Our first time visiting The Claw House at Murrells Inlet--and wow, thIs just became my favorite spot in this quaint, relaxed town just a short drive from bustling Myrtle Beach! The restaurant is just beautiful! Large inside area with a beautiful bar and mesmerizing tropical fish tanks. Gorgeous covered/enclosed patio, plus an outside patio that leads into a super fun beer garden along the water! The service was just great and the food was plentiful and delicious!!! We had the lobster roll and fish bites. Both were huge and perfectly cooked! The fish bites are an appetizer but a heaping portion. I also ordered a few oysters from the raw bar and they were delicious. I really wanted the crab nachos and luckily the table next to us ordered and they were gigantic and just covered with crab! I sadly don't have a photo of those! I got Catfished by The Claw House! So prior to our trip to MB, I did my research and The Claw House was at the top of my list. They intrigued me solely based on some pics I had seen of the Grilled Seafood platter. The food looked seasoned to perfection and just food porn! Our server was nice and kept checking on us and I think her kindness was the only thing that kept me from complaining about the food. We ordered the crab cake poppers as an app, they were just okay. I prefer Maryland-style crab cakes over any other crab cake! The sauce helped make them a bit better, but they lacked a little in the flavor department without the sauce. My wife also was suckered in by the beautiful pics of the Grilled Seafood Platter so she ordered it as well. When we got our food, it looked really good. But after several bites, we figured out that our taste buds had been bamboozled! The fish, shrimp, and scallops had zero flavor. We could've gone to the Piggly Wiggly and purchased fish sticks made with more love. The only saving grace was the tartar sauce. If we didn't have that, it would've been like eating imaginary food. At one point I thought I had Covid based on the lack of flavor in my food! The coleslaw and mashed potatoes were the only reassurance that I didn't have Covid. For the fries I think the top must have come off the salt shaker while they were salting them.... I didn't count, but I think there were about 10 french fries on my plate. I feel like I could've gotten this same meal at Long John Silvers for $6.00 and it at LEAST would have had some flavor! My wife had the crab cake sandwich, which she said was good. DRINKS? Even if the wait is long...stay! We have been here 5 times and it seems they always quote you a longer time than what you wait. We were quoted 25 minutes for 4 people around 6:15, and we waited less than 10. We got a great seat outside under the covered roof. We ordered the tuna nachos. They were really good...maybe not as good though as last year. I ordered, along with my husband, the hot lobster roll. The lobster was dreamworthy, but the buns were both a little burnt. I enjoyed the Claw House. We had a group of 7 and 5 people loved their meals, 1 liked theirs and 1 ordered a well done steak so can they be trusted :) Their oyster selection was good that night (3 choices and we got them all). They were all East Coast, my preference. The calamari app was okay at best, hard to screw up fried calamari but they tried. The ceviche was more like chopped avocado in a glass with some pieces of fish thrown in, not great. The drinks were well made and plentiful to choose from. The beer selection was top notch and they brought up beers from the beer garden as well. Great move. My only complaint about the drinks and beer is the fact they were served in plastic cups. I get it, its a beach town and this place is on the inlet, but we ate inside and the prices were upscale. Can I have a glass please. The entrees were good, especially the ones I tasted, including the Bacon Jam scallops and the Fisherman's Platter (not fried). Three of us came here for dinner on a Sunday a little before 6pm. We were seated immediately. Our server was polite and friendly. She answered any questions we had and checked in on us frequently. We started with the Pretzel Bites appetizer (locally rolled) served with queso cheese and mustard. They looked burnt, but they weren't. They were delicious! The thick sea salt paired perfectly. The fish was absolutely not Cod. You may be able to fool some people into thinking that you served Cod but you can't fool a person from Massachusetts. My Dad and Uncle's used catch Cod. And this was NOT Cod. I'm not sure why I gave this place a 2 but will certainly never come back and would not recommend (this was my 3rd visit here and it failed all 3 times. I did let the waitress know i knew it wasn't Cod (she didn't seem to notice I only took one bite). She came back with the bill and said "I was able to discount your tacos and fries by 15%. We Ordered takeout from here and it was good . The packaging was well executed and the inside of the restaurant was nicely decorated . Online ordering kept booting us out so we ended up calling to order which was fine. They had us pay by credit card over the phone . We ordered the raw bar sampler for $60 and the crab and shrimp wrap and raw shrimp was amazing ! The tuna ceviche and oysters were good but not the best I've ever had . Raw Clams I have never had before but I must say I don't care for them . I suppose I can't accurately judge the raw clams . My husband and I split the cod tacos and raw sampler and it was enough food for us . The kids had Mac n cheese and liked their meals. The dessert would be a skip for me next time . Came here on a Saturday night and everything we wanted to order for dinner they were "sold out of"... supposedly. They were: a simple side of grits, filet mignon, Cajun red