My husband and I eat lunch at TT everytime we are in MB. The food is fresh and tasty and the portions are huge. I like how the chefs always have something different and unique on the menu, once we there and they had a Kobe beef burger with heirloom tomatoes...God. Best burger ever! read more

I've lived in SLO for 8 years, and I have never been to Taco Temple. I've heard excellent things about it, though. You know what makes you really, really hungry? Camping. That's what I was doing out at Morro Strand State Beach this past Saturday evening. So, my girlfriend and I stopped in. The waiting staff was nice enough....I guess....but they were super busy taking phone calls from friends and going outside to say hi to somebody that had just rolled over to say hi. They did kind of make me feel like a kook when I tried to pay with a card, though. I was starving, so I got the chicken burrito, which didn't disappoint in terms of size. I think the ingredient list went something like this: shredded, boiled chicken, white rice, can of black beans, maybe a little cheese? This burrito was more bland than a bowl of Kansan oatmeal. The food was sooooo disappointing that we had to go to Taco de Mexico the next day for lunch. Cheaper, friendlier, 100x better! There's a reason that place has been mentioned in every third review for Taco Temple. Don't waste your time!!!! read more

I LOVE this place, best mex on the Central Coast! Huge portions and some of the best home made desserts I've had anywhere. Sometimes it can be very busy, so plan for a bit of a wait if you are going at prime dining time during the week or on a weekend. read more

The only word of warning I have if you have never been to Taco Temple is do not be fooled by the menu listing for "taco" as it implies singular, as in maybe I should order two so I've got plenty to eat. This would be a mistake as the "taco" takes up an entire dinner plate which, if you finish it all, won't leave you any room for one of their awesome homemade desserts. This is not your typical americanized Mexican food, it has a definite "California" flair with a lengthy special menu generally consisting of freshly caught seafood. This place was great except for the fact that I had just returned from Alaska where the fish was super fresh. I am a fan of salmon, so I ordered the Salmon taco for $10. I will have to admit the fish was okay. Now, I guess I could have ordered the halibut taco but I was afraid to pay $20 for a taco with fish not so fresh. My boyfriends shrimp taco was also okay. We definitely enjoyed the mango salad served on the side and the salad topped on the taco. The fish and shrimp not so outstanding for the price. We have recently moved into the neighborhood and this place has served great food every time we have gone there. It is PRICEY but the portions are enough that we can share a single order. (that way there is room for one of their awsome deserts! This is not authentic mexican but in my book it is better. I love all the freash greens and mango salsa. read more

Sunday afternoon, waiting in a crowded entry area for a table for 5, when there were several open tables. The food was HUGE! It's almost disgusting to see this, the portion size is way out of proportion! The Nachos were soggy, a simple chicken and cheese burrito, was tasteless. Taco Temple, Morro Bay, CA Located in the northern outskirts of the Morro Bay community, Taco Temple should not be missed. The line goes out the door after 5:30 on many nights. The building is unadorned and the walls sparsely decorated, but the food is the real art. We ordered a Killer Alaskan Cod Burrito and the Sweet Potato Enchilada Plate. As our waiter brought the plates to the table, our jaws dropped. The burrito looked like it could feed four and the enchilada plate had to be presented on two plates. Our expectations were high with the delightful presentation. The burrito had a savory flavor combining beans, fish, and rice. The fish was excellent as was the other ingredients, but it could use a little more flavoring so add their salsas from the chip and salsa bar (help yourself/all you can eat). The enchiladas were unique with a mild green salsa. They were not in a flavorful sauce as expected with enchiladas, but the sweet potatoes were moist. I would probably not order this again, but was glad for the experience of this unusual dish. Colorful cabbage salad, rice, black beans with a dab of guacamole and sour cream completed the plate. Thus the prices are higher ($11 for the burrito and $15 for the plate), but the quantity of food makes up for it. One fish taco for $5.50 would have fed one of us, so well worth the cost. The waiters, looking like ordinary guys off the street, were excellent. They were polite, on their game, and gave just enough service to leave you wanting for nothing. Get there around 5:00 if you don't want to wait in a potential line. We will return to this unique restaurant that provides the right formula for success. read more

We visited the Morro Bay area and read one of their newspapers. Taco Temple was listed as SLO County's best taco. How can you not check that out?! We came early - around 11 am. We had our choice of seats, but within 10 minutes the place was packed! We were surprised by the high prices for a taco, however this was no regular taco! I got the shredded beef taco and my husband got the carnitas taco. LOVE, LOVE, LOVE!!! We would drive to Morro Bay again, just to go to Taco Temple. Yum! read more

