Oh my gosh! We were here for the first time this week. The gorgeous rooftop atmosphere was energetic and relaxed all at the same time. Our wait staff was attentive, and the food was exquisite! My faves were the Kari Kari, Sea Bass Anticuchos, Bone-in Ribeye, and the Salmon Avocado Roll. So delicious! Oh and the desserts were fabulous, too. I can't say enough good things about it here. I really hate writing bad reviews, but feel this is definitely warranted. This was our second visit, and after our first experience we had actually recommended this restaurant to many friends. The food was absolutely amazing and the ambiance is exceptional--but unfortunately the service completely fell apart and really overshadowed the evening. Drinks took an unusually long time to arrive. We were initially helped by someone who took our drink orders, then our table was passed off to another server who was nowhere to be found. After waiting quite a while, my wife even got up to ask a nearby waiter if he was ours, and his response was, "Do I look like a woman?"--not the answer anyone would expect in a professional setting. Shortly after that, our actual waiter finally appeared. From there, things continued to decline. When it was time for the check, our waiter was again missing, and the hostess came over telling us our 2.5-hour time limit was up and we needed to leave. That would have been understandable if we actually had the check and were preparing to go--but it hadn't even been dropped yet. About 10 minutes later, the check finally arrived and things got even more chaotic. We are three couples splitting the bill with three cards, and the waiter incorrectly processed only two. Instead of simply voiding and correcting the mistake, he said he "couldn't do that" and brought in a manager. The manager then told us the system couldn't be fixed and we would need to pay the remaining balance with two cards, which didn't make sense. When we asked which cards had already been charged so we could settle up properly, she said she didn't know. In the end, we had to sort everything out ourselves. Again, the food was outstanding, but the service experience was disorganized and frustrating from start to finish. I really hate writing bad reviews, but feel this is definitely warranted. This place was awesome! Went with a group for brunch and we all ordered the 3-course brunch, which is a set menu of appetizers and sushi for the table and then an entree of your choice. Everything was delicious, I didn't have a single bad bite. My entree was the shrimp burger, which had so much flavor, and came with these perfectly crispy little fries that kind of felt more like eating chips (in a good way). This was the first time my fiancée and I visited and all I have to say is that we will definitely be back. The menu has so many rich flavors and choices and we were beyond thankful to have Marco as our server. His recommendations were all so amazing, from the main dish with the three meats and dipping sauces, to the appetizer and dessert. But the star of the show was the yellowtail taquitos. Small, but packed with so much flavor, we will definitely make more than one order next time we visit. The hostess and eveyrone even prior to getting to our table was so friendly and made us feel very welcomed. We visited Sushi Samba for my girlfriend's birthday dinner. We were seated right away with our reservations on a busy Saturday night. The restaurant itself is really cute, upscale and lively. The food + drinks were also really tasty. Unfortunately they sold out of lamb chops this night, but our table opted for the pao de queijo, rock shrimp tempura, moqueca mista, churrasco rio grande plate, asevichado roll, bossa nova roll All were really good and would order again aside from the moqueca mista... wasn't really a fan of the flavor. Service was mediocre in the beginning during rush hour, but towards the end of the night, our server was more attentive. I wanted to love this place, but unfortunately my experience was overshadowed by extremely disappointing customer service. The restaurant itself is beautiful. The atmosphere is lively, the live music was wonderful, and we were excited to celebrate my mother's birthday here. I brought my mom a gift bag containing chocolates and an envelope containing a birthday card with $200 cash. While we were waiting for our table in the lounge, my mother accidentally left the gift bag on the couch while greeting family members. Later that evening, she realized it was missing. We immediately called the restaurant and were told they had found the bag. When I drove back to pick it up, I was given the gift bag with the chocolates--but the envelope with the birthday card and the cash was gone. The floor manager told me they would investigate and follow up. The next day, I received two calls from an unfamiliar personal cell phone number with no voicemail. When I returned the call, a woman said she was calling from sushi samba. She