I'm picky and used to run back of house at a brunch place. My buddy almost fell off his chair when I said "this is amazing, I wouldn't change a thing." Their Jalapeño scramble, eggs over medium, add chorizo was outstanding, as was the blueberry pancake. Coffee was top notch, mimosa well presented. Dominic, our server whom I do not know personally, has been my server before. Any restaurant owners looking to train their staff on the cheap, give your servers a gift certificate to the lowbrow, tell them to ask for Dominic, and tell them to take notes. They will get a master class.

Stopped in for some dinner while in the area to try somewhere new. The aesthetics were pretty cool, and it definitely gave off local gathering place vibes. Everyone was chatting and seemed familiar it's each other. Such a positive atmosphere! The food was tasty and had generous potions for the burger and fries. It did take a while for it to come out though. The service was otherwise friendly and prompt. Would stop in again.

What a great neighborhood spot! It seemed like almost everyone knew each other in here which made for a fun vibe. I sat at the bar and ordered a burger. The service was excellent, friendly and efficient. Especially for how they catered to the regulars, I still was not overlooked. Nice. The burger was amazing! The bacon fig jam with the cambozola cheese was an excellent pairing and elevated the burger well. The fries were fantastic. I kept thinking I'm full, I need to go, and I'd pop another fry in my mouth. Addicting! Definitely want to come back to try more items off of their menu. Trying to figure out ways to head to that part of town now.

I love lowbrow. The one thing I wish it had right off the bat is a bigger parking lot/space. Lowbrow is street parking and sometimes I have to park at least a block away. Not far at all but just letting y'all know. They don't have a button for the doors to open automatically. The restaurant is typically bustling with some outdoor seating options when the weather is nice. They have gender neutral accessible bathrooms. I've eaten dinner here and I like their dinner. However, I LOVE eating brunch at lowbrow. I get the truck stop sandwich with vegan patties and a side salad. It's delicious and filling. Their deviled eggs are yummy, and their pancakes are to die for. I get one as dessert and split it. & you can never go wrong with Peace coffee. I docked off a star due to parking and because it could be more accessible outside and inside the restaurant. Like if I could do a 3.5 I would. However, the food overall especially the brunch is 5/5.

One of my new favorite breakfast places in town! A nice cozy but still hip brunch ambiance, will definitely be back for dinner sometime too. Plenty of street parking, plus single-stall bathrooms! I started out with a peach iced tea ($3.25)--I think this may be one of the first places I've found with an unsweetened fruit tea before, which was so refreshing and had just enough peach essence to have flavor to it without feeling overpowering or artificial! I got the jalapeño hash ($15.25) with bacon added (+$3) and the eggs scrambled, at the recommendation of our server--normally I'm usually an over-easy enjoyer myself but scrambled was totally the right recommendation for this since the sour cream made it plenty sauce anyway! Great flavors, and the cooked jalapeño was DELICIOUS. I also got a single raspberry pancake ($5.75) on the side, which was also perfect--not too sweet or moist, with the perfect amount of fruit inside. Even though the food was great, the best part of this for me was our server Dominic--when I had no clue what to order, he recommended that hash (with customizations) with a QUICKNESS (after making sure I was a spicy/savory enjoyer first), and I literally never had to ask for an iced tea refill--normally, I feel annoying asking beyond the first refill, but he was on TOP of it, even with the place being as busy as it was! Loved the food here, and will be back quite soon to try any of the dozen menu items I was torn between today.

Me and my boys love The Lowbrow. They' think the best kids Cheeseburger is here so there's that! Today I got The Fire Breather which wasn't my favorite I've had, but still tasty. I'd recommend the Americana or Royal Jam burgers. Service is always good. Almost too good. The waters are always refilled frequently, and staff make sure to check in. Overall nice bar feel and neighborhood spot to stop in and give a go.

Some friends and I came here after a yoga class because we wanted to hang out longer, and it was a great choice! We were in between meals, but it was the weekend so still had a pretty steady lunch crew inside. We opted to get snacky things to share, like fries and fried pickles. All were great and easy shareables. I got a root beer float as well which hit the spot. They offer burgers, soups, salads, and sandwiches - and even have a dog treat menu item. Our service was personable and friendly, and we were well attended to. The ambiance inside feels like a classic neighborhood joint and I loved that!

