Hmmm a group of 5 hot girls couldn't get in...We just drove over an hour for this-Bummer. We turned to leave and two managers told us we wouldn't have to pay for the parking because we literally just got there. Ok, Fine. However, the man in the booth has a fit when we tell him this and runs out to talk the guys into charging me anyway...just to be a dick. i just came home after being dragged to this club by friends visiting from manhattan. it is the first time i have entered a club since i moved to LA, and spending 45 minutes here reminded me why. the door was easy enough, though made obnoxious since apparently the woman running it is the only one who can give the final go ahead to let you in. i was annoyed because half our group arrived before us and was already inside, so clearly the name we had was legit. bleh whatever, one extra star since she let us in despite this faux confusion. at least she wasn't a bitch. the rest of this experience was similar to a cheap, tight dress: short, full of skank, and looks more fun than it actually is to get into. and just in case you were wondering, there were plenty of cheap, tight dresses here. my new york friends all joked that their hemlines were 5 inches too long. music sucked. the djs were two dudes in paisley suits who kept high fiving one another over their hipster c-list music choices. i wanted to advise them that when no one is dancing at 1 AM when everyone is supposed to be drunk, it's probably a good sign that your spinning shitty stuff. oh did i say spinning? i meant clicking the wrong songs on your mac. and single ladies, good luck finding a man in this crowd. although the one falling asleep at his table looked like a catch. or maybe the one drinking straight from the bottle at ours. your pick. good riddance teddy's and the rest of the LA club scene that i hope never to discover. i was day dreaming about seven grand the whole time that i was here. read more

If I could give this "club" NO STARS, then I would. Basically, they wouldn't let (4) of us in at first, not until they noticed that they had just let in one of our other friends; and when we all walked in, there were just (3) other people in the bar. Just (3)!!!! Practically empty inside. Really insulting. And no, none of us are fugly. Background: - We got to the "club" around 10-10:30pm for a friend's birthday party, where she said she had a table reserved. We arrived ahead of the birthday girl. - I walked up to the front with (3) friends (of Asian, and Mexican, descent). We gave our friend's name, and they said she didn't have a table. We said we would call our friend, and they stood there watching us make phone calls. - No line at all; no one was even waiting behind us, but they wouldn't let us in, they just watched us. So we decided to wait at one of the other bars in the hotel for the birthday girl. - A few minutes later, two of our other friends (of Anglo descent) calls us and asks where we are because they're waiting inside the "club." - We're surprised. - So, I meet my friend at the front, and the staff working the door sees us talking, and I explain to my friend that they won't let us in. - She says it's empty inside, and then all of a sudden, the staff says the (4) of us can now come into the "club." - Once inside, we find out that it is really empty! There are (3) people sitting at a table. - Also, we find out that our friend didn't have a hard time getting in at all. She even told the staff at the front the same thing - my friend has a table for her birthday. They tell her she doesn't. So she says to them, let me call her. And they say, no need, just come on in. My friends were visiting me from Canada. I think it was a sunday night, not too crowded. But the usual crowd was starting to gather. It was then that my friends and I noticed that most peole being let in were caucasion with light hair (white). So my ethnically mixed crowd of 4 girls and 2 guys decide to buy a table in order to get in. Tat worked. Good DJ's, nice bartenders (compared to other Hollywood spots), and good crowd, save the occasional a-hole who espouses the Ari Gold mentality. For now it's two stars...because I did not get in. It was a night of bar searching adventure for me and my friend Jason. When we arrived at the Roosevelt Hotel, the entrance to Teddy's was closed. In the meantime, we discovered that Playboy Golf was having a huge party inside the hotel...lots of plasticity, glamourama, and silicon if you get my drift. They had projected the playboy logo on the wall, larger than life, and we could have probably crashed that party, but I think the element didn't really appeal to either of us. So, back to Teddy's. When we made our way back to Teddy's at 11pm this time, the girl at the velvet rope entry would not let us in. I guess we didn't look Hollywood