The theming at this location (inside the shopping mall in Palazzo) is really cool. Even at the bar, where we sat, is like you are sitting under a tree. items. (Good job on the upsell ) He put in the order for my rice right away and then we opted to get the vegetable tempura and hubby got a Japanese Old Fashioned. My rice was perfect (as expected) - warm and "coconutty". The vegetable tempura had a few unidentifiable items. Not a big deal - it was fun to guess what they were. It all tasted really good and had a nice crunch. Hubby enjoyed his old fashioned - they used a Japanese whiskey - but he was more fascinated with the round ice cube as it was completely clear with no bubbles or clouding. The bartender said they order their specialty drink ice straight from Japan as they have an expensive machine that vibrates the water continuously to remove the bubbles. I love Asian Fusion so it was a no brainer to visit Sushisamba during our stay at the Venetian. My fiancé had been previously and assured I would be in for a great meal. He was absolutely right! We ate here before going over to the Sphere which was extremely convenient. When we finished, we were able to walk right over through the indoor hotel walkway. I love how most of the options are tapas style so you can try a large variety of items during your meal. There was a great balance between sushi, sashimi, and cooked items. Some standouts for me were the salmon sashimi, Kobe beef gyoza, and sea bass skewers. The fish was SO FRESH and so flavorful. I could have eaten 5 servings of the sashimi alone. The sushi rolls were also unique and very filling. We ended up indulging in a chocolate banana cake for dessert. A perfect end to a fantastic meal. Came here with my besties for a dinner before the Backstreet Boys concert and as always, it was an absolute hit! The restaurant itself is large, dimly lit, and decorated beautifully. The server had lots of great recommendations for drinks and the service was efficient so we could get to our concert on time! Our faves are always the yellowtail taquitos (always a must), the tiger roll, and the wagyu gyoza. If I could only order one thing, it would always be the yellowtail. It's such flavorful, decadent dish with contrasting textures that are just chefs kiss! Our waiter was very friendly and the music played was really good. The menu choices were plentuful with cool Asian/Latin fusion options. We ordered the sea bass miso which was really good but I didn't care for the peruvian corn though my husband liked it. We ordered the El Topo roll, which I was a little leery about because it had melted mozzarella which didn't seem to go with a salmon roll with jalapeño and crisp onions, but it was pretty amazing. My husband had the vegetable tempura and said it a really good. He loved the dipping sauces that accompanied it. He also had the shishito pepper caipirinha. After seeing Kenny Chesney at the Sphere (EXCELLENT!), we decided to hang at the Venetian, grab a snack and avoid the traffic. Sushisamba is a beautiful and inviting space so we decided to take advantage of their late hours and enjoy drinks and a snack. As soon as we sat down, Samantha & Susie greeted us, offered us water and the Happy Hour menus. The HH menus had a surprising number of offerings and but the soft shelled crab sliders caught our eye. We placed our orders along with an old fashioned and another cocktail. Samantha & Susie kept our waters filled and checked on us frequently. The sliders arrived and they were awesome. When Samantha came back by, we were quick to place another order of them - so good! Since it was a Saturday night, Sushisamba was open until 0100 and we could see others starting to come in from the onsite clubs. Susie & Samantha were keeping up with the orders and maintaining a very classy style - we enjoyed watching them. The had us laughing several times. We would highly recommend Sushisamba for an after show snack or drinks - we're sure you'll enjoy it. And hopefully Susie & Samantha will be working - they added a lot to our visit. Food is good but very pricey. We tried happy hour the other night yet still paid nearly $150 and that didn't make me happy. Happy hour portions are significantly smaller for most dishes so you aren't really getting a deal. You pay less for far less food. Clever marketing but not a deal. Most of the booth tables are for large groups with some bar seating and a few smaller tables. The moqueca mista was fantastic! Great sauce and who doesn't love the crispy rice at the bottom. The Brazilian cheese bread was great as well. So nice, warm and fluffy! The tapioca powder really makes a difference in the texture of the bread. One order was quite filling for a group of two. * Happy Hour review * Dinner on The Strip can get pricey, so we were thrilled to find a happy hour here. Surprisingly, we got seated immediately when we entered at 5:30P as there happened to be an open table in the