Hands down best carnitas on the Central Coast. Best carnitas I've ever had. I would have to say the carnitas are LEGENDARY. I swear they put crack in the carnitas, they are so good. After being told to eat here by so so many friends and family members i did it! And it was delicious! The food was amazing, our waiter was fabulous...(Chris?)... and I could have died in chip and salsa heaven. so my bad, I went on 4th of July weekend to the busiest restaurant in morro bay and had to wait 40 minutes for my table...no problem, beer and sunset are nice before dinner... BUT....not giving order priority to those sitting in the restaurant seems like an excellent way to piss people off. After waiting 40 minutes for my table I waited 50 for my food. My choice yes, but owners choice to give such a bad experience on food time. I say owner here because you can see straight into the kitchen who is working hard, waiters are walking around looking worried and owner has smirk on his face. Hard to argue with success but from what my friend told me who knows the old owner, that would have never happened last year. Will I be back? yes! local fish is delicious! I just think that when they tell you 40 minutes for table they should tell you that its another 50 for food. read more

I had a pretty good experience the first time I went to this place, but was disappointed the second time, and will not return. First, the place was incredibly noisy with loud pots and pans coming from the kitchen, loud customers moving the metal chairs, and even a loud waiter. Taco Temple not my place of worship! Really wanted to enjoy this place as reviews were exciting and planned dinner on a recent trip to Morro Bay. Experience fell short of expectations. Arrived right before dinner rush on Saturday night and we were seated promptly. No info on specials from server and had to leave table to read blackboard. Noted: scallop tacos@$28? Whaat? Unless that was a typo on the blackboard or 20 tacos - I think I can make scallop tacos, salad and beans for less! Ordered sweet potato enchiladas and fiancee had platter of Chile verde. Sauce on enchiladas had no flavor overwhelmed by hot green sauce sprinkled with pumpkin seeds; Chile verde as others have described was dry with had muted flavor. Portions are large however without flavor there is no value. Agave wine margarita was good for size and price - local brew from Barrelhouse was worthy. More attention to flavor detail to highlight cal-mex cuisine combined with balanced portion will yield better review. Taco Bell in our opinion would be a better, more flavorful choice. read more

all i can say is no way no how!!! Lets first start off with the ridiculously long wait...we waited like 15 mins just to be seated. During that time we had to deal with incredibly rude waitresses and staff who at every turn had severe attitude issues. All I can say is WOW! This is the most original mexican style restaurant ever. The food is amazing. Best Chilli Relleno I have had. The sweet potato enchiladas are awesome. Great food no doubt, employees seem clean and in uniforms. Nearby restaurants were empty except this one. Only one problem, restaurants have to accept credit card or else I don't eat there. They have seriously delicious food here! It is so delicious. My favorite is the Chile rellenos. Their chips and salsa are to die for. Just make sure that you bring cash, because they do not accept credit cards or debit cards. This is the only reason I give them 4 stars rather than 5. read more

We went in and waited in line and was ignored by the host. Instead the next people that came in the host asked how many in their group. Wow!!!! Super bummed about our latest visit...after coming here for years, we were pretty disappointed in the service and food. We found a 6in broken piece of some sort of plastic serving utensil in our taco!! Informed the waitress who apologized calmly and made us a new taco. But she didn't act that surprised. Then our cheese enchilada was inedible. The tacos are still good, except when you get a serving utensil in the middle of it lol. When we got our check no discount and no mention of the fact that our meal was less than ideal. We figured we'd mention the broken off utensil to the front staff just as an FYI, but their response made it worse. No apology, just asked if we got a new taco and then said so all is good. I'm sorry but when your food is served with things that shouldn't be in it, a good restaurant will act mortified and maybe even comp something. Just saying. Not sure we'll be as quick to return sadly. read more

Love this place! Since I've discovered it the last few visits to Morro, this is a must stop for me and my husband! The tacos are like a big salad with fresh veggies and the freshest of seafood! The halibut and shrimp tacos are very good! Also the unlimited and free chips and salsa especially the green one are so good! An added bonus to this place! I think it is about time to update my review of Taco Temple. Again it is a full five stars and the quality of the food continues to be superior. So again I say, 'let me take you to your new Favorite restaurant.' And guess what it is almost always the case! Some people think this place is expensive, but let me tell you is is a good buy! But you have to know how to order. Take for instance the burrito - 8 bucks and plenty of food for two. I mean it is as big as my forearm! Buy one and split it! or my wife loves the scallop taco. 20 bucks - but wait it is huge, the scallops are huge and there is usually a half dozen and it would cost a lot more else where and ... The portions are typically a bit to large, unless gluttony and pain are on your list. So. Split is good to allow space for the incredible carrot cake. (one slice for the table please!) and be early the carrot cake runs out fast! See you there any day but Tuesday! read more
