    Wild Salmon Sushi

This place was amazing! I was pleasantly surprised by such a great sushi place in this little tiny plaza. They say the hole in the wall spots are the best, and this place is very good! The salmon sushi was delicious! The way they prepare it with the kelp and sesame seeds just tastes so fresh and delicious. Ankimo was great! Dessert was very fresh and creamy. Uni was great! ikura was good, would have tasted better if it was marinated. Overall, everything on the Omakase menu was superb and delicious and amazing. The only reason I don't give this place 5 stars was because the speed of which portions were coming out felt a little slow. This is especially considering that there wasn't many people dining here at the time, so I can only imagine what this place might be like when it's actually busy? Overall, this is a great spot for fresh and delicious sushi!

Great omakase experience in a quaint little restaurant. Definitely hometown feel when you enter. They do reservations only, no walk-in so make sure you can to make reservations. All the dishes were super fresh and food. Service was great! We tried the Japanese tiramisu and matcha pudding...both very good. Would definitely come back again with my family. Kids can order a la carte.

Great quality sushi that is homey and intimate. Sushi wasabi is a hole is a wall eatery in a small mall. There are only few seatings so reservation is a must. This place does omakase style (10 piece sushi, handroll, and sliced sashimi appetizer) for $80. We both got the omakase and my fiance got the miso soup on the side ($3). For drinks we got a bottle of cold and hot sake. The dishes placed out one at a time so it was a relaxing experience. The scallops and the blue handroll were my favorite! All the sashimi were buttery and decadent. My only complaint is that the course is a bit pricy for $80 considering the portion. Overall super pleased with the service, would highly recommend to anyone who is looking for omakase sushi.

This place is pretty good. This is located in a rundown strip mall with an autozone and 7eleven. We had a reservation at opening time (12 pm) on a Saturday. It was a little awkward since we were the only ones dining. From the opening time until we were finished with the omakase, not a single person came inside. This is definitely a hole in a wall place, but don't let that deceive you. The food was delicious. Overall, the food was great. The courses came a plate at a time, rather than your other omakase experience where you usually get one nigiri at a time. I loved the white fish course a lot but also their well known blue crab handroll. It was extremely smooth with a lot of crabby essence. I would usually like it with a more of a meaty bite instead of just a smooth paste texture, but nevertheless, it was extremely good. Service was great as well. The waitress came by quite often, but again.. .we were the only ones there lol The price can be a little steep. They only provide one option if you choose to dine in, which is the $80 omakase and you can choose to add on 3 more items for an additional cost. For an $80 omakase for 10 nigiris, a sashimi course, and a blue crab handroll without a dessert included is a little too much in my opinion. Don't get me wrong, everything was great, but not to the price point. I'm happy that there are quality sushi spots in the Tustin/Irvine area.

Been coming to sushi wasabi for almost 10 years now It's pretty rare to do a walk in, I think I came on a Saturday night and they turned me away but I was able to call the next day and get a reservation for that night They only do omakase which is about $70(?) and it's almost the same menu as when I was in high school so a bit predictable on what's coming out next lol. My all time favorite item is the blue crab hand roll! Seaweeds extra crispy, filled with tons of creamy crab, this is the only thing I'll reorder at the end if I feel like treating myself

We were lucky to get a Sunday Night Mother's Day special reservation. Usually they are closed on Sundays. The special was the Omakase with dessert included. First time here and we were blown away by the intimate setting and high quality service & food. Our Waitress Rie paid constant attention checking on ginger, water, drinks and food quality. Throughout dinner, most, if not all, needs were anticipated. We enjoyed the fish and combinations that were delicately prepared. Sake prices are reasonable. Please order the dessert. It is worth it.

