A few months ago I purchased a Groupon for a cooking class at Talia's. I was surprised when I went to redeem the voucher that there was a several month wait. I attended the class on Sunday and I have to say- it was certainly worth the wait!!! Chef Andy was engaging, talented and very likable. The hands-on class taught all levels of "cooks" how to organize and simplify their kitchens. He also gave us time saving tips and some great recipe ideas. We sampled everything that was cooked. So much food (and we even got to take home the leftovers). I highly recommend Talia's and this cooking class to anyone who enjoys great food and is interested in cooking (any experience level). I'm originally from Brooklyn, NY. Every neighborhood had a local family owned deli where mamma did the cooking in the kitchen. The atmosphere was comforting and the food was spectacular. Recently I vacationed in Boca and came across Talias Tuscan Table. It reminded me of the Italian Delis from my childhood. My girlfriend and I took a cooking class at Talia's yesterday. It was about 4 hours long and I can't say enough great things! Chefbaba (Andy, the owner) is a kind, funny, intelligent and AMAZING Chef. He has an amazing background and the dishes to prove it..... Eat at this restaurant if you want some no frills, no bs GREAT home style Italian food at a great price! Take the cooking course if you think you're a decent cook and want to learn more! They have three levels of cooking classes. The first level being the most basic and the third level being the most advanced. We took the first level class and we learned a great deal (and had a lot of fun and some decent wine). We will definitely be signing up for his next second level cooking class as we really enjoyed learning from him - and not to mention... We enjoyed eating what we cooked! We used to love this place a few years ago, but after today, we will not go back. When you walk in, the place looks dirty. Service was slow and not friendly. In fact, the owner spilled my drink when he came to collect the menus. I thought he left to get something to clean it, but 15 minutes later he came back and placed the apoetizers right on top of the puddle. The pizza was really bad. The crust was like rubber. We asked for a box to take our appetizers. That took 20 minutes because he was engrossed in coversation with another customer waiting to pick up. We will never go back. read more

I stumbled on this place after class one day and what a gem. Not only has the food been amazing every time, but the owner is just the nicest gentleman! I have only been there twice but he makes me feel like I've been going there for years! First time, he gave us free cannolis for coming in the first time. The second, he up graded our sandwich's to whole sizes for being repeat customers! Anyone that came in he knew by name, and treated them like family. Sad, and most disappointing! I have been to Talias a few times especially because of the gluten-free selection. Today I ordered a gluten-free pizza for pick up with mushrooms garlic and spinach. The crust was delicious the spinach mushrooms and garlic were sporadic to say the least. I called on the phone to tell the owner. I know he is the owner because I have seen him and talked to him numerous times. He told me the spinach was fresh and that's why it was wilted. Tasted rotten to me.he told me I could come in for a free pizza next time. I tried to tell him I was more concerned about the quality and that is because there are so few gluten-free options for pizza in the area. He hung up on me. I ordered a pizza first thing in the morning for a lunch delivery. The pizza came right on time however with the tag still on it! Somehow they managed to bake the pie with the wax paper on top of the dough in between the tomato sauce and cheese. Extremely gross when you go to take a bite and are left with paper in your mouth. I called the store immediately and they apologized and sent a new pizza right away. I figured it was a mistake even though I couldn't understand how they could be too busy to overlook this since they had only been open for 20 minutes prior to me calling. Unacceptable. The second pizza came and looked to be better -- I say that only because this one didn't have wax paper in between. I guess whoever picked up the call didn't comprehend what I was saying because this time around they made the pizza and didn't put ANY paper. So the pizza was stuck to the box and was completely drenched in oil and grease. Completely non-edible and DISGUSTING. I didn't bother calling again because honestly what a waste of time. Don't order to-go if you're really hungry and with the current stars they have I wouldn't bother dining in either. read more

