This is the worst restaurant(if it could be called a restaurant) I have ever been in Boston. Actually not the food was bad but the service. Waited longer than an hour and that did not mean that we were not patient. Just in terms of the efficiency of staff. The restaurant is too small and few staff, 3 probably. Across from Mike's Pastry is another Italian gold mine. This place is TINY. There's space for around 8 parties of around 3 so don't expect a lot of elbow space. Seat yourself and check out the simple chalkboard menu on the wall. My visit was a random weekday afternoon during a snow storm so luckily there was no wait. The cook greeted us and we ordered by yelling to him across the table, which I didn't mind too much. We got a serving of bread to hold off the hunger, while our shrimp scampi order was being cooked up right in front of us. The whole time I was watching the cook all I could think was "wow this feels like I'm in his house". He had a personal conversation with his co-worker, in the meantime all I saw was steam and flames coming from the stove. It took about 10 minutes to get our dish, which came as is off the stove. The pasta was the best I've ever had as it was cooked al dente. The rest of the dish was so well blended and delicious that I regretted sharing it with my friend. We saved our bread to scrape up the residual sauce from the pan. I will definitely come back here to try their blank ink pasta dishes and update my review. But from my first experience I can't imagine anything here being bad. read more

The Daily Catch is amazing. They don't take reservations but we waited only about half an hour for a table for two. The homemade pasta with calamari was AMAZING as was the Sicilian Littlenecks. The wine comes in plastic cups, and the atmosphere is very chill. I like the small size of the place, and that they don't pretend to be authentic with their staff (the cook that night was Asian, and there was one waiter and a dishwasher). read more

While the food was great, the service was horrible. We came here to enjoy a nice meal before attending the Celtics game over at TD Garden. Firstly, the server with very short hair was just straight up rude. While in a job where customer service is most important, this man does not know how to treat customers. We weren't that hungry and decided to share an entree and an appetizer, and after we ordered, we heard him talking to the chef and said "who comes to a restaurant and orders an appetizer and an entree." I was really taken aback by this comment because while we were ordering, the server could've just told us to order another entree instead of rudely saying these things about us. Great fresh seafood and pasta. Got the swordfish in balsamic glaze. With a side of pasta Delicious! My friend got the shrimp and scallop with broccoli over pasta and said it was outstanding! Should add we got the fried calamari appetizer and I have to say it was the best calamari I have had. All in all we had a great lunch, prices are a little steep but quality of food was very good so tuff to complain about the above average pricing. Worth the visit if you are in the area. Here is my experience: 1) Long waiting--1 hour. 2) Poor hygiene-- 3 people worked in this place: a chef, a person taking order, and a person washing dishes and doing all other stuffs. Because it is opened kitchen, we can see everything happened in the kitchen. I was very concerned about the hygiene there. The dishes were barely washed, and the person in charge with dishes also cut bread and bring bread to our table with his hand. YES, he saw we ran out of bread, so he grasped bread with his hand, and put in to basket on our table. The chef was constantly eating when he was cooking (I wondered if he ate our fish). 3) Food quality was not good-- ink pasta was ok, but nothing in the pasta beside garlic and onion. Fried squid plate should have some squid, fish, and fries. We got one piece of fish--thumb size. Two dishes including tip were about $50. It is totally a waste of time and money. Just a word to the wise...read the menu carefully.... we got overcharged for everything we ordered and pretty much swindled into a lobster fradiavolo at $74. It tasted good but definitely not what we wanted. Very unfortunate experience especially because we trusted the help of our server chris. $135 lunch? I have been in Boston area temporarily for work since October. Went to the Seaport location. Food was fresh, but perhaps we didn't order the right things. For $24 you get a piece of haddock fish, ala carte, so nothing else with it. It may be fresh, but that's expensive for one piece of fish. Side of asparagus about $8. Appetizers also expensive, I actually just got the shrimp scampi for my meal appetizer), $20 for 6 shrimp. So, perhaps order better, but regardless this place is expensive. Probably some better seafood places in the area that you can get better for your money. read more

