I walked past a better-known ramen spot to try this place as the website images looked great. I ordered tack out. One order of spring rolls, and passing on a tried and true Pad Thai, an order of red curry. I asked for the "mild" spice level as one diner's "mild" is another's "spicy." I ate the rolls on a bench, unable to wait the walk home. The spring rolls were consistently crisp, and the dipping sauce was the color of light honey and pleasantly sweet and sour. The red curry with tofu, spooned over sticky white rice, was delightfully light and silky with a subtle but significant kick of flavor. I wouldn't want it any spicier for my first order, instead enjoying the large pieces of tofu and firm crunchy peppers and carrots. This place isn't in my neighborhood, but on a sunny day, I'll def walk over to get a meal - and try some other dishes. Service was fast and friendly, and the decor and music were inviting. thai hot box was really an awesome experience. i like the decor. i ordered the fried calamari as an appetizer before realizing there is a lunch special. I got the coconut curry with chicken which came with rice and a side salad. it was delicious and filling. I didn't finish my lunch and asked for a soup container to take it. the server packed my food in a regular to go container without the red curry broth. oh well. lol i was really look forward to making more rice at home and enjoying the rest. i hope they don't reuse the broth i was just eating. oh well. i will definitely return if i happen to be in the upper east side. read more

The hot sauce with the fried tofu was pretty hot (for me), but the tofu was great. The calamari was also tasty-would recommend. I ended up with a safe choice of pad see ew, and I actually finished the whole plate. Usually, it's too heavy at other places but it wasn't as sauced here. I try to account the neighborhood and the fact that we are in a pandemic , i would still say its a little to expensive. without ordering from their lunch special menu (11:30-3:30 PM ) i could be paying a good $15-$17 bucks for Rice and veggies (NO meat).