There is no way around it.... on the inside this place looks like its held together by duct tape and Italian sterotypes. The one and only reason I go here is because of the sandwiches, They are awesome! they make there own bread, and the Michelangelo with eggplant and chicken cutlets is one of my all time favorites. Chef Andy is gone....and so is the service and food. Was there over the weekend and ordered a 16" pizza and a Michelangelo sandwich (been ordering and eating from here for over 8 years).it took about 45 mins (i was giving the new owners a break so i didnt make a bid deal about it) The sandwich was not that bad except some of the fixings being abnormally cold and the bread a lil burnt. The Pizza was a whole diff story it was severely dry, burnt and completely tasteless. I took the pizza to the lady upfront who i believe is the new owner, she really didn't try to fix the situation or care if the pizza tasted like cardboard. I was not in the mood to argue and all that so I told her i was really disappointed and that chef Andy would never treat his customers this way.....asked and paid my check right away grabbed my Polaroid photo from the wall from 7 years ago and left the nasty Pizza for her.....dnt think ill be coming back.....this place has been a hidden gem in Boca for so long...really sad to say goodbye. read more

I dont get it - I see all these great reviews and I'm perplexed. This is not a place I would ever take a date or someone I cared about. You will be eating on disposable plastic plates, you will bus your own table, you will wait in line to place your order, you will pick up your own food, your food will not come at the same time as the rest of your party, you will pressured to leave a tip even though youre not sure what for, I ordered antipasto for 2 and it was a salad for one, the food didnt look anything at all like the pictures on the screen or on the wall, the attitude of the staff is rude New Yorker, the garlic bread was good. Was on vacation in town for a week and found this place on Groupon. First impression aesthetically speaking was poor. I didn't do much research before purchasing the groupon and I suppose i was expecting more of a white table linens sort of Italian experience. I immediately became skeptical as I pulled in to the strip mall and walking in, It looked like a takeout pizza place. Yet, my dining partner convinced me to at least sit down and look at a menu. Giant glasses of house wine were conveniently priced at $5 and the manager Frankie, a convincing New York charmer made us feel warm and welcome. The antipasto had typical fixings but was HUGE and the sauces on this plate were incredibly flavorful. Feeling like indulging, we ordered the chicken fettuccini alfredo and that's where we decided we had stumbled inadvertently on foodie heaven. The pasta was perfectly al dente and the sauce amazingly rich and creamy. One serving fed us both once and a half! We tried the cannolis for dessert. Crispy shells had been hand-filled with sweet, rich chocolate chip custard- yum! I will recommend this place highly for the excellent quality food and may come back to Boca just to eat here again. read more

Normally my rating would be at least 4 stars but our last visit on Thursday, 3/8/12 left the two of us incredibly disappointed and surprised. The biggest issue we had was that the meatballs were terrible. Nothing but mush with no flavor which was contrary to all prior visits. Our other dish was the a chicken francese which was nothing special. We actually threw away 90% of the meatball parm sandwich. I hope this was a freak occurrence. Dirty, unappetizing inside. Ordered over phone for pickup, they hadn't even started making the items until after we got there (when it was supposed to be ready). Watched them make my Rigitoni ala Vodka: scoup red sauce from big kettle into frying pan, add cream and butter, scoup pasta sitting on warm water from big kettle toss into same frying pan, heat up, serve. My wife's pasta and meatballs, same pasta kettle and red sauce into frying pan, wait for meatballs to come from other side of kitchen (not sure from where) heat and serve. We took a few bites from each and threw them away, the pasta was soggy and mushy, the sauces were terrible. Eat here at your own risk. read more

