The fish burrito was absolutely horrible. It didn't taste like fish ... too much lemon juice to kill the flavors....they need more. Indoor dining.... And get a new chef!!!!! Went to lunch there on 11/21/22. Had the mole enchiladas and horchata. I enjoyed both. They have several different sauces that you can use for other dishes (tacos, tostadas) that range from hotter level to mild and a salsa. Prices are in the $15-20 for meal. My twin sister suggested this spot for our birthday lunch and I must admit at first I thought it would be one of those hipster taco spots but once I arrived I totally took that back. Not only is it an ample and nice location but their menu was very veggie friendly!!! I chose to eat some veggie enchiladas and wow! They were so delicious! I did not expect it to have so many sides and was pleasantly surprised! I was full my the end of my meal and so was my family. Enjoy supporting small businesses, especially restaurants, particularly during COVID times. Food is consistent and good! Customer service stinks and cashier (other reviews support this comment) needs to realize he's in the customer service business and being nice isn't that hard. Some of the most unimpressive and overpriced tacos I've had in a while. Quality of food felt quite low. ESPECIALLY for something as simple as tacos. I paid $21 for three tacos with a side of refried beans and rice. I would have had 20x better-tasting tacos for half the price from a guy on the street. Also, what the absolute fuck is up with not being able to get avocado INSTEAD of guac without being upcharged for it? I'm literally asking you to do less work and use fewer ingredients. The only reason I can't eat guac is because I'm allergic to onion. It's just robbery. The register guy was kind enough but I didn't really feel like he cared to help me much. The service was terrible, food used to be better. If you don't want to get sick, don't get the left out in small containers carrots and salsas. The salsas aren't refrigerated and should be!!! Been driving by this spot for years, decided to stop by. Ordered the Classic Burrito with Carne Asada and I gotta tell you, it was the best all RICE burrito I've ever had! Whew was the asada?? Isn't that the point of the burrito?? Fortunately, this place is in Eagle Rock so the majority of Caucasian people in the area will think it's amazing! I used to here before covid but when I went recently back for there asada fries, I was really disappointed on them. They bare had any meat or fires. It had more sour cream and guacamole then anything. For the price it's not worth it at all. I recommend you guys to try other places before this one. This business isn't the same as before. This is one of the only restaurants I have trusted during COVID-19. I want to support them and I trust they are doing everything they can to keep both themselves and their customers safe. So we visited this place today, an uncharacteristically cold day in LA, and notice 2 people waiting outside. They explained that this restaurant requires patrons to wait outside until the person at the counter is finished placing the order. Been coming here for over six years and I always get the carne asada fries. Lately, the fries have been burnt black so I'm surprised they actually serve that and don't just redo them. Due to Covid, they don't have in-door seating anymore so you have to take your food to-go. The sides are now in little plastic containers and you can pick as many as you need on your own of the salsas, lime, onion and cilantro, etc. so it's super convenient and clean since everyone isn't serving themselves out of the same bowl anymore. The new front staff is not great. They're rude or forgetful. I miss the man who always used to work the cash register and the phone because he was always so polite and peppy. I think they should train the new staff better. VEGAN and vegetarian options! Way more than you would think. You cannot enter through the back of the building anymore. I just got THE most disappointing carne asada fries I've ever had. When I got them home 10 mins later, they were cold, literally cool to the touch. The entire thing was stuck together. The cheese was that shredded kind you get on sale at Vons. The fries were literally burnt and unsalted. The carne itself was overcooked. Not even microwaving it could save it. Hi guys, we love your tacos but could you please remove the strict signage from the front door regarding waiting restrictions if they are not going to be enforced consistently? I've both been yelled at before by the person at register for coming in while a person was being helped and then today while patiently waiting on a customer I was yelled at by a customer behind me on line to ignore the sign and go straight on and then laughed at by the employee in the front saying they don't pay attention to the sign. Discovered this place when a friend who lived nearby brought me here. I've been twice now and loved it both times, first time I ordered the asada burrito and the second time an asada taco plate. They get carne asada so right, it's so good!!! It's a little weird to me that the rice has lima beans in it but whatever, it's still yummy. Beans need some salt but otherwise everything is delicious. It's been 2 days and I am still thinking about those asada tacos tho. And with choices like The Coffee Table and The Oinkster literally next door, I would choose Taco Spot over both any day of the week. read more

