I was SOOOO excited to come eat at Taco Mac after leaving the lake today before going home. Missed eating out with this whole pandemic quarantine the past couple months. I haven't had this food in a long time and when we got there, our waitress Doneisha was NOT attentive. She took forever to even just bring us a water let alone anything else. The food came out quick and we were happy with that, but our waitress just did not care about her customers. We repeatedly asked for condiments and drinks, and they were NOT provided even after the 3rd reminder. Our cheese dip was runny and was more watery than ever ate before. Came here on a game day..usually a big no no in my book. However, I was actually really surprised by the level of service. Our waitress was super attentive and sharp. It's bar food, what more can I say? I hear people dote and swoon and fawn over Taco Mac all the time, and I'm pretty sure they aren't actually eating ther re, because it is liter rally the most basic bar food imaginable. Let's start with the fact that I was placed on a wait list at the door and was told that I had a 35 minute wait which I initially had no problem with. This was at 8:15. By 9:30 I still hadn't been called so I walked into the building and then the girl out front I guess suddenly remembered that I was waiting. She seats me and I sit there from 9:30 until 9:48 with out even so much as somebody taking a drink order. 4 waiters/ waitresses walked past me several times. This location is the worst. read more

So this location is a go-to for us and we've been going there for sometime now. Normally, don't have any problems with the food or service, however the last couple of times have been on the low side of satisfaction. We were recently there to watch the NCAA games and it wasn't terribly crowded, but a good steady volume of customers in the restaurant. For this particular visit, we had a burger in one of the orders. Our waiter told us it would be an additional 10 mins to get bacon on the burger...10 mins wasn't too bad and now I know up front, so I said okay. The food comes out late, but with an understanding we were waiting on bacon...no bacon. We send it back. A long time goes by, everyone else at the table were done with their food...no bacon. I'm like what are they doing?!? Trying to catch the pig and make bacon?!? I asked for the burger to come out without the bacon and it's the same reheated, microwaved burger we had at first....with no bacon. I was very frustrated at the lack of communication either from the kitchen to the host or the host to the customer. I would've rather they said there was no bacon and we chose something else on the menu than to wait for them to create bacon out of thin air. Nevertheless, we spoke to the manager on duty, he apologized and we moved on. Not sure if management has changed, but it has been noticeably different on the service side. I had the opportunity to eat here and have some drinks during a training session for a company I'm working for. It was a nice place, and in a convienant location. The staff was really friendly, the food was tasty . Our service was a little slow, but I attributed it to the Braves playoff game, but the bar was readily available to serve. If I'm ever in the area again I will defiantly be there. read more