explained that they had reviewed the security footage and that the bag had remained on the couch untouched before eventually being taken to lost and found. According to her, neither staff nor guests had removed anything from the bag, and there was nothing further they could do. What disappointed me most wasn't just that the money and card were missing--it was how the situation was handled. The conversation felt cold, dismissive, and completely lacking in empathy. There was no acknowledgment of how upsetting it was to lose something that wasn't just cash, but also a birthday card with a personal message for my mother. If the footage truly showed that no one touched the bag before it reached lost and found, then it naturally raises the question: how did the envelope and card disappear? I wasn't expecting miracles, but I did expect genuine concern, professionalism, and a willingness to help a guest understand what happened. I've accidentally left belongings at restaurants before, including my purse, and everything was returned exactly as I left it. That's why this experience was so disappointing. Went for dinner last Saturday with friends and had an amazing time! The ambiance was wonderful (we caught a beautiful sunset, and the music/vibe was great on top of that). SushiSamba has great food. While it's a bit overpriced, the quality of the food and the ambiance usually make up for it. Unfortunately, the service I received last night was beyond disappointing and completely subpar. Our waiter was rude, dismissive, and treated our table as though we were a burden simply for asking him to do his job. Multiple times he walked away in the middle of conversations while we were ordering, rushed us to make decisions, and even made comments such as, "I have better things to do," which was completely unprofessional. Instead of allowing us to relax and enjoy our meal, we felt rushed from start to finish. Also, multiple items were missing from our order and when it was brought to his attention, he never did anything about it. I also asked to speak with a manager three separate times because I wanted to request a different waiter. Despite those requests, no manager ever came to our table. It was incredibly frustrating to have our concerns ignored while the poor service continued. To make matters worse, an automatic 20% gratuity was added despite our party consisting of only six people. According to SushiSamba's website, automatic gratuity applies only to parties of eight or more. Seeing that charge added anyway was disappointing and left an even worse impression. I expected much better from a restaurant of this caliber. Great food and atmosphere can only go so far when the service falls this far below expectations. New sushi restaurant on a rooftop in WeHo. Security downstairs was cool and very friendly, which helped set the vibe. Upstairs the bar was packed. Their signature drinks were good, but the espresso martini was a nice pickup. The cheese buns were tasty, but the honey truffle butter was phenomenal - it would make anything better. The tender salt and pepper squid was excellent, with a smokey flavor. The spiny tuna on crispy rice was a good standard. Also, the Kobe gyoza were good, but too easy to eat, so chew slowly to enjoy. The seviche tower was a very nice mix of flavors. The salmon ceviche was a bit overly sweet, but still very good. There were also crab claws, a couple spicier ceviches, and a white fish ceviche with big corn kernels similar to hominy. The truffle mushroom rice was excellent; rich and not too earthy, and very smooth flavor. The seafood rice was richer and thicker from the coconut milk, and very good with a Thai fusion feel. All the seafood was fresh, perfectly cooked, and not chewy at all. We only ordered one desert, the chocolate cake, which was mellow, not too sweet, and served as a vessel to drink the maple butter and melting ice cream. All of the staff were friendly and knowledgeable, so service was efficient, smooth. The only problem was the chairs wobble a bit. Warning: TLDR. SushiSamba! We wanna love you!!! Your confusing LA menu ruined our anniversary!!! The Vegas location is tits! It's a MUST on every trip. Their Samba hour slaps hard! Methinks we've been going there for DECADES! Okay, so, we are super foodies having dined at some of the world's best restaurants and nearly every 3* Michelin restaurant in the US, no bragging here simply explaining why this menu is so confusing. They have many different tasting menus available. We wanted to try two of them. Our first server, who seemed rather grumpy told us that would not be possible and that we needed to both order the same one. He was a bit rude, so we decided to leave -- not anniversary dinner vibes. It was a rash decision and on our way out the lovely hostess asked us how it was, we explained and she and the doorman both agreed that the menu sitch made no sense. If a restaurant is going to stipulate that the entire table