It was my first time, and I have nothing but positive things to say about The Blue Hole. My dad grew up in Belize, and he said the food is 100% authentic and exactly like what he ate as a kid. I highly recommend getting the Sampler Platter and the Stew Chicken. The food is just. SO. Good. I was in heaven. We definitely will be coming back here regularly to try everything else on the menu. Service was amazing. Our server, Sinclair, was wonderful and very attentive. The owner came and chatted with us for a bit when he learned about my dad. I got the jerk chicken with rice and beans and plantain. It was good. I think I prefer their stew chicken plate but I wanted to try something new. Their coconut tarts are yummy and the panades were my favorite. Just *chefs kiss*, perfection. I love what they have done with the place after new ownership. It feels very open, spacious and relaxed. The young man working up front was so kind and the man who came out later to check on us (not sure if he was the new owner?) was really welcoming and friendly as well. All around, just a great vibe. Really delicious Caribbean spot with friendly staff. Shared the appetizer platter with a friend - the ganaches were a standout but everything was tasty. For the entree, I got the stew chicken which was so savory. The rice and beans were great, I'd dip them in the stew sauce as I ate them. Potato salad was very good. Was coming here for years, even before the name change. Supported during pandemic, also reopening. I don't like how they initially acted as if they reimburse me for their mistake of giving my som fish panades in his beans when they know he's allergic. I came here on Friday ordered and took it home. I ordered jerk chicken and a chicken tamale. Let me say the food was soo good and it was a lot I finished the rest the next day. I've gotten jerk chicken from ocho Rios and I didn't ever order there again. It was sooo spicy I couldn't eat it so it kinda ruined the jerk chicken experience for me. But this place was soo good it was spicy but not too much where you can't enjoy the taste. I'm definitely coming back my husband also got the dark bun and he really enjoyed it . He said it took him back to his childhood when his grandma would make it and put butter on it . He said he's going back for sure. This is a really nice place and the people were so friendly!!!!! I have been coming for yesterday. Im glad to see that they are still in business. As I walked in I felt that it was nicely decorated. I would recommend that they paint the chairs and tables white for that Caribbean feel. The dark color of the table and chairs is too contemporary for the space . As I ordered the food I have to say the new manager gave me great customer service . Have to say a pleasant voice and a great smile goes along way. Now, as for the food I have to say I'm disappointed in the Panades, I felt that it was too small and it didn't have the wow factor. I recommend after frying it to put on paper towel to get rid of the oil. It was very Greese. Next, The pigtail I would have to say is extremely salty I had to actually wash it off because it was so salty in order to eat it. The price was very high for the amount on my plate. I have also tried in the past to Stew Chicken I have to say that it was overcooked and extremely salty and they was so much gravy that I could barely see the pieces of my chicken. The Desserts did not disappoint. Keep it coming, as for the Creole Bun Well done keep your baker they are an asset to your business. Hopefully owners or owner you take note, to some of these advice. I'm just so confused by these hours. They don't open until 11:30 everyday but close at 6:30pm everyday. Who are they expecting to serve here. This seems like a place only open for lunch. How is anyone supposed to eat here who works a regular job and gets off at 6:00pm and they aren't even really open for you to at least get a nice belizean breakfast since they don't open until 11:30. We tried this place on our way to a football game. Can I just say.... it was delicious. You can really taste the Belizean authenticity in their food. The meats were tender and juicy. Nothing was really dry or bland, lots of spices. My husband really enjoyed his oxtail plate. The plate was a bit different from what he was used to but he still loved it. We also ordered jerk chicken for the kids and they totally loved it as well. Their desserts are also good. We tried the bread pudding. A little pricey but with prices going up everywhere, we totally understand. I don't know if he was the owner or manager but he was super friendly and attentive with us. A real nice gentleman. Unfortunately, the staff was rude. I had to say hello a few times before receiving a greeting back. I was initially going to order to go. But I looked around at a nearly empty restaurant and decided it may be nice to dine in. The waitress walked me over to a table RIGHT Next to a customer already eating. Because covid 19 is still a very real thing, I requested to sit at a table over from the eating customer. Welp, the waitress, said, nope, you can't sit anywhere else. I was baffled because there were soooo many empty seats, and I was only a party of two. I took my overpriced food to go. It was dry out overcooked stew chicken. Needless to say, I won't return.