Dear Taco Mac, This isn't exactly a break-up letter, but I can't help but wonder why I keep trusting you just to have you shatter my dreams. I can only take so much abuse. The latest example was this past Friday, when, after realizing I had nothing to do after work, I decided to stop off at Total Wine, grab some beer an then stop by for a quick to-go order. Oh, what a relaxing, fun evening I had planned. I envisioned myself sitting on the couch with ice cold beer, fajitas (from you) and nothing to do but stare at the television...long into the night...perhaps clean out the DVR of it's stock of Dateline that I've been eager to watch. Oh, but you had different plans for me. After buying the cold beer at Total Wine, I stopped by and (I guess from the ways you've abused me in the past), I started a timer when I placed my order. I ordered a beer to drink as I sat at the bar waiting on my to-go fajitas to be cooked. I was worried that I wouldn't finish the beer before the food arrived. That, however, was not to be a problem. I finished the beer and sat there. And sat some more. And sat some more. I did expect a crowd to be there on a Friday at 7:15 PM, but after my timer hit 35 minutes of waiting, I decided I was fed up...I couldn't believe I let myself get into a situation where you could hurt me again. I asked the bartender (who had been doing her best to avoid me) if I could just get a refund. She said 'oh...I think it's ready now.' I went ahead and said 'I'd like to speak with the manager, please.' Two minutes later, the manager brought me the fajitas. 37 minutes. For a to-go order. I asked the manager what was going on and he said 'oh, I don't know...we were just busy.' Hmmm...that didn't really sound like a good answer, so I told him this...in the most polite way I could: "I'm a fan of this place, I really am. You have the best beer selection in the Dunwoody/Sandy Springs area. But, over the past year the service has steadily declined. I've written a few reviews about this place and have lowered my rating to 1 star, the lowest possible rating. I can't even get my friends to come back here the service has gotten so bad." Yes, Taco Mac, I still had feelings for you, despite all my friends telling me you were no good. They flat out just don't like you. In your defense, the manager did give me a $10 gift card, which I agree, was a nice gesture. However, $10 was not worth spoiling the evening I was so eager to have. When I got home (and I only live a mile from you), the fajitas were cold, the beer was hot and the DVR was empty! (ok, I don't blame you for the DVR, but still). Only time will tell if our bond can be restored. At this point, though, I do need some time apart. Never again. I feel as though I was street-hustled for the $20 I dropped at lunch. Like Robert DeNiro's character during a classic scene from 'A Bronx Tale' -- the $20 was well spent to get Taco Mac out of my life & I'm not worried about it. A colleague was leaving our company due to a new job opportunity. The team decided our group lunch would be at Taco Mac. We started our lunch at 2pm -- keep in mind this is the start of the restaurant 'dead time' after lunch rush & before start of the dinner crowd. I ordered a Schlitz beer on draught. Before jumping to conclusions, remember Schlitz was reintroduced 2 years ago. Schlitz is no longer a cheap swill beer. Schlitz was reintroduced with the original formula from the 1960's & it has a rich lager taste and hops aroma. Schlitz is a rich, manly premium larger The beer i received initially smelled like blueberries & had a fruity aroma to it. The beer clearly tasted like an ale. My taste buds were disappointed as I was expecting a Schlitz on cold draught. I kept the beer, with reservations, as it tasted similar to a Sweetwater Road Tip. To make a long story short I believe the beers seem to cross-pour (remember they have 100+ beers on tap) or Taco Mac does not clean their draft lines. When I ordered my second beer I ordered a Dos Equuis Amber -- also on Draught. The beer had a slick 'filmy' consistency to it. I ended up only finishing 1/2 of it and leaving the rest on the table. After 2 questionable beers & drinking only 1 & 1/2 of them, I'm convinced Taco Mac's draught beers are horrible. Why did I not send both these beers back? I've not yet told you about the food & the multiple returns to the kitchen for a chicken sandwich. Given the fiasco with my Schlitz I did not want to order anything too complicated. I ordered a chicken-breast sandwich that comes with blue cheese & buffalo sauce. Plus, you can get fries or upgrade for $.99 more to rings & order additional sides for $1.99. i ordered the sandwich with Rings, plus added a side of broccoli for $1.99. My $11 sandwich comes to the table. When i ordered I asked for a toasted bun. My chicken was wedged into an ice-cold bun as if just taken out of a bread-bag. My onion rings were undercooked & broccoli was gloopy & light green color. Green veggies like broccoli & string beans turn light green when they are overcooked. When I pointed out the rings, the server offered me another basket of rings. When I then pointed out the cold bun the server took the sandwich back, I then placed the broccoli with the plate she was lifting. Round 2: Sandwich comes back & rings look a whole lot better & rings appear very crispy. I took the bun of the sandwich & it was barely warm & had no toast color. Server implores me that she personally witnessed the cook toasting the bun(!!!!!) -- remember -- no brownish toast coating on bun. At least the bun was warm this time. Since the rinigs looked 100% better & as I was having lunch with 10 people at my table, I ended up keeping the sandwich to avoid an additional scene. Also, I had no broccolli. About 15 minutes later my broccolli shows up. Keep in mind I was better than 1/2 way done with my sandwich & quite frankly not eating any more of it as the sandwich was forgettable. I ended up keeping the brocolli and eating it as the 2nd time around the broccolli was darker green in color & not overcooked. No excuses for this. Keep in mind we were dining during restaurant 'low period' after lunch & before dinner. The lesson? Sometimes you have to take a loss, but in the end you're better off cutting your losses and moving on. Get too hung up on the past, especially on small things, and you'll never move ahead. read more

