I am definitely a fan. It's a friendly place to visit. They have generous portions, delicious taste and a variety of choices. I enjoyed our meal. I can't say that I would come back but it's one because it's out of the way. The prices are a little higher than I would like to pay but what can I say? First time eating here ,went for the birria,because I'm a birria afficionado ,the service was Exellent ,i was greeted when I arrive and after I was seated, I wasn't even there two or three minutes when I already had in my table hot chips and excellent salsa and within another 2 or 3 minutes the server JOSE LIUS WAS EXELLENTE!! came and took my order and I will say about 5 minutes ,there it was my birria. The portion was very filling and The Taste was good, the only reason I give four stars it's because they didn't have homemade tortillas. The portions were big, let us just say we were on our way to San Diego, we didn't have our next meal till 5pm in San Diego. The it self were delicious and very authentic. LOCATION: They are on the S.E. corner of Santa Fe Ave & Cowles St, 3 streets (not blocks) North of Anaheim Street. (1/2 mile West of the 710 Fwy). We started with agua fresca, jamaica and horchata, queso fundido, enchiladas, and birria de chivo en caldo. So here's the rundown... Agua fresca - Jamaica & horchats, both legit & on point! So good! I had the jamaica, not too sweet and not too tart, perfect! He had the horchata, OMG soooo good! You could taste the "homemade" in it. Queso fundido - For those that don't know, it's chorizo smothered in melted cheese and baked. Hot, ooey-gooey, deliciousness! Enchiladas - He ordered the 2-enchilada dinner plate, 1/chicken & 1/beef. I didn't taste but he said they were both good. Although, he definitely enjoyed the beef one way more. No joke, he closed his eyes and smiled when he ate it! Rice & beans were cool. Birria - OMG my mouth just watered as I typed that! hahahaaaaa... It was on point! Not exactly like back in the mother-land, but thee best I've had in the states. I must say first of all i'm not really big on Birria....from attending alot of Mexican parties where Birria is often served i learned to have a distaste for Birria. However from having some very good Birria from time to time i always seem to have a urge every once in a while so i decided to visit this spot for lunch. The Birria at this restaurant was very delicious. I tried the Birria Adobada plate and it had an amazing flavor to it and the Consommé was also very good with a lot of flavor. It's difficult to get authentic home cooked meals on the road. This place seemed so much better than hone cooking. Everything is hand made in house, I knew when I got hot chips and tangy chunky salsa that this was going to be a good experience. Food came out hot in 10 minutes & was very good. Only issue I had was the male server dropped my food off, then never came back until he had the bill ready. We entered around 2pm on a Wednesday. The place was rather empty since I think we just missed the lunch rush. The place was clean and nice, felt like it was an older style place. My friend was interested in some Birria, and I haven't had it before. He brought me here because he said it would be amazing. To my surprise, it surely was! The broth was just thick enough, and ridiculously flavorful, and most importantly the meat was amazingly tender and delicious. The icing on the cake, however, was the flan. Mind you, I LOVE FLAN. The server asked if we wanted dessert and I asked what they had, she said Flan and a few other things, but I stopped listening after I heard flan. Lo and behold this amazing looking picture perfect flan arrives on a plate. I take one bite.. I'm in heaven. I knew I loved flan before, but I loved flan that wasn't even amazing delicious flan.
