Best place for fried tilapia in Long Beach at Tepechi Restaurant. Always fresh and lots of food. Excellent salsa and chips with impeccable service. Limited parking so be prepared to drive around and look. Big restaurant with cool decors. Almost 30 percent of the people here get the fried tilapia. Highly recommend.

My husband took me here a couple weeks ago. I had never been or even heard of it but he went several years back.... It was really good. The steak with the dish that we got was SO flavorful. *yum* I'd definitely go back.

    Birria (Large Original)

First time here. Was told about Tepechi from a friend of mine. I ordered a large birria (Original). Food came out out quick. Hot and very flavorful! The broth had a great flavor and the meat was cooked very well. The only thing this palce needs are home-made tortillas. That would give this place 6 stars. Other than that, service was great and the food was delicious. Come check them out.

We were craving birria and let me tell you this place does not disappoint. They have birria de res y chivo both very delicious. We didn't even take a before picture. The service was great and the environment was very nice. I felt like I was eating in Mexico but missing the Mexico vibes and smells lol. But I loved this place. I will defiantly be coming back here. Really good micheladas as well

DELICIOUS!! From the chips and salsa to my entree, everything was phenomenal. Service was great, the server was attentive and did a great job serving me and my party while serving other larger parties at the same time. The ambiance is relaxing with good Spanish music playing in the background. Thanks!

Today was my first time here, I had the chimichanga. It was delicious. The service was great and the place was very nice and friendly. The restaurant was playing great Spanish music. Would definitely come back again! The drinks were tasty.

As someone who didn't grow up eating Mexican food I was never very fond of it. That being said Tepechi is around the corner from my job and is our go to whenever we have guest visit. It's probably not a stretch to say that they are one of my favorite restaurants not just Mexican food but in general. Food is very authentic and portions are generous. I haven't tried many different dishes because I always get stuck on Birria but everything I've ever gotten was delicious. Definitely stop in if you're in the area and looking for a good meal that won't break the bank.

Food did not disappoint ! Probably the best chicken quesadilla i've had in a while. Wet chile verde burrito was absolutely delicious (beans on the side) Came here after a night out & got exactly what I wanted + more. Guac was fresh too. Will definitely be back to try more here!

Pretty good food here! I got the steak picado which came with rice/beans and peppers/onions! A good solid plate! Also got the guacamole which tasted a bit salty but manage to finish it! I believe the birria is the star of the show here so i will try that next time! I should of known by looking at people plates it was mostly the birria. They have 3 different kinds of birria meat cuts i seen to go in the soups. The place is HUGE inside and they have a tent for outside dining which i don't think they're using anymore due to covid restrictions. It was pretty busy inside on a wends so they get alot of customers! It's right across the street from santa fe importers. Nice people running this place! Parking around the back area which was good and makes your feel safe. Yes i will go back again and try different items!

First of all one of their workers with the mastche and tattoos is so cute which is always a plus for the ambiance. It didn't take long to get our food. About 5 minutes and they brought it out to where we sat since we dined in. First of all! You need to get an aguas fresca. We got the medium for the orange mango and the Jamaica. They are so natural. I'm a huge fan of artificial flavor so this was a huge shock, but it pairs so well with their food. My only regret isn't getting the large. For the food we got the burrito 2.0 asada and the chivichanga chicken. The burrito was great but very heavy on the beans. Make sure you get extra green salsa. It's their best and a perfect balance of salty with a hint of sweet. The red salsa gets spicy. If you can't handle hot Cheetos don't eat it. Now the chivichanga thing was perfect. It's so tiny but the fact it's about $5 was perfect. I have never had something so well priced and portioned before. The way I can describe it if you ever wanted to taste high class Taco Bell that will make you want four more then you need to try it. And I mean this in the best way possible. It's so cheesy and savory and yummy!!! Truly just from these two dishes we will be coming back to try the rest of the menu. Our next dishes is to try the tacos!

We ordered caramelos with the poblanos inside, as well as their horchata. Tortillas are some of the best I've had. Super soft and flavorful from the grill. The fillings and salsa were good too, but it was really wet, and the bean ratio especially compared to the meat, was a little off. Always am going to want more meat. Horchata was unique since it was coconut based. Overall solid spot with patient staff. Tacos La Rueda is still better, but will be back when in Long Beach.