This is my lunch Taco Mac, and also my compromise Taco Mac. I use it as a compromise for meeting my friends who don't want to drive all the way into Atlanta and when I don't want to drive all the way out to the suburbs to watch a game on TV. MARTA comes reasonably close to this T-mac if you don't want to drive. The food is pretty much the same across the board at Taco Macs, and this one doesn't stand out. The chicken nachos are my favorite, and they weigh about 5 pounds. It stands to reason that I also weigh about 5 pounds more when I leave here. It's a really impossible-to-eat amount of food, but is good to get when you need to soak up more than a few craft brews. Fajitas, burgers and wings are also pretty good. Sandwiches are meh. The beer selection is good at this location. They actually get rarer beers more frequently than a lot of the other stores (looking at you Lindbergh). The servers are knowledgeable here as well. They can generally look at your list and make pretty good recommendations, unlike some other places (eat it Lindbergh!). In addition to the friendly people, I like the bar here better than other locations. It's a pretty decent sized bar and it's packed with TV's, making this a great location to catch a game. Parking is free, like basically everywhere else in Dunwoody. People sure do like to drive here. If the lots in front of T-Mac are full you can park in the deck right behind the restaurant. read more

You may already be familiar with Taco Mac in general, so I'm not going to rehash their whole history and menu. Just my lovely afternoon and it's special details. Sat out on their great patio.. Thanks to the foliage behind the building, it smelled like an amazing Spring day.. I cant get over it. Even though it is actually Spring.. The patio is covered and large.. Our waitress Lacey was awesome - super friendly and funny. She had a large party seated inside but she was great about checking on us. The wings are awesome.. and as I've mentioned in another Taco Mac review they're the way I like 'em - a rub, not oily. They have a couple "Beers of the Month" and if you order one on a Thursday after 5pm, you can get free pint glass. Nice! Bonus is free WIFI with no password! read more

Looks like this place has low ratings based on one specific, yet very important quality, shitty service. This place is useless. I cannot even find the right words to describe how useless this place is. My boyfriend spent a Friday night at this Taco Mac after work for a farewell party for his good friend. Had a little too much to drink and accidentally left his work bag and jacket at the restaurant. (Which I'm sure this situation has happened before and they should be properly trained on how to handle this.) We later call Taco Mac that night and ask them if they've seen a bag and jacket. They 'looked around' and said no. We asked some friends who left later if they had seen it - they hadn't. We call again to ask (because we're convinced that they didn't really look and his work bag is kinda a big deal) and the waitress rudely responded, "didn't you just call? It's not here." -- uhh excuse me..? If it were me on the phone I'd ask them who they were and if they understood what it meant to be on the clock at a restaurant. Whatever, we left it at that. Saturday comes. I call this time. I ask if they have seen a bag that was left behind from the night before. She said she was going to look and placed me on hold......... For 30 MINUTES. Clearly they can't seem to own up to any responsibility around here. My boyfriend calls again later and asks again... This time they finally take down his name and number. So, we leave it at that. We had tons of errands to run and hoped that a coworker kept it and would return it to work on Monday. Now Sunday - we decided to go on a Costco run and decided that we'd check out Taco Mac and just stop by to test our luck. Uh. Yup. The bag and jacket were there. Useless? Yeah. read more

this "taco mac" location confuses me. especially when it comes to both their food and service. I used to frequent this location like 2-3 times a week and that was when food and service was consistently great. nowadays, I just visit every so often when I am in the area. but when I do visit, service and food are always different each time. there are times when the wings are itty bitty and anorexic looking and just plain pathetic in size. then there's times that the wings were barely tossed in sauce. or perhaps you'll get lucky and get both combinations, meh. THEN, there's times when food isn't the issue, but the service be slacking. the staff would be inattentive upon your seating, take forever to come back, bad at refilling drinks, or just coming by to check on your table. but these negative experiences tend to happen 50% of the time. it's quite a gamble on this location. so this location isn't one I'd highly recommend since there's other (better) locations of taco macs in atlanta. read more

I really like this Taco Mac location. The food is decent and I love the outdoor patio, which is heated on chilly nights. However, the service is always horrible here. And don't ever order the queso as an appetizer because it will come out long after your entrees have arrived. Is it because queso takes longer to make? Is it because the service is terrible? I almost didn't go here strictly because of the name. Seriously, "Taco Mac?" I had this mental picture of a Mexican Ronald McDonald trying to serve me tacos. Let me get the food out of the way first, since it's nothing special. Tex-mex and burgers. The food is tasty, but nothing amazing. But who cares. Once you get inside you realize that you're in beer heaven. They have 100 different beers on tap. Let me reiterate that... ON TAP. Not bottled. Fresh and delicious, and I do mean delicious. When you factor in the amount of bottled beer they have as well, I'd put their total selection in the ballpark of 300 different beers. This isn't even the best part. Given their selection, you might expect to pay upwards of 7 or 8 dollars per beer. You would be wrong. The prices are extremely reasonable, with only a small handful of beers that could dent your wallet. Also, if you live near one, make sure you sign up for their "passport" when you go. It's basically a frequent drinkers card that gets you free crap over time. And everyone loves free crap. read more

