It was my first time that I tried this place and last. I was looking forward to it because of the reviews. Once we were there, we were greeted by a young man who took our order and left, and we never saw him again. We waited an hour for our food and that's only because other servers started asking, if we had order already.They gave us a complimentary appetizer for the long wait. I will say the other servers were nice and always asking if we needed anything but to that young man server horrible customer service. I will never come back to this place. They did tried to make it right but we were already irritated at that point. read more

This place is called the goat because it has great goat. I tried the goat soup with goat tripe, the goat tacos, and the goat ribs. They were all delicious. I also had the tamarind margarita and it was the best marg I've ever had. Would goat here again ;) read more

Oh snap, a birria restaurant in Long Beach and only minutes from my work? I don't know how I could've missed Birrieria Tepechi all this time. Maybe because it is located on the west side of the 710 fwy and in an industrial area of town? Birrieria Tepechi a great full service restaurant that specializes in birria in addition to most of the standard Mexican menu items. Goat is one of my favorite meats. It is lean, sustainable, tender and has the ability to soak up and intensify all the flavors of the vegetables and spices that it is partnered with. The dish I had, Birria Revocada, was no exception. Tender pieces of goat meat stewed in a redish brown sauce mixed with a combination of grilled vegetables... but oh, is that grilled serranos I see? What a burst of flavors! If you want more of a rush, instead of the standard salsa that they served with chips, ask for Birrieria Tepechi's hot sauce. A dap with the goat meat and liberally splash this magic concoction on to the beans and rice. My sweetie had the Birria combo plate. This is straight up stewed goat meat in its delightful sauce - goat meat a cappella - diced onions and parsley on the side - nothing to mask any off key goat meat; there was none! Birrieria Tepechi is nicely decorated with a comfortable atmosphere. The service friendly but a bit slows. Next time? Birria Adobado. read more

SOoooo..I was a bit on the fence abt this place..one the location two the location and three looks deserted..mmm I guess I'll try it. The hubby told me this place is fantastic but I don't want to hear it. I don't want anybody influencing my judgement. I ddnt evn look at the yelp reviews.. We parked and I got out of the car I saw the super large door which I immediately loved..its like when a short girl see a tall guy she's immediately attracted too..lol ((short girl joke)) no not really..watch out tall lovers! Open the door when inside and it's a huge place. We sat and ordered our food..salsa and chips came out..wow the chip was warm and the salsa omg was what i think salsa should be able, look and taste like! Ordered: Goat stew with tripe & hearts Fish tacos I think the birria goat stew was super delicious, I hate to order smething I'm not sure if it'll taste gamy but was not...but I can say there wasn't enough seasoning on the fish taco..it was missing smething ohh yeah flavors. I had been to Tepechi years ago in their past location, I remember it being good. So on a Friday afternoon my friend and I wanted some decent priced yet great tasting Mexican food. I looked up Mexican food near Wilmington, Ca and this sweet shoot popped up. My friend is vegetarian, so we had to verify if they had options, they did. I drove over and we were excited because everything on the menu looked great. When we arrived inside we were greeted by the host I believe and waited a couple of seconds, then she showed us our table, when we were ready to order our waitress was most helpful with my friend's vegetarian food questions, anyway long story short, we became regulars for a couple of weeks when we had to do work around that side of town, great food, good prices and atmosphere and service to the customer. Accidentally stumbled into this place Since there's another Mariscos restaurant almost a block away was originally headed there but this place caught my attention and I'm glad I did the salsa was great A!!! Waitress constantly checking on me if I was OK which I loved. This place is THE PLACE for birria. The goat meat was tender, flavorful and simply incredible. We visited the place around 6 pm and it wasn't busy at all. Server was friendly and he brought out chips and took our order promptly. This was my second visit and I don't know why I haven't been back more often. I haven't tried other dishes here so I can't comment on the rest of the menu. But I can tell you their chips and salsa were absolutely perfect. I was afraid I'd eat them all and leave no room for my food. The tomatillo salsa was my favorite. There's also the chile macho that the server brought in a glass container if you need more spice on your life. This is our new favorite spot for the food, service, and overall satisfaction! We came here with a couple clients who have raved about this place for a long time. It's a pretty rustic looking venue that's apparently super popular with the lunch crowd. The layout of the restaurant is interesting in that it's an upside down reverse "L" shaped. It's not huge so we counted our lucky stars snagging a table at peak lunch time. Chips and salsa: Pretty darn good...the chips could have been a little less greasy but that didn't stop us (me) from mowing through two baskets. I'm personally not a fan of goat so I didn't try the birria. However, I was reassured that everything was great. Under pressure, I selected chicken and spinach enchiladas. This is somewhat unusual for me as I typically only ever order cheese enchiladas. However, when my entree came, I was pleasantly surprised at how tasty it was. The enchilada sauce was tasty and unlike chicken enchiladas I've had in the past, it was very moist inside. The beans and rice were just "meh" though which is disappointing because this is what I look forward to when I get combo plates. One of my dining companions raved about the chicken salad and when it came, it did look like a very fresh and delicious salad. They also give you a bunch of squeeze bottles which all contained very tasty sauces. I think a few were salad dressings. Service was friendly but it took a while to get out of there due to how busy they were. Definitely a great place for lunch if we ever find ourselves nearby again. read more

Definitely my top 5 of Mexican restaurants. It's very open and spacious. They have a very nice outside dinning area and the customer service is always friendly. The fajita mix and chicken and spinach enchiladas are my go to. They have a very spicy homemade hot sauce and their salsas are flavorful. MY FAVORITE MICHELADA place hands down. I used to love going to this restaurant with my family, I'm a a customer for more than 30 years, since they were located in Wilmington but unfortunately, the prices have become exorbitantly expensive. The food is still very good, but it's just not feasible for us to continue going there with such high prices. It's a shame because we really enjoyed the atmosphere and the service was always top-notch. However, we have had to find more budget-friendly options that still offer delicious food. skirt steak , guacamole, beans, and chilaquiles for $25.95 + $4.50 a drink+ $3.00 tax + 20% tip $6.00 and it's around $ 36.45. I really wanted to like this place. The area is a bit sketchy but I don't care. The restaurant itself is very good. Big, clean and homey inside. So far so good. Ther service was above average. In the end the food needs to be good and that is where the problem was. Everything was thrown together and tasteless. We have been looking for a good Birria place for some time now, no luck so far. Have tried the birria from a co-worker who brought it in a few weeks ago; tender and flavorful meat. Not spicy at all. Went there myself this evening. Wanted to see what else was delicious. So I Ordered to-go: 2 carnitas tacos, 1 Carne Asada taco (no cilantro), Chicken and Spinach burrito with no cheese (dry), fresh guacamole (no cilantro), and a Carne Asada plate. -Ate the carne asada taco- great tender meat and had good flavor. -Friend ate the carnitas and said it was good. -Having the chicken and Spinach burrito with no cheese for lunch tomorrow but already took a bite and loved it! Cannot wait to eat it. -Guacamole (fresh made with no cilantro) was delicious. Chips were fresh too. -The carne asada plate came with guac (also with no cilantro), Refried beans, and rice. The carne asada came in 2 pieces (a medium chunk and a larger chunk.). Unfortunately it was a bit dry, but the same flavor as the taco was still there. Might have to tell them not to cook it so long next time. A Great hidden Mexican food Spot. Will be returning!! Dining in on my next time there for sure. read more

Homemade tortillas would have brought the rating to five stars but we're not in Mexico. Great selection of bottled Mexican beers. The other items being brought out to other tables looked amazing.
