without a doubt, the griddle cafe is a staple and a must stop when youre in LA. Thankfully, living in LA I have access to this diner regularly. The portion size for the griddle pancakes are HUGE! My favorites have been the oreo, banana, and red velvet thus far! I always go for the sunset people omelete. They offer alcoholic drinks like mimosas or bloody marys that pairs well with your breakfast/brunch! The times I've come there is never a wait time, however, this spot is SUPER busy in the weekends so beware! 10/10!
As most reviews read their specialty is pancakes and french toasts. Highly recommend sticking to that. From the 3 dishes we ordered the french toast was good. We ordered their Huevos rancheros (tequila sunrise) and breakfast tacos and did not eat neither plate. Personally I did not think they were picture worthy so I didn't get a picture of them. Personally maybe we are picky individuals but we could not enjoy our choices. The beans and tacos felt almost cold and bland just a couple ingredients mushed together. The french toast was tasty tho that would have been a perfect breakfast alone. Service mid
I am unwell. Was 0% prepared for the enormity of the situation. The pancakes are massive and the stacks are STACKED. Please consider sharing a plate with protein on the side, or be prepared to pack it up for another meal at home. These pancakes are fluffy and generous and incredible. No notes. Two of us split the banana pancakes and an order of the Peanut Bubba Crunchy French toast, which is dipped in a peanut butter crunch and topped with powdered sugar and whipped cream. And we have made additional meals out of them since. We also enjoyed bottomless mimosas, which you can enjoy for an hour and a half!
Well, bad news first. It gets super crowded and there is often a line to get in and parking can be a bear. But the line moves pretty fast. Once in the service is pretty fast and they will get your order right. They are very nice and can guide you through the menu. They have vegan, gluten free, and vegan options. We have been there several times for breakfast and lunch. They have a full bar and it looks good, but we have never tried it. The place is very clean and cute. It is small, but it is comfortable and they have some outdoor seating and a counter. The food is so good. We love their pancakes and their French toast. They have huge portions and a wide selection of pancakes and French toast. My favorite is just their regular stack with eggs and hash browns. Their French press coffee is great. We also love their tea. My grandson likes their fruity pebbles crushed French toast. If you want sugar it may be for you. I tasted and said no I don't think so. Their banana pancakes are great. They have a big selection of pancakes as I mentioned. Their waffles are great and they have tasty syrup. They even have chips with a great salsa and whatever else you want. Have fun.
Quick service and fast to be seated. Our waitress was really helpful helping us narrow down between several options. She however did not mention just how gigantic the portion sizes were. We ordered way too much. I got the berry yellow. I found it to be good but not great. There were far too many raspberry seeds in the pancakes which kept getting stuck in my teeth which took away from my enjoyment. I wish these were strained out of the raspberry jam. I also couldn't taste much lemon flavor, it came across more as acidity.

