The food was fantastic! We came here on Father's Day. The dining experience is different than what I was expecting. Upon walking in, you order your food, and then find a seat. Agree that the place is kind of small. However, the staff were very accommodating and because there were only tables for 2, and we had 4 people, they helped us rearrange some tables so that we could be seated. We ordered many different items, including tacos (asada, fish), quesabirria, burrito, and torta. My parents LOVED the food. I also really enjoyed it! I would say the asada was cooked and seasoned perfectly--not dry at all. The tacos had a good amount of toppings and felt balanced in terms of taste. The torta was ok and I think it was a lot like the tacos but just with a bun instead. The quesabirria was also ok; I just enjoyed the asada in the taco much more than the meat in the quesabirria. Tequileros Taqueria on Bruceville road is a cute little spot tucked into a small shopping center. We originally thought it was a full-service restaurant with a bar, but it's actually counter service--order and pay first, then they bring your food to your table when it's ready. They don't have their full liquor license yet, so alcohol is limited to beers (mostly a good selection of Mexican beers, plus some champagne-style options). We ordered the carne asada fries, carne asada torta, tacos, and a chicken asada/bean and rice bowl, along with an agave slushy that was delicious. The carne asada fries were really good--loaded with guacamole, sour cream, salsa, and cheese. The only small issue was that the cheese wasn't fully melted on the bottom, but the flavor overall was excellent. The torta was soft, buttery, hearty, and very satisfying. Portions were generous--my friend couldn't finish her chicken bowl because it was a lot of food. They also served chips and salsa, which was a nice touch. Service was quick, the staff were friendly, and although seating inside is limited, it was enough for the time we went (around 3 PM). Many people were ordering takeout. The ambiance of this place is really nice and peaceful, you walk in and they take your order to the right, while if you walk straight there's a bar you can sit at to enjoy a drink. They have a small selection of beer on tap as well. Service is friendly and welcoming, made sure to repeat our order back to us. Overall this is a decently priced and tasty new spot in Elk Grove. I had some complications with ordering online but I'm hopeful it may just be due to it being a newer location. My friend and I placed an order a few hours ahead, for pick up between 7:10-7:20. I then got a text 30 minutes later saying my food was being made and would be ready by 5:40. When I tried to call the restaurant there was a lot of confusion in the communication. After talking with two employees they agreed to print the order for the original pick up time. I arrived to the location at 7:10 but our orders weren't ready until 7:35. Although it was quite a wait our food was fresh and the burrito portions were satisfying. I'd like to dine in next time and see what that experience is like. read more

