I will preface this by saying that I have only gone here once and it was late-night hence why I gave it two stars instead of one. This place is very reminiscent of a taco bell except if Taco Bell decided to allowed their entire preparation process to be viewed by their waiting customers! The ingredients used are all strewn everywhere as if a massive food fight of cheese and salad had commenced minutes before your arrival. That had me chuckling as I waited patiently for my Super burrito and Taco. Oh, and they think it's cool to go au naturel in preparing your food with their hands while manning the register and every other kitchen duty assigned to them. Skeevy! Overall, taste was very much on par with Taco Bell or below so personally I won't be heading back, especially considering the reputation California boasts for it's Mexican food; plenty of other options out there! read more

Know what you are getting into before you visit this place out of the blue. I feel sorry for a random guy who just got into town and ends up at Bravo. Poor soul! I love this place but don't confuse this with a high end Mexican bon-appetite meal. The beans, red/green sauce is guaranteed to bring you to your knees the next day, but in retrospect it was soo dam worth it when you were destroying all the great food from the night before. Probably the best drunk food on the face of the earth. Its decent if you go there sober too, but you have to know what to expect. Stick with the Super Nachos, Burritos, or tacos. They have some "indoor" seating that belongs to their roof where you order, and plenty of outdoor seating on nice days. Lots of side and back parking. In my experience, Taco Bravos are usually run down, dirty, and employed by ex con types, but if you can make it past this the taste of their ground beef, cheese, and beans is through the roof! This past week I was pretty pumped when I had a chance book a trip to Campbell, Ca..... after growing up in the area and coming here on so many late nights. I remember so many good memories of Taco Bravo and spending the waking hours of a Sunday morning grinding down some nachos or tacos. At the time I thought this place was the ultimate culinary delight. So the other night I decided after a long day of work emails and travel I walked across the street to roll back in time. After almost getting hit on Bascom ave I made it! As I gazed into the cleanliness into the Taco Bravo one would wonder would I survive this experience, but my curiosity was peaked and I needed to know what that 1980's taco tasted like ? So I bellied up and ordered my 3 tacos and hot sauce and headed back to my room.....I did leave out the employee who I pretty much had to argue with to give me a few extra hot sauces but I don't want to ruin the moment! The climax to this moment is that I have had these same tacos before they have been made in my kitchen at home but sorry Taco Bravo I have added seasoning and other items. Taco Bravo is cheap, cheap, CHEAP. You can get a huge burrito for like $2.50 - although the food is as far away as you can get from authentic mexican food. Or even Taco bell fast food for that matter, Taco Bravo is its own Enigma. I've been eating a Taco Bravo now for 24 years. Yes, 24 years. And even though the guy handling my gross money is the same guy fingering shredded orange cheese into my Super Burrito, I am still alive and kicking. In high school I went when I was buzzed or when I had a 49 cent tostada coupon. Now I go because it reminds me of being younger and I also get way, way more food here than any other place. I appreciate a place with a secret menu, ala In N Out. Some day when you're hungry, order an STD. The Super Tacos are huge and drippy. The Super Burritos are heavy enough to rip through the bag. It's salty and the place doesn't exactly scream romance, but they're almost always open, there is usually a line (a good sign), the portions are huge, and if you're lucky, you'll time it when the Pink Poodle dancers are getting their one meal for the day. I have a fear that any day now, the health department will shut them down. But I'm living proof that you can visit the same dumpy restaurant for more than two decades and still enjoy it today. read more

I thought this place was one of the greatest place to eat after a night of some alcoholic beverages. The tacos/burritos all have the same meat which is actually not bad when inebriated. After eating here after one of these nights my friend said he had bowel problems and was a "wuss". I made fun of him non-stop. Then I went there when I was sober, got the super burrito and one of each taco(3 total). I sat down with a diet coke (don't you hate it when fat people order a lot of food and then get diet?) and chowed down(I even got a refill on the diet coke for free!). Good food, huge portions and great prices. This is fast food, low budget dining at its best. I got the Taco Delight and a Taco. My partner got a super Nachos and a Taco. I was only able to eat 1/4 of my Taco Delight and my partner ate all his Nachos (How? I don't know). They pile the ingredients on. The staff is really friendly. I love these guys. Anytime you've been drinking in the downtown Campbell area and you need quick a meal, I highly advise Taco Bravo. I went to Denny's first, and was ignored on three separate occasions. So I happily got up and walk out the door. I have loved this food for years. For some reason, not sure if it is new ownership, or just completely new staff, but they have gone SOUTH! They have stopped giving you their hot sauce. You have to get it yourself out of coffee containers on the main patio. Maybe this explains why the last two times I went I have had food poisoning. (maybe not cleaning the container?) I tried it for that second time just to see if it really was the sauce or the burrito or soft tacos... Other than that, they have stopped making everything as they used to. I went to Taco Bravo for first time in San Jose and I thought the staff were all very friendly and worked very hard. I loved their soft shell tacos, they were filling and packed with beef, cheese and lettuce. They reminded me of Taco Johns tacos but way better. But Toqer, the KJ at the 7 Bamboo - who seems to be one of those with a Taco Bravo fetish - somehow got me down there in the wee hours of a Saturday morning after a full Friday evening of full-throated, heart-felt kara*ke reveling. "What the hell am I doing here?" I remember thinking.. but I have to admit, after settling down round an uncleared concrete table, and munching on the *one* beef taco I ordered, engaging in a bit of club gossip, and exchanging a few good-natured pleasantries with other parties (who really didn't look that scary) that drifted in.. If you give this place a bad review, you deserved the ass kickings you received in high school. It doesn't pretend to be a wholesome environment, it doesn't have a mission bell as its trademark implying its Mexican decent. It's a local place to get some diluted refried beans, cheese, tomatoes, and donkey meat thrown into a tortilla (taco shell or corn bowl) and wrapped in some yellow paper for your delight. If you don't like taco bravo, then you haven't had enough to drink, thus, proving that you failed in partying that night. in broad daylight, I recommend the nachos (start from the center and work your way out). to sum this up: Taco Bravo is best when drunk, when reminiscing being drunk, when your money is a little short, and when you need a cleansing without the tube. BRAVO DAY! Like 14 years ago, we had Bravo Days at work. Me and a couple co-workers would come here and punish our colons with this food when we felt like slacking off for the rest of the day. Since then, I've visited Bravo when I was especially, and unreasonably, angry with my excretory system after a late night drinking. The morning after was usually awful for whomever lived with me at the time. Bravo is one of those places that, no matter the cost/side-effects/quality, I keep going back to.
