I don't know what this talk is about the unlimited chips and salsa. We didn't get any. FYI, this is not the only place to get $1 tacos and $4 margaritas for Taco Tuesdays. And they couldn't do half-price appetizers? Bleh. The place is huge and they seat people throughout the patio as well so the wait was not as bad as they might have made it seem. And the tacos were delivered in a matter of minutes. Probably because they were all dried and shriveled up, ready to go about hours ago. Even the tortillas were stale. And I'm pretty sure they do not marinate their meat because they tasted so bland. At least validated parking was $1 which is the equivalent of a shitty taco. They should re-name this place to, "Have Tequila and Get Jacked" or "TeKillya Yacks!" The food and service go hand in hand: HORRIBLE!!! My 3 friends and I had initially gone to the Yard House but didn't want to wait 40-50 minutes for a table so we opted for immediate seating at Tequila Jack's since we were all hungry. Little did we know the terrible experience that awaited us. Here is a list of the staff/restaurant shortcomings that took place on 6-17-12. I will refer to our waitress, Kristen as "she" in the list: 1- After being at our table for about 20 minutes, we had to ASK another waitress to clean our table since it hadn't been cleaned when we sat there and our own waitress failed to clean it in between the few times she came to 1) take the drink order 2) bring chips and salsa 3) take the food order (only because we flagged her down and announced that we were ready to order). 2 - She never again asked me if I wanted to order a drink after the one time she asked. I hadn't been ready to order when she asked because I had no time to check out the specialty drinks on the menu and she was taking the drink order when I had returned from washing my hands in the ladies room. 3 - She never brought the salsa we asked for to replace the miniscule container that was paired up with the chips. 4 - She misinformed me when I asked a specific question related to an appetizer and clearly didn't know the difference between shredded or cubed chicken. She should've just asked another worker if she didn't know the answer! 5 - When our Chicken Nachos appetizer for 4 arrived, we had to kindly ASK for appetizer plates and the busboy had a non pleasant attitude and was clearly annoyed when we asked for the 4th plate (because he only brought 3). 6 - We literally got up from our table to grab our own silverware/napkins from the bar to eat the appetizer 7 - We had to clear our own freaking dishes after the appetizer because our table was neglected. (the list goes on) At that point, we all wanted to just pay the bill and exit stage left, right, and center but my friend was still working on her bloody mary so the idea was for her to finish the drink so we could get the hell out but the entrees arrived before she finished her drink and since we were all hungry, we decided to give it a last shot. Big mistake! 8 - The food was awful! My 5 year old nephew could've whipped up something better than that wanna-be carne asada burrito and those fake, bland, non-flavored beans. I barely touched my food! It was a good thing we only ordered two of these nasty entrees to split amongst the 4 of us. NONE OF US enjoyed the food. 9 - She checked on us 1 freaking time the whole entire time we were there and that was only after we got our nasty entrees. 10 - Knowing food service and understanding how important tips are, I was kindly direct with the waitress and explained that we would not be tipping due to the terrible service and informed that I wasn't going to speak with the manager but that I wanted to be honest and address my concerns directly. I didn't want to get the girl in trouble and wanted to give her the benefit of the doubt but she nonchalantly advised me to go ahead and speak to him if I wanted to. She took no accountability nor apologized or attempted in anyway to rectify the situation. Again I had no intention of getting her in trouble, times are tough and I certainly didn't want to jeopardize her job but her indifference about the whole thing made me change my mind and I ended up calling the manager after I left. He was apologetic and appeared genuinely concerned and interested in improving service and even offered us a future discount but I kindly informed that we would NEVER be back. BOTTOM LINE: 4 out of 4 believe Tequila Jack's is a dump and we wouldn't eat there again if they paid us. read more

Group of 15 and the manager seemed very bother we were here to invest and consume. We decided to enjoy the bar while we waited and the bar tender was bother to take extra drink orders. The chicken was dried out like jerky it was also covered in a disgusting red chili salsa that tasted as if they used too much cayenne pepper, the asada was big chunks of over processed meat, and the baja fish taco was ten times as horrible. i had to wait forever because of the crowd and i personally dont understand why they were so crowded. Tequila Jack's ruined my birthday dinner. The plan was to go to the Yard House next door, but we didn't want to wait an hour or more to eat. So my brother suggests we just eat at Tequila Jack's because they don't have a wait. I pointed out that it was suspicious, but I was too hungry to care. At first, everything was great. We ordered a round of mojitos and shared an appetizer sampler. At this point, the service took a nosedive. It took nearly an hour after our appetizer plates were cleared to ORDER our dinner. Our waitress was only interested in asking if people wanted another round. We asked if we could order our food, to which she replied "Yep!" and then took off! So we accosted a busboy, who rudely asked us who our waitress was and then vanished. Finally, our waitress popped back and asked if we wanted dinner. The food was awful. My "carne asada" burrito was in the $12-14 range, and it only contained meat and a few onion slices. There was more tortilla than meat, and the tortilla was chewy. I had to saw at it with my knife. Oh, and the "carne asada" is more like machaca/pot roast meat with zero flavor. It tasted boiled, not grilled. The rice and beans were also flavorless and sparse, though they're spread across the plate to give the illusion of a huge serving. They need to leave the "corn