Food was pretty good - definitely coming back to try more. More on the expensive side (~ $70 for two burgers with a cocktail and beer) but there's a variety of options. Service was ok - sat ourselves (sign by front states so) but within 5 minutes no one came to the table so we moved to the bar top. Staff doesn't have a cohesive look but we did see the cook bring out plates personally which was a nice touch. Inside is nice, "modern industrial" and looks clean. Located in Vintage Park! I found this place by searching vegan and vegetarian options. As soon as I saw the menu, I called up my son and daughter-in-law for happy hour. AMAZING!! Stopped in for a late/quick lunch. I had the hurricane shrimp and a strawberry mojito. The shrimp were good. The sauce adds the perfect finishing flavor and the greens offset the spice well. The shrimp is large and 5 filled me enough to get through to dinner. The bartender was friendly and attentive. This place has a great ambiance and I definitely want to try some other menu options. Well this wasn't quite what I was expecting. I had so much trouble deciding what I wanted and didn't see anything that looked wow. I just ordered the wings since I figured they couldn't mess that up. Turns out, they actually did mess up my order. The wings are $2 ea, so priced fairly high. Much higher than the wings I had the previous week at a Chinese restaurant which ended up tasting better. I have visited many restaurants in Vintage Park, but had not tried this place, so me and a friend decided to give it a go. What drew me into this place was very diverse menu options and the prices are very reasonable. The portions that they give, you are very substantial and the food quality was good as well. I'm disappointed and really wanted to like this place as it's difficult to find a place with good vegan options. I placed my order for pickup over the phone and Jessica was kind and helpful. Even with me double checking that each item I ordered was vegan, customer service was still great. I arrived and my order was ready in about 10 minutes. There's maybe two other customers sitting at the bar. My order is walked out to me and I don't think to check it before I leave because how could they mess up probably the only order being prepared at the time. I ordered the chicken fried seitan which comes with mashed potatoes, roasted corn, and toast. So I make it home and my mashed potatoes are no where to be found. I would never eat chicken fried chicken/steak without mashed potatoes so surely I can't eat the seitan without it. I call back and Jessica apologizes and confirms that it was assumed the gravy was the potatoes and she offered me options to remedy the situation. I opted for a credit back to my card because I didn't want to journey back for the potatoes. I'm glad I chose that option because the chicken fried seitan was absolutely flavorless! I couldn't eat any more than two bites because it was like eating...nothing. I couldn't get past the texture. It was like eating a rubber sponge. I'm not one of those vegans that desires meat substitutes, but I read some reviews on a different app and decided I would make it a cheat meal. So disappointed. The batter was crispy and had potential, but I definitely wouldn't order it again. The corn on the cob was pretty good and had a good flavor with just the right amount of crunch to it. I also ordered a side of tater tots just to knock out this craving I had been having. Sigh. They were pretty salty and no crunch to them at all. Way too soft for decent tater tots. Me and my wife sat at the bar on a Sunday for a Texan game. They had a wing special, so I opted for that. My wife ordered loaded fires. The chicken wings were good, and the loaded fries were also fine. The three stars came from how long it took for our order to be accepted and arrive. First it was a Monday night and there were about 3 customers sitting at the bar and one table with customers inside. It took forever for us to be waited on.... The bar tender saw us several times and then finally tried to find our server. The server was friendly but the service was extremely slow. We ordered some fried pickles for an appetizer and they came out hot but soaked in oil. I ordered the boneless wings and they were over cooked, greasy and lacked any flavor and for the first time ever I did not eat all my chicken. It then took a long time to get our check and to get out of there. Like I said - May have been the wrong night to go because they always say that the slower a restaurant the worse the service gets. My family and I have been there several times and we have Been requesting Elyssa to wait on us because she always picks out the best place possible to sit for us, which usually includes small children and our occasional out of town guests. She gets our drink orders right away and follows up with refills as she notices the glasses are getting low. Her experience as a bartender produces just the right combinations for the adults and suggests suitable beverages for all. Elyssa is a good listener in her role as a server and checks everything from the kitchen to make sure the food is Satisfactory to each of us and delivers it to us in a timely manner. This place has a lot of potential. We went about 4 weeks after they opened, and I think there are a few kinks to work out. I will be back and hope to be able to add the 5th star next time. The atmosphere was great. We went to watch an Astros game and there were TVs everywhere. It was loud but not so loud we couldn't have a conversation at our table. The service is amazing, and is the main reason I rounded up to 4 stars. Our server seemed to care that we had a positive experience and did everything he could to address any issues, and that goes a long way for me. The menu was also exciting. As a vegetarian, I was thrilled to find a place that my meat loving