We wanted to see Hotel Del's Christmas decor and ended up walking by The Tavern. There was a short wait (30 minutes) so I'd recommend putting your name on the list and then carrying on with whatever you're doing in Coronado! The atmosphere in the restaurant is so cozy and everything we ate/drank was DELICIOUS! We had a lavender lemonade, a spicy cucumber marg, romaine salad, tomato soup, the shishito pepper burger, and the fish & chips. Our server Sean did an amazing job - he was attentive, friendly, and made sure we were satisfied. Definitely need to come back! read more

Let's just say that on Christmas Day, your options are very limited in general. This place was the only one open near the Hotel de Coronado and so, we came here. The place looks like a rundown bar with not much identity. The food is extremely mediocre and small for the price. We got the halibut tacos which sucked because the fish was not fresh. The burgers are alright but overpriced. Fish and chips felt frozen. Overall, it's a place to get food when you are starving and there are no other choices, I guess. read more

What's that smell? As soon as you enter or just walk to the restroom you will be welcomed by a sewer scent that would immediately kill your appetite. If you are seated at the booth (by the window) your view would be watching people's feet and also worry that street dust will go on to your food. The staff are nice but they are also not very attentive. Our food took a while before it came. Sweet potato fries is not the best, burger is dry, Mary's Natural Roasted Chicken Pot Pie is disappointing, for $15 I expected something bigger and tastier. The only dish I would recommend is the Mary's Natural Roasted Chicken, I enjoyed the lemon infused sage honey reduction, the dish is flavorful. Came to this restaurant for dinner on a busy night after roaming around Coronado. I had the shishito burger which was 4/5, I really enjoyed the shishito peppers and cheese in the burger, fries were nice and crispy. My 3 girlfriends all tried the chicken pot pie and rated it 3.2/5. They said the pot pie was watery and bland, but they did really enjoy the crust on top of the pie. The bathrooms were very messy (it was very busy and post holiday week) and the service was mediocre. We did have a spicy margarita and the rosemary raspberry drink which we really enjoyed 5/5 for the drinks. We would definitely come back for drinks. read more

I'm sad that I had a little hope of coming here hungry that the food would be 1/2 way decent for the price, but boy was I wrong! 1st complaint: our server was wearing WAY too much perfume which left a lingering taste in my mouth as she left. 2nd complaint: I ordered the crispy Brussel sprouts and roasted tomato soup and my husband ordered the fish and chips....the portion for the prices were ridiculous. The Brussels sprouts came out burnt and tasted like someone poured a crap ton of sugar on them. My soup tasted super tangy and was a child's size portion. My husbands fish and chips was 3 pieces of overdone fish that had zero flavor. Come on! How do you mess up freaking fish and chips?! Our waitress was so very nice and accommodating. I get that the kitchen can get busy. But when the dessert comes out 15 minutes later than everyone else's... I find it so very rude for the hostess to approach our table and tell us that a reservation for the table is here for their reservations, and they need us to leave. What a great find on our recent adventure to Coronado Island. We sat outside on a beautiful evening and had a truly great dining experience. Our server was the perfect combination of professional and engaging. The food - wow! My husband ordered a delicious Chicken Pot Pie - made from scratch and full of flavor. I ordered the tomahawk style pork chop with perfectly roasted asparagus and creamy risotto. The pork had been brined and grilled with a great sauce. I went here after work one day bc it was convenient. It's a quiet little neighborhood tavern with what you would expect in terms of drinks and food. I just had the Bud Light, burger, and fries. The Tavern is adapting well during COVID. They have a nice comfortable area outside to sit and enjoy. Service was casual and friendly- he did not try to rush us at all. Try one of their special cocktails- I had a coconut drink that was quite tasty. I wish they would have included drink descriptions on the menu but I am guessing they have changed their menu for their reduced seating and dining experience. We had wings which had Moroccan spices on them- refreshingly different. The sliders were also a hit. For the main course we had salmon, a burger and the steak. All were very delicious. I don't like to write bad reviews, but oh my goodness. My family came here for the fourth of July, and I ordered one of the most expensive mains on the menu. It was a salmon and mussel pasta. I was really craving pasta, and the waitress described the dish as "lemony and refreshing," so I decided to give it a try. First of all, when they first served me the dish, I didn't even realize it had pasta. That's because the amount of pasta was so small, it was completely covered by the salmon they laid on top. It gets worse. Not only was the ant-sized pasta not in the least bit "lemony or refreshing," the salmon did not have any seasoning, butter/lemon, or anything. They literally warmed up a salmon and put it on the plate. I genuinely believe I could have gotten better salmon at a gas station. That's not an exaggeration either. I was genuinely upset eating this. The only redeeming quality about this place was the ambiance. It was cool to see the Coronado crowd on the streets walk by as you eat. As far as service, the table we were seated at was dirty and we asked for the table to be wiped down, but even after asking twice, this request was forgotten. If it was busy I would have understood, but this place was not busy at all. read more

My only complaint is the menu, you have to download it and being that my eyes aren't the greatest it had to enlarge it and go side to side, which took a lot of time. I'd suggest laminated menus that can be wiped. Ben & Rosie tended us and they are the sweetest! Even the bartender conversed with us and was nice! The food looks like small portions but it was perfect! To the Chef, man you did an awesome job and those filet-mignon tacos omg absolutely delicious and not stingy on the meat!!! Our bloody Mary's also, perfect! I got spicy but it wasn't over powering with Tabasco or pepper they had a twist that didn't burn going down. read more