I was very excited about this place after reading the reviews. The atmosphere is really nice and different but the food wasn't all that. Its was very blend but the quantity was good too. I got takeout from the place based on google reviews. Not one person in the parking lot or inside at 7 on a Friday night. I should have known. I think the pizza could have been reheated from the lunch buffet because it did not taste fresh. The toppings were very pricey and probably not even one leaf of basil on the entire pizza. We took the Italian cooking class on Sunday at Talia's. This was truly a taste of Italian cooking and culture; there were no measurements, just finger taste tests!! Yum! We made 5 different delicious pastas (carbonara with prosciutto was my favorite), lamb dish, chicken and sausage scarpiello, homemade tiramisu) and let's not forget the homemade red wine to sip while cooking. Used to me awesome, must be new owners. I ordered a sandwich I have had many times before, this was the first time the used a microwave. The chicken was dry and mushy, and cheese, well microwave to get it melted. Then as I take my food some tall guy walks in on the phone, says something to the kitchen staff, walks into the kitchen, puts his phone away and reaches into the make line to make a salad for himself. Frank the owner flipped OUT, kicked me out, thencursed me and told me to get out and never come back Again after I arrived for my sandwich which was missing one of the main ingredients. Would you want to buy a burger that was missing the cheese? Well this was missing the main thing that gave it a kick and I said I didn't want it. I walked out very distressed. Once I said I was leaving him a bad review I was suddenly and aggressively followed back to my car where I had to practically take off because he was screaming his head off and pacing towards me calling me very rude names and all. I didn't expect that and now I'm am Never Ever Going Back! I hurried back to my vehicle because I felt that he was honestly going to attack me or my vehicle. I quickly locked my doors and he suddenly wanted me to get out of the car so I could scoop down to his level as if I was going to even try to rationalize with a type of person in that state of mind. I kept my mouth shut as he insulted me and complained that I was about to give him 1 star. I'd give ZERO stars if it was possible after he did what he did to me. I'm still shocked it happened. He called me names and verbally just attacked me to no end like really out of nowhere and continued to do so even more when he saw I wouldn't get out of my car and he was taunting me saying I was a wimp as I drove away. There's a way to treat customers and there's a way to make food. If Gordon Ramsey saw this place he would laugh. I'm shocked and almost thought the police were going to be called for my own safety. What can I say this is the most amazing Italian food in Florida. Where else can you go and get homemade mozzarella with a chuck of chicken cutlet as a sample while you grab a glass of wine and wait for a to go order...We order office lunches and individual lunches and dinners to bring home from here at least twice a week....Makes me feel like I am back in my great grandmothers house. I am not going to rate this business on it's food, but on it's owner. I was there today for the first time using a recommendation from a friend. Being new to the area I wanted to try different small places of business because I will, hopefully, be a member of the community as a realtor. I am 58 years old and have NEVER been treated so RUDELY as I was at this restaurant. Just because I stood in the wrong area to place an order, the owner let me stand there without correcting me of the "proper" place to stand. Being from New York AND Italian gives NO ONE the right to be a jerk. Being a realtor, however, this place will NEVER get a good recommendation from me. I just discovered Talia's, it is great. I just went back for my third time this week. My favorite is the Di Vinci, turkey and brie, on this bread that he apparently makes himself. Talia's is the type of establishment that you like to give your money to, unfortunately, I think I caught them at a bad time. I walked in at around 7:30 on a Monday briefly before 3 other parties arrived and I don't think they were ready for that amount of people. We placed our order of 3 sandwiches first of the 4 groups. About 20 minutes later the first two sandwiches were finally ready. It took another 10 minutes before the final sandwich was done, leaving two members of our party watching as we ate before our food got cold. Not that it was as hot as I wanted it - the meat was disconcertingly cold compared to the rest of the sandwich. In addition, the bread was very soggy and the sandwich was falling apart from the moment I first picked it up. However, I could tell the ingredients were fresh, and I may have ordered the wrong choice off the menu for my particular tastes and hot/cold preferences. All in all, I'll go back to try it again because I think we caught them at the wrong time. They had two peope behind the counter and 12 people walked in at the same time. The pizza looked really good, so I'm looking forward to trying that, and as we were leaving, they stopped us and offered a small plate of Italian desserts as a nice apology for our wait. read more

Been there a few times and always incredible. You cannot beat the food or the prices. I like the informal atmoshere and both the Italian menu and the Seafood are a must have experience. Unique combinations of ingredients make all the difference. Go with a good easy attitude, enjoy the environment and leave full and happy. This is truly Boca's best find. read more

My husband and I took Andy's cooking class! It was such a fun time, and the food we cooked, then ate was fantastic! I only gave 4 stars because there were too many cooks in the kitchen! The class should be limited in the number of participants, because accidents can happen if it's too crowded around the stove! All in all, great lesson, great food, great time! read more