pudding" to El Torito, because, damn. That shit was gross. My mom's $15 steak fajitas came with literally 5 tiny slivers of steak on top of a very modest pile of onions. It was the saddest fajita plate I've ever seen. Also, the tortillas for the fajitas came in a bread basket instead of a tortilla warmer. Ummmm, why? Back to the shitty service. Our waitress insisted on checking everyone's IDs - even my mom and cousin. I only bring this up because it was my birthday and my brother's birthday. The waitress checked our IDs and said happy birthday. Then, after dinner, she asked if we wanted dessert and slapped the bill on the table. Meanwhile, two other tables were getting free flan and a birthday song. Definitely won't be back. Disgusting, bland food and the world's worst waitress put it on my blacklist. They told us to come at 5:30 cuz No Reservations was needed get there at 5:35 and it took us two and a half hours to be seated... Then it was a whole 45 minutes before anyone came to our table to even ask us if we wanted water. By the time they got to us it was going on 8:45 p.m.. they couldn't accommodate all that was included in our party... Their food took a while to get there some of it was cold and their service sucked no one came back for about an hour to check on us or to even see if we had any complaints or. So I was very unsatisfied of the service very unsatisfied of how they dealt with us... Very unsatisfied with the information that we were given that was not accurate. We could not get direct time of when we will be seated and no one even came to check on us offer us anything to drink I want to see where we were located. We had to continue to come in and keep checking with them and they tell us that they were going to text us that text one text saying that we were on the waiting list to be seated... Didn't hear any more from them for two and a half hours later. I had a very bad experience with them service was terrible food wasn't up to par. Amazing!!!!!! Yay!!!! I have been coming to this restaurant since I was a kid. They have never disappointed me. I recently came on a Tuesday which was yesterday and I have to say that they are great. For some reason I always end up coming here on a Tuesday which I think is the best day to come. Be ware that if you come on this day you will be expected to wait for approximately 40 mins, but its totally worth it. The good thing is that you can go to the bar and have a drink outside while you are waiting which some restaurants do not accept that. The bar is so packed this day especially if there is a game on. The environment is great. The service, which I feel so bad that i cannot remember the nice young guy who was our hostess because he was such an amazing person. So fun and outgoing he was a delight and so attentive. He was out on the deck in the evening spooking away a bird maybe he will remember if he reads this lol . The food was perfect. It was served really fast even though there was so much people. When coming here try to get a seat outside because once the sun is setting is such a marvelous view. Tequilla Jacks is a place that we only go once week. That's the day they have dollar tacos. And good margarita specials. I can't speak much on the other food there because I've only had the tacos. But the tacos were awesome. Carne asada, carnitas, fish, and soething else but that's all I get. With a great view of the harbor the location is awesome to sit on the patio and people watch. A great wait staff, they're really on point. Very quick to refill your drinks and chips and salsa. So if your ever on the hunt for a good place for a Tuesday (taco Tuesday) afternoon this a great spot to check out and make your regular hang out. read more

my posse and I had been going to jacks for Taco Tuesday almost religiously. for around 3yrs! We loved it back then.. it was fantastic. The only saving grace were the margaritas. the other downer? was I believe to be the new Manager holding fort on the outside patio MAD DOGGING people sitting @ tables. I have been to their taco Tuesday around 6 times, it's a super awesome deal, everyone is nice. Great atmosphere. You get free chips and salsa while you wait. Their taco Tuesday night does have like a 45min wait on average, I'm assuming their other nights are not nearly so long. It's such a great Tuesday value I just keep coming back! EDIT: I went back on a non-Tuesday. I should mention this is a completely different place on non-Tuesday. There is no wait, it was not super-busy, and an average plate is around $12-13. To start things off I am upset that I even have to rate this establishment a 1-Star. First off, which is really not a complaint, we got to the restaurant and signed-in where they said it was "an hour plus wait." It was Taco Tuesday and Happy Hour for a group of 5, so we all assumed that was how long we were going to wait anywhere so we got some drinks at the bar and waited on the patio. Well, turned a one hour wait turned into two, and then finally when we were all about to say forget it we got called to a table after a two hour and fifteen minute wait time. Then, we got to our table and were helped by the waiter, who was very attentive and probably the only good part of our experience there, he helped us right away and took our orders. As we were all eating chips and salsa I saw a cockroach, YES A HUGE COCKROACH climbing the backing of the opposite side of the bench where my friend was sitting. I told her it was there and all five us sitting in the booth automatically got up in disgust and told the nearest waiter that there was a cockroach in our booth and nobody seemed to care. Everyone just kept going on with what they were doing even when all the tables around us started yelling in disgust as well. Finally, a bus boy comes over and smashes the bug (that is now running around the restaurant floor) and nervously laughs as if it is no big deal and walks away. So here we are all standing around the restaurant waiting for somebody to help us or to take us to another table and we have to ask somebody to please get us a manager so we would not be standing in the restaurant aisles with drinks in-hand waiting for somebody to act like this is not a HUGE health code violation happening and to re-seat us somewhere that does not have cockroaches. Then, a manager