snapper, and braised short ribs. They were also not very accommodating on substitutions to dishes, like removing the sausage or adding a side of Demi glaze that normally comes with the filet mignon, for the sirloin. The waitress passive aggressively implied that we came to the wrong restaurant because they are in a fish town. My husband didn't want seafood and I was so badly craving grits as a side to my meal, but they were out of everything we wanted. The waitress seemed severely unhappy to be working and was rushing us because her shift was almost over, then they sat another table and gave it to her and she began slamming things while stocking the tables throughout the restaurant. Her name started with "B". She also never checked if our meal was good and gave me a devil stare when I grabbed her attention and asked for a side of Demi glaze for my husbands sirloin that he felt was dry, and no steak sauce or anything was offered with it. I ended up settling on the salmon, and I will say, aside from the chili glaze it came with that was probably from a bottle, it was the best cooked salmon I've ever had. The texture of the fish was perfect. The atmosphere is beautiful, high wooden ceilings, there's an aquarium like fish tank and lots of hanging decor from the ceilings, it creates a nice ambiance. When it was time for the bill, the waitress came by with a very small handheld digital screen display that showed an itemized receipt. She held it in the air with a wobbly hand and didn't put it down for us to view, said "looks good?" And then swiped to the payment screen. The first thing that popped up was the tip screen and there were preset "numbers" to tap for the tip as if it was a video game and not currency. My husband and I always like to discuss the tip once the check comes, we also like to round up our total bill. It was very awkward discussing this in front of her and having to do math while she stood there impatiently to round the tip up. The waitress should not be able to hover over you while you are viewing your charges and discussing their tip. She shouldn't be slamming things in the restaurant either. We always tip even when we have a negative experience. We like to know we are the ones deciding what we will be giving our server not a randomized tap screen button that acts like our hard earned dollar means nothing. There was a bartender there, and he was very sweet and truly cared about his job and the establishment. His name started with a "P" and I just wanted to give him a shout out because people like him deserve praise. Also Chris was working very hard to make sure things were running smoothly and was cleaning up and stocking the restaurant. I did eat the meal, didn't send it back. My wife's meal fisherman's platter was good, and she enjoyed her meal. We ate out on the deck nice ambiance. We heard good things about this place from my husband's cousin and all went together for an adult night out. There isn't much room to sit while you are waiting but we were able to get some seats at the bar and ordered some drinks and appetizers. The crab nachos were delicious! The wonton chips were a nice twist and crunchier toward the end than a regular chip would have been. The queso was also really good, it was nice we ordered the pretzel bites with the nachos because we had some leftover cheese to pour onto the remaining chips. The best part about the nachos besides the amazing taste and flavor was that they actually stack the toppings in between the layers of nachos instead of putting a huge stack of chips on a plate and pouring everything over the top so you don't get an even amount of cheese and toppings on each chip which I find really annoying. These were almost perfect. I liked the pretzel bites but was more interested in the crab nachos and could have just eaten that for dinner if I didn't have to share them ha! As it was, I ate most of them and shared the cod, shrimp and scallops with my husband. The fish was light and tasty, the shrimp was good and the scallops were perfectly browned and had good flavor. We did not get dessert because we were going to go to ice cream afterward but the food was fantastic. I would definitely come back again and recommend it if you like seafood. If you're a crab person and are not a huge fan of pulling out the meat from their skinny legs, those nachos are amazing. If I go back I want to try the crab cakes. The menu sounds great with cool options to choose from! They also have ur basic seafood options like fried seafood and seafood boil. I got the lobster rolls and the neat thing is that I couldn't choose if I wanted hot or cold lobster rolls so there was an option to get both! We started out with raw oysters and muscles and let me tell you, they were so fresh! The muscles were my parents favorite Bc it was in a flavorful sauce and had a nice spice to it. They have a bunch of beer options and some cocktails. I'll be honest I didn't love the cocktails they were weak and tasted as if it was made from premixed juice. Food was mid. Very touristy place and the food tasted like what's you'd expect from a tourist spot. There was nothing wrong with any of our meals, but there was nothing good about them either. We came after reading so many good reviews here and on Reddit and we were very underwhelmed. Service was fine. The crab claw appetizer was probably my favorite part of our meal. Their oysters were not flavorful at all- you can get better oysters at a hundred other places here. I got the grouper stack, the crab cake wasn't good and the grouper was very bland. My husbands pan seared grouper was also just bland and not great. My daughter got the filet and when asked how she was enjoying it, she said "it tastes like.... a steak."