It's normally taco Tuesday or dinner. It wasn't busy when we arrived. Mainly everyone was seated outside which we wanted a table as well. There was one that we were interested in and asked if we could have it which the waitress working was ok with. But it needed clearing up. It took a while for someone to come out and clear and clean the table up. It was fine waiting but it was like did someone forget about us. Anyways. We got seated and then the waiting continued. It could be that they were short staff but it seemed like there was only one person working. It took a while for someone to finally come back and acknowledge us and take our order. After that the chips and salsa were brought out. Once we ordered the drinks it was easier to place everything together. Menu for happy hour is pretty limited. A few drinks and beer on drafts and for food, maybe 6 items on the menu. Went with an order of the street corn which was quite tasty. An order of the mole chicken nachos and the queso dip with barria. Out of the three, the queso dips and the street corn were great. Nachos were good but nothing really major. The flavors of everything were quite tasty. Dishes were 12.00 an item. For happy hour, it was decent and what we had was good. The service was pretty slow at the beginning. Only the front patio and inside seating was available as the back patio wasn't open. We did start to see other staff walking in so maybe there was only one staff during the time.

The soup here lacks the tastebud awakening zip that Don Chato's has. The ono fish taco experience was my fault... I hate fried fish taco, so I had lofty expectations, but due to the fact that I do not prefer corn tortillas, guacamole or raw onions, led to much disappointment since It has all three. Totally my fault. The butternut enchilada was lacking in the expected savoriness... this is being polite. The potato taquito was okay... but I am not a taquito person, so if you are I would seriously encourage you to try it. The star of the table was the Mexican corn. It may not compete with Cornman in Lincoln Heights, but it was decent. I scraped off the onions and toppings on the ono tacos, put the fish on the flour tortillas that another person didn't want, and topped the fish with refried beans, street corn and a but if the chicken tortilla soup broth to make due. When you are driving more than 30 minutes for this experience, I think you would agree that it was less that a proper way to celebrate a birthday. Oh and if there isn't any street parking. It'll cost you about 9 bucks in the lot. I didn't use the restroom, so I cant review its cleanliness. Our waitress was flawless taking orders and delivering food The restaurant itself has a great layout and an outdoor courtyard complete with propane heaters and umbrellas - I loved that... but my favorite part was out front, no not the seating area in the former parking spaces, nope... it was the collapsed woman on the sidewalk, walking her dog with snot running out of her nose because she was huffing some aerosol can of whatever. This truly set the mood upon arrival. Two stars for being close to a lot of other food choices to visit afterward.

Palapa next door offers the same food menu but has more drink options. Many opted for outdoor seating on the terrace due to the gorgeous views, but not wanting to wait we agreed to indoor seating. The interior of the restaurant is also very beautiful. The bathrooms were too dark for my tastes though. Our waitress was absolutely phenomenal, super friendly and anticipating all of our needs (water refills, leftover containers, etc.). Service overall by all staff was friendly. We were actually presently surprised with the taste of the food, thinking it might be more Americanized but they actually had very authentic and tasty totopos (tortilla chips). The tomato salsa that came with the chips was also very refreshing. We asked for hot sauce too and the house habanero salsa really packed a punch! We ordered carne asada nachos, pork belly chilaquiles (from the brunch menu), a breakfast burrito, poke, and steamed clams. The steamed clams came in a rich tomato broth and the breakfast burrito was massive. The poke was just okay and the chilaquiles a bit too soggy for me, and the carne asada nachos a bit dry. Nonetheless, presentation and portion sizes were respectable. The last comment is that food here is quite pricey but that reflects the likely high rent of a restaurant in 2nd and PCH. Ola still exceeded expectations and provided a more than pleasant meal.

We ordered the "made to order table side guac" for 15.50 for an appetizer. About 10 minutes later, a guac is delivered to the table that was either run through a blender or was taken from a tub with a spoonful of pico mixed in. So much for the advertised table side experience or fresh avocado. The guac we buy at Trader Joe's and from Costco are way better. Third Interaction when ordering an entree.
