This is honestly a tough review for me to write because I love Tango. The only reason for the lower rating this time is entirely due to the service. My boyfriend and I come here regularly--about once a month--for the prix fixe dinner, and we always make reservations. Given how often we visit, I would hope there'd be at least some recognition or consistency in the experience. During this visit, we were seated and given menus and water, but unfortunately things went downhill from there. We waited about 10 minutes without anyone coming to take our order or check in. Eventually, we had to flag someone down just to order a charcuterie board. While it was a bit busy with a few tables ahead of us, those tables had already been helped and had their orders placed, while we were still sitting there with menus closed and no acknowledgment. I still love Tango, but after this experience, we may not be back for a while. I hope the service improves to match the quality of the food and overall experience I've come to expect.

Over easy egg with Portuguese sausage and fried rice

The coffee...not sure if it's pressure-brewed, but it has the perfect crema on top. I had the fried rice/Portuguese sausage and a single egg. A little on the smaller side, bt it was enough to satisfy. The Florentine benedict was also great, with a creamy Hollandaise and the spiral-cut potatoes. Very crave-able. We saw that thy=ey have a prix fixe menu after 4 pm with a salad, snapper and dessert for less than $40. Sounds like something to try in the future. Their regular happy hour menu goes from 4 pm to 5:30. Our server was very efficient, yet friendly. The ambiance is European chic and very clean.

Kai took great care of our party of nine including three kids. Tango is a cute and very popular lunch / brunch & dinner spot. It is casual & pleasant and there's a cheerful ambiance. There is both indoor and outdoor seating. Validated parking is available in the indoor lot next door. The food is great! I loved my Crab Hash Benedict. The focaccia instead of English Muffins were a nice and tasty touch. The fries are very good as well. I tried the Papaya and some of the Loco Moco (HUGE portion) rice... all very good. I also liked the coffee... it was very strong & fresh. It was a very nice experience. I think that you will enjoy a meal here for sure. Mahalo!

Crab hash Benedict (split) and Swedish pancakes

My friend and I have been wanting to try their brunch and we had a pleasant experience! We shared the crab hash Benedict and the Swedish pancakes. Both were yummy! I really liked the crab hash Benedict more since you don't see that too often at brunch spots. The crab hash was savory and I enjoyed the wedge or curly type of fries it came with! The pancakes were like your typical pancakes, good but nothing too special. The berry compote with the fresh whipped cream with it is what made it! I also got a Thai iced coffee to drink and it was a little on the sweeter side. We were worried that we weren't able to get a reservation for brunch on Saturday but luckily my friend came a bit earlier than me and we were able to get a table with no problem! Our server was great and I appreciated how he was able to split the crab Benedict for us making it easier to share. Food came fairly quick too. Overall, this was a nice place for brunch and I wouldn't mind coming here again to try other items on their menu!

I live close by and have walked by Tango too many times to count but finally it was 8am on a weekday and we unexpectedly found ourselves in need of breakfast, Tango is one of the few places actually open this early so off we went and I'm glad we did! We were the 3rd party to be seated when we walked in and service was very friendly, fast, and attentive. The ambiance is nice too. Clean and vaguely European. We shared a decaf coffee and a Florentine Benedict. Both items were excellent. I think they must brew their coffee with a mokapot since it comes out in individual servings with crema, it's super rich and delicious! The Benedict was great too, instead of the usual English muffin it had a generous portion of sauteed baby spinach with two perfectly poached eggs on squares of fresh thin foccacia with plenty of hollandaise sauce. This came with a big side of corkscrew shaped crispy seasoned fries. Overall it was a really pleasant and delicious meal. Their happy hour specials look like a great deal. I'd come back for those too!

