We were aiming for brunch at Wilma & Frieda's but with the hour+ wait we ended up at The Hideout. Service was prompt and very attentive - it seems they just recently had a soft opening. I believe Calle was our server and she was on top of all her tables inside the restaurant as well as the outside patio (dog friendly) and kept my bottomless mimosas filled to the brim. We ordered 3 starters: the swordfish and chips ($21), the French onion soup ($13), and the meatballs ($16). Beautifully presented but all lacking salt and flavor. We had to add some table salt (which we never use) and noticed several other patrons in the restaurant also taking liberties with the salt shaker. The menu has your standard fare pizzas, burgers, salads, pastas, and some specialty entrees like steak and whole roasted chicken, but no real standouts. Pricey for what we thought was very essentially bar food. Meatballs ($16) - tender & moist and a generous portion; marinara sauce was the saving grace as the meatballs were quite bland without it. The best option between the 3 starters we had French onion soup ($13) - very mild in flavor, second best of the starters we got Swordfish and chips ($21) - the priciest and most underwhelming of the starters we got Overall the staff was great and would warrant coming back for the service. read more

Not only is the food dry and unoriginal, the dining room is right next to the kitchen, and the entire restaurant had the privilege of listening to someone getting fired with multiple f bombs. Even after the feedback they continued to swear over and over at each other. If you think it will be isolated to the kitchen and it's a one time experience, when I was near the bar on the way back from the bathroom with my 8 year old one of the servers yelled an expletive while putting an order into the system. There's no other explanation other than mismanagement of staff and a toxic culture. read more

My friend and I had the pleasure of eating lunch here today. The service by Sergio and our lunch the Blue Cheese Bacon Burger and House Salad, which we shared was excellent and cooked and served to perfection. The atmosphere and the rest of the staff were kind and inviting. The manager Vic came over to check on us, and couldn't have been nicer and more informative. This is such a change from most of the restaurants in Palm Desert, The Hideout seemed to care about its customers and their food and service. This is a nice restaurant great location and good staff. Jacob rocks, this guys is really friendly, attentive and he knows his menu. The bartender Ema was really cool she was really good at working and talking to the customers at the same time. Her food recommendations were great. The manager Tylor was good he kept his staff cool while under pressure from all the business. He and the (I believe at least one of the owners) Vic. They both were hands on and very helpful to the staff. Vic's food recommendations were on point also. This was my first time eating here and it wow t be my last. This is one of the newer spot on el Paseo and I gotta say it did not disappoint. The vibe was really nice and they surprisingly had tables on a Saturday night! Food was on point had the calamari app and the scallops, wife had the carbonara, and kids had the pizza and spaghetti, all was delicious, service was excellent read more

Homophobic alert in Palm Desert! While the food, service, and overall ambiance of the restaurant is very pleasant (and we've been there several times), the obvious homophobia of the general manager/owner Vic left us with extremely bad feelings after our visit tonight. He spent the evening engaging with one other table (for 30 minutes) and ignoring us and two other tables nearby in the same dining room. From his body language and superficial greetings it was clear how he felt. We are sophisticated restaurant patrons of many places across the country. This was a first for us in the Coachella Valley -- and given the large gay community here -- that was NOT smart of Vic. read more

What an excellent addition to the desert! This locally owned, family run business has won me over. I have been 2 times this summer and both have been marked with excellent service and big smiles. The location at the Gardens on El Paseo could not be easier given the parking garage a couple hundred feat away. The view of the mountains adjacent to 74 offers a perfect way to view the sunset. Every day there are specials. I had the baby back ribs which were exceptional. Highly recommend. read more

We were glad the hostess asked if wanted to sit close or away from the music. Enrique our server was friendly but not attentive. When I asked about the fish and chips he rudely replied that those can not be ordered after 3pm instead of saying he'd ask the chef. He also talked so fast and mumbled that we could not understand him and had to keep asking him to repeat. He needs serious training in customer service. The baby wedge and the roasted beet salads were just ok. We ordered appetizers to be delivered after we completed our salads. Unfortunately the hot items arrived after we had taken only a few bites of our salads. We did not understand what the server was saying it sounded like mushrooms so we said we did not order that. She left and a few minutes later server arrived and asked why we sent our food away. Told him it wasn't our order. The whole evening was frustrating and worse the food was not desirable. The avocado fries had a nasty taste and tasted previously frozen. The zucchini fries were very greasy and way too much batter and also tasted previously frozen. The poke nachos were also not fresh. Not a positive experience. Dined on the patio in fresh air and had a view of the mountains. read more

The service, especially our server, Chris, was attentive, warm and helpful. We enjoyed pizza, Chinese chicken salad, lamb burger and smash burger. The atmosphere was lively and festive. My new favorite place. Fabulous service, delicious food, easy on the wallet, You may sit inside or out and it is lovely either way. Came during lunchtime and the restaurant was completely empty. This made me very leery at first but I was pleasantly surprised by this place. The server was very attentive and the food arrived quickly. Fresh ingredients and flavorful food! I highly recommend the truffle Brie pizza. The crust on the pizza is perfectly crunch yet pillowy and the truffle gives a wonderful added layer of flavor. My friend ordered the lobster bisque pasta which was creamy with perfectly Al dente pasta. I'm surprised this place was empty! The only thing I would recommend is sitting outside versus inside because it's almost uncomfortably warm in the restaurant as if the air conditioner wasn't running.