Don't judge a book by its cover. We decided to try this place because my wife found it on Yelp and we were in the area. The establishment is located in a strip mall with a convenience store, auto zone, and another restaurant. Initially when we pulled up I was skeptical because of the location and the way the outside looked. There is nothing fancy about the decor but it's clean. Upon entering we were greeted by a nice lady - likely one of the owners who told us that it was Omakase only. If we were ok with that then we could sit. The chef went to work immediately. We were incredibly surprised wi the the quality of the fish and the flavorful preparation. After multiple rounds we left satisfied and pleasantly surprised. The prices are not cheap but I think the food was well worth the price. I recommend this spot - come with an open mind and an empty stomach.

Sushi Wasabi was such a pleasant surprise, this was my first time trying Omakase and I loved it and have gone back multiple times! Food: All the dishes were thoughtfully laid out and served! My favorites were the blue crab hand roll and final dish with an assortment of sushi! All the fish was fresh and flavorful! If you have a large appetite, I'd recommend adding on dishes of your favorites, everything is SO good. I personally added more blue crab hand rolls. Service: Service was great, all the staff and chefs are welcoming! I recommend calling for a reservation since the place is small! I've succeeded with walk ins during non-rush hours Parking: There's a parking lot in front that generally has spots open :)

Unreal experience Customer service was top notch. Great price for an omakase. Most places are $100+ and we paid around $80 Highly recommend to anyone wanting an authentic omakase experience.

We came across this place after walking by to pick up some breakfast burritos at Hole Mole and were intrigued of the small size from the outside. Sushi wasabi is a very lowkey sushi spot that serves phenomenal food. Menu includes a 10 piece omakase set with a few other chef specials to choose from and we had to try it all. All of it was excellent! The staff was kind and attentive, and there is one chef behind the bar preparing the sushi sets. Although I've had these pieces of fish plenty of times before, each piece that was served here brought on what I thought was a unique and well put together experience of sushi flavor. Lastly, the pace of which it was served was perfect. There looked to be about 20 seats divided between 5 tables so it is recommended to make a reservation. Of course sushi of this quality is on the pricier and is comparable to omakase spots around OC. So if you're willing to spend on good sushi try this place out. 11/10 recommend. My wife and I are happy to have found this place and definitely will be back!

This place doesn't look like much from the outside but you'd be surprised at how delicious the food taste. My friend ordered the dinner omakase for us. We left with happy tongues and bellies. I really really enjoyed the blue crab handroll. I'm practically salivating now just thinking about it. Go on, don't hesitate. Make that reservation. Your tastebuds and mind will be blown.

Ambiance aside....better than NOBU. Best sushi I have had in Southern CA. Great service. "No Calofornia Rolls".....I love that! 100% worth the visit.

Deluxe nigiri with three additional handrolls Blue crab and Waygu beef

Solid straightforward sushi eats.... This review is overdue. I decided to try them during the take out only phase of this panini LOL. SO, I followed them on Instagram and watched our for their updates on what was on the menu and when to order. I wanted to ball out on myself so I ordered the nigiri deluxe and that comes with 11 pieces and a handroll. I also ordered three additional rolls. I love blue crab handrolls I definitely needed more than one with this meal. First visit was curbside and the hostess was sweet and delivered to my car with the quickness. I was so excited to get home and rip into this meal. I loved the way they presented the handrolls. It's wrapped up separately from the rice filled goodness. I like this because it kept it from getting soggy . The blue crab handrolls were tasty ,I'm addicted to blue crab so it would've been nice if they were filled a little more with crab. The favorite was the Waygu beef handroll , never had that before and the next time I ordered, I ordered 2 more of those :D Everything was so good. Super fresh and fulfilling . I don't recall all the fish I had but I have noooooo complaints with this meal. I came back the following month and it hit the straightforward sushi spot again. This isn't your maki roll type place. As I write this I'm getting hungry for that Waygu and blue crab handrolls. I need to pay a third visit !