bar area. If coming through the main entrance of The Venetian, you need to walk all the way through the shops to the back towards the Wynn. It took a while for us to find this restaurant, and we had to ask a couple people to guide us, but the trek was totally worth it. With 30 minutes left of happy hour to spare, we ordered quickly and thanks to their two kitchens, the food started coming shortly after. + SAKE STEAMED CLAMS ($11 HH): They sure give you lots of clams for the price! Even though they were cooked in garlic butter and sake, those flavors were subtle and didn't overpower the natural taste of the clams. + SALT & PEPPER SQUID ($12 HH): So good! Meaty pieces of squid were coated in a light batter and perfectly fried. Salt and shichimi togarashi were sprinkled on top with a side of soy dipping sauce on the side. I could have eaten the entire plate of these; they were right out of the fryer and so addicting. + JAPANESE A5 KOBE BEEF GYOZA ($15 HH): Each order of these only comes with three gyozas, so this was quite pricey for what you get. The filling was moist and rich although I don't think I would have guessed it was Kobe beef if I hadn't read the menu. I appreciated the thin wrapper and the smooth kabocha squash purée under each one was a unique touch. These were tasty, but just not worth the value. + AMAZONIA ROLL ($10 HH): It's rare that I'll order a veggie sushi roll, but this one caught my eye. Instead of nori, collard greens were wrapped around the rice, pickled daikon, portobello mushroom, cucumber and avocado. Between the savory earthy mushroom, tartness of the daikon and refreshing cucumber, this roll had a range of flavors and textures that melded wonderfully. I highly recommend this as a light and healthy option. We also got a spicy tuna roll ($12 HH) and salmon avocado roll ($11 HH), both of which were fresh and tasted as expected. For the spicy tuna roll, I would have preferred that they mix in the spicy sauce rather than putting a large dollop on each piece. The staff was friendly, attentive and kept our waters full. One of the most surprising things was finding an attendant in the restroom who kindly handed out towels as each person washed their hands. I wouldn't consider this to be a formal restaurant, so this was totally unexpected. SushiSamba provided a solid happy hour with many delicious options. So hearty, decadent, and good. It's kind of big for two people to share but we love it so much that we order it anyway and eat the whole thing because it would be a shame to waste it. We cooked our own wagyu beef in a hot plate and first dip it in several types of oil, then choose from three sauces and i mixed them too. So delicious. Sushi Samba is a Brazilian, Peruvian, and Japanese fusion restaurant that has a wide range of dishes from skewers, appetizers, sushi and more. The sashimi platter they had was fresh, and it paired well with the sake they had. I liked their Seabass skewers and salt and pepper squid, but those items and the garlic clams came almost cold, like it was sitting there for a while when they were all supposed to be hot dishes. A bit disappointing given it was on the pricey side too. If the food came out hot then I probably would've enjoyed the meal a little more, but overall pretty mid. They're located on the second floor of the Palazzo, where all the shops and other restaurants are. The music here was pretty loud and it does give a more club vibe than anything, so if you're looking for a quiet place to eat or converse with friends then I would advise to go elsewhere. Another amazing experience at Sushisamba! Didn't have a reservation and there was an hour wait but able to grab seats at the bar right away. Started with the taquitos (the Kobe beef and the fish one) and they might be one of the greatest things I've ever eaten anywhere. They're not cheap $19 for the Kobe one, $12 for the fish, but I could probably eat a dozen and not get sick of them, absolutely amazing and worth the trip if that's all you get! Also got a couple of rolls, the el topo roll and tiger maki; shared with a few others and all agreed the el topo was the best. Currently the only one in the US ( waitress told us they closed the ones in Miami and Chicago) so when in Vegas, you have a chance to try this fusion restaurant of Latin-Japanese delicacies. As someone who eats sushi regularly in authentic Japanese restaurants (plenty of them near where I live), I'd say this place is at par. They do make things interesting by adding some of the Latin flavors and sauces. We tried a few of their special rolls - all good. The tempura was nicely done. My favorite was the Hamachi Kama - baked yellowtail collar ! Good portion size and full of flavors! The salmon ceviche was nicely presented on a tray of ice and interesting. Beautiful and vibrant interior with the kind of flare you'd expect from a Vegas restaurant. I feel it's tastefully done and on point with their cuisine.