They are extremely large and the stacks can be very tall. Because of the huge portions, many people share one order with friends or family The pancakes are thick, fluffy, and sweet, with many creative flavors like red velvet, chocolate chip, and oatmeal honey. Service is so good and fast but the wait outside is crazy on weekends. The waiters are attentive and always moving. It's so fast place . The location is very small but worth the wait. The mini French press was hot off the press - black as iron. The pancake was 12" across and 3" high - a massive success of sweet warmth. The French toast was a miss - flaccid and too densely packed with a rind of cinnamon sugar. The caballero burrito was outstandingly hearty and satisfying. A side of refried beans was a good accoutrement. Overall, tough to beat this breakfast in LA or NY.
the menu here is ridiculously long, and honestly, i wouldn't mind coming back a few more times just to try their other omelette dishes because the breakfast food here always hits! this was my 2nd time here, and just like the first visit, the place was packed. i've always ended up seated at the bar because of it, but honestly i don't mind. the staff still stay attentive even during the rush, and the busy atmosphere somehow makes the place feel more lively than stressful. during this visit, i ordered the Omelette My Soul with steak, and the portion was massive. i didn't even finish the whole plate because it was so filling, but it definitely satisfied my breakfast cravings. we also got the Black Magic pancake, which is stuffed with a generous amount of crushed oreos. i barely had room left after the omelette, but i still managed to have a decent portion of the pancake since it was too good not to. if only two people are sharing it, just know you're definitely taking leftovers home. overall, this is one of those places you go to when you want giant portions, comforting breakfast food, and a fun busy brunch atmosphere.
I've had this place bookmarked for years now. I finally made my way to visit this place. Got lucky and parked in the front on Sunset. You can park in the lot that once was Rite Aid for a fee apparently. The wait wasn't that long to get a booth. Not to big of a place so wait could be long for a large party. The menu has a lot to choose from. Have your phone ready to scan the QR to check out the menu. You choose the Hash It Out. You can choose from ground beef or turkey. I went with the turkey. Hash was great because it was made fresh. Some places give you that ready made hash. Not here. The portion was just right so I could still have room for the reason I came here. The pancakes. I ordered the Black Magic for me and the family. Three massive stacked pancakes made with Oreo topped with whip cream. The pancakes were good without the syrup. Four of us were able to put a dent into the Black Magic. The rest of it went home with us. Great service food didn't take long to come out. Overall great experience and worth checking out if in the area.
This is pancake heaven. They are bigger than the plates. I recommend starting off with one. Very heavy and dense. Soaks up the syrup like a sponge. Delish but I was full after three bites. My big back butt thought I could do 3! I got the Teacher's Pet with cinnamon and apples baked in. I also shared a potato scramble with my friend. French press coffee hit the spot! I was wired! One meal is shareable. Period. I ended up leaving with 5 to 6 pounds of leftovers, lol. Waitress was fine. Nothing terrible, nothing spectacular. I tipped well but can't remember her name. Parking can be challenging but I was blessed to find a spot in the front.
I was a little skeptical when coming because the place was empty, but I was thoroughly surprised with just how good the food was. Interior gives more of a diner feel for sure! Our server was attentive and gave us a heads up on just how big the pancakes were, and yet I was still shocked seeing the size of them. I ordered the breakfast tacos and the Golden Ticket pancakes. The breakfast tacos were stuffed and had a great flavor to them, but be warned they are messy. The Golden Ticket pancakes were incredible, I wish I had a bigger appetite truly because I kept eating them well after I knew I was full. Highly recommend, definitely a memorable breakfast and they have a ton of different pancake flavors.
Not bad but nothing that's going to blow your hair back either. My whole family got here right as they opened at 8am on Saturday morning. There was plenty of metered street parking available, however, I was able to snag a coveted unmetered spot just around the corner in front of an office building. If street parking isn't available, there's a very spacious parking lot where the Rite Aid parking used to be but you have to pay a fixed rate of $5. Now to the food. Our eyes were bigger than our stomachs when we ordered Mom's French Toast, a Barry Yellow, a Red Velvet Pancake and a Say Cheese Omelette. The Barry Yellow pancake was a massive three pancake stack! Honestly it was like having a cake. I really enjoy the raspberry and lemon flavor combo in general with pastries so this combination in pancake form was a natural fit for my taste buds. Regardless, there was a good amount left over because it was so massive. Mom's French Toast is their classic dish that put them on the map. It was good. However, it wasn't anything that I couldn't have whipped up myself at home with thick pieces of toast like they used. However I would have cooked it in bacon grease from wood smoked bacon grease! Still good though. The biggest let down was the Red Velvet pancake. Fortunately they only give you one pancake and not three like the Barry Yellow. As someone who has baked my share of red velvet cakes, finding a great recipe for the batter is important but what will make or break things is the frosting. This one fell short on the batter and the frosting. Without real cream cheese frosting then it's not going to cut it. Now I understand that making cream cheese frosting in huge quantities from scratch and to apply it in a swirl on top of the pancake is not cost effective but maybe just having it on the side to dip each bite into could be a possibility?

The Griddle Cafe was amazing. Very busy on the weekend! We did sit at a table on the sidewalk but I think I loved that because it was so crowded and it was really loud inside. Food was fantastic! Had a spicy omelette with fresh tortilla chips (delicious!) and we ordered banana nut pancakes which we split and had massive leftovers , but oh so yummy! There was a tour bus driving by and the driver pointed to our pancakes! lol Great food great service can't wait to go back and try something else! read more

OMG! This restaurant is everything I expected and more. I had this cafe bookmarked for years. I'm so glad I finally got to experience it with a good friend. We got there late morning on a Sunday. Parking was a little challenging, but we ended up parking behind the restaurant in a retail lot. When we arrived there were a few people waiting outside & inside. But luckily they immediately sat us because we were a party of 2. They sat us at a table in the center of the small restaurant. It was quite cramped and a little uncomfortable, but we were excited to be there. Our server was a pretty Asian young woman. She was amazing! She was friendly, patient, and just had great vibes overall. To start we had French press coffee, and a mimosa. Both were very good. I ordered the black magic pancakes & a side of bacon, and my friend got the sunset people. We shared our dishes due to how much food there was. The pancakes were massive. I barely made a dent in it, it was so big. It was filled with Oreo cookie pieces throughout but wasn't overly sweet. It just needed a touch of syrup. The eggs were pretty yummy, but there was a whole lot of cheese. The bacon was t-h-i-c-k. I wished it were cooked down more to a crisp. My experience was definitely a great one. Maybe next time I'll try a different pancake and come earlier so I can sit more comfortably in a booth. 9/10! read more