Okay, this is close to the definition of "hole in the wall" as I have eaten in in a long time. We arrived during a rainstorm at about 2:30 PM on a weekday and were able to get seated quickly...the only hard part was finding a parking spot. I ordered the baked clams, and the linguine with white clam sauce. Never thought I'd say this, but I thought it was better than any I had ever eaten in Brooklyn, NY, where I grew up...and that's saying something. My daughter had their signature squid ink pasta with ground calamari...quite excellent. While the seating is incredibly uncomfortable, the waiter was very good and made sure we were taken care of, and they even have a small, but respectable wine list. I will return. read more

I went to the one in the north end with my sister and my then baby in a stroller - the stroller didn't fit in the restaurant but the staff worked around it and helped me to get the stroller to fit (She was asleep during the meal so couldn't be taken out). This WAS one of my favorite restaurants in Boston. Not anymore. The new staff is awful. The big fat, loud, sweaty rude chef is not as good as the previous one. He's also slower due to him walking outside for a break after every 2-4 dishes made. The old woman waiter is rude and totally clueless. It's a small restaurant and the previous staff were good about optimizing seating to minimize wait times. The old woman doesn't attempt to minimize unused seats at all. I used to always make custom orders that were pretty simple. The old lady was totally confused by my order and got it wrong. In short, please hire new staff or those long waits people endure for a table wont last. read more

I rarely write negative reviews. Majority of my reviews are 4-5 stars. Warning! Do not bring a date here or if celebrating a happy occasion. I have been to the other locations and have had positive experiences. We started out by waiting in line for an hour. You cannot make reservations this is not some fancy huge restaurant. Finally, getting to the front of the line we see a small sign on the inside stating they only take cash. Well ok that is not a big deal, so my husband went to an ATM while I waited for our turn to be seated. A table for 2 is available, I tried to explain to the waiter that my husband is 2 steps away getting cash. He yells at me and tells me not to argue with him and gave our table to the next costumer. Most people would have left, but I waited a long time in line so I wasn't going to let this guy affect me. We finally got seated and we were just happy to finally eat dinner. This same pudgy and short waiter by the name of SEBASTIAN comes up to us again and half ass apologizes blah blah blah. He proceeds to take our orders but we had a few questions, not even 20 seconds into the order he starts yelling at us. He tells us he needs to move along and we are taking way too much of his very important time. Anyways, the food was good, but I didn't take it personal because I could tell many of the other costumers were not happy with him either. I am pretty sure he thinks he is so cool, like "Yeah I can yell at these costumers and these idiots are still lining up and waiting to get into this restaurant" If he reads this he will probably be so proud of himself. He probably has nothing else going for him. Anyways, do not go to this location!!! This place is probably managed by a bunch of high school dropouts if this is the kind of service that is considered acceptable. read more