finally comes over and says, "Well you know we are right by the water this kind of thing is unavoidable." NO APOLOGY, NO assistance, he just expected for us to get over and sit back down in the booth and when we told him we would not like to sit there anymore he simply said, "Well want do you want me to do about it?" I'm sorry but I work in the food industry and that is not how you handle a situation like this and also not how you address a paying customer. Nevertheless, we were seated at another booth that was far away from the previous and just waited and waited and waited. We did not get new chips and salsa or new waters, and we literally had to send someone from our group to go find someone to serve us. It was like we turned into the table that nobody wanted to deal with. We then asked for a supervisor or manager that was superior to the one that rudely helped us when the whole incident happened. It was a female and she let us know that the meal would be complementary for the experience we had. Well, that was settling news until our food came out and two of the plates (Mini chimichangas and Chicken tenders) we had ordered never came. We let the man that ordered bought the food over know the things that had been missing and he just sort of looked at us like we were annoying him and he did what he brought was our whole order when it clearly wasn't. At this point I was so upset that I just said forget the plates because they let us know they were not entered in so they would need about 15 minutes for them to be ready. Well, that was unfortunate since everyone at the table had already basically finished their food and here I am trying to eat off my boyfriend's plate because mine never came. To top it all off, when my new water finally did arrive (after asking for it TWICE) it had a hair on the rim of it and I let the waiter know upon placing it down on the table. The waiter then looked mortified, grabbed it from the table and ran off. Final Thoughts: I will NEVER go to this establishment ever again in my life. If somebody was to ask me about this restaurant or a nice place to go in Long Beach I would not recommend this to them. I would say you probably have a better chance of good service at McDonalds or Taco Bell. The food that we did receive was good, but nothing can replace the service and experience of a COMPLETE health code violation of having ROACHES hanging around your booths where people are supposed to be eating food. I am upset that I even paid for the drinks that we ordered while we were waiting. I have never been treated like that or had an experience at a restaurant like this in my life. If i could give this place no stars i would. I came in this past Friday night and i really wish we hadn't. I have eaten here plenty of times during taco Tuesday but hadn't had dinner here in a very long time. I should have known something was wrong when our food showed up to our table within 2 minutes. Even the server was in disbelief that the food came out. He said i just put that order in not even two minutes ago. The carne Asada burrito was gross. The meat was old. My rolled taquitos were flavorless and tasted like they had been sitting out for a while. The Cadillac margarita that i asked for with casa nobles was also not good. I seriously don't understand the average 3-star rating. I have been here multiple times over the last few months and always leave happy! First off, their margaritas are cheap. $6.50 for an awesome margarita is a good price in my book. My favorite is the banana. Sure, it is not low calorie, but alcohol calories don't count, right? I've tried a few dishes, and have liked them all. I love their black beans and the little corn pudding dessert. I've had chicken fajitas, chile colorado, steak burrito, etc. Again, all good. Great spot to enjoy the view, a bit pricey for what you get. Had the carnitas sandwich, was was good if you like your sandwich with as little meat as possible! Overall not a bad spot, particularly if you're looking for a spot for out of town friends to enjoy the view ( Which is exactly why I was there) but other wise, not a pick for locals. My friends seemed to enjoy their meals, but they may have just been being polite. While it was OK, I doubt I'll be back any time soon. I've been here twice and both times the service has been very friendly and attentive. The vibe in the place was cool and on a nice day the patio is a beautiful place to sit for the view of the Shoreline Village. Inside is a bit dark. The drinks are pretty good. The fajitas plate was a large serving that could easily feed 2 people. It was delicious but my companion and I were not too crazy about the beans. It may have been the cheese or something mixed in with them that didn't appeal to us. Overall, I had a lovely experience each time and I would be happy to go again read more

So with $10 I will pretty much be set :) The fish tacos are probably not the best I've ever had but for a dollar, it will definitely do the job, and if you are out doing happy hour, what better than to do it for $1. Don't come to this place expecting the authentic Mexican food, it's a quite Americanized (...it's not Tequila Jose). Great atmosphere, great view! This is the place to be on a Tuesday night. The tacos aren't the best, but I come here for the ambiance. It's fun, loud, and very festive. The restaurant is also beautifully decorated and is located right by the shore. For only $1, there is nothing to really complain about. The tacos are huge, and there is a pretty good selection to choose from: baja fish (my favorite), carne asada, carnitas, grilled veggies, or bean and cheese. Their complimentary salsa verde with chips is another thing I enjoy. The chips are so warm and crispy, and the salsa verde definitely has some spicy kick to it. Yum. Drinks on happy hour always add in that extra star. $4 wells/imported beers/wine/margaritas. They also have appetizers that are on their happy hour menu. Best happy hour in town? I think so! It can get quite busy -- even on a Tuesday night. Luckily, this is located right next to Yard House. It was a 35 minute wait for my to friends and me, so we each had a pint of beer at Yard House while we waited. Yes, El Torito is right next to my house... and there are other closer Taco Tuesday places... But this is worth the drive.