Great burgers and fries! Lovely neighborhood joint with creative weekly specials. Such cute and inviting, casual decor with warm and friendly service. I hope to come back soon for their Happy Hour deals! Don't skip on the skin-on FRIES! They are delicious. Burger of the Month: Niman Ranch Beef with sautéed honey crisp apples, bacon, maple mustard sauce, and Gruyère cheese.

This is a nice, small neighborhood bar with a surprisingly great vegetarian menu for a burger-centric place. It's a small dining room and only a couple sidewalk tables so they fill up pretty quick. The service was good but I suspect they were understaffed since it took a bit between visits. Went for their date night special and it's a decent deal if you were going to order 2 beers and a dessert anyway. Normally I wouldn't get a beer or dessert so it ended up being pricier than our normal dinner. The tempeh Reuben was decent, and I'm just happy to find a meat-substitute Reuben since they're pretty rare. I love tempeh but this patty was kind of bland and the kraut didn't have much kick to it. Overall it was ok but I don't think I'd pay that price for it again without some punchier flavors. Tofu sticks are good but not strongly flavored. The bbq sauce is necessary. Book Club has better happy hour ones for $5. The peanut butter pie was insanely rich, but tasty. Pro tip: they serve it straight from the fridge so it's too cold. Give it 5 minutes to soften up and that PB flavor will pop. Also recommend sprinkling a pinch of salt on top. Overall it's an ok spot for post work beer and I wouldn't be upset about going back. Great if you live nearby but probably wouldn't make it a top choice.

This place is a cash only place I think. Well, I've only paid cash when I come here for many many years there was a sign cash only. They might take credit cards now MAYBE I'm not sure but if they do they might charge you a kajillion dollars for the fees lol. Just pay in cash. Bring lots of cash cuz you're gonna want to try the double cheeseburger AND the famous Juicy Lucy. I don't ever get the juicy Lucy because it comes out to piping hot and I don't wanna wait 10 minutes to eat my food lol. Their french fries are just like McDonald's french fries but it taste a lot more fresh. It is so good. You're gonna want to get a full basket. - Matt's Bar Since…read moreMatt's Bar is one of the two Minneapolis restaurants that claims to have invented the Jucy Lucy, I had to stop in and try it for myself. This is a very busy place, so expect at least some wait. I stood in line for about five minutes, but I was dining alone and was able to take a seat at the bar. Larger parties may have to wait longer. Also, be aware that Matt's Bar is cash only. The Jucy Lucy is clearly the most popular item. The burgers are cooked to order, but the grill is constantly loaded with them. From what I observed, they seemed to be prepared in batches, so your wait may depend on where your order falls in the cooking cycle. Parking was easier than I expected. I found free street parking about 100 yards away. The bartender was excellent, the kitchen staff kept things moving, and there was a decent beer selection. I also ordered fries, and the portions are enormous. A half order would easily be enough for two people to share, while a full order could probably feed four. As for the burger itself, it was good and definitely worth trying for the history and experience. I would rate it somewhere around 3.5 to 4 out of 5. One important tip is to let it sit for about five minutes before taking a bite. The cheese inside is extremely hot and very liquid when the burger first arrives, so it can easily burn your mouth. Giving it a few minutes allows the cheese to cool and thicken slightly. Overall, I enjoyed Matt's Bar and am glad I tried the original-style Jucy Lucy. Between the crowds and the cash-only policy, it is probably a one-time experience for me rather than somewhere I would visit regularly, but it was still a very good stop.

This makes the burger really chewy and you really can't taste the beef anymore like you used to when it was thicker. I would take this as it's not as good as it used to be. It is not as good as the original hype from the beginning. In conclusion, I do not think it's worth the $19. I rather get a cheesesteak for $16 at Tono's which comes with fresh not burnt fries rather than come back here and get a burger here. It's highly unlikely I will be back here. I honestly feel like the burgers have gone way WAY downhill. The fries here have gotten terrible so I stopped getting the fries a long time ago. They are not soft crisp like they used to be. They are too golden brown color, almost like burnt hard fries. I never like to eat down here. I normally would order the Parlour burger upstairs. The basement part which is Parlour has a weird smell like a locker room smell so that's why I don't like to eat down here.

PARKING: always hard in Linden Hill. Street parking in neighborhood nearby is the best. Plan for a 5 min walk. You get west coast mid century modern that feels cozy and hip. The band played from 3-5 which I admit I originally thought was weird. But quickly realized why. This place was created for three reasons: good food, vibes, and family fun. You look around the room and EVERYONE is having a great time.
