I came here on a weekday with friends. The atmosphere in the restaurant is very Japanese but the service was a bit slow. However, the sushi was delicious and the sashimi combo was also very good. The only thing is that I broke out in hives and I actually am NOT allergic to seafood. weird. The menu selection is very diverse. You can get anything from sashimi and sushi rolls all the way to noodle dishes. It's nice if you have a someone in your group of friends who is a picky eater! The prices were reasonable (a little under $20 with tax) and location is easy to find. I would come back here, but I believe there are better sushi bars in the area. One of my favorite sushi places in the heart of Vienna, VA. If you go and try looking for this place you might be a tad surprised - looks like a whole in the wall BUT as soon as you walk in - the ambiance is pretty nice. The food and management and staff are prompt. Everything taste as fresh as it can be. This is by far one of my favorite sushi places in the Tyson's area. It's not over price and not super pack everyday other than Friday-Sunday like many restaurants are. Their food is flavorful and they give you just the right amount. This place is all that and some. We have been going to sushi yoshi also in Vienna but not anymore. This place has faster better service. They have a way better variety and mix of sushi rolls. This place same as sushi yoshi are fresh but this place has these really good baby octopus that sushi yoshi no longer serves. So I seem to have a neverending craving for sushi and this is the best place to go for a fix. Their appetizers are good, they have a large selection of sushi on their menu, and it's always fresh and delicious when they serve it. The sushi looks really good as well in case you're someone who likes to photograph their food before you eat it, but I can't speak for that myself since it's all gone before I would even think of that. Usually such an extensive menu is a bad sign, meaning that they don't specialize in any type of food. Nevertheless, pretty much everything I've ordered at Sweet Ginger turned out to be rather good. I love the chicken and vegetable tempura dish in particular. The only negative thing I can think of is the ginger in the salad dressing, which is so so. Also the General Tso's chicken (I know, how adventuress of me) is not spicy at all, so make sure to ask for the spice rack. The service has been great every single visit. read more

They have a little bit of everything: sushi, Thai, and Chinese dishes. We ordered a spider roll as our appetizer, which was delicious. I came here with a group of 7 during lunch time and left as a happy customer. We had a reservation since the location is not very big and were seated right away upon arrival. The service was good throughout the entire meal. We had an issue with one of the orders (one of us had ordered the shrimp tempura, but only received the veggie tempura), but the waitress took care of it right away without making a fuss. Most of us took advantage of of their lunch specials (salad + soup + 2 rolls) for $10 and everybody seemed happy with what they got. I ordered the Spicy Tuna roll and the Alaskan roll. Everything about the food was great. The salad was fresh, the dressing tasty. The miso soup had just the right temperature and was not too salty. The rolls were great and had just the right ratio of rice to fish. One of my friends had a sashimi plate, the other the chicken teriyaki. Both enjoyed their food very much. All in all a great lunch. Sweet Ginger is pretty good, its an occasional staple for me and the other half with generally reliable beef teriyaki and sushi. It wins out over most places simply because the man doesn't eat sushi and likes their beef teriyaki. So obviously the beef teriyaki is good, it can be ordered however you prefer you meat cooked. I've also often heard him making happy noises over what I believe in mashed potatoes. So i'll assume its also good. The sushi here is alright, its obviously not the best I've had but its also not bad and I'll willingly eat it again. Spider Rolls - (Deep fried soft shell crab) Good and a nice portion, I have a soft spot for these, but I think think maybe its the type of crab they get, but it has this weird gritty taste. I'll still eat it, but for some it can be off putting. Philly Roll - I've tried these twice, I normally LOVE these, but there is just something I don't like in their smoked salmon. It has this weird bitter edge that is just I dunno chemical tasting. I think next time I may try to get this with regular salmon rather then the smoked. Avocado Rolls - Always delicious Tuna Rolls - Also delicious, very good tuna, doesn't taste off, its actually quite good. The prices are decent, if slightly high depending on what you order, I'm not big on many specialty rolls myself so it keeps the cost down. If you're in the Vienna area and want sushi and don't want to travel this is definitely a place to try. I haven't had much else on their menu unfortunately but they do have a very large menu featuring various traditional Asian restaurant fare along with some fusion meals. The decor of the restaurant itself is nice, tasteful and a bit upbeat even if the restaurant is a bit on the small side. I must start of saying that this place is like a hidden gem. A friend of mine took me here and I am so glad he did. The sushi is fresh, the service is great, and the place is really cute inside for being in a strip mall. We only ordered sushi and saki. That should be at least one of the rolls to try. In any case, my dad actually got a bento box. For what (little) they gave and the price, you are better off to stick with rolls. I first ate there in 2008, when my college classmate worked as waiter and I had to pick him up once after work. It was great. The quality was seriously good, and so was the atmosphere. I've been there three times and have always had a good lunch. It's usually pretty crowded when I go, so that's a good sign :) I've had their Asian Bouillabaisse a couple of times. It's chock full of seafood in a tangy, lemongrass-laced broth. The soup with one of their specialty rolls is a very satisfying lunch. Today I had the Crazy Roll, which has asparagus, cream cheese, a little jalapeño thrown in for kick, a spicy sauce over the roll and salmon roe (?) on top. Quite tasty! My friends had the Pad Thai, grilled lemongrass chicken breast over vermacelli , and a Red Dragon roll--they all enjoyed their lunch as well. I'll be going back. I work in Tysons, so it's doubtful I'd ever do anything but go there for lunch, so I really can't say what it would be like for dinner. It's a small place, located in a not so appealing strip mall, but hey, the best food spots tend to be in the least likely of places, right? Every time I go, I always order the Pacific Roll ($10).