We read the reviews and made the poor decision of ignoring them. However, some of the reviews seem unjustified and places deserve a chance, you never know, it could be a stellar choice. That being said, if I could give it zero, I would. Our waiter Mike was okay... He was trying to give suggestions but it was just overbearing. So we ordered water, that took 12 minutes to get--If the place was packed, I'd understand; however, it was at max 60 percent capacity. Then we order... It took 40 minutes to get our food. We asked Mike where our food was and he snarkly said it takes time to prepare. Right as we're about to walk out, the food comes. It looked, meh. I got the chicken fajitas. The plating is what you'd expect from a place that serves bar food. More meh. Tasted the chicken, let's just say I could do better cooking a frozen Tyson's chicken breast in the microwave. The onions and green peppers were tasteless. I'll skip everything else, the only thing that was good was the guacamole. Annoyed, wanting to leave, we finally got Mike to come over to get our check to us. 10 minutes later we get that. He takes the payment and disappears for 15 more minutes. Taco macs are super corporate now and they're going to shit. Had a horrible experience here last night. Definitely worst taco mac in Atlanta. I'm a server and I've worked in the restaurant industry for 7+ years. I'm also a regular at Kennesaw taco mac. Warriors vs Thunder basketball game was on last night, we were a 4 top, quoted a 20 min wait time. I honestly expected it to be longer because I knew everyone would be staying for the end of the game. Ended up waiting an hour, but that's not what bothered me. What pissed me off is lots of tables left, and nobody took the initiative to get a table ready for us! Nobody gave a shit! They were literally moving so slow I couldn't believe it. The manager was bussing tables and watching tv at the same time, moving slow as molasses. Maybe someone called out of work, maybe you're understaffed, but that's not my problem. We finally get seated, and I look around trying to scope out who our server is. There's a server in our section talking to one of his tables, maybe a girlfriend or friend, not sure, but he was paying no attention to us at all. We wait for about 15 minutes and that server finally comes and greets us nonchalantly like we had just been seated. I straight up asked him if we could have another server because he obviously didn't give a shit about us. The new server was nice, gave us good service, food wasn't hot but I'm used to that by now being a taco mac regular. Definitely won't be back here. People have bad days, food gets messed up, shit happens, but having a lazy attitude and not giving a shit about your customers is unnacceptable. It all starts with the MANAGEMENT!! read more

"Nothing like piling on old pancakes and syrup after a night of beer drinking." -- Dazed and Confused (1993) I'm a fan of Taco Mac in general, but this location is particularly nice - especially on the patio. I've come here plenty and the service is usually the same level of good. Friendly people, usually very personable. Patient, never rushing you out of the place and always with a good beer suggestion. The food is pretty standard - wings are good and always as expected. Lemon Pepper is my favorite and their ranch dressing is from scratch and pretty stellar. You can opt for celery OR fries. Fries are good, but seem like they are somewhat battered before fried. I prefer the celery with my wings. I like their wraps, dislike their burgers. Their sweet potato fries are delicious. I like the Brewniversity deal - going around the tour of beers and ciders and never having the same one. I appreciate the options always being different. I'll continue to come back - no matter what the location, I'm a TMAC fan. read more