You order at the counter, to the right of where you enter, and they'll give you a number. The quesabirria tacos were very good/flavorful and served with dipping sauce. I thought the Torta was just so-so; I wouldn't order it again. There isn't a salsa bar (which I always find disappointing when there is any one, since I love salsa). This place was new to us and we quickly discovered the staff friendly and helpful. This restaurant is nicely appointed with lots of seats and tables. Although we only had breakfast burritos, the menu offers many traditional Mexican dishes. Our breakfast burritos were plentiful and full of flavor. Feel free to ad their salsa to step it up a notch. Ever since Tequileros Taquueria has opened in Elk Grove I have become a BIG fan of this place. After 5 consecutive weekly visits I can comfortably say these are my favorite taqueria tacos. I get one each of asada, chicken and pastor,,which all are equally delicious. The meat is tender, seasoned well and they taste great! You can order them with mild or spicy salsa and they are served with a few grilled sweet onion slices, along with a lemon or lime wedge. Unfortunately no tequila based margaritas here but they do have a wine based mango slushy and a variety of beers. Plus Jarritos bottled sodas and along with a soda fountain The servers and cashiers all seem to be young ladies who are normally friendly and helpful. Late post but still a new quick service restaurant in EG however, I have tried food from their food truck. Talked with one of the managers and apparently they have several restaurants in Sac. This restaurant is cozy, clean and modern. May not be ideal for large groups. But they have a bar and at the time, I believe they only had wine and beer. They are open til 10pm...so if ever you're in EG with a late night craving for mexican food, make note. Staff was helpful and friendly. Just opened last week so i took the wife to try it on a Tuesday evening. It's in a strip mall and took the spot of the old Pho Lotus, which has been closed for sometime now. I found a spot just to the side of the business. The place is set up with the ordering counter as you walk in to the right. You order your food to go or dine in. We were dinning in so they give you a number stand to take to your table. Just in front of us was the bar. It had about 6 seats and looked like rows of champagne. They had a few different specialty drinks to get but I didn't have anything today. When we came in there were two people in front of us waiting to order. So not bad but we were in there around 3:40PM. I was worried about the cilantro situation. My wife hates the taste of Cilantro so it really ruins the food for her. Here there is cilantro in almost everything. It is in the salsa, the avocado mix and more so I was not even going to stay here. The worker said that the fish tacos don't have cilantro. The quesadilla could have the sauce on the side. My wife thought this would work. How ever when the asada quesadilla came it had almost no cheese on it and only meat. If there was more cheese on it she would of liked it better. Oh well this place is not for her. The Fish tacos were pretty good and we liked them a lot. They were $9 for two tacos. I got the Quesabirria tacos. I really enjoyed them and the meat had great flavor and the dipping sauce was good. I would get them again. If was so juicy and a real mess eating it. The napkins here were really thin. Not much help I wish they were thicker. I would probably come back but not with my wife. It was ok but it think the food is a little over priced and I can get the same stuff at other places. The service here is really good. I think you have to wonder why they have so many employees. There was a lot of standing around. Not because they were ignoring people. I enjoyed the food from Tequileros when I tried their food truck, so I wasn't expecting anything much different besides having an actual table to sit at. They picked a great spot for their new brick and mortar though. There are plenty of tables inside and even some outside, but we went on a Friday for dinner and the place was definitely packed! It's fast casual style, so you order at the counter before you sit down. It may have been better if they switched the front counter and the bar locations because the counter area gets really crowded when there is a line, and it can get confusing with the people who are just standing waiting for a takeout order. Our food came out pretty quickly despite being pretty busy! I loved the mild green salsa on my loaded carne asada fries. My husband appreciated that they did their breakfast burritos all day long! They had tons of staff working, and they checked on us multiple times even though this isn't a table service restaurant. I'm so glad they have a physical spot now instead of their food truck. It's located next to Golden1 and there's plenty of parking. It looks like a nice spot actually dine in. I'm a busy person, so I usually order take out, but I'm glad I now have the option to eat in. I ordered Carne Asada Fries and of course it was good! I kind of wish the fries were a bit more crispy, because the toppings make the fries a bit soggy. But the flavor is all there! All very good! The ladies working the front were very friendly. Ordered a few things, chicken burrito was alright, the birria tacos were pretty good, the nachos were probably my favorite but the meat was really salty. Tequileros is a contemporary fast casual dine in experience. You order at the front, take your number to a table, and your order is delivered to you. Considering that there are no dedicated food servers, we found the service to be quite attentive. Wait staff constantly roam, the dining floor, checking in with tables for extra orders or simply satisfaction with your meal. The tacos were delicious, as well as the sides of rice and chips and salsa and guacamole. Service was excellent as the employees were friendly, asked if we needed anything after the food arrived, and cleared the dirty dishes. I ordered the Birria Tacos and asada torta. The torta bread wasn't of great quality, but wasn't terrible. Inside, there was asada, cheese, lettuce, tomato, and onions. Came wanting to try the menu in house vs the truck. 1) There is a huge difference in pricing at the physical location vs the food truck. $2.75-$3.75/taco at the food truck vs $4/taco in store. Husband had the fish tacos $9 for two and I had the shrimp and lobster tacos, two for $27 that's like $13/14 each. I was expecting all the fireworks for those tacos. We were sadly disappointed. 2) Tacos were too small. Photo shows the size compared to my hand. Barely any shrimp and lobster on my tacos for that price. 3) The chipotle flavors were there and the sauces were plenty but it didn't make up for the lack of meats. The breaded fish was bland and the pickled veggies on the side didn't make sense. We left feeling like we ate appetizers and not a main course. I probably won't come back to the restaurant but I will still go back to the taco truck. If you're a fan of the carne fries, nachos, or burritos then you'll like this spot just don't bother with the tacos. read more

Pricier through there than online, and pricier online than in person ordering. Parking is somewhat hectic at this area of the plaza. We really liked the nachos in terms of flavor and portion. Easily 10/10 for the flavor, spice, and generous portion of meat. Loved the side of cebolla, jalapeño, and sliced radishes. We also ordered an ice cold horchata that topped off the whole meal. The neon signage made the place stand out, making the evening feel bright and alive. Very instagrammable. Perfect for friends to grab a bite, family, and even a date night. Our new go to spot for tacos. ***UPDATE*** We returned again last night, back to back visits, and tried some new items- carne asada burrito and fish tacos. We re-ordered chicken cheese tacos because it was a hit with our toddler the first time. Quality and taste of ingredients another 10/10. The fish was perfectly fried and the cabbage slaw gave a nice balanced crunch with the spicy sauce. Tequileros Taqueria finally opened up a location in Elk Grove. I went to their grand opening today and snagged some $2 tacos of carne asada and al pastor. Food quality is what you would expect. So good. I loved their food truck on the 99, and this will be a lot closer for my weekly splurge. Even though they were extremely busy for their opening, service was fast. My food was ready to go in about 15-20 mins. The carne asada tacos are still my favorite. But their al pastor was also delicious. I see that they have an updated menu for this location, but I haven't yet sampled their new tacos. I'm definitely interested. They also have a brunch menu, so that's even more promising. They did a great job with the decor. This looks like a solid place for a taqueria. Everything seemed new and modern. I can't wait to come back and try additional items. read more

They did not disappoint. 8/10 I ordered to go this time, but I'm already planning to dine in on my next visit. The interior is absolutely adorable such a cute and inviting space just layout to the other side was in the cut - werid but doable! I wish I had read the reviews before ordering the fish tacos today. One reviewer mentioned that the fish was about the size of a McDonald's chicken nugget, and that description could not have been more accurate. Today was actually my third visit to this restaurant. My first visit was shortly after they opened, and unfortunately, it was a huge disappointment. I ordered near closing time, and the food was terrible. The asada burrito and quesadilla were so greasy that we ended up throwing them away. It felt like a complete waste of $40. On my second visit, I decided to give them another chance and ordered a breakfast burrito. It was actually very good, which gave me hope that my first experience had just been an off day. Unfortunately, my third visit left me disappointed once again. Not only were the fish tacos extremely small, but they also lacked flavor.