I had highly anticipated my arrival to Taco Spot upon reading all of these great reviews from fellow Yelpers. My coworker and myself jetted along the 134 to get here, as we only had an hours worth of lunch. I can honestly say that I wished that my visit here was better. The place is just big enough for one of those hip, Los Angeles eateries. Just the right amount of restaurant goers for lunch, not too many, not too little. Given that my hubby is a vegetarian, I thought I would give one of the vegetarian plates a try. Upon debating on the veggie tacos and veggie burrito, I finally decided on the veggie burrito. Wanting to make sure I got everything I wanted in the burrito, I asked the cashier what was in the burrito. She didn't know. She pointed at the menu for me to read. Okay, great, they have bell peppers, onions, zucchini, and other veggies in the burrito. Sadly, this wasn't the case. My burrito consisted of beans, rice, lettuce and guacamole. No veggies whatsoever, unless you count lettuce as your veggie. Not to mention, this burrito was extremely small and chintzy for almost $7. That's when I came home and noticed that the cashier was indeed pointing to the grilled veggie burrito, which I wished I would have tried instead.The guacamole was also over powering and also lacked flavor. Needless to say, the burrito was still pretty small for $6.75 and completely lacked flavor. I truly felt that I've had a better veggie burrito at Chipotle. My coworker, on the other hand, had the fish tacos, grilled tilapia with all the fixings on it. Fish isn't my thing, but they looked amazing. She said they were full of flavor and delicious. They have a wide variety of salsas at their huge salsa bar. If you know me, salsa bars are where I love to hang out. You can never have enough of it, but it takes a special person to put together the perfect pico di gallo. The pico was amazing, fresh chopped onion, tomato and jalapeno peppers, it had just the right amount of spice to it. The avocado salsa, on the other hand (which is normally my favorite salsa), was mucho disappointing. It had all the key ingredients but just lacked in flavor. When it comes to parking, that's another story. You would think that this place would have plenty of parking. It has maybe 5 spaces in the back parking lot, park in the spots designated for the other business there if you dare. Parking on the street was sort of a hassle, but I pulled in a spot right as someone was leaving. Lucky of me to find at lunchtime. I really wanted to give this place more than 3 stars, so I've decided to give this another try and get the fish tacos or the veggie tacos. I'll review update when I try this place again, hoping for a better visit. read more

My family ordered two taco plates and one fajita plate for delivery through Postmates. The order came quickly and was left at our door. The order was missing the fajita plate. We called Taco Spot and were told we'd need to come pick up the fajitas, there would be no refund, there would be no gift certificate, there would be no effort on the part of the business to make it right. "Listen, the delivery fee was about as much as the fajita plate.." "Take it up with Postmates." Upon arriving to pick up the fajitas I was told that they weren't ready, please wait. I said, "For clarity- this was entirely your fault, you never prepared the food in the first place, and I'm meant to now go take it up with Postmates?" ""All you have to do is press a button..." I told him that my family and I had been coming for over a decade, spent literally thousands of dollars at Taco Spot. Made a point to order from them during the height of Covid. Had a yummy lunch with my daughter today. The girl at the counter was very sweet. Sadly I didn't take any pictures of my food. I did have the chilaquiles with chicken. So good. My daughter had the kids quesadilla. She loved it. I liked how they had everything clean and the sauces neatly packed in to give little containers. Not by all means " Mexican food" more like upscale junk food... We requested carnitas fries, instead of the normal carne asada fries and that had to be seen if it could be done, which was! It was good.. who doesn't like meat over fries and cheese. I had the carnitas nachos, which where good and tasty and overall very fulfilling, no short changing on the meat. I didn't like that the soda machine didn't have ICE and had to keep asking for more. I did however like how polite they where that after I spilled my soda they where really cool about cleaning up my mess ( there goes my ice) Nice salsa bar for your palate and I always figure if the employees eat where they work, how bad can the food be prepared. read more

I have no idea why these other Yelpers are giving this place 4-5 stars. I'm not going to say this place was terrible, but I will say that their food was bland and it's Mexican food for goodness sakes! It's not supposed to be bland! My friend and I went here before studying because we were in the mood for Mexican food. We ordered the carne asada fries and the chicken taco plate. The chicken in the chicken tacos were overcooked and it tasted like they didn't even season the damn bird! I had to put so much salsa on that thing just to make it flavorful. The beans and the rice were ok. The beans were on the salty side and the rice tasted old. I enjoyed the carne asada fries much more, although there were more fries than carne asada. I don't know why LA has such a hard time perfecting carne asada fries when San Diego does them quite fine. Overall, I would never come here again. For the price I paid, I was expecting something spectacular, but then again I pay the same price at El Torito and that's not very spectacular either. I think I'll be sticking to taco trucks and mom & pop Mexican joints from now on. But hey, at least I got my Mexi-can badge out of this check-in. read more

The food here is delicious but I have a minor complaint: I don't get why they won't let me order a taco plate with one hard shell taco and one soft. Since the hard tacos come two to a plate and the soft tacos come three to a plate, if they would let me mix and match two tacos, they'd be getting (marginally) the better end of the deal. Argh. Anyway, this is the reason I decided to get married. My spouse gets soft tacos and I get hardshell, and then we trade. Totally worth it. read more

i think the chicken tostada here is good but could be better. it misses the mark with a soggy bottom. this could be easily fixed if they put the beans on the bottom of the shell. the chicken was cold and i wish it had more texture to it, it was also a scant amount :(. i do like that they let you take as much pico de gallo as you want at the self serve section! read more