A perfect spot for brunch and a friends gathering! We had a corner spot so was perfect to casually eat and chit chat . Our server was very patient ( sorry failed to get her name ) as some of us were running late..she was very polite and helpful. Our dishes came out in good time and everyone was very satisfied with what they ordered . I ordered the Crab hash Benedict and it was good but a little too rich for me but wish had a little more crab meat in it . The spiral seasoned potatoes were excellent! My friend ordered it too and raved about her crab pieces but maybe mine had less? The house cured Salmon was excellent. Someone ordered the Shredded Duck Confit Hash and absolutely loved it ! The Mushroom Risotto with Shrimp was delicious but also a little rich. I think the portion size was enough for me specially didn't want to eat too much at that time of the day . So we sat and talked till closing at 200pm ... Would like to come back and try the other breakfast items such as the Swedish Pancakes.. or Sweetbread French Toast .. Parking is in the rear and full validation ..

Tangö Contemporary Cafe is a modern restaurant located near Ward Centre that offers delicious pastas, salads, burgers, and other entrees. The House Salad had a nice balsamic dressing with very fresh vegetables -- the tomatoes on top were so juicy and yummy! We also got the Washugyu Beef Stroganoff and Roasted Vegetable Pasta, which were both flavorful and filled with umami without being too rich. Vibe: The indoor restaurant seating is classy and a great place to meet with family and friends to catch up over food. They have some outdoor seating, too. The servers were really nice and attentive. Parking: They offer validated parking in the lot behind the restaurant, but we parked in the Ward Village free parking lot since we also went shopping.

Located on Diamond head side of South Shore Market in Ward area, validated parking in their building. Must use the machine in garage to pay before exiting. This place does NOT take rez for parties under six (6). Walk inside and see a clipboard to write down your name and time to be called for a table. There is a bench outside to wait or some guests sit at the outdoor tables if available. We went there for brunch this time and menu had a large variety with reasonable prices and they serve alcohol. Hostess was very nice and sat us quickly. Brought us waters. Server brought me a drink while waiting for my friend. Food came out fast despite being so busy on a Sunday at 11:30 am. Everything was prepared well with nice portions. Lost a star because did not ask if I needed parking validation so I had to hail a busser, then couldn't tell me where to pay for it and what cost would be. Next time will try sitting outdoors as there are three tables for larger parties.

Great and quick service. Seated super quickly without reservations and a parking lot in the back that gets validated for a couple of hours. Ordered one dish each, I got the braised beef loco moco that comes with fried rice and the smoked salmon eggs Benedict. The loco moco goes very well with the fried rice but the sauce from the braised beef overpowers the rice. The eggs Benedict uses a really soft bread making it easy to eat and soaks up the egg yolk well. The fries were also thick and delicious. Overall left feeling super full!

Ate inside and it was super clean and aesthetic - staff were friendly as well. Got the braised beef loco moco and it was the perfect pick-me-up to start the day, got the right amount of feeling satiated from brunch. Would go again definitely! - Miguel Morales Photography

Consistent neighborhood place that I've been going to for years. Love their breakfast and usually get the smoked salmon or the Swedish pancakes. Thinner and not as heavy as their American counterpart. The coffee here is also really good, thanks to an amazing and expensive coffee machine! It turns out rich, smooth and delicious coffee. That's the rub isn't it? You go out to have breakfast and the food is amazing but the coffee is subpar. Very happy this is not the case at Tango, plus refills are free! Also enjoy their $40, three course prefix menus that change every month for dinner. And they've got a really fabulous burger available during happy hour for $10! That is one of the best bargains in town! You can also get a double patty burger for $16. A juicy burger and a glass of Prosecco that makes for a yummy dinner. The fries are really good too by the way...! Service is always friendly, validated parking in the Hokua parking garage or across the way at South Shore market. Not a chain restaurant....not gimmicky. Just good, solid and comfortable.

The food is always good! The service is also consistently good! The space is clean and modern.... Plenty of validated parking in the back in the guest Hokua parking. The coffee is the best! We come here when we must have a good cup of coffee!!!!