Always best eaten right out of the fryer, piping hot. You just can't go wrong with their most popular app. For starters, we also got their blistered shishito peppers, which comes with bonito flakes dancing from the steam of the peppers. If you've never had shishito peppers before, they are very very mild in spiciness, but be warned you'll always have one extra spicy pepper when you least expect it! For our main, we got the spicy beef udon, which comes simmering in its metal bowl atop a fire, keeping it hot as you enjoy it slowly. The red broth has a nice kick of heat, but not so spicy that it will irritate your throat. The slices of beef are oh so tender and flavorful. The rich broth clings on perfectly to the thick udon noodles. If you're sharing, plan on getting extra udon noodles to soak up all that delicious broth! I had expected the business to be in a more high volume area, however a benefit of their corner spot was that the parking lot had plenty of spaces. There's no indoor seating, but outdoor tables were set up along the north and east perimeters of the building. I was by myself at this latest visit, and it was close to the end of the day so the inventory was quite depleted. There was no line at all which was not a surprise. The famous Strawberry Croissants and prepackaged items were on refrigerated display to the left when you walked in. As the service counter rounded a corner, there were more fresh baked goods on display before you reached a register. Across from the registers were shelves containing bags of fresh bread products. I bought a Strawberry Croissant, a Sticky Bun, a Ham and Cheese Croissant, and an Apple Croissant. The quality of the pastry dough was very good, and I could see why the Strawberry Croissant was a favorite with the customers. The croissants were light and flakey, and the powdered sugar added a delicate topping to the strawberry version. If I were to rate on just the Strawberry Croissant, then it would be five stars. My overall rating was downgraded because of the customer traffic flow. The lines can be optimized so that if you wanted to buy a six-pack of the Strawberry Croissants and/or anything prepackaged, then a separate queue should be arranged for those customers. The cafeteria trays were of limited use if you were not getting a large number of items. As you advanced in the queue, other products had to be requested from a worker behind the counter and then those were not placed on the tray. Ultimately, I think they can configure the operation to more efficiently handle the higher volume periods of the day.

Expectations may have been a bit high due to the popularity and good word about Hako, but I…read moreregularly am on the hunt for good Japanese katsu and curry, so have tried some pretty good katsu in my days. First off, it's a pretty great value. You get a set meal for a very good price these days, since the katsu meals come with their homemade katsu sauce (tastes like a slightly sweet and sour peanut satay), cabbage salad, rice, miso soup, and pickles. If you're looking for value only, this is great. Even the appetizers and sushi rolls are reasonable. I like that you can add on extra curry or some pieces of sushi or gyoza with your katsu or udon meal, and can add more than one. We saw a lot of takeout orders going out, though you don't get the soup. - Agedashi Tofu A light, popcorn crisp fry with sturdy cubes of tofu with enough dashi to cover them all. Respectable appetizer if you like tofu. All the pieces are very hot inside. - Hako Tonkatsu The pork cutlet is pounded so flat and enormous. I added a side of mild curry, which tasted like a good normal Japanese curry, and the additional gyoza were standard grocery filling (seemed to have more of a baked than fried texture on the skin). The nutty satay-like sauce went well with the katsu, but the curry was better. The rice was good and fluffy, and the pickles added an acidic balance. The miso soup was on the salty side. I liked how light and refreshing the cabbage salad was, though I prefer other dressings over this Thousand Island-like creamy one. The katsu itself was a bit disappointing, as it was devoid of moisture and the crisp could have been better. - Chicken Katsu The chicken was slightly better than the pork, as it retained a little more moisture and was just a bit more tender. However, all other aspects were the same. We tried the spicy curry for this plate, and it had the same taste as the regular curry, but with a bite. If you like pain more than taste when you eat spicy foods, I guess that'd be why you choose the spicy here. Considering it took nearly an hour for us to get a table on a random weekday night (seated close to 8pm), I definitely was expecting the food to taste much better. The tables are situated very close to each other, too, so you'll probably have a neighbor within your elbow space. It's not even a contender for a majority of katsu places in NorCal or Hawaii. But if you're in the area and have a craving and want a lot of food for the price, it's fine. If you have leftovers, they will give you an extra new side of their sauce, which is sweet.