The only thing going for this restaurant is the view. First, we waited for an hour. We had to remind them we were there, 3 times! The worst part of our evening really, was our server. Absolutely no personality, no name, no greeting, really bad. We were a party of 6. We waited 10 minutes to be noticed. Then she walked up and said " would you like drinks?" Me and my dad walk in for a dinner before a Bruins game on a Wednesday night with absolutely no one in the restaurant. We get seated at a less than desirable table and ask to move. Rather than granting our request we are told we have to remain there or risk being moved for other parties WHILE we are in the middle of our meal. The place feels like home and fondly reminded me of my family's meals growing up where everyone squeezed around the table in our tiny kitchen, slurping pasta, and dipping bread in sauce, chitchatting with everyone around. I left The Daily Catch smelling like garlic and wine for the remainder of the day, a perfume someone ought to bottle up so I can wear it everyday. Crab cakes and a caprese salad as an app, lobster & gnocchi special entree for me, swordfish special for my husband. I very much enjoyed my meal but felt the lobster was a tad too gamey. Then again, I'm not huge on lobster, just felt adventurous that night. I didn't love my husbands swordfish. It was a little dry. The risotto cake that came with his meal was great however. But we both felt it overshadowed his fish, instead of complimenting it. Don't get me wrong, all on all food was delicious, I'm just not 100% sure I really *need* to go back. Warning: CASH ONLY!! Being cash only, I normally would dock stars. However, this place gets away it. They also get away with wine in plastic cups. "Why?" you ask? Because this place is the freaking BOMB. Paying in cash and wine in plastic cups ends up adding to the charm of this tiny, cozy restaurant where you watch the chef cook the food in a super fast pace with mad skills that leaves you in awe. We (my spouse and I) lucked out and stumbled in here during lunch on a Friday when there was no line. We ordered the clams casino, which consists of a clam shell stuffed with clearly the freshest, most perfectly cooked clam mix, lightly breaded and baked. We had no idea when we entered the Daily Catch that we had entered the gates of Sicilian food heaven. Then, we shared the clam linguine pasta with white sauce... and HOLY FREAKING MOLY!! This is hands down the BEST clam pasta I have ever had! I told the chef how much I loved it, and this restaurant is so small that other customers heard me tell him how it blew my other favorite clam pasta (which I had in 2002 in Washington, DC at a restaurant that no longer exists) out of the water, and everyone clapped for him- because frankly, he deserves it. Our server was phenomenal and very friendly (I feel like his name is Mike, or he just looks like a Mike to me) and let me taste a couple of wines before pouring my choice - a dry Italian rose- into my plastic cup. And never have I enjoyed wine out of a plastic cup so much. The Daily Catch left me craving more food and I cannot wait to go back! (Another note, we have young kids... I would not bring them here due to space constraints.) Bravo, Daily Catch! I wish I lived in the North End because I would eat here all the time! This was my first time here. First off the ONLY TAKE CASH!!! Now that we that out of the way, let's begin the review. The place sits 20 people. So don't be a large group. People I've been told, wait an hour in a line outside the door. The menu is on the wall and there are only 3 people that work there. The chef, the server an the dish washer. They are fast. It isn't fancy but it is clean. I had the squid linguini puttanesca and it was slightly too salty for me. Otherwise very good. Hubby had scallops linguini with white wine sauce. It was fantastic. Daughter had fish and chips. Very good and a lot of it. The only complaint, if you can call it that, is its over priced....and I believe by a lot. My meal Was an app size and was 15.00. Hubby was 25.00 and daughters were, I think, 18.00. Go there...yes...be prepared to spend the money...yes. I would have done 3 1/2 stars, but wasn't available. I say this because of price and ambiance. It's good. It really is, I just don't think the price is worth it. I doubt I will ever go back. Try it and see what you think. Every time we go I say I'm going to try something new. But after many years, I can't drag myself away from my favorite. Start out with fried calamari. It's quick fried and lightly battered with a great crunch! We always sprinkle on the vinegar with chili peppers and some parmigiana. My go-to meal is the clams and linguine with the white sauce. An absolutely heavenly dish with sweet clams swimming in mounds of garlic with white wine and olive oil and fresh herbs. This is a dish that dreams are made of and try as I might, I've never been able to recreate this at home. Great wines or beer if you like. One star is being far too generous....Waited outside for about an hour, on there menu is clearly stated "all orders are available for take out" which was a lie because when we asked for takeout he said "were too busy to do takeout" which makes no sense, if your busy just let us get take out and we will be out of your way, We wouldn't need to take up space at a table in your already ridiculously small "resturaunt". So instead, my girlfriend and I got sandwiched elbow to elbow between a family of 4 and two other people. We ordered calamari and black pasta and we were given tap water in small cheap solo cups (not even the good solo cups). When we got our calamari my girlfriend ate a piece and found a hair right under where she had just ate from. She got so grossed out she lost her appetite. I called the man over and all he said they "sorry....want another one?" I said no were all set. The black pasta came out and we asked for a to-go box because we didn't want to eat anymore and for SOME reason it wasn't an issue to give us to-go now...overall a really shitty experience and extremely disappointing. Also don't come here if you don't like the constant sound of pots and pans crashing together, because the kitchen is not separated from the seating area. If you like people sneezing into your food next to you, loud enviornments, hair in your food, and shitty service this is the perfect place to come and enjoy a dinner you can floss with. read more