Blvd skanky enough? We had dressed up, but I wasn't showing cleavage, or wearing a mini skirt that was too small. We were told that Teddy's is ALWAYS reservation only, guest list only. Why the rest of the Roosevelt staff did not inform us of this, I am not sure. We may try again...just to see the interior. The people and scene I could care less about...what intrigued me was the architecture and the hope that the cocktails might be good. After living in Los Angeles for a while and being surrounded by the oh so obnoxious hollywood types, I was expecting the same ol' song and dance with a different decor. Was I pleasantly surprised! The atmosphere was dark and sexy, very cave like but in the sexiest way possible. The drinks were good, service was quick and I didnt have to constantly relocate in order to dodge any drunken hollywood wannabes trying to make a pass. Watch out for scams from bouncers!!! Got robbed of $500US!!! My mate and I had a trip to the US in May this year (2012) and stayed in Hollywood for 3 nights. We are Australians. With nothing better to do on a Monday found ourselves having a few beers in the Lobby bar of Hotel Roosevelt, which was a nice but quiet place. We searched our phones for a more lively scene and found Teddy's which was perfect as it was literally meters (feet) away. It was about 9:30, when we decided to go in and were confronted with the awkwardly rude door staff that others have mentioned. They told us there was a private party and we would have to purchase a bottle of spirits to get in, which the minimum price was $360US a bottle. We took a few minutes to convince ourselves that it was better parting with the significant sum of cash compared with going back to the hotel, so we agreed to buy a bottle and got escorted to a booth. The club was nice, albeit a bit dark, and not overly busy. We chatted with a few Canadians next to us, which was entertaining, but all in all it was a reasonably quiet affair. The bill arrived for the bottle about half way through our stay, which we were told at the door was going to be $360US with taxes and tip, but turned out to be $480US with taxes and tip. We asked about it, but obviously it's hard to argue what the door staff told us, so we paid the bill. After that it got weird. To go to the bathroom, you had to go through the lobby of Hotel Roosevelt. My friend left to go, but was gone for about 20mins. I went to see what was happening and found him in the lobby surrounded by 3 massive security guards (probably average 150kgs (300lbs) each. I approached and asked what was happening. My friend said they were claiming that he broke a window in the club and they wanted $1000US dollars to get it fixed. My friend had no idea what they were talking about. My friend is a respectful, mature person (He's a doctor) and I was with him for the whole night. A smaller guy (the negotiator) approached me and was being friendly and saying that he broke it and his bouncers saw him and that was that. I made him take me to the window, which he did. There was a tiny broken window, IN A DIFFERENT BOOTH TO OURS. I couldn't believe that he could even accidentally do it. It was insane. Due to the size of the window, I thought it would only cost about $100US, but he assured me they needed special glass as the building was heritage listed (That's the term we use in Australia, not sure of the exact phrase in the US). While I was in the club looking at the window, the large bouncers, discussed with my friend that they weren't sure that he did it, but that didn't seem to matter. The smaller guy trying to play nice said he would do us a favour and knock it down to $500US. I refused and he threatened to call the cops. We argued for about half an hour, to a point where we were worried about physical harm or spending the night in the lock-up. I paid the $500 on credit (They probably put it through as a tip to split amongst them) and we could go. I went back to our booth in the club to get my jacket, which had gone missing and no one at the club knew anything about it. I've heard about these kinds of scams in 3rd world tourist destinations or smaller european cities, but did not expect it from a supposedly well regarded club in LA. Between me and my buddy, the night cost over $1000. In hindsight, I should have called their bluff and got the cops involved. They couldn't prove it was us and if we had stuck to our story, I think they would have just let us go. It's easy to say that now though. Will never go back. Thankfully sites like YELP help to inform others. read more