I'm going to go ahead and give them a 5. I was debating on whether I should give them a 4 star, but I couldn't find anything wrong. We were seated hella fast and the waitress met us in a timely manner. The orange juice was good as hell. It's not freshly squeezed, but it tastes like it was. I had the Muscle Man Scrambled eggs and I am making my own from home starting tomorrow!!!!!!! It was that good. I also had a waffle and that was pretty good. Not the best waffle I ever had, but it vibes descent. I do wish the butter was a little more soft. My wife had the cheese omelette and the original pancakes. We were not easy for the massive size pancakes!! She literally only ate 1/3 of 1 of the pancakes and mind you there were 3 of them. Took them home or our sons to eat. Prices are reasonable and you get way more food for what you pay for. Will definitely go back again. read more

I've been to "The Griddle" several times, all good! Food: Delicious and flavorful! You can't go wrong with their bottomless merry-mosas! Nice selection of food items to choose from with a delicious French toast and pancake menu! I ordered the potato omelette and finished it with the Oreo pancakes! Both delicious! Service: Excellent! It was a nice day so I decided to eat outside. The Server was attentive and made sure I was comfortable. Ambiance: Great! I LOVE the great disco/dance tunes playing in the background! We came in on a Wednesday morning and luckily there was no wait! We were greeted by the kindest waitress who took care of us from Start to finish! The ambiance is chill and casual. The menu is extensive! I suggest knowing what you want ahead of time. Our waitress was patient. We had no issues with our order for a party of seven. The food was delicious and satisfying! I will say the portions are huge. This is definitely the type of place you come to share your food. One order of their famous pancakes feeds four people! This is a must-visit spot in Los Angeles! Not too far from Hollywood Blvd. Put it on your itinerary and stop here before you head out to enjoy your day! You will be FULL guaranteed. read more

