Expect typical bar food here - nothing to rave about, but it tastes decent. 1 thing that was rather irritating - a different waitress came up to use every 5 minutes to check on our table. I cannot get anyone to acknowledge that i have entered the building and finally found a seat on my own because they appeared to be too busy talking to each other. Very poor service so far! Waiter finally brought food to a table near me but never saw me. GM recognized what was going on and changed a very negative experience to a very positive experience! Managed well with great food! Pictures and reviews looked good, so we stopped by while visiting a band camp in Prosper. What a delight! Hot, delicious, crispy chicken fried steak, from-scratch mashed potatoes, and the corn I chose was actually roasted and delicious! Our server was amazing. She was sweet, prompt, professional, even with a full house. She brought me refills without my asking because she kept track. I wish I could remember her name! Beautiful, very thin. Anyhow, we were stunned and impressed by the whole experience. What a great experience for a restaurant that doesn't even seem to have much competition. We'll definitely go back the next time we're in Prosper. It was good enough to make a trip over just to eat...and we live an hour away. read more

We snuck in late afternoon (4'sh), so this opinion is limited to off hours versus the evening crowd. That said...it was fantastic. We were very glad we chose to stop by. The Owner was kind enough to say hi, the bartender was polite and professional, and the Caprese Bruschetta appetizer (they have more than just appetizers) was excellent. There is ample space on the patio and outside in the band area. ***Seating might be somewhat limited with a busy crowd, but plenty of space to stand. We noticed several Cornhole (or whatever you call it in your neck of the woods) sets available. We loved the atmosphere and will definitely return when we are in the area, again! read more

Cotton Gin Cafe is a small town diner that makes really good food. I was surprised at their extremely large portions and affordable prices. This place is also really packed at lunch but it was such a nice day out we decided to sit on the patio. There's more room in the back. For breakfast I had the eggs, bacon, and biscuit. Great meal to start the day off. It was 10 minutes after the cutoff for breakfast service but they still made breakfast for us. What a guy. For lunch I had their pork tenderloin sandwich with a side of potato salad and a banana pudding for dessert. Coffee, tea, and sodas are self-serve. There is no waiter service. Order at the counter and your food will magically make its way to you. read more

Great local spot. Food is always consistent. Occasionally they have live music. Outdoor seating is awesome when the weather is right. Huge outdoor fireplace on the covered patio for fall and early spring. Parking can be an issue. More businesses coming and less surface area to park on. It can be noisy and congested in the bar area in the evenings. I guess it depends on what you want to get into. read more

In the quickly growing town of Prosper for work a coworker and I decided to eat local as opposed to hitting up a chain restaurant. This place is in "downtown" Prosper and occupies a few of the storefronts. We walked into a place that had a line and very few empty tables which speaks volumes about what the locals think. I opted for the easy route and I got the days combo special which was meatloaf, mashed potatoes, corn or green beans and a role all for about $8 bucks. My friend got the ham and cheese sandwich and the broccoli and cheese soup. The food came quickly and the portion of meatloaf I got was "substantial" to say the least. The mashed potatoes were seasoned well and smooth and the corn was...corn. The roll was quite tasty and overall I was impressed. My friend didn't leave much of his meal to waste and he seemed to enjoy it. They seem to have an extensive menu including some great looking desserts but the meatloaf put those out of reach for me this first visit. I'll know to save room next time. Eating local kind of makes you feel good so if you stumble into Prosper this is worth the try. read more

Over priced, tough meat, poor service, terrible ambiance. We left there very unsatisfied minus $100 for myself and 2 kids- no alcohol.

My wife and I stopped as we were passing through. Definitely worth the stop. My Philly Cheesesteak was very good and my wife's Grilled Chicken Salad looked delicious. Very charming atmosphere. The staff was very friendly and even offered us some left over desserts. Downtown Prosper is going to be the new "hot" area. read more

This was my first time at The Gin. It's very family friendly and they have a decent menu. I ordered the fish and chips which was good and not greasy at all. The fries were a lemon spice flavor which was interesting but just as good. I also ordered the smash which is one of their signature cocktails. It's fruity and refreshing. It looks like they have a great patio area but I was not able to go out there due to the weather but once it warms up I will definitely be back to check it out. read more
