro and cucumber inside, topped with peppered salmon and albacore. Just an umami explosion, lil heat from the spicy tuna, then comes the smoky cajun, it was really good and I was seriously holding back the urge to just take the plate and not share with my wife and her sister. Lastly was my favorite dish: Spicy tuna on crispy rice: I always order this at sushi places and this can easily make or break a place for me. When it arrived I was very questioned, big piece of avo, a good mountain shaped amount of spicy tuna, the shape of it being round was throwing me off. Most places either cute them into a rectangle or even square, my first bite crunch was def there, but it was a sticky inside the crispy rice boat that took a little to separate to get the piece in the mouth. But WAIT A MINUTE, that sticky inside mixed well with the crispy exterior, the rice had flavor and honestly gave me almost like a crunchy mochi vibe. It was different but that's where it set them apart from others I have had. Everything on the vessel was delicious like others, but adding what they did to their crispy rice made me really enjoy and still even as I write this is contender to one of my favorite Spicy Tuna on Crispy Rice dishes. In conclusion, I find us coming here on a good rotation in the vast choices of sushi restaurant! (didnt know there was a text cap SORRY!!) Feast Well Fellow Yelpers! This location was recommended by my nephew so I knew it would be good…read more The parking lot can get crowded on weekend but we found a spot quickly. There is outside seating, but since it was sunny we sat inside. The interior is nicely decorated in Japanese style. Staff was very nice and did not interrupt too much but enough to keep us happy. Sushi and rolls all very good and menu is good size. My favorite are the Bentos. Will become a favorite spot.