I will come back here again and again for their insanely delicious and original take on an Eggs Benedict, with crispy friend potato skins instead of an English muffin! The hollandaise is smooth and flavorful. The Canadian bacon is plentiful, perfectly browned, and JUUUUUICY. The potato skins are fried and salted to perfection. After hiking up and down Runyon Canyon with my homies we decided to reward ourselves by eating some good gourmet pancakes from The Griddle Cafe. We went around 11am on a Saturday and surprisingly was able to get a seat quickly for 6 people. We all ordered different pancakes and tried each one. Each pancake was incredibly delicious. We got the Golden Ticket (Banana filled with Caramel, Walnuts, and Streusel), the Teacher's Pet (Backed with cinnamon apples inside), and the Black Magic (Filled with Oreos) pancakes. Each pancake was amazing so be prepared for a hard decision when choosing, I suggest you study the menu to figure out what you really want before going. I got a side of eggs and chicken apple sausage to complement the pancakes. There is street parking at the location but it's on Sunset so it's very busy at times, some of the side streets suffice for free parking but make sure you read the signs. If you're in town enjoying Hollywood don't hesitate to stop in and indulge in a breakfast delicacy. read more
The pancakes are so good, I got the Sow Your Oats and added pecans, my son got the Black Magic (Oreo). Regular order comes with 3 but it's $1.00 less for 2. One would have been too much though and I hate how much food waste there is. Staff is super friendly, we didn't have to wait at all on a Saturday morning at 8:45. Okay, this is going to be a minute so brace... I have been coming here since it opened. I moved away and then Covid hit. Los Angeles eateries we truly devastated as the HD Rules & Regs all but stopped restaurants from flourishing. Sooo many great restaurants were killed!! When I returned I was so glad to see that this amazing grubbery had survived. Soon as I got back I showed up. Some of the old staff was there! It was very emotional for me because so many friends had lost their livelihoods. But, here's the fucking kicker!! Not only has this incredible eatery survived but they fucking stepped it up!! And I mean STEPPED IT UP! I wish some of the servers understood the importance of this spot just east of the Director's Guild on Sunset & Fairfax. Hell, I'm guessing they weren't even born when the shit hit the fan. The ambiance has always been pretty chill. The music playing in the background brings you back to a time of fun music, and vibe itself is "kick back and enjoy the morning!" The French Press if you like coffee is a 3-Minute wait when it hits your table so wait!! Then - for added protection turn the lid of the press so the teeth aren't showing. If you press to fast it will EXPLODE! So, go slowly. The food is fan-FUCKING-tastic! It isn't cheap. IT ISN'T SUPPOSED TO BE! It's quality food served in a relaxed atmosphere with great music playing in the background. It's an experience. You want cheap? Go fucking eat somewhere else where you get the same old tired breakfasts with absolutely zero personality. You want good food? EAT HERE! Besides, if you order right - you'll be taking some home! (The pancakes taste great while streaming some movie or binging some tv show) I had the Papas & Benedict - the Hollandaise is mad tasty! (I do wish they carried Tabasco!) There is no Canadian Bacon offered here. They serve this dish with the BIGGEST SLAB OF NATURAL HAM!! It's almost obscene. It is undeniably what makes this dish the dish it is!! Poached eggs - perfectly cooked. The grilled onions and spinach could've used a little more love - but that's on me for not being more specific. My niece ordered the HASH IT OUT (Turkey) and was quiet for about 20 minutes. Always a good sign that the food is yummy! Her mom, my bestie, ordered the SCRAMBLE and couldn't stop saying how good it was. And as usual I ordered pancakes for the table. The reason you order it for the table is because they are so damned big - you need to split them. My favorites are the Raspberry Lemon. DAMN!!! Now, they have almost too many pancakes to decide on so I always just blurt out "Raspberry Lemon" like I have Tourette's. They are absolutely memorable. But trust, they are just one and I believe they have over 20 different offerings. As you can tell I am a HUGE FAN & SUPPORTER of this little restaurant that not only could...but did...better than most. Make this a stop on your rotation of breakfast grubberies - you won't regret it. And they also serve some amazing lunch items as well. Happy grubbin' folks!! I can't comment on if it's still the same but it was absolutely delicious when I visited. Food: The food was soooooo great! The portions were humongous! The pancakes were my favorite. The red velvet and the granola. Everyone with me enjoyed their food Service: honestly, I can't remember the service. But I don't remember it being bad. Pancake lovers must run and try this place. Pancakes are HUGE, so much variety to choose from, extremely tasty. Breakfast dishes are plentiful and all freshly made with amazing flavor. They do breakfast all ways, which is what i like; scrambles, wraps, plates, hashes, omelettes- this is always a win for me, because people deserve to have thier favorite meal just the way they like it. The place is small and you can expect a wait time. They will take your number and text when table is ready and will seat you immediately. This is not a place you linger, because you know there is always a crowd waiting to sit, but it's comfy and service is swift to go with the vibe. We had breakfast here twice during our LA trip, and it was hands-down one of the most memorable food experiences! The portions here are insanely huge (in the best way) and packed with flavor. On our first visit, I ordered the famous "Golden Ticket" pancakes -- banana-filled goodness layered with caramel, walnuts, streusel, whipped cream, and more caramel on top. It was absolutely delicious, but wow... MASSIVE. I couldn't even finish half of one pancake, and they serve three on a plate. Definitely shareable and so worth the price. My husband got "Mom's French Toast", and he said it was the best French toast he's ever had. Thick, egg-dipped slices, griddled to perfection, topped with powdered sugar and whipped butter -- classic but done so right. We loved it so much we went back the next day. I ordered "Omelette My Soul" with shrimp -- packed with green chiles, jack cheese, sour cream, avocado, and pico de gallo. Again, huge portion and full of flavor. Super filling, couldn't finish it, but totally worth it. The service was fast and friendly both times, even with how busy the place was. The servers were helpful, attentive, and clearly used to the hustle. Pro tip: Come hungry or split your dish -- the portions are no joke! If you're in LA and love big breakfasts and bold flavors, The Griddle Café is a must-visit. We'll definitely come back next time we're in town! read more

Is this place glamorous? No. What it lacks in appearance, it makes up for in taste and value. I have never had pancakes as large as I had, and they were delicious. Great poached egg and house potatoes. read more

Amazingly huge pancakes! Wanted to continue eating but was extremely full and my friends and I shared one pancake! We did not finish it! We go the peanut butter pancake, it was delicious! Service takes long but if you have nothing better to do then waiting isn't too bad as long as you're not starving. It is loud in there! Make sure you're not trying to have full on meaningful conversation lol read more

The Griddle is walk in only. This Sunday is fathers day so I'd recommend getting there earlier then later. Hope this helps. :)

Shouldn't be a problem. Expect a wait if going at peak times. Call ahead if possible. It's honestly worth the wait.