Interesting experience. So while staying in the pool room at the Roosevelt I thought I would dress up and try Teddys. I walked in the main lobby to see a rear entrance, I walked in and saw it was kind of empty and not really popping off. The security guy walked up behind me and told me the entrance was around the front. This is where the fun started. I was told by a front door girl, some brunette that, it was invite only and it was full. To her surprise I told her how I walked and saw it was kind of empty for a Friday night. She was shocked and still didn't allow me in. So being resourceful as I am and loving to prove people wrong, I walked back in through the rear entrance when I saw the securities attention focused else where. Had a couple of drinks and walked out from the front thanking her for a great night, wasn't she surprised. First rule of bars/clubs - When you see someone with a rolex and a hot suit, you know he is there to spend $$$$$ on drinking... let him part with his money. read more

I've been here a few times on weekdays and always have a good time. I like that it's in the Roosevelt hotel cause if you drink to much you can just get a room =). This place has more of a lounge feel than a club. It's dark and intimate with lots of tables. If you are a guy you will probably need a table to get in. The music is top 40 type of stuff, mostly hip hop and some vocal house. It's $20 to park in the structure across the street. read more

I want to hate this place. I really do. But I can't. Music makes me loose control! Its classic LA mash up ADD style like one of our fellow yelpers said. Which I think makes LA unique from other cities. Where else do they play "Hey! Baby (1961)" and mash it up with "Hey Mickey (1982)" and then follow up with Jay-z 2000 hit "Big Pimpin". This place is beautiful and amazing, and the chandelier is breathtaking. The people at the door were no hassle. You walk right in and after taking in the atmosphere, you realize a couple of things. There's plenty of seating area, which is usually something I wouldn't complain about. The DJ is also awesome, as he spins both old school and some of the new stuff, and mixes it quite well. But why isn't anyone dancing?!?!? I acknowledge that the crowd wasn't one that I'm particularly used to, but I couldn't get over the fact that for the majority of the time there, barely anyone was dancing. Towards the end, a couple people got up and moved around looking rather awkward, but it wasn't anything like I'd experienced. It was a definite turn off. The drinks are pricey, but they were definitely strong, so they paid-off. This is a great lounge spot, but not what I expected. Reserved 2 tables for 10 guests. Upon walking in the people at the door were rude, did not have welcoming attitudes. Gave us a hard time to get in (keep in mind we paid for two tables). After getting in our server was indecorous and I guess concerned about wrinkles because she never smiled or greeted us. When we asked for drinks she gave attitude. If you don't like serving people get another job. My friends and I were trying to be nice and smile to ease tension but server disregarded it. My review is mainly about the absurd and irrational disrespect my friends and I received the other night when valeting our car to attend Teddy's. As soon as we got to the club we were turned away due to a private party. No big deal. We instantly went back to retrieve our car and move on to the next spot for the night. Expecting to pay for the full hour of parking (even though we were only there for 10 mins.) we had our money ready. The supervisors/men in charge of valeting let us know we did not have to pay anything since we had been there less than 30 mins. However, the guy in the cashiers' booth was SERIOUSLY power-tripping and incredibly rude and arrogant. In an immensely condescending manner he demanded we pay for the hour and said we could not just "park for free." Clearly my friends and I were confused because we were simultaneously being told by his supervisors that we did not need to pay anything. The man in the cashier booth then went out to talk one-on-one with his supervisor and blow the situation out of proportion. Resulting in everyone changing their story to us having to pay for the hour. Of course we paid the man, but then still continued to have the cashier-worker talk down to us. My friends and I were never rude or acted irrationally. We had ABSOLUTELY NO problem with paying for the hour. That is not the issue. Valet at the Roosevelt treated us with absolutely NO respect. If they told us from the get-go we had to pay there would have been no issue. The fact that they completely mishandled the situation and irrationally treated us with arrogance and contempt reflects horribly on this establishment. As a costumer we DEMAND to be treated with a mutual respect and gratitude for gracing them with our business. HORRIBLE employees such as the ones dealt with at the valet of The Roosevelt/Teddy's need to be managed better or fired for such appalling service. read more