needs to order from the same tasting menu then it should be stated on the menu, which it is not. Cut to, speaking to the friendly manager, Dani who says she spoke to chef and they are going to make a one time exception. So, we go back in...new server is not alerted to our situation with the tasting menus, so we dive into our spiel about being pescatarian, we are foodies, we want to share so we can both try more of the menu and avoid meat. He THEN explains (and not without some 'tude now) that the tasting menu separated by lines from course to course, is not a choose one from each section but that you get EVERYTHING listed. Wait! What? (Go back to the beginning where we referenced our pro dining experience and then read This) "On a traditional tasting menu, a line between items--or a, b, c options--usually means you are expected to choose one course in that section, rather than receiving everything listed." ~AI. We've been to lots of great restaurants where all the items you will receive are NOT separated by lines or if they are then they are listed under headers. There are some key take-aways from this: 1. We were willing to pay the price of the tasting menus for 1/3 of the food if it meant we could mix and match. 2. After all the drama, there was no way we were going to ask for pescatarian accommodations since we don't eat meat. 3. Why isn't there a pescatarian option at a sushi restaurant? 4. JUST EXPLAIN the rules in your menu to alleviate all the guesswork! Foodies! Beware! You've been warned. Also, drinks are double the size at the bar than at the table. What!?! See pics below. When i explained the menu confusion to the second server, he said "I didn't create the menu". Not a great response, as i really didn't think the server designed the menu, but who knows!?! The first server then came over to play nice. The second server disappeared never to be seen again. Yikes! No goodbye!?! We were unfortunately THAT table. Service was SLOW. The bus boys, the bartender and all the women were so friendly. The food is solid. LOVED the miso cod. Hubby did not like the $48 sushi roll. Skip that one--definitely not worth it. The other rolls were good. The mushroom entree could've had a bit more flavor. I would have done a complimentary dessert or round of drinks after all the heartache. Really disappointing experience. We were told by the hostess that we could have bites and drinks at the bar since we didn't have a reservation. When we got to the bar, we were told it was drinks only. The lack of communication between staff was frustrating, and honestly the attitude from both the hostess and bartender were extremely unwelcoming. What makes it even more disappointing is that the place has a lot of potential. The views are beautiful and the space itself is nice but the people completely ruined the experience for us. I understand everyone has off days and we're all human but this is a place that charges premium prices and expects premium tips. Ordered the cheese bread , gyoza, vegetable, tempura , crispy tuna , filet skewer, yellowtail with lemon grass sashimi, and another roll with the "leche de Tigre" . We really did love everything. Oh yeah, and we had the burnt cheesecake for dessert. Hard to pick a favorite dish of all the things we tried but I would have to say the gyoza are a Must. The honey truffle butter that came with the pao - I usually don't like truffles or truffle flavor, added to anything. Somehow, with the honey and butter it works. We went right at sunset, and the ambiance alone is worth it -- vibrant, energetic, and just a really beautiful setting. The food absolutely delivered. The lamb chops were cooked perfectly and full of flavor, and the seabass robata was just as impressive -- light, balanced, and done right. What really elevated the night, though, was the service. There are no heaters but they offer blankets , although they didn't have enough blankets to accommodate all guests and I wasn't able to get one . Service was on the slow side as they are really busy , especially on a Saturday night . We got some appetizers before our drinks. You're able to make reservations 2 weeks in advance at 9 and the reservations fill up quickly so mark your calendar exactly 2 weeks before you plan to go and reserve right at 9 am. Food was Okay. Nothing that truly wowed me except for the green bean tempura with black truffle sauce . That was a must have appetizer . The cheese bread is gluten free and comes with honey truffle butter and that was also good as an appetizer. The samba salad was kind of bland and the rib eye robata was very chunky and chewy. I didn't like the tangy sauce and corn it came with . One order comes in 2 pieces and it is a lot as it is very thick cut and chewy. I also wish they would make modifications . I wanted to get the El Topo with tuna or avocado instead of salmon and they wouldn't do that. The Las Vegas location does this substitution for me each time but not this location .