husband and friends could enjoy but that had many options for me too. There are a number of items on the menu I'd like to try. The Cactus Juice (mixed drink) was really good, and they had a good selection of beers. We started with a giant appetizer that came with cauliflower bites, fried pickles, mozzarella sticks, carrots, celery, and chips and salsa. It took a long time to come out but was also a lot of food. Our group of 4 couldn't finish it. It was all great but the cauliflower bites and pickles were my favorite. They made several mistakes with our main dishes. Two of four came out correctly. I ordered the Seitan fried steak and a friend ordered the Texas cheese steak. They brought out 2 versions of the "fried steak" and there was some confusion about which was real meat and which was seitan, but a manager sorted it out. The seitan was good but could have been crispier and more flavorful. I'd like to try some of the other veggie options next time. I really liked the corn and mashed potatoes that came with it. Our friend's cheese steak came out next. The menu said it was cheese steak served "on" a baguette and that is literally how it was served - on a cold baguette that wasn't cut open into a sandwich. Our server apologized for what appeared to be a kitchen error (I think this is just an early "kink" to work out) and they let him order something else, which was very nice. I felt like they made up for any errors and we appreciated that. We will be back! read more

Walked in and were warmly greeted. Open concept felt like a bar from the get go. We ordered a glass of wine and a beer both of which were flavorful and service was quick. The menu is inviting with some VERY creative ideas. The server wasn't familiar with the menu and when she asked for assistance, no one else knew the menu either. We ordered, and then the idea of "creativity" appeared. Needless to say hugely disappointed. The Carnivore Board has a salad offering stacked in the middle with some sliced/cubed cheese and black olive slices. Huh? Meats were sparse and NOTHING in the way of crackers, hummus, mustard, pita to enjoy the dish. We enjoyed the rest of our drinks and went next door to Moe's. read more

I tried out the TX tenders (garlic Parmesan and lemon pepper) and the portions were great for the price. I usually don't leave many reviews to new places but the left such a great impression that I felt obligated to do so! My only grip is that I wish they stayed open longer but I understand why! It goes to show that you shouldn't judge a place solely by the reviews because they're not always accurate for your own experience. The food was amazing! And, their portions are huge! I am vegetarian and I was impressed by the amount of vegetarian/vegan options they carry. It's very rare to see these many vegetarian/vegan options at a restaurant in Texas. I currently live in Minneapolis, and that's a norm there (blue state vibes), but I was excited to see The Annex cater towards vegetarians and vegans. I can't comment on the drinks as I was drinking Dos Equis on draft. (I don't normally order drinks at restaurants because they're usually weak.) Our waitress was great, too. This is a tough one. I've been here once and we ate on the patio. The food was good but our server wasn't friendly. I am a very friendly person and tried my best to break through, but she wasn't having it, so I gave up. A bad server can really ruin meal, so that attitude was a bummer. The second time, my son went in to pick up a takeout order. On his way out he noticed a sign that said something derogatory about people who voted for Biden. I thought maybe he misread it until I recently got onto one of my FB Foodie groups and saw that a bunch of people were talking about it and one shared a photo. Obviously everyone is entitled to their own opinions, but it's an interesting business choice to basically call a good percentage of your customers idiots. I just read a review on here that mentioned the same sign and the owner's response to that customer's review was so obnoxious that I wondered if maybe he was drunk when he wrote it, or if he just cares more about trying to "trigger" people (as he said) than he does about having the kind of business where all people will feel welcome and comfortable. There are definitely some emotional issues going on here since the owner is actively trying to make people angry. Honestly, the sign didn't make me angry at all. I just thought it was a sad attempt to anger one side and get his butt kissed by the other. I think maybe he confuses anger and pity. I was disheartened to see the owner's response to that other reviewer. The anger and unprofessionalism he displayed was that of a playground bully. I guess it wasn't enough to have this sign up. That seems like it was only stage one. Stage two seems to be to get on yelp and berate the customers that he mistakenly thinks he "triggered." It's just so embarrassing. Not only for him, but for the reputation of this business. A business which would probably get a lot more customers if these stories weren't making the rounds. Even people in the foodie groups who agree with the owner's politics are saying this is divisive and ridiculous. Sometimes it's best to just put on your big boy pants, act like a professional business owner/adult, be nice to EVERYONE whose money supports you, and bite your tongue. Select of food is decent, kinda pub-Americana with mexi inspiration. Some friends of ours came in and sat with their family. The waiter took our order. He came back (after taking our friends order) to tell us he threw away our order he wrote down before entering it in. This was at least 8-10 mins after we placed it!! Nonetheless our food finally arrived. It was kinda ahh. Not overly tasty, but nothing to write home about. The place wasn't real busy but it seemed loud for a Sunday afternoon.
