Szechuan is always a good choice! Some of the best Chinese food in Mendocino County. Their sushi is also very good. I like that I can get both Chinese food and sushi in the same place. We typically get chow mein, fried rice, sweet and sour, and probably a few other dishes as well as a few sushi rolls. Big servings of all the traditional dishes looked good and seemed to be enjoyed. Hard to order for just one person, so I went for sashimi and sushi instead. The mixed plate portion size was small, so I ordered unagi and some scallops. These were small and a little spendy. The second thing is the environment... the decor is cozy and fun and kitschy and there are singers at night who make the experience romantic and memorable. The service was excellent. Was pleasantly surprised to find a good Chinese food restaurant in a small town. Had the garlic eggplant lunch--a favorite dish of mine and thought it flavorful. I didn't care for the soup of the day that was included but I seldom find hot and sour soup that doesn't taste like vinegar. Lunch entree came with rice. The grandkids ordered bowl of wonton soup and family style bean curd. Lots of fresh veggies in both dishes. We ended up sharing all the dishes-- my generous lunch portion and their family style dishes--No leftovers so I guess that says something. read more

We very much enjoyed our surprise stop in Willits on account of how incredibly delicious our meal here was! My husband proclaimed it to be the best Chinese food he has had in California, and he had much trepidation about even trying Chinese in the middle of what he called "nowhere" (sorry Willits peeps but you know ya are a bit remote up there off of the 5). Regardless of WHERE is was, it was REALLY GOOD. He had sesame beef and the sounds coming from across the table as he ate it were - um - lots of heavy sighs and little moans. For my part, I had shrimp with string beans and they were outstanding. They were very considerate about no gluten for me, and the taste was divine, luscious shrimp and crispy but not fried beans. super flavorful as well. Our daughter had the orange chicken and she loved it, it smelled delicious. We also ordered the gyoza and they were crispy and yummy. A star loss for having playboy and naked women decal pictures in the bathroom waiting area, that's just totally unnecessary and rather creepy. Food was great, although we're not used to paying separately for tea or rice. We ordered hot and sour soup, moo shu chicken, and Kung Pao pork.