Ok, we can all agree that the beer selection is pretty much unmatched by any chain around. Fred, their beverage guy is an absolute genius when it comes go getting great beers for us here in the atl. The food here is usually really good. i like the fajitas, the reuben is great, the cuban is ok. I've never really been let down by anything i've had. The service at this Taco Mac is almost always good. There have been one or two times when it was a little slow but that was usually when it was really busy. I don't really care for sports all that much but i do love beer so i usually avoid the TM when there is a major sporting event because usually its so packed i can't enjoy my frosty adult beverage. Taco Macs are really all the same - but for the unitiated, I'll go ahead and let you now that this is the place to come if you want an extensive beer list and don't mind paying $1-2 more per pint than you typically would. The food is glorified American bar food - think nachos piled with three pounds of toppings, cheese steaks, fried fish, etc. I can't say that the actual quality of the food is worth the higher-than-most-chains prices, but that's okay. Taco Mac gets several things right that make up for the mediocre-to-good food: * There are dozens of large-screen televisions all over the restaurant, and they're almost all tuned to different games. You can also request that your server change the television in your line of sight to a particular game. Provided no one else is already watching something (it's sort of first come, first serve) they're always happy to put your game on for you. * There are fun specials, such as Taco Tuesday. Taco Mac's street tacos are on sale, 2 for $6. They're normally 3 for $10, so this is a bargain. However, the tacos are only 3-4 bites each, so unless you're just not hungry, they probably won't fill you up. * The place is huge, so even during peak business, you're not going to be stuck with a long wait. * The beer list IS impressive - but to give you an idea, a pint of Sweetwater 420 is $5.50. A harder-to-find or seasonal brew can run as high as $6.50 or $7 a pint, which can add up quickly if you plan to have a couple of beers while you watch a game. read more

Seriously, Taco Mac at Perimeter has got it going on. Soooo many an evening has been spent with my fun-loving co-workers here. I'll admit, I like sports bars. Put me in a sports bar over a nightclub or fancy restaurant any day. So naturally, this place just makes me happy. And it's huge! Even though it gets crowded, I never feel claustrophobic. I've had their typical bar food (fries, nachos, wings) and have never been disappointed, and I've also had things like Salmon which was good. The food is always right on. It's nothing gourmet--hey, it's a sports bar! But I never leave hungry. My absolute favorite on their menu is the buffalo bleu burger. It's a typical burger but it's got buffalo sauce and bleu cheese dressing drenched on the meat. More napkins please! This place gets SUPER packed with all the happy-hour-goers in the perimeter area. However I've never had a problem with service--ever. They get your food, drinks and bill to you super fast. I'm usually with a group of 10 or more and the service is always right on. Surprisingly, this is also a good place for families with children since the menu is very affordable and contains lots of yummy food that kids enjoy. Also, there is no smoking at this location. I thought I had reviewed this place already, but apparently not. The beer selection at Taco Mac is PHENOMENAL. I'm assuming that people pretty much already know that by now, though, since they are almost as ubiquitous here as Waffle Houses. The food is also not bad. I have had chicken wings and nachos at Taco Mac on several occasions, and they are always nom-worthy. I don't remember if I've ever actually had a Taco (or a Mac?) here. Other than that, all I can say about Taco Mac is that sometime the atmosphere here (not just at this location, but at any that I've visited) can be a little on the douchey side. I attribute that to the large beer selection and number of TV screens. But for some reason, I still sort of love this place. read more

The more I come here, the less I like it. Let's start with how one time they did completely forget us despite us sitting next to the host stand. Yeah. Or how they don't get hockey games if they're two Canadian teams...the hell is that? Or that they honestly don't have enough TVs because people continue to watch irrelevant sports. It was almost a walk out of here two visits in a row if they wouldn't change one for my Habs' game today. I have no idea if that's a DirecTV thing or what but it completely sucks. Thankfully my team was playing an American one today so I could watch the freakin' game here. The good thing is they gave me a 3/4 glass of 312 for free because it was the end of the keg and had been taking awhile, the bad news is the wings were kind of like really soggy. While we seemed to have been half an hour before a 1:30 rush, it was just kind of meh. I wanted to be able to eat and watch hockey but I really didn't have a choice if I didn't want the wings to get gross. I'm also not a fan of how they mark what beers are out because what I wanted on draft seemed to be only marked as out as a bottle according to the menu but I was told I couldn't get it on draft. The entire going, gone, new insert really confuses me. But really it's the only nearby place I have to watch hockey when I don't feel like watching it on my laptop. So Taco Macs are typically fairly consistent. the food is consistently average bar food. the beer selection is consistently impressive. the vibe is consistently focused on sports. and now it's time to add another consistency. I think (and feel it was proved tonight) that they consistently turn over managers. Or at least I hope that's the case, because the douchenozzle working tonight should only fall back on 'I'm new to this' - if he isn't, then things are even worse than I thought. case in point. This guy ordered a sandwich and a beer. then got another beer while waiting. then (at minute 45) asked 'can someone check on my food' - then avoided the next beer offer 15 minutes later while still waiting. eventually, the soggy cold meal arrived, I started eating. Said manager came over 3 minutes later to ask "how is your sandwich?" Halfway into my response I was interrupted and told "They must have lost your ticket. I am going to discount your check" Got the check $3. off. Seriously, I could have brought in something from the pennysaver and been treated better and gotten a bigger discount. Look, you didn't even want to know how the food was (cold, btw) - you just wanted to check this off. and if you think that a $3 discount accomplishes that, you are either new, or a huge douchehose. or both. some of this falls on the bartender, I would think. something tells me the 'lost ticket' was partially 'i forgot to actually have one printed' - but either case, buy me a beer, comp me the sandwich, or for FUCKS SAKE really act like you care how the meal is when it arrives to me instead of asking a question and not listening to the answer. but sir, you did none of the above. and you aren't the only place serving mediocre bar food. other Taco Mac's have closed. wonder why. read more