She suggested the mushroom jook where they would put the chicken on the side. They even added more mushroom to elevate his dining experience! Today we ordered family style, which they happily accommodated for us. They served the rice on the side. Our menu included short rib bao and shiitake bao (vegan), ume tomato, namul, spicy miso eggplant, crispy pork belly, menchi katsu, and mushroom jook. The standouts were the crispy pork belly with its watercress tomato onion salad, the ume tomato on whipped tofu, and spicy miso eggplant. The mushroom jook is so comforting, hearty and full of flavor served with chicken confit and a soy egg. The two desserts offered are both winners. The mochi churro with kinako and anglaise is crispy, light and creamy. The pineapple orange pudding is so cool and refreshing. And, 100% of dessert sales go to the culinary team! What?! The menu has changed to a more tapa style. We went with our two young children & they were very accommodating. We ordered a bunch of stuff but most notable was the Ensalada Salad, Croquette Cordero, Taco Raisu, Karaage Pollo, and for dessert, the Piña Borracha. We ordered some pork and steak skewers. These were ok, I would skip these next time. A little burnt. My favorite was the Ensalada Salad. The crab was sweet and the salsa opaca was so refreshing with the apple foam. Was told to smash the crisp on top and combine it with everything and that took it to another level! So good that we ordered another one. The price of this was so affordable too! The Croquette Cordero was like a mini curry ball with chimuchirri sauce. A little heavy but if you love curry, this is for you! The Taco Raisu surprised us. The taco meat was so flavorful!! Even though we were stuffed, we kept going back for more. It's like a deconstructed taco & you use the lettuce as a wrap. The Karaage Pollo came with a Cucumber Escabeche. It was so tangy and refreshing, which perfectly cuts through the rich, savory oiliness of the fried chicken. We got the Piña Borracha for dessert and that had a coconut cake, coconut lime mousse, banana lilikoi curd, and pasted pineapple on top. Amazing!! Great way to end the night. Loved the clean and modern decor inside the restaurant. As we sat down, our water cups were quickly filled and the only few questions they had for us was whether we wanted the wine pairing and we wanted to add the caviar toast and shaved truffles. We opted for the wine pairing, caviar toast and truffles. The meal was fantastic from start to finish. The most notable dishes for me were the ahi and caviar toast, cold corn soup, the lobster and the dessert. Sadly the portion of the toast here was about 1/2 the size of what we had at the cafe and unfortunately they didn't have uni for the night (maybe don't go on a Tuesday). Service was fantastic but they did have a few hiccups which were tolerable as the food was amazing. The wine pairing was also good and paired well with the dishes. As we are currently planning our trip back later this year, we will definitely head back to either the cafe (if the remodel is completed) or back to the counter for another meal. Ramen, according to the server, was the most popular thing on the menu, so how likely could it get messed up? Tonkatsu: Rich, but lacked any salt or had very little. We requested some salt and that instantly made the ramen better. The noodles had enough salt to carry it, but the broth was not great. It tasted like the broth was watered down or reconstituted, however no seasoning was added to re-adjust the broth. Broth: Had little salt and lacked punch, umami, and was brown instead of white. Noodles: Had enough salt to taste good, but was slightly overcooked Pork: Extremely bland. Tasted like zero salt was added during cooking. Toppings: Greatly lacking in toppings Tsukemen: The Tsukemen had a lot of the same issues. Now being a dipping ramen, the broth should be even richer and more flavorful than any normal ramen. Tsukemen -- no matter where you have it in Japan, should be richer and saltier than most broths, but the broth here was severely lacking. For $26 a bowl this was worse than your DIY frozen ramen packs. Now I'm not asking for Japan-level of ramen mastery here, this is after all, just a tourist spot -- but if your Tonkatsu is the best selling item, you have to step it up. Our server did mention that some people complained about the amount of salt in ramen, so they adjusted it. But dare I say, instead of diluting the normal salt/seasoning amount for everyone, couldn't you just add a separate, flavor-light version for people inexperienced with ramen, instead of diluting the original for everyone else? If you're reading this Mr. Morimoto, I would highly encourage you to fly here and order the ramen. I think you and I would share the same opinions. P.S. I've also been to your other Morimoto spots and it was not this bad.
