They can option the side to the outdoor bar so that you can hear the music inside while enjoying some AC. My first and last time coming to the beach establishment they seemed to not have a clue as to what is going on. They had 4 bartenders on yet the service was sub par there were moments that none of them were behind the bar. Today 3/6 was our first time had the happy oysters which were amazing. The happy hour drinks however save your time go to anywhere else not having a full liquor license breaks this place the old fashion was terrible and so was the kiwi vodka drink. Tried switching drink to the house red blend for happy hour and it was great minus I wanted one more before happy hour ended and the girl was like oh I missed it you've been charged for full price. I'm not the type to argue so we paid and ran to a different bar next door. Neptune Beach has a number of cool restaurants with nice aesthetics and pretty cafe lights, but in all of my adventures eating at these restaurants, I've never been as happy as I was eating with my friend at The Local. I've been in Atlanta my whole life, and the food scene there is second only to places like New York. This restaurant not only took me back to the A, but it gave me hope for the future of Jacksonville's food culture. Beautiful building, GREAT parking right out front, super dope outdoor bar area, tons of seating, great drink selection, and AMAZING food. I had the Ahi Tuna Poké Nachos (10/10), and my bougee friend that's always super picky with food and dining experiences had the fried oyster Caesar salad (another 10/10). We had a couple drinks and finished it off with the chocolate ganache and key lime pie, and both desserts were better than most of my favorite spots back home. I'll be taking everyone visiting me in Jax to this restaurant, and I'll probably find myself hanging out there for lunch with my laptop getting work done on my days off. After 20 minutes and checking with the hostess we were told outside seating wasn't available because of short staffed. This place gets busy. With that being said, staff service never seems to fall by the wayside. The bar staff, in my opinion, is the best the town center has to offer! We have always enjoyed the food at the San Marco location so were eager to try this location in Neptune Beach. I will admit, we arrived in the middle of a busy Sunday brunch time. It was near capacity, but not overcrowded. We were seated quickly, but it also unraveled quickly. There was confusion and miscommunication with the servers. Error after error, oversights and mistakes. It took one hour and twenty minutes to get our food. I know, because I was paying for parking. The server was reasonably attentive, acknowledged the delays, and said they were short-staffed in the kitchen. The food was actually good, but after the wait, it wasn't as appealing. No manager ever came by or was visible. We should have been comped a cup of coffee, if not the entire meal. We chose to wait it out because it was pleasant enough in terms of the atmosphere and we crossed a point on no return, where walking out with nothing would not have improved the mood. The food is quite good and we will go again - but proceed with caution. Look out for red flags of understaffing and be ready to exit quickly if you're not getting normal service. read more

I frequent this restaurant regularly for the food, environment and service. My family and I have come to love a particular server- today when arriving and being told our server was working- we asked for their table- but unfortunately they were just cut. The server even offered to stay and and serve us- and was still given the definite answer of no. We sat ourselves at the bar and just finished our last beverages- and the server is just now leaving. If they had this much side work to complete- I don't see the harm in allowing them to serve one more table of their "regulars". I do hope management knows the service is a majority of the reason why we come here, and do hope they continue to provide their staff and customers the outcomes they have learned to expect. read more