Received side a French fries with ice cubes and water. Also, received cold wings that were then reheated just to taste like they were chilled instead. Terrible terrible service. Won't ever come back, this Taco Mac has lost all its life needs a whole new staff, immediately. read more

For starters, no one really comes to Taco Mac for the food (except for the wings). It can be hit or miss but it's generally "good". Probably slightly better than a similarly priced chain restaurants like Applebee's or Fridays. You come for the mind-numbing array of beer. Whether you're a connoisseur or a garden variety Bud Light drinker, there's something for everyone. Hundreds (I think?) of choices. Dozens on tap. Bonus if you're into regional sports -- especially the Braves -- are you're surrounded by big screen TVs broadcasting live games. Now on to my major gripe: service. I've been to this location several times. And I've usually had OK service. But last night was miserable. We were seated on the outdoor patio, which was nice, except that to the Taco Mac staff, it was as if we were seated on the dark side of the moon. For starters, my son knocked over a water glass. Our fault, but I had to ask two different people over 15 minutes to get help cleaning it up (after we'd gone through our own stack of napkins). Then our food arrived. After it was dropped off, we realized we didn't have silverware. I flagged a nearby server. After ten minutes, nothing. I went to the hostess stand. She told me she'd take care of it. Another five minutes. Nothing. I went back in and found another server. She said she'd take care of it, then disappeared. After another five minutes, our server appeared from the kitchen. I ended up waiting for her to grab silverware and walked back to the table with her. The manager walked by as we were eating and asked how our meal was. I recapped the evening, told him I was really disappointed and he said matter-of-factly "that shouldn't have happened". Then he split. Didn't care. Didn't even pretend to. So we won't be going back. It's not like our lives were ruined or anything. But for me, bad service immediately makes me strike a restaurant off my list. You want the honest truth? I go for the beer. Sometimes, I act like their food is amazing in hopes that people I'm out with will want to go there, but I really just want to try something new on the beer menu. Something about the endless draft selection does it for me. If you're looking for a sports bar that will have that crazy high-gravity Belgian beer you sampled in Brussels, this is the most likely spot to find it (except for perhaps the Brick Store Pub in Decatur, but that's for a different review). And definitely sign up for the passport club if you're into trying out new and exciting flavors of beer. I think eventually you get a t-shirt or something. Oh, I guess I should say -something- about the food. The burgers and wings are definitely above average for a bar, but not particularly amazing. This place is about getting your money because they have beer and TVs. The food... If you want to Call it that is horrible. But let me start at the beginning. I wanted so shame on me for expecting that from a place called Taco. My taco came wrapped in foil and No it was not a Togo order. I ordered one chick and one beef taco hard shell and got one with soft shell. I got sweet potato fries with my tacos (because there was no decent options) and they brought me regular fries. Whenever I look to meet someone at a Taco Mac, this location is the one I always choose. I love their ample parking with an open lot located next to the restaurant and a ton of more spaces in the parking garage just a few steps down. The staff here is very friendly and attentive, more so than the other Taco Mac locations I frequent. With ample bar, indoor, and patio dining, I've always found it very easy to accommodate even larger groups easily. Come to this location for your Taco Mac fix! read more
